  1. ... Water and protein can kiss my butt!! There is no way I'm going to be able to get 60oz of water in, in a day. Or 60grams if protein!! I sip sip sip all day long and I'm lucky to get 20oz of water and 30grams of protein.

    Starbucks Unicorn Frappucino

It scares me to see young people sucking these down on the regular with no concern. I saw two teens walking to my boys' school last week with venti fraps in hand (one was unicorn one was caramel). Breakfast of champions? I think not!!

    2 weeks without Protein

I wish it was a mistake, it says very clearly no protein, no dairy, in big letters at the bottom. I think I will suffer through this week, and ask if I can "break" the rules post op, just so my body has something to help it heal!

    This is real!

MellyB, I recall the excitement you describe. For me, I felt the procedure ended up being a bit anticlimactic. I was in-n-out before I knew it and back to work, full speed, in about a week (but I've always healed fast and I tolerate pain like no one I know). My only advise to you, is once it's done and you've completely healed (after about a month) you may feel like you were never banded (depending on the band that you get). If that happens, don't worry, just go get a fill. I have a large capacity band and it took me 5 fills to get to where I am now...where I wanted to be all along. Looking back at it, I would have gone in sooner/more if only I had known. Other than that, no regrets whatsoever, and that's not really a regret anyway. My only true regret is that I didn't do this years ago!

    Help-4 fills and no results

I have had 5 fills (banded 2/3/10). I am up to 7cc in a 9cc band! I am not at that "sweet spot" but I can tell some little changes are happening with the band. I am down 39lbs since surgery. I had to have my Gallbladder out yesterday so my weight is up a little today with fluid retention. Hang in there. You did not say how many cc's you have?

  7. I am two weeks post op and leaving Wednesday on a 14-day car trip - Texas to Virginia - Virginia to the Georgia coast - Georgia to Orlando and then back to Houston. My surgeon suggests I take baby aspirin when my anti- blood clot shots are done and get out and move around regularly. Looking for guidance from your experience on travel after surgery. Any advice would be much appreciated.

    The guilt of not telling

I choose not to tell anyone other than my partner, therapist and PCP. She does not need to worry but you need to get to place of being ok with not telling her until after surgery. Do you have someone to be with you at the hospital it does help. If you worry too much you could always call her this night before and maybe just a one or two night will not tip her off to what is going on. You will have to tell her at some point you know how Granny's can be - they see you getting smaller - how are you going to handle it later? Do you have a hernia that is being repaired during surgery? You could tell her that is what you are having done for now so she will not worry too much. Deep breaths - this is for you and your health nd she will love you no mater what <3 - hang in there!!
  9. Hi, I was banded on 6/28 and that day I felt really good. Today I feel like I have to burp really bad when I stand up and I even ran to the bathroom 2 times today trying to vomit. Nothing comes up because I have not really eaten or drank anything. Please someone tell me this is normal and it will get better! I am taking my meds and put one of my antinausea rubs on a few hours ago. I took some advice and went and bought some Gas-X strips. That is when it made me want to vomit. I did feel like I was getting rid of some gas and did feel somewhat better afterward. But I go back to feeling the same way I was.

    ITCHY

Benadryl (children's liquid), warm bath with Aveeno oatmeal powder, calamine lotion & aloe Vera (after the bath). That's what my doctor recommended for me and it made me feel so much better. I had an allergic reaction to something in my chewable Vitamin that caused the severe itching and all-over rash that accompanied it. I still do the Aveeno bath at least once a week and it is heavenly! I would check with your doctor if your symptoms get bad and see what he recommends. Best of luck and I feel for you!

Looking for Lap Band to Sleeve Buddy

I also had my band removed, and had to wait 3 months. I was told is due to the scar tissue and it needed to heal before they do the sleeve, also insurance and you need to do some test over. I was sleeved on 8/10 and have lost 18 so far, I'm glad I did the revision, the band started giving me so much trouble and it begin to hurt. There is a 1500 calorie diet you can follow to help you maintain and not gain any weight, it was very hard for me and I found myself eating more, and more, I pray you can get it done soon, blessings to you all.
  12. Congratulations on such a great success. I have no recommendations on fatigue because I din't really experience that. Plus I had the benefit of taking 3 months off after surgery. I DID have hair loss. A lot but I started with a lot. My Doctor recommended Biotin supplements. I don't know about timing but it did stop within a couple of months and it has all grown back. Although it seems to have more curl in it. Keep the faith, and doing the work. It all gets better and better and better. Until one day soon. WOW you are going to feel sooo good and look sooo good. Ainslee

    Stall After 2 Weeks

What you are going through is so common, it has a name. The Dreaded 3 Week Stall. Totally normal, and happens to 99% of us. There are literally hundreds of threads in these forums about it. Fear not! It may last a week or 2, but if you keep doing what you are doing, you will start losing again as soon as it's over! Ms Mac says it best..."Stalls are like lovers. Your first won't be your last". Lol.
  15. I know it's early to Celebrate (or is it?) or maybe not enough to create a whole topic, but this might motivate people peeking through the endless pages of the forums! So I'm officially three months (and two days) out of my surgery, and I have lost 27kgs, which translates to 59,5248 pounds according to google! I am really glad I did this surgery for it has already changed many aspects of my life, it has taught me that life's pleasures do not only revolve around eating/drinking. I know the "path" is still veeery long and that it will not always be easy, but so far I am really pleased with the results. Of course I strictly follow my surgeon/doctors advice and I also do loads of sports : I swim twice a week (1,6 miles each time) and I go mountainbiking two to three times a week (depends on the amount of rain my place receives), around 20miles each time. Cheers everyone, and thanks to people that have been helpful on the forums !

    Flipped Port

I don't know that I really felt anything that would indicate it had flipped. I sleep on my right side and sometimes at night when I rolled over, I "thought" I felt the port but was not really sure. Some people I spoke too said they never feel their port and others do. My doctor is going to do an xray next week to confirm it flipped and then outpatient surgery if it has. I'm not nervous about the surgery - just frustrated that I will have to wait several weeks to have it done and then possibly wait for a fill. I'm ready to start really using my band!

    Flipped Port

I was banded on May 12th and my port flipped within the 2nd month. I had my port revision done on Aug. 26 in outpatient surgery. I was in and out. He moved port lower. So far, so good. He was able to remove the Fluid and replaced it during surgery. To keep me on track, he did a refill in three weeks. Alls is good now, I have about 5 cc in my band and actually went back last month to get a small unfill. I'm ready for another tomorrow.....I hope he finds it easy. Best wishes to you.

  19. Sherrie, Hubby & I were truck drivers, We both drove a total of about 18 years, about 2 of them together. One time before we met my hemmies (so much easier to spell that LOL) were bad that I went to a clinic & the Dr lanced it, then gave me pain med & antibiotic, well, antibiotics also tend to give me hemmies. (There are maybe 2 kinds I can take with no issues, that's it), well gee, guess what happened? I was back at the clinic the next day, and this was about a week before Christmas, luckily I was staying at a Comfort Suites practically across the street from the clinic because bumps & using the clutch to start & stop in a semi truck was murder LOL So next day I was back in there to have them lanced again. About 4 years ago we were in Colorado & they were REALLY bad, when they get bad hubby takes care of them (too tough with my weight), and I we were talking about taking me to the hospital. Finally the pain calmed down & I got some sleep. When it was my turn to drive I called my dispatcher & told her what was going on, I started driving, and even hubby was amazed at how loud I could yell in pain LOL Needless to say after a day or so they finally subsided. I had my family Dr refer me & the Dr that 1st did a colonoscopy, then removed my hemmies, was a good man & REALLY funny. When we went in he examined me, and when we were discussing the ectomy he said that I am going to want to punch him in the face every day for at LEAST 10 days. I had my surgery on Friday January 13th. Luckily he was having a good day LOL Needless to say, come January 17th, I was screaming so loud & crying so bad when I went to the bathroom that I surprised the police didn't show up at our door LOL I emailed him after about a week & told him that punch & face were not quite what I had in mind, kick & balls were more along what I was thinking at this point LOL Needless to say, when I told him that I needed to have an endoscopy done, he referred me to Dr Gabrielson, and when I told him about me having the sleeve done in 2011 (I didn't lose much weight) & that I get really bad heartburn & GERD that he told me that I am an excellent candidate to be fast tracked for the gastric bypass. So now I'm doing all the reading & trying to understand things. When I had the sleeve done I had it done in Mexico, so I didn't have to read or study anything, they told me to make sure I put myself into ketosis for 2 weeks prior to my surgery, then tell me what to eat post op & that was it. After that, at least in my case & the group I went with, they could have cared less, with the exception of getting the money from me. So basically that's my life story for the last 10 years LOL

    No Lose Skin?

Hello, I had my gastric sleeve surgery mid July and started weight training in September so almost 2 months now twice a week. Last night I noticed loose skin in the breast area do anyone have any advice/ideas/exercises on how to tone up the breast area? Please send me your thoughts I do not want to have breast surgery it took all my energy to have gastric sleeve surgery. Thanks for listening, Lee
  22. @ NancyDec20... I am so happy for YOU! You are right about men losing faster... my husband has been doing a Biggest Loser challenge sponsored by our city hospital as he is also heavy... since starting on Jan. 8th, he has lost about 30 lbs just be curbing his bad food habits and working out ONCE a week with a trainer for an hour! He is looking/feeling great with about 30 lbs to go, but it seems so easy for him... he recognizes that it IS different for us and wants me to be as happy and healthy as he is getting - we will just take different paths to that goal!
  23. Protein-rich Diet (Liver-Shrinking-Diet) Every patient who is preparing for surgical treatment of overweight should maintain a protein-rich diet. The diet should be started two weeks before the operation. Such a diet is characterized by a high Protein content, low fat content and reduced carbohydrate content. Reducing the glycogen stores in the liver leads to a considerable reduction in the size of this organ, which makes the surgical procedure easier for the surgeon. This makes the procedure safer and reduces the risk of complications during surgery. The protein-rich diet also leads to a reduction in body weight, mainly of fatty tissue, which improves the general conditions for a laparoscopic procedure to a great extent.
