    NSV (Non Scale Victories)

I love NSVs... Today, size 8 jeans! I'm so stoked. I still have 22 lbs to lose, so I have no idea what size I will end up. I mean, I've never even thought of wearing a size 6 as a possibility...but if I lose another 22 lbs, surely I will be lower than that, even. Crazy! I'm also excited that my bra band size has gone down, from 38C when I started to 34D now. So cool! Also, I've started running in the last month. Totally an NSV...I never could have done it, even 20 lbs ago. So there they are, my lastest NSVs! I love my band.

Pris - To do the mulit quote - say you want to quote me, salsa, frustrated on mine you click on multi quote - on salsa you click multi quote and on frustrated you click on quote - yuo will get all 3 of our post in the reply box - then you go below my quote and type your response - then you go below salsas and type your response and same thing for frustrad and hit submit. if you want you can delete the portion that you aren't responding to like I did on yours above (by highlighting and deleting) I am the one who misses guzzling water - i use to be able to drink a 16 oz glasse in one swoop - can't now have to take my time:crying: Like Brandy said you are a July baby with us even though you had complications and ended up not getting banded - but you have done the next best thinge (in a banders eye:tongue: ) You still have weight issues and that's what this group is about - supporting each other. So don't stop posting just cuz you aren't banded. Thanks Karri for the hug - some days I just don't like my job - I have been doing it so long its just the same old crap and I have to issue certificates (evidence of coverage from one contractor to another) well they are the BIGGEST PAIN IN THE ASS things to do. (sorry for cussing but I just had to cuz I HATE certs) It seems like your insured never gives you all the info you need to issue correctly the 1st time so you end up doing them 3 times - I want to yell at them STUPID we do this over and over again - you know i do have work to do - i am not sitting on my hands waiting for you to call me to redo certs all day long... I can't yell at them - but OMW i sure do want to some times... As you know I didn't sleep well last night either - and had to really talk myself in to going to the gym tonite - But had to cuz I am having Grandaughters for the next 2 nights and don't think I will be able to get to the gym - and I was suppose to meet Phyl before support group for dinner - but cancelled cuz I really wanted to get my exercise in today (and didn't think that the support group was as important - really want to meet Phyl cuz she will be going home soon - but we are going to get together before she goes.) - since for the next 2 days - i will just be walking around my development I think if you are sore you are suppose to give your muscle 48 rest between work outs - but I will find out - cuz guess who I talked to tonite - a TRAINER well, last night as i was coming in he was leaving and I asked for his card - but was so busy never got to call him today - so tonite as I was leaving he was coming in and he put my name & # in his blackberry and said he would call me tomorrow - My plan is to work with him for 1 month (well gotta find out how much $$$) for maybe twice a week or whatever he suggest - I need to build some muscles and I want to do it correctly so that I am not intimidated by the machines. They say the more muscule you have the more calories you burn - so I want to burn baby burn those calories away. After everyone talking about why they choose their weight - got me to thinking that maybe I should try for 145 - but I want to get to 160 first then I will see. NSV to report - I walked for 2 miles straight at 4.0 on a 1 incline - I ususally do 1 or 2 songs at 3.9 or 4.0 - i even jogged for 7 10th of a mile so that I could say I did 2 miles in 30 minutes - but it was a bit much - I hope I didn't hurt my heels - but I am proud to say I did 2 15 minute miles. Thanks Brandy !!! OMW CONGRATS ON 146.5 that is awesome - way to go.. I bet you are really busy but sure glad you got a second to stop by - pop in and let us know how things are going.. Oh ya Karri we want to know what was yummy & healthy - I am having turkey meat loaf (made it last night) 1/2 c mash potatoes & green Beans.

    Non-Scale Victories!!

Great job everyone! Red, I could totally relate to your post, everything that you mentioned about fitting into seats and seatbelts on the plane! That is SO ME! I went on vacation about a month before my surgery to LA to visit my sister and I couldn't even fasten the seatbelt without an extender and thank goodness my husband was next to me so I didn't intrude on a stranger's space! The thing I kept telling myself the whole time was, "this is it, this is the last time I am going to EVER have this problem!". So far my only realized NSV is that my clothes seem to be growing! Pants and sleeves seem to be getting longer! No new size yet, but my 28s were starting to get tight before surgery so I think it will be a couple more months before I will be ready for new stuff, and, like many others, I have a closet full of work clothes I love, but can't wear so I am looking forward to awakening some "new" outfits! Great job to everyone, I can't wait to read more!

    Non-Scale Victories!!

well my NSV today is that I am FINALLY wearing my Levi jeans that have been hanging in my closet for 3 years!!! Last week, I tried to put them on and couldn't get them over my hips. Had my first fill 2/28 and dropped 3 pounds to enter ONEDERLAND...and fit into my favorite jeans!!! So happy I could cry!!

    My Best NSV EVER!!!!

Just wanted to share because it made me soooo happy. My DBF lives about an hour from me so we generally only see each other on the weekends. And you know how it is when someone doesn't see u for a week they can really tell the difference. So anywayyyy....we are driving and he keeps looking at me, with this silly little grin on his face, finally I'm like "What, why are you staring at me?" And he says "Well I was just thinking to myself, Wow she looks great and she's my girl" Did I mention that I think I have the greatest guy EVER!!! That comment was better then ANY number the scale would have given me. He went to grab for some boobage later and he says "Uh-oh my assets are dwindling" :rolleyes2: Like the chick in that Slimquick commercial where her husband loses weight all over and the only thing that happens to her are her boobs shrivel up. Hehe--he also has a silly sense of humor.

    Knockouts March '08 chat!

I started a ticker for the 600 Minute March! I also added NSV goals to my siggy. Things are going well, I suppose. Could be better, so I'm joining Curves tomorrow. I'm just not losing the weight so I need more structure in my exercise regimen. I have decent restriction only part of the time after my first fill. My 2nd fill is coming up March 19th and it just cannot come soon enough! How's everybody else doing?

He stammers and then says Sorry, I thought it was your daughter, and WOW you have lost alot of weight haven't you? With a great big smile I said yes, thank you... I then got my dad for him,,err I mean husband,,hehehehehhe :-D

The BEST NSV for me EVER!!!

wow....i'm down to 211 and my size 20's are starting to get cleaned outta my closet (as of today actually)...most of them are just too baggy to be comfortable anymore...i wonder if i can hit up Old Navy now! that would totally ROCK! i've only gotten to buy clothes for my hubby & son in there and NEVER for myself!!! wow, i'm totally going to try it out! i'm thinking i'm going to need 18's AND hoping that some 16's will fit, depending upon where i shop. most of my shirts are now 16/18 but most of the pants i owned were down to a size 20. with the exception of the pair i'm wearing now, which is the smallest i own, and they're an 18 but not fitting 100% like i want them too....they're getting to become too big too. probably will only be able to wear them and still look decent for another week or two. i feel a SHOPPING TRIP coming on!!! thanks for the NSV!!! now i know i can try a new store!!! so excited! xoxo, Christie

AWESOME! Old Navy is tops! I cant wait till I can fit their 20's and 18's. I fit Xl's in their shirts but the bottoms are still a 2 sizes off. Gloucester, yes Lane Bryant has gone insane. I am so glad that I am leaving them. My Lapband broke us up. Pretty sweet NSV Jennie!

Yes I am very proud of myself too!! It was funny I called by BF before he went to work to share the good news and after celebrating with me for a minute he then tisked me for weighin in early. Then admitted that he too had jumped on the scale this morning. We are both only supposed to weigh in on Saturdays. But he had lost another 2 pounds as well. We both laughed that we cheated on our weighin days but both had good results. As for beating yourself up, I do think that age does have something to do with it. I am not as good as you girls are about not giving myself a hard time. I got to the high end of my calorie range yesterday so was going to make sure to go way low today. How dumb is that. I was within my range so I should be fine. Guilt....GRRRRR still working on that one. Janet I too have found though that somethings are just not worth the calories. We went to some friends' house for a party and I was going to allow my self 1 dessert, but when I bit into it, it just didn't taste as good as it looked. So I just didn't eat it. Lindaa I too love food, but my tastes have really changed. A lot of it is mental, but I will take it. Because i don't eat a lot of sweets when I had 1 piece of Valentine's candy it actually made me kind of nauseous because it was soooooo sweet. If someone told me to choose between my pure protein bars and reeses peanut butter cups, I would probably pick the protein bar, because I just like it better now. Sonya - Good luck with the fill. I get mine in 1 week. I am a little nervous considering how tight I was the last time, but I am going tough it out. I REALLY want to lose these last 19 pounds. See ladies I am motivated again...so much for going into maintenance. Well I have to kick these kids out so that I can go to the gym before the volleyball game tonight. Talk about an NSV, when I mentioned in the emails that we were sending out that I needed to go to the gym before we could get together and practice as a team everyone else in the group said they were blowing off the gym tonight because they would get a workout in the game. It just isn't enough for me. Patting myself on the back for that one! Will check in later tonight or tomorrow!

    Non-Scale Victories!!

My wedding rings are really loose! Not loose enough to fall off yet, but I find I have to pay attention to them more if they are in water, and take them off when giving the kids a bath. also, my husband said the other night while we were cuddling it was like holding onto a different person. I have (only) lost 22lbs. The NSV's are what keep me going.

    NSV (Non Scale Victories)

Here are two quick ones....yesterday we went to Outback for lunch. Whoever designed their booths must be an avowed 'fattie hater', because they are HORRIFIC!! I've been able to get in them since a couple of months after surgery (couldn't EVEN before!), but getting out was not always a pretty sight and often required my husband's assistance. Yesterday, I was up and out of the booth before HE was and we both looked at each other with shock, then began to LOL!!! The other one made us LOL, too!!! A couple of weeks ago I noticed (don't know when it actually happened!) that my navel has gone from looking like this --> O to looking like this --> | !!!! Now that's not at all 'pretty', but, it'll be 'fixed' eventually, but for now, it's a big NSV......SOMETHING had to have happened for that dramatic change!

    New NSV for me!!!

Hi there everyone. So...I'm off to Las Vegas tomorrow (Woo Hoo) and headed to Macy's to see if there were any good sales. Well...I came across a cute little black dress...you know every woman needs a little black dress. Well...the only size that was left was a size 12. I knew it wouldn't fit, but went into the fitting room to see how tight it was. Stepped into it...zipped it up and wouldn't you know it...I was off to the register to buy my new SIZE 12 dress. Oh my goodness...I cannot remember the last time that I could actually fit into a size 12. Maybe that's the start of my good luck and I'll win big in Vegas. Wish me luck!!!!
  18. I just had to share! Several years ago, I got down to about 240. I tried on a pair of jeans from Lane Bryant that were a size 20 and was VERY surprised that they fit. Then I remembered that Old Navy has size 20, so my best friend and I went there to see if I fit into them. She's about a size 0, so I felt okay being in there because even if they didn't fit, I could pretend we were shopping for her. Well, they didn't fit, and, before I got down to that size, I started gaining weight again. It never happened, and my friend went back to Indiana (where she lives). Well, last Friday I was going by Old Navy again. I am only about 10 pounds lower than where I was before. I must be losing weight again because (and I have to put the caps lock on for this): NOT ONLY DID I FIT INTO THEIR CLOTHES, BUT I WASN'T EVEN THE LARGEST SIZE!!!!!!!!!! (okay, caps lock over). I couldn't believe it! I had to resist the urge to buy everything in the store! Okay, that's my coolest non-scale victory for me ever and I had to share. Thanks for reading!

I loved your story Jackie! Sucks that you got so angry, but great that you used it as a motivator. Even better that you recognised your bad eating habit BEFORE you buried your face in the cake. Terrific NSV. Go you!

    Non-Scale Victories!!

Way to go Chrisann, Ang, Nukechik and Ninja! I love NSVs! They make you feel so good. Seeing everyone's achievements gives me so much inspiration. We all know how great it feels to see that our weight loss doesn't just affect the number on the scale! I posted this in the general NSVs thread but I'll post them here too! I added some more while I was at it! When I sit in a chair I find myself crossing my legs without even thinking about it! And I can sit like that for a while, unlike before, I could barely cross them and after 30 seconds it hurt to keep them crossed. I actually have the following body parts (or at least now I'm 100% sure): A neck! A hip bone! Collar bones! A rib cage! Also, the chairs in my classrooms are the chairs with an attached desk, which are not big people friendly by any means! Last year I could barely sit comfortably in them. Now I have plenty of room to move and I can even cross my legs under them! My highest size ever was a 26 and 3x top and now I'm down to an 18 and 1x top! And....I actually bought an XL sweater from the Misses department!!!! I'm not quite an XL in tops yet, but this one fit, so who cares, it wasn't a plus size!:w00t::w00t: And apparently, my feet shrunk too! I've been a size 11 since I was 14 and now all my shoes are big on me. I think I'm a 10.5 now, which is kind of an annoying size to find, but I did just buy a size 10 yesterday! I also don't get out of breath going up the stairs. I can walk briskly and talk at the same time without getting out of breath. I ran for 15 min :cool2::ohmy: on 4.5mph! When I started exercising in August I could barely jog at 3.5 mph for more than 15 seconds without getting out of breath. Now I have so much energy. I had to move the driver's seat closer to the steering wheel. I'm hoping to go on vacation this summer and I'm not scared to sit in the seats on the airplane. I'm actually looking forwards to seeing how tightly I can pull the seatbelt (instead of worrying that it won't fit), how much room I will have in between me and the tray (now that I'll actually be able to lower the tray table), and how much room I'll have between me and the person next to me (instead of feeling bad that I'm squishing them) And my BMI is below 35 now, which means I officially don't qualify for insurance covered surgery anymore! WAHOO! K guys, I wanna hear more NSVs! Keep 'em coming! Each one counts, no matter how small. Look for them, acknowledge them, be proud of them!! Write them down and pull 'em out when you're having a bad day and when the scale doesn't say what you want it to say!:thumbup:

Karri - I need to do more weights too but I am beat after my treadmill work out and I read the calories burned on the treadmill - I don't know how may calories are burned when working out - I want to get a trainer for a week or two - but the guy I think I want is always busy when I am at the gym - plus I am a little intimidated (sp) by them - but I do see other older women working out with them.. Do you have to do soup for 3 weeks :cool2: I only have to do them for 1 but ususally move to mushie/soft after 3 days.. Linda - since my diet is mostly soft foods and I think I don't have restriction then try to eat something more solid - OMW I too see that I do still have restriction.. Well, reported that I didn't have to cook - but guess what ladies - I don't want mexican food - I want veggies- talking about a NSV - wanting something healthy instead of something greasy & fattening - I am steaming some yellow califlower - I have never had it before - but suppose to be good I don't know what it's hybred with... But I am craving healthy food not bad foods... Things do change
  22. Hey Pretty Lady! Actually, I've been out and about and I saw you from your window! Al Fresco, huh? Nice day for it! One month out and I'm feeling pretty good! The lump is still there, but I think it's getting smaller, I'm hoping anyway. Dr. K ultrasounded it and it's just fluid. We decided not to drain it now and hopefully it will absorb. I measured myself and my waist has decreased from 58.5 to 54.0. The chest hasn't decreased at all! The Hips and thighs have gotten smaller too! I was thrilled! I'm back to not losing again. I went back to work and my ankles and feet are swollen from all of the standing! I cannot wait until I've lost enough weight that I don't have to endure that! It's going to be the best NSV I'll ever have!:cool2: I have now exercised everyday for almost 2 weeks! I'm up to 10.50 mins now and feeling pretty good about it! I make myself do it first thing in the morning and then an hour after dinner I go for another 10.5mins on my recumbent bike. I love that bike! It cost me an arm and two legs! Difficult to ride it now that I'm missing those limbs, but I was worth it! Well, I'm looking forward to Red Robins! Yeah!!! Thanks for keeping us on track with our monthly gatherings! Love ya, dee~

    Who's in charge?!

Hi All, Thanks so much for your responses. Now I'm really glad I started this thread. I thought of it a couple of days ago, and something just kept telling me to do it. I'm still working towards that 4 ounces. I'm closer to 8 ounces, which is a big improvement over where I was. I'm currently at 8 cc. When I see my doc in early April, I have a feeling that I may need another .5 or 1 cc. We'll see what he says. I have to say WELL DONE on everyone's successes in this thread. I know I'm doing well, but I'm inspired to try harder. I've been looking for something to add to my exercise bike, so I bought the Reebok Step. It just arrived on Wednesday, and I'm going to take it out of the box tonight. I really think I'm going to like it. Not knowing that it was coming with a DVD, I bought a DVD, so now I have two! NSV - I'm proud to say that I've been without soda for 5 months effective March 2nd. Woo-hoo!!!! :hurray::confused: Anne

    Has anyone taken up Bycyling?

I have turned over a new leaf. For the first time since my banding I have eaten at a potluck and not gorged myself to death. I feel satified and not uncomfortably stuffed. Now that is one heck of a NSV for me.
