No problem drinking large amounts/chugging
muelle replied to faz1988's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think with in a couple weeks of surgery I was able to drink quite a bit at a time. I was concerned and asked my doctor if this was ok and he said as long as it is going down it is fine. He said for the most part liquid passed through the band very quickly. I have almost 5ccs in an 11 or 14 cc (not sure which one I have) band and now have to slow down my drinking, especially early in the morning. I can feel the water going down for about half the day, then the band loosens up some. Good luck to you! -

Opening too small - possible balloon dialation
Aimee replied to Jenny 2.0's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just had balloon dilation this past Friday. I was about 4 weeks out. I could not eat any solids and liquids did hurt also. Right after my dilation the GI doctor told me I could resume eating soft foods. I have felt so much better since the dilation. I can now eat more, drink without pain and I actually am starting to feel somewhat normal. Get the dilation was nothing and I am so glad they did it. Hang in there you will feel better. -

Feels like food sits in my throat.

At this stage of the game, 3 weeks out, I would talk with the surgeons' office. This might be more of an issue than you think and allowing them to make the decision this early on is probably for the better. Best of luck. -
Well, here's a new one for me. I was unable to donate platelets today because my blood pressure is too low. The woman at the Blood Center said this is the first time in 30 years that she's ever had to defer someone for LOW blood pressure. Considering that 2 years ago my blood pressure was continuing to rise despite the meds I was taking to lower it, I'll call it a victory even though I really wanted to donate today. I am coming back next week to try donating again, with strict instructions to booze it up the night before, eat a bunch of salty foods, don't exercise that morning, and guzzle two cups of coffee before my appointment. My, how my life has changed. ????

I was also sleeved in TJ this month. i'm only a few days out an agree about the experience being great. You are probably still swollen or holding fluid. That's what I see as well. Perhaps you should hold off weighing yourself for a week or so. Stay positive. -

Hey girl! Lets be in touch, it looks like we have similar stats. How's it going? I am 4 weeks and two days out. I've been out of town so I haven't seen a scale in nearly a week. I will update my tracker when I do. Tell me how you're feeling? Me, I am on the fence. I still am having a hard time with finding other things to do besides eat, it was such a huge part of what I did and thought about. As a Mexico sleever I didn't get much information about post care, but I feel like my Dr. felt like your body will tell you what it can and cannot handle. Im interested to see how your thinking evolves in the coming weeks What was your BMI when you had surgery? Did you beef up for surgery? I had food funerals for months. Anyhow I look forward to hearing from you. -

Might be too soon to tell if you ate too tight. For me it sometimes took up to two or three weeks before it felt good. This last fill for me was too tight and I unfilled 1/4cc. If you are burping, coughing at night, have discomfort while eating, and feel restricted with even back pain, you may be too tight, Make sure you are following all those rules before you decide to go in. Tweak that first. If you are following the rules, you will know to go in.

Looking For Others Who Are Struggling with Emotional Eating Plz
Tlynnles replied to FreeToBeMe's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
:sad0: Pennie; I am having a hard time too. Sometimes I am ok and other times....wow! I want to go to a cognitive behavioral therapist. Since I don't do drugs or alcohol the food was my DOC (drug of choice) and now my stomach is dictating to me what and how much I can eat. Since I have had this done (VSG 6/9/10) I feel like it is something I had to do because I was killing myself. Boy did it feel like I was dying...slowly. I feel like the Matthew 5:30; "If your right hand makes you stumble, cut it off and throw it from you; for it is better for you to lose one of the parts of your body, than for your whole body to go into hell." I want to eat so much of the gooooooooooooooooooooooood food that is out there. Oh man. Now my addiction is controlling me. It won't let me eat certain things or I get a stomach ache or if I want to take more than 3 bites.....AHHHHHH!!!!:drool5: It's terrible. I know how you feel. I know it is necessary. I know I will feel better. But boy, can your mind make you crave. Now I have to do mental work on that! I know the boat you are in and you are not alone. Feel free to contact me anytime or even e-mail me if you need to talk. I need support too. This is tough. I knew it would be....but mannnnnnnnn! Hello, Im 1 week post op. Can i eat Peanut Butter?
-
Well, I got my third fill on Monday. I am up to 2.5cc's and FINALLY feel some restriction. Although, truthfully, I think I still need more. I have only lost about 18lbs since the surgery (3 months ago) and boy I am feeling discouraged. Anyone else have to have so many fills before getting adequately restricted? You know the psychological element of this whole thing plays such a role with me. I am so flipping performance oriented, and a perfectionist! I realize that I am scared to go home for Christmas, because I don't want to hear my mother say... "Gee... I thought you would have lost more by now." (Before I got the surgery, one of her friends who wants to have RNY, spent a considerable amount of time convincing my mom that Lap-Band's don't work!) Ugghhh... I am thinking of doing Atkins for the next week to convince her. Good Lord.... see what I mean about being screwed up in the head about this? Ok... enough whining! On a positive note.... Last weekend I bought one of those Gazelle excercise machines so I don't have to be trudging around in the snow. It's really ideal for me, because of the low impact. It's quite fun, so I am hoping the added excercise will help speed up the weight loss! Also, even with only losing 18, I am already down a dress size. I was a 26, now the 24's are very loose. All I want for Christmas is for my cherry red size 22 skirt to fit. Anyway... enough blathering on. Happy Holidays everyone! 255/237/150

Weight loss stall
creatingthenewme replied to RubeZac's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You can expect stalls throughout your entire journey. It's unfortunate but normal. I've read of stalls lasting a couple days or weeks. I personally had about a two week stall a couple weeks after surgery. -

Two weeks banded...Need Advice!!!!!
Sue Magoo replied to mejr62's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi: Welcome to band land. I'm surprised that you're eating soft foods already. All the doctors are different. I was on liquids for a couple of weeks, then soft/pureed foods. I have issues when I eat too fast still. So, I use a one-minute timer between bites. I bought a few of them on UnclesGames.com has board games, card games, jigsaw puzzles, dominoes, dice, and much, much more. They only cost about $1.50 each. They help me to be able to eat without sliming and pbing after by slowing me down alot. Hope all works out. Keep us posted after you see the doctor. Sue -

Ive had Type 2 Diabetes for some time now (many years) I have been super fortunate so Im not sure Im the best person to compare to. My Type 2 was mostly controlled by my intake of carbs and sugar. I was also very lucky if my A1C climbed or even my daily/weekly checks were elevated, I could control it by watching what I ate. I am not on any medications because my body reacts well to reducing carbs and sugars on my own. My highest A1C ever was 3 years ago and it was 9.6. I was mortified. My Dr wanted to prescribed me metformin which she did but I had a horrible reaction to it (Im allergic it seems) I asked my DR to hold off on giving me something else and to allow me to control it by my food intake and what I eat. She told me I had 3 months and if I didnt have significant improvement that I would need medication. 3 months later I had an A1C and it was 5.1 my DR was shocked as was I lol. It seems for me if I am on insulin or drugs for diabetes my sugars go insanely high and often times its worse than what I started with. I suppose this is why my DR allowed me to try to control it by food. My sugars are usually around 113-120 if I am behaving myself, my fasting sugar hovers around 141-160 in the morning
