I have been wearing the Fitbit Flex for the last 2 weeks and love it. Very easy to use and seems to be very accurate. I looked at several...Jawbone, Nike + and a few others but preferred the Flex. I definitely recommend it.

I was sleeved on 8/16/13 and my hospital stay went well and I've had zero complications (thank god). The pain once I was home though was unbearable at times. Where my larger incisions are hurt even if I moved. I had bad buyers remorse. At 6 weeks out I feel better (most of the time) and I don't regret it at all. I've lost 37lbs and I'm so grateful for this whole process. Good luck with everything

Had surgery yesterday and have chest pain
Band Aid mom replied to mare81's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hang in there Mare81- it does get better! Everyone heals and responds differently and I can only give you my experience, but I am more than happy to help any way I can. I am only one week in and am certainly no expert, but it is fresh on my mind. I really do feel like walking and keeping fairly active was the key to my success. I was up walking morning and evening from the moment we reached home Thursday afternoon. I used ice packs religiously for the first 24 hours, then switched to a heating pad for the next couple of days. Both of my daughter had lapband on the same day I did and they were about a day behind my schedule, but by Sunday, everyone was feeling sore but good. -
feel like i have a gut ache between my breast
honk replied to sunflower26's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sounds like a stuck episode. Welcome to the club. At three weeks out what type of foods are you supposed to be eating? For me at 3 weeks I was allowed cottage cheese and yogurt. Did you move ahead to quickly on your doctors post op diet? If you ate solids when you are supposed to be on mushies that could be your problem. The more details you provide the more I can try to help. -
(Tmi) Sorry Ladies I Need Your Help Here Please.
JustSkinnyMeInside replied to Karen2012's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
While I haven't been sleeved yet, I read some other posts that your period gets all outta whack for a few months after surgery. The reason being you're losing weight, and as you lose, all of those stored up hormones in the fat are being released. Some girls reported having a period sometimes 2 weeks after just having one, with varying lengths each time. I think I read these posts under "The powder Room" in Forums. I'm sure it's the most unpleasant thing because you are still trying to heal and adjust to everything, but hopefully it will be over soon! Yuck! I think we all hate our period! -
Please Tell Me...
Mrs.Prisses replied to favoredone's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
And we ALL know we don't want anything to do with "STALL"! Keep eating and moving! Then when your all done moving, drink some Protein shake. Then move some more. At night when the cravies come...go yourself to sleep. The best way to avoid cravings is to keep moving so that you can sleep at night like your supposed to. food is all around us and will always be. They took our tummies, not our taste buds. I will never be cured of my desire for Church's chicken, but, I will be strong enough to resist it. I will because I know that its going to go to my body and do absolutely NOTHING good. I am in charge now and I say what goes in me MUST do something good FOR me. That being said...I also have found some yummy substitutes for some old unhealthy favorites. -

Sick Of Protein Drinks!
BBdoodle replied to Stardusted's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hear ya !!! I'm 6 months post op and not very fond of them either but they are the best form of protein. Can you maybe change flavors or brands ?? Warning - don't even look at the protein shots they are absolutely discusting !!!! My doc wants me to have minimum 64 grams of protein daily, now that I am on regular food I do get more protein from food and will eliminate the shakes all together soon. Milk (low fat), Cottage cheese, yogurt, nuts, beans etc. are all high in protein. But you are only 2.5 weeks post op so probably still on liquid right? To get a extra bang I would make my shake with low fat milk to have some extra protein. Hang in there sweetie, the protein is a must to maintain health/nutrition and hair !!! -
I am 5 weeks and some days (like today) I still struggle with getting enough food in. On certain days my body just isn't into it and nothing sounds appetizing or I feel full/nauseous after a few bites. My doc told me that if any food stage is a struggle you may not be ready for it and there's nothing wrong with going back to the previous stage for a while.

GPS Questions from the Severly Morbidly Obese (670+ pounds)
Cknorte replied to Patrick Curl's topic in Gastric Plication Surgery Forum
Hi Patrick, I had over 150lbs to lose....I am down 52. I can't eat more than 3/4-1cup of food. I usually get in around 900-1000 calories a day. So you can totally lose weight and a lot of it......just think about it.... Also, with Plication...there is a risk that the sleeve could stretch if you constantly overeat (it's hard to do, because it is super uncomfortable to overeat), but they can go back in and re-stitch and re-tighten. Corvala is an awesome Dr. let us know what you find out....good luck! -
HI all I had my first fill on Friday 18th April, 2 1/2 weeks after my op, it doesnt normally get done this early, however my doctor said he would do it as I have to drive in over an hour. the needle was fine, and I hate needles, so I thought I was really brave. i felt a little restriction after it, as I eat the wrong thing, and it hurt like hell. I have experienced the bringing back up thing, as I tried to have some Water afterwards to ease the pain and it just came straight back up. My port is still a littlel uncomfortable, great when I am laying down, but not when I am standing up. Seems to sick out a bit and is still a bit tender around this area. It is getting better when i sneeze, dosn't feel like its diving deep into my stomach as much now. I have lost just over 6 kgs in 3 weeks so I am happy with that, I haven't got into the excercise thing as of yet. But hopefully I will manage that soon. chow for now

I'm going back to basics tomorrow, I've lost myself somewhere. Have been very stressed panning a big 50th party for my husband in March and have stopped doing me.... I log every day on MFP and stay under my targeted cars but I know my food prep has fallen back to old ways although my portions are very small, I think that has an effect on my stall also. So any way I'm going to do just shakes for a few day to remember why I had this wonderful surgery and "tool" and recalculate my efforts.

Noticing A Change...
mnbsleeve replied to Reddi4change's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For me it took almost 35 pounds before I started to really get comments.... but now! Even a 1 or 2 lbs loss and people ask: "are you losing weight? you look great" LOL I guess proportionally the weight loss is greater closer to goal... which is great because the loss slows down and we need the encouragement LOL But I remember going to my hair salon, after loosing close to 70 lbs (I see this gal every three weeks mind you) and one week I come in and she asks, "are you losing weight?" I cracked up! I had lost about 2 lbs. since I saw her last but like 70 overall. I though, yeah just a little bit! Funny how she noticed those two but not the other 68! :-) -
Anyone else sick of Protein drinks? I am 2 1/2 weeks post op and can barley stomach them! I fell like I have to choke them down! Anyone else feeling this way? Suggestions? surgerversary: sept 24th 2012. Starting weight: 240 Today's weight: 222!

I am two weeks past my first fill and there are times when I feel restriction and times when I don't. The lump in my throat appears some mornings and doesn't on others! Fickle..... As I do most of my eating in the afternoon/night I obviously feel it most then, but I do know when I have had enough. I haven't had pain, but what I feel is quite bizarre and kind of hard to explain. I have two weeks until fill #2!

I had sushi at my 7 week post op. Only had 2 and was done.

I was 6 weeks out and tried the rainbow roll. I ate 6 of the ten slices, probably one too many. Loved it though. No issue other than a little too full.

Vertical Sleeve with Dr. adam Smith
FatMamaw replied to FatMamaw's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I too used dr Adam smith. I used him just because, he took my insurance, and he was the nearest to my home. And my nephew recommend him as a friend I also had mine done at trophy club 02/18/ 13. I think he did a great job. I was wondering ...those who had surgery a bout 4 weeks ago, if I will be well enough to take my grandkids camping over spring break? -
Ow many carbs should I aim for at 5 months out. I have a feeling they contribute to my stalls. Down 111 pounds in 5 months and want to keep it going.

Question about sleeve vs RNY
chris1142 replied to Angie413's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm lots older than you, was 50 pounds heavier and the same height. I was insulin dependant. I am 7 months out, down 89 pounds and was taken off all diabetes medications including insulin when I started my 2 week pre surgery diet. I'm still insulin free and my A1c is normal and my glucose readings are stable throughout the day. I love what the sleeve is doing for me. Hope this helps and wishing you well with whichever surgery you choose. -
I was in excruciating pain. Up until the 3rd week then it just magically disappeared. I'm sure being forced to chase around a 1 year old didn't help. But yes, I had pain also.

VGS Scheduled 9/2 - SUPER SCARED!
Bean80128 replied to Jennifer Cunningham's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was pretty nervous prior to my 7/20 surgery-mostly about not being able to handle the pain and having bad scars. I know everyone's experience is different but, for me it was so much better than I had anticipated. Upon waking in recovery I was really surprised that i had NO pain just the feeling of a giant burp that was stuck! I reasoned that the lack of pain was due to all the drugs and that i would soon be miserable. I never was. I never really had any pain-some discomfort sure and if i moved too quick or twisted I'd get a pinch feeling at my incision sites. No pain, no vomiting. I felt way worse the last time i had the flu than at any point after the surgery. Maybe i was exceptionally lucky but...maybe you will be too! I am now down 26 pounds in 4 weeks and could not be happier that i went ahead. Just remember, there is no need to assume the worst- you have just as good a chance of being one of the lucky ones!
