Hi Everyone, Well today is the day in which I stared my stage 3 phase "puree" diet. I decided for Breakfast I'll have some Greek Yogurt in which I've never tried before and I might add that it was the most vile thing that I've ever had. So I've decided instead of the Greek Yogurt I'll have Peanut Butter for breakfast. Does anyone feel the same way I do about the Yogurt? If so, what are you eating to take its place. Have a beautiful day. Prada.

3 weeks out and horrible diarrhea
SassySwede posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Is this within the norm? I'm 3 weeks post op, and following guidelines from NUT. I'm eating Greek yogurts, protien shakes, soft chicken, pudding consistency potato, babyfood carrots, getting my fluids in (mostly anyway.. terrible Water nausea!) I've been having horrible continuing bouts of very loose (Liquid consistency) diarrhea for about a week I'd say. I've been cleared to eat plain oatmeal and cream of wheat, but haven't yet. Is this common, or am I destined to have a continuing affair with the bathroom. It's Sunday, so can't call....anyone now if we can take Immodium or anything else that could help?? Advice...personal experience, please!? -

I mix with plain Fage yogurt and dip apples or cucumber slices in it, or just eat eat. I've also mixed it with oatmeal and that was good for a treat.

5 months out, 113 lbs down! With Photos
warrior68 replied to warrior68's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
My food plan is simple, I follow the rules, Protein first, then veggies if I feel like it, Breakfast is a Protein shake 53 grams of protein, that hold me till lunch or snack which can be just a chobani yogurt, or a cheese stick, sometimes both, for a snack I will have 5 or 6 cherries, or a small handful of almonds, dinner is chicken, fish, or beef, and I have a mint chocolate skiny cow ice cream sandwich every night. I have made some mistakes along the way, the occasional candy bar, or slice of pizza with the guys, but for the most part I try to be very good about what I eat. My work outs are pretty harsh, but here is a typical week for me. Every day without fail I walk 3 to 8 miles with the dog, I do not miss a day, EVER! Three or four days a week I do CrossFit, its insane, and it hurts, it hurts a lot! the other three or four days I go to the gym and walk, jog, run on the tread mill. I get on the airdyne bike I do 90 second sprints on the bike followed by 60 seconds of slower rest type pedaling, I do this as long as I possibly can, I mean until it hurts. I try to row at least two if not three 500 meter runs on the rowing machine, then I attempt that damn Jacobs ladder three or four times until failure. I also do a couple nautilus circuits every week. When I have the time and weather is nice I ride my bike to the gym rather than driving to get in more exercise. Thats pretty much my evening workout, I also do some sit ups, push ups, and assisted chin ups in the mornings. To work out like this takes a lot of time, and effort, I have cut back on my internet surfing, cancelled all my movie channels, and missed out on some social events. Its is so worth it to me, I have caught women checking me out, I have had two girls in a car at stop light chat me up, and on top of all that my health is great now, and i feel great! -

Between 12 and 3 pm- Walking treadmill for 40 mins. 2 pm. 16 oz Water with Crystal Light and scoop of protein powder. Between 3 and 6 pm -Walking Treadmill 40 mins 6 pm Yogurt (triple zero) or runny mashed potatoes or strained Soup 8 pm sf jello, pudding or Popsicle. Take Calcium chewables. This will change when I go back to work, but for now, it provides a routine I can stick to! Sent from my SM-G935V using the BariatricPal App -
if you were just banded on 9/16 you shouldn't even be trying to eat solid foods yet. I had mine on 09/17 and I'm on a full liquid diet for two weeks. Yogurts, strained cream soups, sugar free puddings, things like that. Your doctor should have told you not to try anything solid for awhile. Wait a few weeks and then try it again.

Cottage cheese with sweet chilli, or with chipotle. Bariatricpal soups - the variety pack is fantastic. Yogurt smoothies - the Internet is full of fantastic flavour options. Mostly for me, variety really mattered to keep me on track... Best of luck.

What to eat, drink?
Stephen2 replied to northstar9148's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Premier Protein ready-made shakes (Costco) have been a very helpful tool for me. Chicken broth and bone broth were very helpful for me when trying to get a break from the consistent "sweetness" of most protein supplements. Also Greek yogurt, but stay away from formulations that contain more grams of sugar than protein. -
For me it has been as follows: 1. Protein, Water, popsicle 2. Walk, walk, walk 3. Water 4. This website and water 5. Nap Repeat, repeat, repeat.... I'm in this continuous loop and try to stay positive. I'm quite certain this has been the toughest thing I've ever done but I'm hopeful it's going to get better. Good luck to you - you are stronger than you know! On a side note, so excited that I get to move to full liquids tomorrow. I'm dreaming of plan Greek yogurt, blended Soups, thin oatmeal and applesauce. You will be there soon.

Disneyland 7 months post op? Good or bad idea?
lsereno replied to gingerRN's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went to Japan at 7 months out and had a great time. It took longer for my energy to return (I was tired for first four months), but by 7 months I felt great. I took Protein powder and a shaker cup, and beef Jerky. You can drink Protein shake in the morning and another at night if you are having a hard time getting protein in while on vacation. If you have a hotel with a fridge, those little cups of greek yogurt and great and convenient too. Also, light cheese sticks, low fat salami, crackers, little cans of v-8, and applesauce cups are all good choices for the hotel room. Have fun! Lynda -
I'm feeling good! I can do the stairs to and from my apartment pretty comfortably now. I'm living off of water, crystal light, protein shakes (which I'm getting really sick of), and greek yogurt. Tonight, I'm having cream of tomato soup! My mothing in law made it for me and she said she took special care blending it to make sure there are no chunks.

Banded Monday, Diet Questions
honk replied to pbmls223's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I could have smooth soups like tomato, sweet red pepper, squash. I could not have yogurt until week 3. I did use a hand blender on the yogurt to mince up the fruit; and added milk since greek yogurt is really thick. Week 2 I was having yogurt so I had soup and protein shakes. When I moved to mushies I would have the soup wait an hour and have my protein. -
So, I was banded Monday and have been doing Clear liquids since. Tomorrow I can move to full liquids: Protein shakes, cream of whatever strained, yogurt. What was on your full liquid diet?

Purée days - how do you get enough protein?
GassyGurl replied to ValerieLynn's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I ate buffalo chicken dip, ricotta bake, pimento cheese and yogurt. Google for recipes. Everything was already soft, so I didn't puree. I just chewed, and chewed. Sent from my XT1254 using BariatricPal mobile app -
Everyone is most definitely different....im on "full" liquids...things like yogurts...sugar free puddings...optifast shakes/soups...etc. And the struggle has been real for me. Not eating solids yet and the liquids are filling me up quick. I am only able to take in about 1-2 oz. of liquid and I have to wait 30-60 min. before I can "sip" again. I am definitely not complaining...this is a Gastric Bypass that was revised into a Sleeve. I went out and bought nectar Carribean Breeze Protein mix and the Isopure Protein Watee ...like someone posted earlier they have 40 grams per bottle. Hoping these will help break up the chocolate and carmel shake routines. I wake up sipping....go to sleep sipping...but its hard to get at least 80 grams in per day ....but again Im thankful.

I was thinking along the lines of string cheese and yogurt for the hotel. Do you think protein rtd shakes would be good to cart around with me all day? -
I'm was sleeved at Kaiser Fremont on 5/17 by Dr. Hahn. He used a 40 and oversewed the staple line. At 7 weeks out, I have restriction on solid Protein of about 1/4 cup. I can eat 1/2 cup of Soup or yogurt. I cannot gulp drinks, even Water. Lynda

I'm glad I'm not alone. I feel the walking is no use, my stomach tightens up when I walk. So far I am trying various liquids and have tried yogurt n cottage cheese and all was well. For the first two days both #1 and #2 was happening but now #2 hasn't happened for a few days. Trying to get any gas out is a pain as well. I also found that warm drinks help loosen things up. Buy definitely doesn't help with the dry mouth!

If you must eat at a fast food place, these are some of my "go too" items: McD: order just the egg from the mcmuffin, yes you can do that. Or order the sandwich and throw away the muffin. Filet of fish with no bun, or throw it away. BK: jr bacon burger, no bun Wendy's: small chili with cheese tacobell: pinto's w/cheese & a side of meat. chick fil a: yogurt parfait, side egg, chicken sandwich and throw away the bun, kid 4 piece nugget w/fruit (not fries) Cane's: i order one strip with one sauce. Chili's: my go-to is the soup that's just a few i can think of -
3 wks post op VGS, Hungry, Hungry and still Hungry
queendeborahbee replied to Chris Lee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 3 weeks out too and experienced the stall, but my inches were dropping.... It is really important to eat Protein first, and at this point we really should only have room for protein. Try to get in at least 80gm of protein before eating anything else. My surgeon allows NO CARBS! Hey, we never ate them we were dieting before, right! The suggestions below are the only thing we are suppose to eat during puree. Suggestions: low fat greek yogurt of light greek yogurt, (lemon, vanilla, plain) watch sugar content, low fat cottage cheese- (whipped or small curd) scrambled egg whites, pureed chicken, turkey, tuna fish, salmon or canned chicken ( add fat free mayo or greek yogurt to make easy to digest, fat free of skim ricotta cheese-add tomato sauce or sweeten with cinnamon and splenda), low fat hummus, pureed black beans or fat free refried beans, laughing cow light cheese wedges. If you eat these, even with a 1/2 cup three times a day, I think you will be fine. I also agree are you taking an anti-acid. If I forget I know because I feel hungry, but its not hunger, its acid. Pepcid complete is what I take twice a day. -
Need encouragement

Thanks. I found this great recipe for egg salad made with Greek yogurt and avocado. I will make that for lunch. I really do need to eat more! I appreciate your response. -
Chewing food really good is not the same as a mushie/puree diet. I don't mean this to sound harsh but you have two choices- stick to your post op diet as directed or risk messing up your stomach and band. The post op diet is there for healing, not losing, and it's imperative that you stick to your doctor's instructions to give your newly sutured stomach time to heal. Hunger is normal. It sucks but we all went through it and survived. You will survive too. Stick to your puree food. Blending things like plain yogurt and cottage cheese into cream soups not only helps control hunger but gives you extra Protein too. You could even put chili through the blender. Really, anything that is the consistency of baby food or you put through a blender to make it that consistency is allowed on the puree/mushie stage. Best wishes.

I Have A Question
OneWritersSoul replied to saddie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use the Old El Paso Fat-Free ones. Once I warm them (1/4c at a time since I'm the only one eating them) I top them with Sargento's Reduced-fat Colby Jack cheese then microwave until cheese begins to melt. After, I stir in either Pace Picante sauce or my own homemade salsa (thank you Jesus for making me Latina and for my Ninja!) and top with a teaspoon to a tablespoon of Fage 0% Greek yogurt- it's higher protein than sour cream and still gives me that creaminess. Oh and no gas!
