  1. Kat, that is awesome news!!! Wow girl... you're gonna lose a ton of weight and sizes when the procedure is done. Just in time for the big Bash!! Then we can all ask to see your scars. I had a couple of NSVs today. We went to walmart to get a few things. I saw some Faded Glory stretch jeans on sale from $16 down to $9. So I got a pair of 14's thinking I can wear them later when I get past the 16's. WELL... I tried them on when I got home and they fit with plenty of room. PLUS I got a t-shirt to wear under a tunic for our New Day Singers picture tonight. The biggest size they had was a medium 8/10. I figured since it would be worn underneath something, it didn't matter if it was a little tight or not. I tried it on when I got home and IT FITS with plenty of room. I guess I just have a hard time wrapping my brain around the fact that I am no longer in 22/24 2X stuff anymore! What a great feeling! Now if I could just get a bra that fits, I'll be happy. I'm having the worst time with that. I really need to get fitted, but just haven't figured out where to have it done. I also got some new sandals for the cruise. Size 8 and 1/2 down from 9 and1/2 wide!! I'm lovin' it!!!

Great job, you all! I think it is awesome your still seeing the nsvs!!! I think the nsv's are so important too! Okay well I am hitting the gym tonight as long as I get my crazy homework done...I have to hurry!!! I will report in when I get back with my totals...

    Early NSV!!

Wooo hoooo Amanda!! That is awesome!! You're a tough cookie, girl. I'm so impressed with how you have bounced back after a rough start to things. Keep up the good work:thumbup::thumbup: I'm trying so hard not to weigh myself everyday. I don't want the scale to dictate my success but losing 20lbs in 3 weeks makes it hard to not want to see the numbers everyday. I think NSV's are a much healthier measure of success!! Keep it up Double V's and again...CONGRATS Amanda!!

    Early NSV!!

another NSV i hate my scale it's been stuck for 5 days....i know part of it is that my diabetes has been a litttle less than predictable and i've been letting it run a little high (for safety) especially when i was obstructed. now i feel like my intake is okay and that i can get in some quick glucose if i need to....BUT TO MY NSV!!! i walk at work every day at noon...today i wore these really great velvet pants that i couldn't button the inner button on before surgery...today i put them on without un buttoning them---just slid them right on woohoo..and on my walk i had to keep hitching them up. also i grabbed a full handful of fabric on each leg and held it up a little while walking because they were rubbing together not my legs but the excess fabric was rubbing together......let's spread some joy and encouragement post those NSV amanda

No way could I put you to shame Stef. From what I've been reading here, you have no shame when it comes to lifting. As for "non lifting days", if I didn't have those, my arms and legs would fall off.:cool2: Cardio is going good though. I attribute that to my weight loss totals. Now, for another nsv. I had to make my 3rd adjustment to my duty belt since coming back to work 1 month after surgery. In the past, that has meant lengthening the belt. Now, it means making it smaller. I keep having to readjust all my pouches, holsters, etc. on my belt to make it fit right. Also, I got new uni's about 1 1/2 mos ago to go smaller. At the time, they had a little "give" to them. Now, the shirts are way out from my stomach and my pants are getting some "pleats" from being a little too big. Even though I've been on a plateau for a couple of weeks now, I know I am still losing size.

Karri - Great NSV 1.25 miles - if I can jog for 1/10 of a mile I am happy - I can say that I have increased my incline to 4 -5-6 and I feel good at that and have increased my mileage to 3.5 - will do that for a couple of week then push it up to 4. I feel the same way about support group in person - why - I have all the support i need right here and it's open 24/7 and I don't have to drive anywhere. Ours is lapband only - and the one we had the 1st of Feb was ok - I got a little out of it but not much - and it make a long day for me and I miss my exercise - so I may go in March if Phyl goes just to see her. As far as being out spoken like me - so what these people need a reality check - I think the lady you are going with may benefit from some counseling - There is no shame in it - not everyone can do it on their own and they may have deeper issues that need the help of a professional - I guess for some of us the whole serious issue of having surgery was what we needed to finally get it - I really think that alot of people who have the surgery be it bypass or band - really think in the back of their minds that the surgery alone will take care of their food issues and weight problems - As WE ALL KNOW THAT'S NOT TRUE - WE HAVE TO DO THE WORK... Yes just saying thank you is so hard - I have been doing it though - I love it.. Ruby Glad to hear you are doing so much better and had a good time with your son - I totally agree to take it easy for a day or 2... Ok - I started this an hour ago - phone keeps ringing - just found out another gf just went to Mex - Dr Oritz and got banded she called to ask questions... Well phone is ringing again - will ck back later..

    I can see my ribs!!!

Congrats, great NSV! I don't think it's crazy at all to make a big deal about it (because it is a big deal), it's these crazy NSV's that help us get our confidence back and feel good about what we have accomplished. I can feel mine when I'm laying down, but I can't see them yet.........I'll be sooo excited when I can!
  8. Ceradad

    I can see my ribs!!!

I do the same thing. DW hasn't caught me doing it, but it's amazing. I also feel alot more muscle under there than ever before. And I played football throughout hs and jr college. Congrats on the nsv, loridee! Feels great doesn't it

    My first NSV

I did it! :smile2: I fit into jeans a size smaller than before surgery!! The scale isn't acting like my friend these days, but obviously my band is :biggrin2:. Woooo Hoooo. Happy Dance!! ~Amy

    I can see my ribs!!!

You go, girl! Congrats on this big NSV.
  11. Thanks for the reminder Laura!!! I logged on and both my refunds hit my account!!! Actually were deposited on Valentines Day---and I had forgotten! Still waiting to hear from anyone---I have to say that really, seriously pisses me off! Do not tell someone you will call if you have no intention of doing so! I had an NSV this morning. You know I said we had to replace the toilet in the main bathroom---so I kept the box---as anyone around kids learns to do--this allows for hours of playtime. Well Kinsey and I both fit in the box!!! I was not sure my neck would ever straighten out right again---but we fit!!! She is now napping in the box!!! Rick and I have tossed ideas around, we usually buy something for the house or have some sort of plan for our tax return----but nothing this year! We had the same issue with Valentines Day! We kept trying to come up with a fun thing to buy for ourselves...nothing! I got my rose---I get every year---and we went to dinner. But we shopped on Thursday----found nothing! We ended up buying new shoes (tenny runners) and joked that they were our Valentine gift! Several years ago after I complained about my roses dying after Valentines Day...I said if the season were different I could have a rose bush for the garden instead--I have a rose garden--as well as a big yard. Well then the next year Rick give me a heart shaped box of candy, and a catalog from Jackson Perkins! So now each year I get to pick out a new rose---we order it as soon as Mother's Day passes which is our usual last freeze---and then when it comes in he plants it for me and Valentines is officially over for the year!! Thinking about one of the hybrids they have that are so pretty! Or maybe setting out some miniatures .....not sure yet! He said to irritate his secretary when she ask what he got me for Valentines Day, he told her a new toilet!!! Would have loved to have seen her face!! I have a roast in the crock pot, hoping it cooks tender enough for me to eat with my tooth! I need to go finish up cleaning out the fridge, and loading the DW----all the fun jobs!!! TTYL~~ Kat

The last time I went snowboarding I cried for 2 reasons: 1) I was so embarrassed about my lack of ability because of my weight and.... 2) I knew then that I was scheduled for my surgery and would never have to feel that shame again well.............. I went snowboarding with the family yesterday and it was awesome. My kids were saying things like..."you did not even stop once" or " every time I looked back you were right with us". This is one of my biggest NSV's to date. It is so fun to do something as a family and not be the one lagging behind or having to quit early!!! I am so proud of myself and trust me that is not something I say often (maybe not ever)!!!! I could also get up on my board from a sitting position....before I always had to flip over (resembling a beached whale on snow) and get up on my knees first, but now I can get up the normal way. My kids however did not think that was a bid deal because they could always do it and never realized that I couldn't! Oh well...I was proud! Also, last time nothing fit. I had to wear my thin jacket with the bottom of the zipper half way up just to go around my butt...this time same jacket with another jacket underneath and still had plenty of room and a size large snow pants! I did not want to buy the new jacket until next year when I am at goal!!!! Thanks for listening....can you hear the excitement????

  14. Who is that itty bitty girl being terrorized by that giant pink pig??? oooooooooooooooooo it's MEEEEEchelle!! Cute pic! I for one am very happy in my new body and was falling into the trap of convincing myself that I could eat snacks as long as I ate little amounts. That philosophy was totally wrong and was making the pounds slowly climb up a couple of ounces at a time. sooooo I said enough is enough and I am one of the fortunate people who can actually say it and mean it. I guess that attitude comes with the extra years along with maturity and wrinkles! I have been doing really great since the beginning of this month and the NSVs along with a new excitement for exercise are helping me through this mental plateau. I really believe exercise is an extremely important key along with drinking the required amount of water. How many of you can say honestly that you get the required amount of water and exercise each day??? I am sooooooooo working on that now and I find I can't even go in the living room anymore without picking up some weights, or my stretching thingy or jumping on the elliptical. Just like when food is there, I eat it.... when the equipment is there, I do it. Hearing that Tracy can get into size 10 jeans (wooo hooo girl) makes me a little upset cause I'm 20# less than her and am in 16's and 14's, BUT, I used to be in 22/24 so I can't feel sorry for myself. And even though I'm a minister's wife, I'm still human and the looks I get from guys now are flattering, not humiliating. Course most of them are in their 70's and their eyesight ain't the best, but it's the principle of the thing, right??? Well, it's been a lazy day today. No Ethan cause his daddy is home from work. Our tax man called and we owe $250 to state, but get $1400 back from Federal. Course we won't see it cause it gets applied to our quarterly payment, but that means I don't have to pay anything but the $250 on April 15th. I already had money set aside for that so guess where that goes??!! Can we say San Antonio????? And DD Kris called to tell me she doesn't have school tomorow. The college is closed again because of the ice and that's a very, very rare occurance. She's going nuts at home alone though. She can't get out of her driveway. I'm off to look at dinner stuff. I'm fixing pepper steak in the pressure cooker. should be interesting. The Bobster has Bible study tonight and has to leave by 5:30 so I better get going. Catch ya'all later!

HI girls~~ Sorry I have not checked in, I have been a bum!!! I have the crud that is going around, I actually saw the Dr. for other things, but he swabbed me to check for the flu and my test did not change to either positive nor negative!!! They gave me a scrip for tamiflu if I got to feeling worse over the weekend. Which I did but it was not all related. I felt like I had a cold Saturday but we met with the family to do our monthly Breakfast out---and 3 bites into breakfast I broke my tooth again! It broke last week clear down at the root. It had been fractured years ago courtesy of my ex---and it finally gave out. Well my options were few so we decided it had to come out, and I have to see an oral surgeon for it, since it is down to the root, under the surface. The oral surgeon cannot do it until the 27th. So they put a temporary cover like filling--and 3 bites into breakfast it broke off---so I am hurting then. The cold got some worse, but nothing too bad, now I am to the point of doing nothing but coughing---and trying to decide how to handle it, to try to push up my oral surgery and be hacking myself silly with an open socket---or cope with the tooth until I feel better....what a dilemma!!! I had actually went to the Dr, on Friday to get my PS referral, which he did without question. He made all kinds of notes to build my case so that insurance will pay for the pannectomy---then I can speak with the surgeon about expanding it during my surgery---he said it is quite common. The Dr.'s office is to make my appointment, and also let me know how my latest blood work come out with my thyroid---and we are now into afternoon, and I have heard nothing. I called, neither one has had anything done, the blood work was not back, and she had not made my appointment. AARRGGHH!!! Keep thinking positive, and breath deep-----my current mantra!!! Rick is healing up! He was major upset that we had a fairly decent weekend and he could not ride, it hurt too bad! Was fine by me, there is way too much debris on the road for my comfort. We will wait awhile. Thanks for asking about him!!! He treated me like a baby all weekend, laid me on the couch, and made me wake up and drink every few minutes....sweet.....yeah----about 2 hours into it I wanted to hurt him!!! Well---I am off to dry off the girl--I am sitting here with the laptop while she plays in a bubble bath---but her Water is cold, her chin is shivering!! Oh I had a NSV this morning---even in my discomfort!!! We had a plumbing issue over the weekend, the tank to the toilet in the main bathroom cracked for who knows what reason, so we had to replace the toilet. As all of you with kids know, when you have a big box from something, you save it------several hours of play taken care of. So my NSV.....Kinsey and I can both fit in the box that our new toilet come in!!! Thought I may never straighten my neck again, but she loved it!! Kat

    Non-scale Victories!

First off, let me just say what a wonderful thread this is and I hope that it will keep getting added too. I know I definitely will be back with more NSV's in the future...but for now here is my first public NSV; like 9 months ago I went to a fellow SAHM's house for a playdate and she invited me out onto her back porch so that we could keep an eye on the kids playing in the back yard. Well to my panic I looked around and noticed that all the patio chairs had "arms" on them and I could tell by just looking that there was no way my rear end was going to fit (even to squeeze - which I can't do due to some nerve damage in my left thigh from a severe car accident 10 years ago). So I just stood there like an idiot as she sat down and sipped her drink. Now it was obvious that something was wrong cos' how stupid does it look when having a conversation while one person is sitting and the other is just standing there! Anyway, she ended up asking me if I'd like to sit and I felt I had to tell her what the problem was, even though it was extremely embarrassing, so she went in to the house and brought me out one of her dining room chairs w/o arms. I was just glad that it was only the two of us. Anyway, my NSV happened last week when I went over to this same friends house and again we went to the back porch...and there where those same patio chairs; but this time without really thinking about it, I sat down!!! And low and behold - I FIT!!! It wasn't a perfect fit but it was comfortable enough that it didn't bother my thigh. I was so elated I even mentioned it to her and she was like "oh yeah, right I remember now...that's awesome!!!" ... So there it is, sorry for the long description but I wanted you to have the whole picture since it was an important moment!!! Peace to all. KKG

    It's working!

Hi everyone. When I last wrote in this thread I was one fill back from now. I have had 6 fills in 4 mo. Doc said he was getting tired of seeing me lol. He was kidding (I hope). In any case, he went full bore and gave me .05cc. After having posted here last time, my restriction lasted maybe 2 days. But this time....it seems here to stay for a bit. I can eat like 1/4 cup of food at a time and am not hungry. At first I was pb'ing and sliming a bit because it takes getting used to, this eating so much less. And you really really have to chew the food too. I'm very happy because I am losing like .5 pound every day or two. I've been off work for like 3 weeks (vacation and then sprained ankle) so I hope when I go back, someone gives me a nsv. Valerie

    Lower BMI'ers--2008!!!

AudricIan how are you doing? You've been quiet on this thread...is everything okay? Have you been losing or have you hit a standstill? Hey everyone let me know your latest NSV's, I need some encouragement as i'm losing so slow!! I did have a NSV moment yesterday though, I put on a pair of jeans that I wear regularly only to realize that HEY they were too big for me to continue to wear, so I pulled another (smaller size) out of my closet-still a little on the tight side, but i'm moving down the size charts ever so slowly!!!!
  21. good morning ladies I have missed a lot.. I do want to say... Laura and Judy - my heros... you guys look great... I went out after work friday night to have a job celebration drink and was going to be home by midnight.. well... 4 drinks and 2 shots of tequilla on top of that and 4am later... i got home... NSV... was hit on by a cute guy... and actually danced with him... and at my bar where I never ever do anything like that... another friend came over looking me up and down and gave me a great big hug and hold me how great I looked... anyway, needless to say i slept until 2 when I got up to get my car from the bar and go to work, I think I was still drunk at work... so after working all night last night... I got home and was so tired, took a little nap at 1 and got up at 4 to go pick up my neice who was completely wasted and needed a ride. She is just 21 and I'm so proud of her for not drinking and driving. I never laughed so hard in all my life... she is so funny and her friends they were cracking me up... so we are 1 minute from home passing a small town, i'm speeding, laughing hysterically and then the police lights turn on... OH SHIT... one of the friends says... my uncl is the capt of the police dept... i'll just tell them who I am.... I was freaking out... saying no don't do that... so he just pulled me over for my headlight, which has a short and I told him I was picking up the drunk kids, he was impressed ran my license to find out i'm clean and sent us on our way... no ticket nothing... so that is what I've been up to... Oh, Judy, every time you tell us about stroms and high winds it arrives here the next day... I hope you keep your ice storm.. How exciting... another curise Kat... Hope you fell better Jane - you too Terry - so glad you got a day to relax, you need it Tracyks & TracyK, Haydee, Michelle - hi there I know I'm forgetting someone... so hugs to you all off to go early b-day shopping to get some clothes for my new job... have my last week of full time pizza shop this week. It is going to feel good to get dressed every day.

    February Exercise Challege

Okay, went to the fill forum for research. Based on the owners manual for the lapband, I am way overdue for a fill based on my progress and eating. So it is decided! I am going to make an appointment on Monday to get a fill as soon as possible. It has been over four months since my last one, so I don't think it will be an issue on getting one. Maybe even an aggressive one. I keep telling myself that they only do them under flouro, so I am not too concerned with an unfill any longer. I'm going to run with this logic and see how it pans out. Also, a couple of NSV's to share. 1) I was at Walmart grocery shopping when I asked a gentleman where I could find yogurt covered raisins. He looked and looked and looked, but they just don't carry them. He finally said, "Well, as healthy as you look, I know you want exactly what you are asking for. I'd try Tom Thumb." I told him that saying I look healthy was the best compliment I'd ever received! And it's TRUE! It feels good to know that it meant so much to me. It's confirmation that I am not just doing this for asthetics. The asthetics are the gravy! 2) I took my measurements today and I lost half an inch off my bust (which I really think came from further fat loss in my back), half an inch off my hips, an inch off my abdomen...and I GAINED a half an inch in each bicep! (All other measurements were identical to January 15th.) So while I didn't lose as much as I like, I'm happy that I gained in my biceps, lost where I did, and happy that I didn't gain where I shouldn't.

    Who knew!!!!

Karen, Thanks for the tuna fish idea! I'm still anxious about starting real food today - I've tried yogurt and baby food, but I'm trying tuna tonight. I'm also curious if you added mayo or other fixin's to it? And again - our stories are matching up! I took off most of my steri's today in a long glorious finally allowed bath. Congrats on the NSV - I've told my hubby about what an NSV is and he's being a doll about pointing mine out for me. I just took a pair of size 22 jeans (my skinny jeans unfortunately) out of the dryer and put them right on without even unbuttoning them. Yay for that!

    Non-scale Victories!

Please tell us about your favorite, newest, or most memorable non-scale victory! We have many little victories in the war on obesity and I think it is important to recognize as many of them as we can to sustain us when we get in a rut. That's where I am, stuck in a rut! I am trying to remember some of my NSVs to sustain me trough this, but it sure helps to hear from you guys too. Often times I can read them and go "Oh yeah, I can do that now too!". It really does help me and hopefully it will help others too. So let's hear them!

    Who knew!!!!

Jax-I'm 3 days away from mushies and your tuna experience sounds heavenly...LOL!! Did you mix it with a little mayo or just eat it plain? You sound like you are doing WONDERFUL in your recovery. I had my first post-op appt today and am feeling fab!! Got my first fill appt scheduled and just enjoy each new day of this journey. Looking forward to ramping up the exercise next week. Congrats on your NSV.....you'll be wearing itty-bitty chaps showing off your small booty in no time!! Keep me posted on your mushie delights!! Amy
