2 weeks liquid nearly done! Confused as to what to eat next
Inner Surfer Girl replied to carla1869's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
When I was on my soft food stage I ate a lot of yogurt and cottage cheese. Do you have a refrigerator at work? If not, you could take an insulated lunch bag with an ice pack. -
What comes after clear liquids?!?!
beachgal2935 replied to StephOnTheMove's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@StephOnTheMove At Mayo, we were only on clear liquids for the first couple of days and then "Blenderized" pourable liquids until day 14. Check out the pics. One of my favorite creations was taking 2 Dannon Light & Fit Greek Yogurts, adding 4 oz. of Premier vanilla Protein shake and blasting it in my Nutribullet to make lil smoothies. It made 3 - 1/2 cup servings at 12g of protein each. Instead of drinking them, which I could have, I'd dip my lil baby spoon in it and lick it off. Made me feel like I was eating something instead of always drinking - LOL! Oh the mind games we play -
It's that wonderful time of year when there are pumpkins everywhere. I'd like to share my Protein packed crustless pumpkin pie recipe for those who'd like to try it. It's simple and delicious, especially for only 77 calories and 9g of protein!!! Crustless Protein Pumpkin Pie 1 - 15 oz can pumpkin (not pie filling) ½ cup egg whites 1½ cups Premier Protein vanilla shake ¾ cup Splenda ½ tsp salt 2 Tbs pumpkin pie spice Preheat oven 400°. Beat all ingredients together until smooth and creamy. Pour in pie pan sprayed with non-stick cooking spray. Bake at 400° for 15 minutes, then turn down to 375° and bake for 45 minutes or until a knife inserted in center comes out clean. You can also pour into 16 (sprayed with non-stick cooking spray) cupcake tins. I like using silicone inserts. It is best served cold and can even be frozen. Serving size is 3 minis or 1/6 slice of pie. Sometimes I'll top a slice with Greek yogurt (pic) but Nutrition info is for pie only. Nutrition Facts Servings: 6 Calories 77 Fat 1g Carbs 10g Sugars 6g Fiber 4g Protein 9g

Any August 31st Sleevers?
PamInWA replied to dorothy510's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm an 8/31 gal - I am doing fine, increased my calories last week from around 800, attempting to hit 1200 but I usually only make it to 1100. I eat Greek yogurt, scrambled eggs, cashews, pulled pork, chicken salad, fish, deli lunch meat, cottage cheese, some protein bars... as long as I don't eat too fast, things are going down pretty well. Struggling on water but making a valiant effort. It's going to be a while before this feels "normal". -
Hey there September sleevers! Any one out there?
46soon replied to notforthefaint's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm down 25 since September 2nd. It's amazing! I actually have some trouble eating anything other than soft foods. It feels like it gets stuck after a few bites in my chest. I love cottage cheese and Dannon fit 'n light Greek Yogurt. The vanilla coconut is delicious, only 80 calories and high protein. I've tried salmon and shrimp. Maybe I'm eating too fast odd. Love my sleeve! I started to work out this past week. I can't wait to get to onederland! -

Yes you should be able to add pudding, yogurt and some cream soups. -
Hi all, I'm 15 days post-op and am hoping for some insight into how others have transitioned through the phases of the post-op diet. In phase one (liquid only), my materials from my bariatric program seemed to say not to follow the 30/30 drinking rule, but instead just alternate sipping Water and shakes all day. I found it much easier on my pouch to do it this way and not drink too much of a shake at once. Now that I'm moving to purée foods, yogurt and such, it says to follow the 30/30 rule. Right now I can't seem to eat enough purée food to get even half my Protein in, so I've been mixing the two phases together. I'm still not following the 30/30 rule with shakes cause I find it difficult to get enough down that way. It's like once I'm full, I don't want anything for hours, so it's hard to have more than three "meals" per day. How long did it take you guys to be able to eat enough to get your protein from food? Did that happen in the purée stage? If not, did you start following the 30/30 rule with shakes too? How did you make it work?

I have no restriction 2 1/2 weeks out, can eat normal portions. WHY?!
BLERDgirl replied to Nomorethickchick's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I took my omeprazole all at once since I only had issues in the evening. I would take it around 2 -3 ish and like you had a small snack then a sensible dinner. Early on I started beginning my day with a high protein shake. Scoop of Protein powder + ¼ - ½ cup of FAGE0% greek yogurt. I also occasionally added nut butter, a tiny bit of rolled oats or pureed spinach. It helped me meet protein goals early on, kept my calories low, and kept me fuller. You may need to eat more filling foods. -

@@JamieLogical that's good to know! I can easily get in 80-90 grams if I eat and drink a Protein shake. Its not hard at all. I had a Protein Shake and a 1/2 yogurt and that was 40 grams right there. I guess this is where the larger stomach benefits you. I like your story, -

Thanks, JamieLogical. That makes me feel a lot better. I am already taking 40mg of the Omeprazole but I take it all at once around 11:30am to get me through the afternoon hungries. Maybe I should take it one in the AM and one around 5pm? I was hungry just now and had a high-Protein greek yogurt and feel better. Should be able to have a really light supper now and go to bed early. :-) -
To the OP -- re "snacking" ... Yes, I snack, by which I mean I have 2 Snacks a day, e.g., berries and Greek yogurt, an apple and cheese. What I do not do is "snack all day" -- and that's called more accurately "grazing." When you "graze" you just mindlessly nibble all day, and most people who do that have no idea how much they're eating. Structured, protein-rich snacks - yes. Grazing, no!

How was your 5:2 day today?
Oregondaisy replied to Oregondaisy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
The main dairy that I love is cheese and Greek Yogurt. those would be hard to give up. It would be nice if produce lasted longer. In order for me to eat a lot of veggies, it means going to the store often. I hate grocery shopping. I could eat frozen but they taste icky to me. I don't understand Amazon. I need to figure it out because I am paying for amazon prime and I never see anything on there. I watched one season of Girls on there, when I was still going to Bill's house, but it made me mad that they didn't have more seasons. Are all Amazon shows like that, where they only show the first season. I have it on my smart tv but I am not sure if I have to do something else to get the full benefits. I haven't read that thread, but someone must have made her way too big of a sleeve. There is no way I could have eaten that much when I was first out. Dr. Pompa is known to make her sleeves way too big. -
Sugar free or sugar
FocusOnMeNow replied to Biloxigirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's a slippery slope. You don't really want to get back on that hormonal/insulin roller coaster do you? What do you mean by moderation? If you mean the naturally occurring sugar in fruit and lactose in dairy which also comes with nutrients and at least for the fruit, some fiber then enjoy in moderation but what purpose would adding extra empty calories with no nutrients serve? Of course we should all have the occasional treat, but we must keep them truly occasional or else they can turn into a habit, which for me turned into an addiction. Personally I allow myself one single serving of Hagen Daz once per month and also the few grams of sugar in the Dannon strawberry cheesecake Greek yogurt on a nearly daily basis. It's yummy and just enough with protein so it doesn't spoke the insulin. I for one am not getting back on that roller coaster ever again. -

@@larac05 I hear you! I can start mashed potatoes, oatmeal, yogurt, unsweetened applesauce, and cottage cheese today. I'm nervous but hopefully it goes well -
I've snacked on some dry cereal occasionally. Also added <1/4 cup to some yogurt, just to have some crunch. But it's really a very infrequent thing. A very conscious decision to have the extra carbs. I don't think carbs are evil. I just think too many are, especially if they make me feel bad. Can't imagine having a bowl of cereal with milk! How things have changed

I am about 5 weeks post-op and also have grown tired of Protein shakes and powders. I have tried to grow my list of foods with protein and eat them instead of shakes. Here are some of my current protein foods: - Salmon - Tunafish - Hummus - eggs - Greek Yogurt - Scallops - String cheese - Slow Cooked chicken, Pork, Beef I agree that it is tough to meet the Water goals when you stick to the 30/30 rule. One thing that helps me is to have a glass/mug of crystal light at the ready, so 30 minutes after a meal it is there to remind me to drink.

H Everyone! I'm 12 days post op and my recovery (RNY) is going well. I am currently at Stage 3 and am tolerating foods well. I have a question that I am hoping others can help me with. I constantly feel hungry even after eating/drinking. Is this normal? I am eating Soups, yogurt (no chunks). I have been drinking mostly Protein shakes (Carnation Instant Breakfast NSA) and drinking Water or Powerade Zero. I am able to eat 4 oz at a time with no issues and could possible eat more but I do not. From what I am reading from others, 4 oz at a time seems like a lot. I am sticking to the foods at my stage for the most part (I had a spoonful of rice the other day which I chewed like 30 times before swallowing). How much liquid is everyone getting in at a time? I take four sips max at a time but feel like I could take more. How long do you wait between sips? I guess my concern is that my pouch is bigger than it should be. I dont know how the mechanics of all this works so I plan on broaching this with my PA when I have my post op appt on Wednesday. Any feedback/insight from others is appreciated. TIA! :-)

Hi everyone. I know there is some debate over Pro Yo frozen yogurt with Protein and if it is the right source of protein for us however I am struggling to get my protein in. It seems like some protein is better then none at all. Does anyone know of a place I can order this and have it shipped? I checked the website for a list of places that carry it and can't find anything in Indiana. Thanks!

I have no restriction 2 1/2 weeks out, can eat normal portions. WHY?!
Nomorethickchick posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my sleeve done on 9/17 and I asked for a smaller size sleeve because I am am aware of restretching the sleeve. I was given a 40 bougie with an "oversew" to 36 I am presuming. I wanted and asked for a 32 but he has never done a 32 in his practice, he does 40's. He oversewed it smalller because I asked and asked for a small tight sleeve. Well, I woke up from surgery hungry. I got liquids down from the very start with seemingly no interruption or restricton. So the office told me to wait until I have solid foods- that that would make a difference. So I moved through yogurts and soups- still no restriction. Yesterday and today, I had minced canned chicken and minced canned tuna. Both were 5 ounce cans. Both days I ate all of it with no need to pause and no feeling that I was pushing it. And I still feel like I could eat more but I'm not. I feel like I am starving myself to lose weight. Obviously- I should not have this kind of ability at 2 weeks out to get anything like this amount in. From what I read, 1-2 ounce limitation is normal for this stage. Not 5 ounces. Please advise I am scared SHITLESS that I Will have to go back for a revision surgery when I didn't do anything! -
Please, help I'm starving....

I was always hungry too when on broth. When you are able to eat yogurt, that is when it helped me a little. Once you can get on mushy foods, it gets much much better.
