Yes I am very proud of myself too!! It was funny I called by BF before he went to work to share the good news and after celebrating with me for a minute he then tisked me for weighin in early. Then admitted that he too had jumped on the scale this morning. We are both only supposed to weigh in on Saturdays. But he had lost another 2 pounds as well. We both laughed that we cheated on our weighin days but both had good results. As for beating yourself up, I do think that age does have something to do with it. I am not as good as you girls are about not giving myself a hard time. I got to the high end of my calorie range yesterday so was going to make sure to go way low today. How dumb is that. I was within my range so I should be fine. Guilt....GRRRRR still working on that one. Janet I too have found though that somethings are just not worth the calories. We went to some friends' house for a party and I was going to allow my self 1 dessert, but when I bit into it, it just didn't taste as good as it looked. So I just didn't eat it. Lindaa I too love food, but my tastes have really changed. A lot of it is mental, but I will take it. Because i don't eat a lot of sweets when I had 1 piece of Valentine's candy it actually made me kind of nauseous because it was soooooo sweet. If someone told me to choose between my pure protein bars and reeses peanut butter cups, I would probably pick the protein bar, because I just like it better now. Sonya - Good luck with the fill. I get mine in 1 week. I am a little nervous considering how tight I was the last time, but I am going tough it out. I REALLY want to lose these last 19 pounds. See ladies I am motivated again...so much for going into maintenance. Well I have to kick these kids out so that I can go to the gym before the volleyball game tonight. Talk about an NSV, when I mentioned in the emails that we were sending out that I needed to go to the gym before we could get together and practice as a team everyone else in the group said they were blowing off the gym tonight because they would get a workout in the game. It just isn't enough for me. Patting myself on the back for that one! Will check in later tonight or tomorrow!

    Non-Scale Victories!!

My wedding rings are really loose! Not loose enough to fall off yet, but I find I have to pay attention to them more if they are in water, and take them off when giving the kids a bath. also, my husband said the other night while we were cuddling it was like holding onto a different person. I have (only) lost 22lbs. The NSV's are what keep me going.

    NSV (Non Scale Victories)

Here are two quick ones....yesterday we went to Outback for lunch. Whoever designed their booths must be an avowed 'fattie hater', because they are HORRIFIC!! I've been able to get in them since a couple of months after surgery (couldn't EVEN before!), but getting out was not always a pretty sight and often required my husband's assistance. Yesterday, I was up and out of the booth before HE was and we both looked at each other with shock, then began to LOL!!! The other one made us LOL, too!!! A couple of weeks ago I noticed (don't know when it actually happened!) that my navel has gone from looking like this --> O to looking like this --> | !!!! Now that's not at all 'pretty', but, it'll be 'fixed' eventually, but for now, it's a big NSV......SOMETHING had to have happened for that dramatic change!

    New NSV for me!!!

Hi there everyone. So...I'm off to Las Vegas tomorrow (Woo Hoo) and headed to Macy's to see if there were any good sales. Well...I came across a cute little black dress...you know every woman needs a little black dress. Well...the only size that was left was a size 12. I knew it wouldn't fit, but went into the fitting room to see how tight it was. Stepped into it...zipped it up and wouldn't you know it...I was off to the register to buy my new SIZE 12 dress. Oh my goodness...I cannot remember the last time that I could actually fit into a size 12. Maybe that's the start of my good luck and I'll win big in Vegas. Wish me luck!!!!
  6. I just had to share! Several years ago, I got down to about 240. I tried on a pair of jeans from Lane Bryant that were a size 20 and was VERY surprised that they fit. Then I remembered that Old Navy has size 20, so my best friend and I went there to see if I fit into them. She's about a size 0, so I felt okay being in there because even if they didn't fit, I could pretend we were shopping for her. Well, they didn't fit, and, before I got down to that size, I started gaining weight again. It never happened, and my friend went back to Indiana (where she lives). Well, last Friday I was going by Old Navy again. I am only about 10 pounds lower than where I was before. I must be losing weight again because (and I have to put the caps lock on for this): NOT ONLY DID I FIT INTO THEIR CLOTHES, BUT I WASN'T EVEN THE LARGEST SIZE!!!!!!!!!! (okay, caps lock over). I couldn't believe it! I had to resist the urge to buy everything in the store! Okay, that's my coolest non-scale victory for me ever and I had to share. Thanks for reading!

I loved your story Jackie! Sucks that you got so angry, but great that you used it as a motivator. Even better that you recognised your bad eating habit BEFORE you buried your face in the cake. Terrific NSV. Go you!

    Non-Scale Victories!!

Way to go Chrisann, Ang, Nukechik and Ninja! I love NSVs! They make you feel so good. Seeing everyone's achievements gives me so much inspiration. We all know how great it feels to see that our weight loss doesn't just affect the number on the scale! I posted this in the general NSVs thread but I'll post them here too! I added some more while I was at it! When I sit in a chair I find myself crossing my legs without even thinking about it! And I can sit like that for a while, unlike before, I could barely cross them and after 30 seconds it hurt to keep them crossed. I actually have the following body parts (or at least now I'm 100% sure): A neck! A hip bone! Collar bones! A rib cage! Also, the chairs in my classrooms are the chairs with an attached desk, which are not big people friendly by any means! Last year I could barely sit comfortably in them. Now I have plenty of room to move and I can even cross my legs under them! My highest size ever was a 26 and 3x top and now I'm down to an 18 and 1x top! And....I actually bought an XL sweater from the Misses department!!!! I'm not quite an XL in tops yet, but this one fit, so who cares, it wasn't a plus size!:w00t::w00t: And apparently, my feet shrunk too! I've been a size 11 since I was 14 and now all my shoes are big on me. I think I'm a 10.5 now, which is kind of an annoying size to find, but I did just buy a size 10 yesterday! I also don't get out of breath going up the stairs. I can walk briskly and talk at the same time without getting out of breath. I ran for 15 min :cool2::ohmy: on 4.5mph! When I started exercising in August I could barely jog at 3.5 mph for more than 15 seconds without getting out of breath. Now I have so much energy. I had to move the driver's seat closer to the steering wheel. I'm hoping to go on vacation this summer and I'm not scared to sit in the seats on the airplane. I'm actually looking forwards to seeing how tightly I can pull the seatbelt (instead of worrying that it won't fit), how much room I will have in between me and the tray (now that I'll actually be able to lower the tray table), and how much room I'll have between me and the person next to me (instead of feeling bad that I'm squishing them) And my BMI is below 35 now, which means I officially don't qualify for insurance covered surgery anymore! WAHOO! K guys, I wanna hear more NSVs! Keep 'em coming! Each one counts, no matter how small. Look for them, acknowledge them, be proud of them!! Write them down and pull 'em out when you're having a bad day and when the scale doesn't say what you want it to say!:thumbup:

Karri - I need to do more weights too but I am beat after my treadmill work out and I read the calories burned on the treadmill - I don't know how may calories are burned when working out - I want to get a trainer for a week or two - but the guy I think I want is always busy when I am at the gym - plus I am a little intimidated (sp) by them - but I do see other older women working out with them.. Do you have to do soup for 3 weeks :cool2: I only have to do them for 1 but ususally move to mushie/soft after 3 days.. Linda - since my diet is mostly soft foods and I think I don't have restriction then try to eat something more solid - OMW I too see that I do still have restriction.. Well, reported that I didn't have to cook - but guess what ladies - I don't want mexican food - I want veggies- talking about a NSV - wanting something healthy instead of something greasy & fattening - I am steaming some yellow califlower - I have never had it before - but suppose to be good I don't know what it's hybred with... But I am craving healthy food not bad foods... Things do change
  10. Hey Pretty Lady! Actually, I've been out and about and I saw you from your window! Al Fresco, huh? Nice day for it! One month out and I'm feeling pretty good! The lump is still there, but I think it's getting smaller, I'm hoping anyway. Dr. K ultrasounded it and it's just fluid. We decided not to drain it now and hopefully it will absorb. I measured myself and my waist has decreased from 58.5 to 54.0. The chest hasn't decreased at all! The Hips and thighs have gotten smaller too! I was thrilled! I'm back to not losing again. I went back to work and my ankles and feet are swollen from all of the standing! I cannot wait until I've lost enough weight that I don't have to endure that! It's going to be the best NSV I'll ever have!:cool2: I have now exercised everyday for almost 2 weeks! I'm up to 10.50 mins now and feeling pretty good about it! I make myself do it first thing in the morning and then an hour after dinner I go for another 10.5mins on my recumbent bike. I love that bike! It cost me an arm and two legs! Difficult to ride it now that I'm missing those limbs, but I was worth it! Well, I'm looking forward to Red Robins! Yeah!!! Thanks for keeping us on track with our monthly gatherings! Love ya, dee~

    Who's in charge?!

Hi All, Thanks so much for your responses. Now I'm really glad I started this thread. I thought of it a couple of days ago, and something just kept telling me to do it. I'm still working towards that 4 ounces. I'm closer to 8 ounces, which is a big improvement over where I was. I'm currently at 8 cc. When I see my doc in early April, I have a feeling that I may need another .5 or 1 cc. We'll see what he says. I have to say WELL DONE on everyone's successes in this thread. I know I'm doing well, but I'm inspired to try harder. I've been looking for something to add to my exercise bike, so I bought the Reebok Step. It just arrived on Wednesday, and I'm going to take it out of the box tonight. I really think I'm going to like it. Not knowing that it was coming with a DVD, I bought a DVD, so now I have two! NSV - I'm proud to say that I've been without soda for 5 months effective March 2nd. Woo-hoo!!!! :hurray::confused: Anne

    Has anyone taken up Bycyling?

I have turned over a new leaf. For the first time since my banding I have eaten at a potluck and not gorged myself to death. I feel satified and not uncomfortably stuffed. Now that is one heck of a NSV for me.

NSV ....Last night my boyfriend and I met some friends to watch a local band. I was getting hit on. Yeah... That hasn't happened in awhile. One guy I walked past said "come over here pretty girl". Made me smile. I've noticed more guys look at me instead of acting like I'm invisible. Feels good.

    Share your NSV's

This from my posts on the Twenties NSV Thread but it fits here too: I had the best thing happened to me this weekend. But overall it was a week and weekend filled with NSVs and reassurances. I met 2 successful bandsters. Men are flirting, new ones and ones Ive known for years. WIERD! I was hanging out at my Bestie's (Jenny) house. She pulled out a picture of me from about 3 years ago. I finally saw the difference. I was a mountain. I looked swollen, full, and SO MISERABLE. Whats sad is that I remember that day and I thought I looked so cute, I looked a mess. This whole time I havent been seeing the change. I figured that I need 30 to 40 more lbs before there was a perciveable difference. I WAS SO WRONG! I am a new woman, NOW! Later, a friend of hers stopped by. When she came to say hi to me, she looked at me weird then said, "Did you lose weight? Oh my god you lost A LOT of weight!" I told her about the band (I really couldnt help myself). Later that night Jenny tells me that her friend said that (here's the best part) I looked like a "totally different person" than I did before. This girl is honest if she isnt anything else which makes it all the more amazing. It was a that moment that I felt the absolute truth of it all: I do feel like a whole different person. I am a different person.

    This is great!!

Oh, that's okay, I'm just now reading them both, lol. My hubby is 5'11" and weighs 229. He was 234 when he started dieting, but 240 was his highest. He tends to gain only in his stomach and some in his face. The rest of him isn't big at all, just the belly, lol. I read somewhere one time that it was a lot more dangerous for someone to gain fat only in the belly than someone who gains all over, mostly because the stomach is where all the organs are and too much fat in that area could cause many problems. Idk if that's true or not really. I'll hopefully weigh less than him soon. I weighed 258 this morning, so 29 more pounds before I catch him, if he doesn't lose more in the meantime. That will be a huge NSV for me because I've never weighed less than him. When we started dating, we both weighed 140lbs. He was soooooo skinny, really too skinny. 175 was a good weight for him. I looked pretty thin at 140lbs. I've always been athletic and played a lot of sports, so most of my weight came from muscle. I'm shooting for 150, maybe that's unrealistic, I don't know, but I'm darn sure gonna try to get there, lol.

    Non-scale Victories!

Laura - that's wonderful! Gosh - I don't think I've EVER been a size 10! I shared this NSV in another thread with my February 2008 friends, but it was so encouraging, I'm gonna share it here. Last November, I had to fly to Dallas, and on the plane, the belt was so tight, my tummy hung over the top and I had to cover it with my magazie so the flight attendent wouldn't make me wear a belt extender in front of my work friends! Yikes! I was so embarassed it was one of the reasons I decided to take the LB plunge. Anyway, I flew to DC last week, and the belt was actually loose - with about 4 inches of slack! And my butt didn't make the arm rest pop up in between me and my seat mate. I loved every minute of the flight.

How are my Feb Double Vs doing?

Hello all! I have been out of town for the last week and just got back. I was so eager to get back on-line and see how my Victorious Valentine friends are doing. So here's my update. The bad news: I'm hungry! I'm a week away from my first fill, and feel no restriction at all. I can eat as much as I want (but I'm not) and haven't felt overfull since my swelling went down. Staying under 1000 cal. when you're hungry stinks!! I suppose this is band hell? But no weight gain, thankfully - just a pitiful pound a week loss for the last 2 weeks. While I was out of town visiting my sister, it was so hard not to indulge! Besides an unfortunate incident involving ice cream at a movie theater, I managed to stay partially on track. The good news: Last time I flew on an airplane, I just barely got the belt fastened. I knew I was a few lbs away from a belt extender - my worst nightmare. The thing was so tight that my belly was almost hanging completely over the belt and I had to hold my magazine just right so the flight attendant wouldn't notice I was being cut in half by the belt!! This week I flew, and guess what - 4 beautiful inches of spare belt hanging out AFTER I buckled it!! And, for the first time in years, my butt stayed nicely on my side of the seat, and did not pooch out under the armrest and steal space from my seat mate. Now, that is an NSV to celebrate! Whew...it is good to be back! Please tell me some of you are experiencing bandster hell also??

I had a real fun NSV last night! It's probably TMI... But I gotta share with someone. I was shaving last night and could actually see my VaJayJay to shave it proper. It was amazing. I didn't have to suck my gut in or cock my leg a certain way. It was cool... I know, way too much information...

    Twenties NSVs

    1. Bursting out of size 26/28 and 5x tops.. to wearing 15/17 pants and 1x tops. 2. CROSSING MY LEGS. 3. Walking long distances without any problems. 4. Better Sex.. I had a new sex NSV the other night. I was lounging in bed with my legs up on the headboard and watching tv upside down.. and DH came in and was bein silly, but I realized my legs can completely go over my head and touch the bed. TOUCH THE BED! 5. I am able to do a lot more around my house, I use to feel like I was gonna die from vaccuuming one room. Now I can completely clean the entire house (without cutting corners), and vaccuum the whole place and BARELY break a sweat. 6. Being the smallest weight I've ever been since hitting puberty. 7. My collarbone is PROMINENT. I am always touching it and looking at it in the mirror. Probably a lot more, but these are things that stick out.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Denise - Since I live here I think why would anyone want to come here - it's just the stupid desert :blushing: but it is really pretty at times and the weather is great except in the summer - we have mountains - we are about 2 hrs from the beach - so it is a good place. I guess I just take it for granted:cool2: Congrats on the losing your pants  - that good !!! That's a great NSV... Now as for the the Baby Shower - Me personnaly I would have 1/2 to 1 piece of cake - That would be just too much for me not to eat it - well that being said - I did say no to all the xmas sweets at the office during christmas - - now I wouldn't bring it home or if the shower is at your house I would make them take it - cuz I would make a pig out of my if i was left alone with it - it would win -or - go in the trash... When is the baby due??
