It has Begun :(. My poor hair!
Tammylb replied to SparkleCat's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine has started coming out today also . I am 3 months and 1 week post surgery . I bought hair extensions clip in,Months ago but it takes time to put them in. I also purchased toppik products and started them today ! I hope it only last 90 days like most others ! ;( if your hair tangles like mine does , toppik conditioner doesn't untangle as well as other conditioner . Anyway as you cry about your hair loss I will be crying with you about mine -
This is me exactly! I was sleeved 7/11 and lost 15lbs and now the scale hasn't moved since Thurs. My Doc said don't be surprised if I hit a stall because our bodies are rebuilding muscle and as we all know..muscle weighs more than fat! I'm on mushies too and have been doing power walks, I guess I just expected the scale to keep plummeting! But, I know I'm losing inches and that I just have to be patient. Hard though when you're eating less than 900 calories a day, drinking lots of Water and exercising!

Im hungry :( :( :(
wrightstuff12 replied to donaboss's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am a little over 2 weeks out and I am hungry two. Still on liquids until Jan 9th. I am allowed yogurt & farina & strained Soups. It was tough over the holidays with company, sweets, good food, and now snowbound. But I thought the hunger monster would have been surgically removed, lol. -
Pms, A Stall, And Halloween Candy In The House
vonego82 replied to Ready4success's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
well you wouldn't be human if you didn't think those thoughts from time to time! just hold on because everyone here is on the same boat with you also, stalls are good for you. that means that your body is saying, "hey the heck, why aren't you feeding me 1800+ calories like you used to!" so your body holds the food and water for a little longer to see if you are going to feed it soon. but stalls last usually 2-3 weeks after that you see a great deal of pounds lost appr. 7+ best wishes!! -
I second Betsy's plug for excersise. It's just too good a thing not to do it. It's tough to get started, but it becomes second nature. It becomes just part of your day. Start out slow and gradually increase the intensity and/or duration. When I stalled, I increased the speed on the treadmill and the scale started moving again. I lost 107 pounds in about 10 months. You can do it!

Just got home... Pain isn't too bad...
Betty1971 replied to FINFAN3DP's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I did not have much pain at all. This biggest issue was gas. Move around as much as possible to keep the blood flowing and the gas moving congrats and best wishes. The first week was the roughest as far as getting in the fluids. Just remember this is just a little stage and soon it will be just a memory. Small sips to stay hydrated is the best thing you can do, keep moving to keep the blood flowing and the gas moving and just a tip from old nurse in me, pain meds are constipating, less is more as far as they are concerned. Liquid Tylenol or the powdered dissolvable Tylenol is super helpful and not constipating, I found that super helpful with the incisional pain while I was healing up!!! -
Hello Everyone - I'm one year 3 months post op, and I've probably had depression most of my life. I've never tried any medication to deal with my depression, just "suffered through it" most of my life. I decided recently that enough is enough and informed my PCP that I wanted to try meds. She prescribed Prozac. Anyone have any experiences post-op dealing with Prozac or any other antidepressants? I know most people are looking to come off meds after bariatric surgery - not go ON them.

I started taking them today. I know it takes a few weeks for the medication to kick in, so here's to patience. -

Carnie Wilson Had Lap Band Surgery.....
54Shirley replied to Yve's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
She gained it back after she had a child. I bought 3 of her cookbooks, and they are really good ! She should have better success with the band though, only now because she has 2 procedures going on for her. So I wish her the best of luck. Someone should contact her, and tell her to join lapbandtalk.com Would be interesting in talking to her. -
Help!! Banded 4weeks ago and still having pain at the port site!!
chocolate diamond posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, I was banded March 18,2009. Almost 4 weeks have passed and I am still having pain at my port site. I only have this pain when I am sitting or when I rise up from sitting. This is when I feel the most pain at the port site. It appear to be getting worse, should I be worried? Is this normal? Is there any one out there who has experienced this discomfort also? Will it go away? -
I know how you feel. I am 4 weeks post op and I went they the same thing after my surgery I think for me it was realizing everything had changed. I mentally knew it would change but when it actually hit me that it had changed, I just had feelings of sadness. It does get better. Going back to work may help you feel some better. Sitting around the house with all kinds of time to think made me depressed. When I went back to work I was so busy I didn't have time on my hands like I did when I was home. Just be sure not to overdo it. And try to keep your eating and drinking schedule as close to normal as possible. Good luck with work. We may be at different stages in our journey but we are all in the journey together.

Thanks chris54, that seems like the list I heard before at doctors office in a group sign up after aproval, I speak to him one on one again next week. Also I'll consider what every else seems to like best, like gummies too and maybe not so much the bartiatric Vites.

Today is January 16th. I didn't lose anything last week, but when I stepped on the scales this week I was pleased to see a 2-3 pound loss that would put me at a 52 pound weight loss since my surgery in mid August. I am very pleased with that! I have been out shopping with my Christmas money! I can now pick out medium sized shirts and tops and need to buy some new jeans, probably size 14s as my size 16s are too loose. I have gone from 230 to 178-79. I have been using the treadmill about 40 minutes at a time about 3 times a week. I need to get on that tread mill more often as my weight loss has slowed down. I am due to see Dr. Avila on Friday for another fill as I haven't had one since mid October. It is so much more fun to shop for clothes now and I don't have to try on every little thing and I can shop the sale racks with more options, which I have done since Christmas. I even bought regular flannel p.j.s with tops and pants which I normally do not buy because the pants are too small for the tops usually, in order for them to fit my body shape. I usually buy night gowns to avoid this problem. Not any more!!! I am enjoying my two pair of large pjs, but bought a medium size for next winter as I continue to lose more pounds. I can put these large in the dryer and shrink these a bit if I need to as they are all cotton, for next winter.

2 Months Post Op, May Be Pregnant
horsegirl315 replied to Kimmi'sMommy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you suspect you are pregnant, make sure you are taking your vitamins and getting balanced nutrition (which is probably currently better than you were eating before). Then, call your Dr immediately. I don't want to scare you, but I was just reading last night that nutrition-related birth defects occur in the first two weeks of pregnancy, which is why it is so important to plan your pregnancies, and if you THINK you may be pregnant, see your Dr immediately. Don't wait. Let us know how you make out! -
What Are Your Best Tips For Eating Slowly?
lml32937 replied to AngieG0410's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am right handed... I use my Left hand to eat.. very awkward at first but forces you to go slow- I also put my fork down between bites and i chew chew chew everything until there is nothing left. It is a habit you have to learn- like no straw and no drinking with food etc.. it takes time but you will get it and then it will become 2nd nature andyou wont realize how slow you are eating.... if you are with others just listen and observe... take 1 bite for every 3-4 of theirs- you will be amazed at how little you eat and how much they eat too.. actualy pretty mind blowing... -
Question about reaching that ever elusive "Sweet Spot"
CareBear09 replied to OneYearLater's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm having the same problem and feeling the same way as you. I was banded in June and have lost 44 lbs, but in the last 2 months I lose and gain the same 2-3 lbs. I keep a journal and follow weight watcher points. I've had 4 adjustments, but don't think I have my sweet spot yet. It's frustrating because I am trying real hard, not to say I haven't cheated, but it wasn't like I over induldged.... -
Question about reaching that ever elusive "Sweet Spot"
Nicole74 replied to OneYearLater's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am feeling the same you are! I was banded July 30th and have lost 40lbs..I have had 2 fills and my third is scheduled for Nov 30th on my 4mnth anniversary. Right now I have VERY little restriction. I can eat normal and never had any issues with eating anything, pbing, sliming or getting stuck. I am very frustrated. I have been going to the gym 4x a week taking 2 hour long classes back to back. I hvn't lost any weight in several weeks. Now, I have to admit a day here or there I have eat things I shouldnt have or eat alot more than I should have but I cannot wait to have restriction!! I know that will make the difference in my weight loss and help me out. I too fee like Iv lost about just as much weight as I did when I was on Weight watchers....people do keep telling me I will get there and it will get easier once I have good restriction but it just seems like its taking so much longer than I expected to get to that point. I think to answer your ultimate question, once you have good restriction the point is you will more than likely keep it off unlike all the times we have dieted in the past. Not to mention if you dont really have restriction its easier to fall off the wagon and eat alot more than you should or can! Hang on girlfriend..your not alone! -

Newbie Sleever / 1St Stall / Help
sleeve_sister replied to Yasmine's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Have you been measuring yourself? I've only lost 3 lbs in the last 2 weeks last week I lost none, but I started measuring myself and I've list 4 inches in the bust and 3 in the waist. Even if your not losing weight your losing inches. Try that to keep from getting frustrated about the weight stall. -

Sleeved yesterday4/25/14!
northtexasslim replied to Bigmommatojacob's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Fluids are very important, I am 9 weeks out but my first postop appointment they walked me down to the ER. I was severely dehydrated and my heart rate was out of control from the dehydration. So do your best to get in fluids! Good luck! It is fun to see the weight come off!
