    December 2018 Sleevers!

That sounds great. I’m on puréed at 10 days out and gonna have refried beans with cheese tomorrow. Scrambled eggs. Baked cod, salmon, puréed roasted chicken sweet potatoes. Puréed cauliflower. All good. Watch portions. I had gastric bypass
  2. Hi everyone! Just to let you all know that I am doing great. Down 35 lbs since my surgery on 10/26 and counting. Was frustrated and I had some regrets about my surgery just because Of the stalls I was having that’s all! And guess what people I did eat ONE slice of pizza and had no stomach issues!! All of you judge mental people are just so ridiculous. I am happy and proud of my weight loss journey and that all that matters.

    Out Of Pocket Max

I had my surgery on December 12. The claim for my hospital stay has been pending since that date and I've been waiting for the ultimate bill. My insurance stands that it pays 80% and I pay 20% up until my out-of-pocket max is met (which is $5,000.) After that, the rest is covered. I have a general idea what my bill will be and that's fine. The question is that it is now near the end of the year and soon my insurance will roll over and I will stand at $5,000 out of pocket maximum (throughout the year I've been working on reducing it.) Since the surgery was in 2018, will they be basing the amount I owed on what out-of-pocket deductible that I have left in 2018? Or will I have to deal with the brand new, never been touched, $5,000 of 2019. I was really hoping that the final bill would have been settled, but alas I'm still waiting. TIA, sorry for the weird question!

Sizes .... yes, universal sizing, please! I'm 5'3", pre WLS - 240 lbs & size 20 At goal now 135-140 lbs, sizes, all over the places, but mostly size 8 I can almost forgive sizing being between brands. But the same brand, different cut pants, same sizes don't fit. Vince Camuto I wear both an 8 & 10, depending on the style, Wit & Wisdom, same thing. Now that drives me crazy. In pants I have sizes between 6-10 in my closet, dresses 6-8. Anything sized S-M-L is a total crap shoot, I feel like I have an equal representation of all 3! I think there is a lot of vanity sizing though. I fit into quite a few Smalls. I'm barely to a "normal" BMI. I think I am in true terms a M-L.

I thought I was in the clear...

Yeah, the bleeding part should probably be mentioned to the doc. As you may have seen on another post about my personal poops.... I went to the ER after 10 days and I was friggin' POOPLESS. I didn't poop until Day 15 and it was a micro poop and then on Day 17 I had the real poops. It was another EIGHT DAYS until I pooped again (today). No constipation though. I did take Miralax, glycerin suppositories, and Colace because I thought there HAD to be something up there and it will definitely get things RUMBLING. Even if, in my case, nothing appeared. #ghostbowels Anyways, at least take Colace and Miralax. You don't want to go to the ER and have a doctor stick his finger up your butt like I did. Or maybe you do... I don't judge.
  7. I'm just over 10 weeks post-op and have gastroenteritis. Luckily the stomach cramps haven't been too bad, but they still hurt my poor, tiny tummy. I'm doing my best to keep drinking fluids, but even water makes my stomach cramp. I was able to get a banana and 1 T of peanut butter down over about 2.5 hours. I think that's all I'll get in today for food, so I'm going to focus on water and even some protein water. I've lost a couple pounds since this morning which is pure fluids from the diarrhea. I don't want to end up on an IV for fluid loss! Hoping this lets up tomorrow. In the past it's generally lasted about 24 hours, with another day or two of a sensitive tummy. As long as I keep my fluids up, I'm not going to worry about missing my protein goals/vitamins for a couple days.

    November 2018 Sleevers!?!?

I understand. I find myself getting aggravated alot. I just step back breath and count to 10. It has helped. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  9. I've had that feeling the 2 times I tried bread (I'm 10 weeks post-op). I won't be doing bread again for quite some time. My body can't handle the sugar high/crash.
  10. Met up with an old friend today and he told me that he was approved for his Gastric Sleeve Surgery. His surgery will be done within two weeks. As we were talking he asked me if I liked his new winter coat that his wife bought him for Christmas. I told him that it was nice and asked if he could return it. A puzzled look went over his face. He asked me why would I ask if he could return it. I told him by Winters end he will not be needing a 2XL sized coat. I told him that in all probability he will be at a large by next year and will need to buy a new coat. It didn't dawn on him that he would no longer be at this size for long. He told me that he got a lot of new clothes for Christmas and they were all sized 2XL. I told him that I was lucky as I had my surgery during the Summer and I had time to tell friends and relatives not to buy me any clothes for Christmas. He's going to see if he can return as much of the new clothing as he can. If not he will donate them to charity when they don't fit him anymore. I know for me it took planning to get a new wardrobe and to donate my larger sized clothes. I went on all the department store websites and checked the clearance sections. I started looking during the Winter and I was able to buy Summer clothes on the cheap. I just needed to try to find out what size I would eventually be. (XL to Med) One thing I did do was cap the number of items I bought. Prior to weight loss surgery I bought clothes with abandon. I gave away close to 60 pairs of pants, 40 winter shirts, 30 summer shirts, a dozen pairs of shorts, numerous jackets and coats, etc, etc. Now I own 10 pairs of pants, 8 winter shirts, 10 summer shirts, 4 pairs of shorts and two jackets and one coat. I don't look for clothes anymore because I realized that I bought clothes to cover my obesity. The more clothes I bought the better I felt about myself. Today my better health makes me feel good and I tend not to need materialistic things like coats and a lot of food to make me feel good. That in itself is worth the price of WLS.

Sophomoreville - A Home For The the Tweeners

I was somewhere around the 22W range, now I’m solidly a 10/12. My family got me a delicious subzero coat for Christmas and it’s an L and fits absolutely perfectly, which shocked the hell out of me, I haven’t worn anything non-stretchy in L in a decade. It’s possible I’ll lose up to 50 lbs more and I honestly don’t know where it would come from. If I lose another 25 I’ll be chuffed, if I don’t lose another pound I’ll be fine. I am now Normal Human Woman Size, which makes life infinitely easier. As forewarned, I miss my breasts. I mean, they’re still here and attached to me, but barely. If I take off my bra it’s like a handful of Gak, which is entertaining but not very sexy. I think it’ll be the first thing I overhaul. I’m also starting to feel the seriously unnerving sensation of the skin on my thighs moving in a slight time-delay from the muscle within? I’ll step, and then feel the aftershocks across my skin. Hmmmmmmm. I am also getting a tiny little turkey goiter and am going to look into weird spa treatments with ultrasound and lasers because why the hell not. But when I’m wearing clothes I look and feel killer, so big whoop.
  13. I’m from the UK (Manchester) and also having my surgery in the Czech Republic in January 2019, how was your experience?

So how are you faring@ RiseUp? Ready to start your bright new 2019 with your renovations in place?

    Full liquids agaiiinnnn.

Well it's morning, first trip to BR, took liquid calcium, made sure C-pap had more distilled water in chamber, put it back,on, laid back down before stomach started to rebel, and thinking peaceful & calm thoughts. Had good blood draws yesterday so should hear from TPN dietician & pharmacists today And maybe also the scheduler at Bariatric Cl8nic about rescheduling the scoping for next week? Sooner I know, sooner I can make sure I have transport to Columbus. Tummy too uncertain yet to make a shake, try to wait a couple hours, want to keep the calcium in me instead of wearing it. Like 🐭🐺 I am rather untrusting of foods. Since my TPN. is calorie sufficent it's not mandatory I eat but I try for my protein enriched shake, Miralax enhanced, made with skim milk. May take all day to get the 16 oz down but by nightfall it will be gone and it will be hook-up time. Was worried when I weighed myself at PCP office, seemed the same instead of a loss, but last night my sluggish #2 came and came and came. See I no longer go once a day like I did in days of yore. And 3-5 pounds easily, well it did save me from MoM therapy today. But 3 flushes🚽 to clear out the bowl💩, soft, lump, soft & lump. But I feel considerable lighter if not brighter. When its been 30 minutes, I'll start on my 2 oz cuppies every 15 minutes of no-cal flavored water. Never thought I would regress back that far but it keeps me from dehydrating the 10 TPN hours off, doesn't it? And I got compliments that my color is better, I look less stressed, and 2 people on the periphery of my life complimented, actually noticed and complimented me on weight loss. Well I wasn't doing my Weight loss for them, but positive affirmation is NICE, isn't it?😝😋😝❤
  17. So it's in the last stages... less than 10 hours to go... no more food or water...well I'm off to bed to see if I can get a few hours of sleep. Hope all goes fantastic and no issues... fear has finally kicked in with some excitement still happening... Night all......

Lap band January 2019 surgery date

You are on a better position than those of us that got banded in the last 10 years as there is so much more info available. If this info had been available to me when I got my band I wouldn't have done it.The myth we were sold doesn't match the reality. I didnt realise that you will get sick if you eat too much actually meant take one bite of a wrong albeit healthy food and you will be spending hours trying to chuck whilst in pain and still hungry. Or that unhealthy stuff would be far easier to est than the healthy stuff. But you be fair I probably wasn't emotionally ready for something like RNY back then so from that point of view it was a good gateway choice

Lap band January 2019 surgery date

Getting ready to take a huge step in my weight loss journey and getting healthy. I’ve read several negative Lap band experiences on here. I’d love to hear recent success stories. If you had it to do over, would you do it again? Has anyone had to have one reversed?

I created a January 2019 challenge for everyone to participate in where they can set their own goal but this time maximum participation efforts requested. And incentives....
  21. I had the Lap Band from 4-11 until 12/16. I am one of the “lucky” one’s as far as weight loss. I kept the weight off. Downside is the constant vomiting. My Band was removed because of an infection in the port. I had Sleeve Surgery 10/17. I have had success only gaining minimal weight without the vomiting. I wish everyone good luck.

    Turkey Necks

Gosh I hear ya! I'm afraid I'm just going to have to embrace mine, cuz I don't see them going away anytime soon. LOL! I keep thinking 2019 might be the "year of the batwing" where batwings are the new black!

    July Sleeve

Hi all. Sleeved 7/10. Down about 65 pounds. Lot of temptation this time of year. Did try some chocolate covered strawberries...had a piece of two of them. Everything else I just told myself was off limits. Haven’t weighed myself in about a week. My normal weigh day is Sunday but decided to skip this week. Hair falling out. Just keeping with the program.

    November 2018 Sleevers!?!?

Thank you! It feels slow haha. Especially cause some people drop weight like crazy! But I was a lower bmi so I was expecting not to loose as much as some! If I can stick around 10 pounds a month I'll be happy with that! Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using BariatricPal mobile app

Nice! And an area where I've gotten sloppy. Did not EVEN stop to think that it increases speed of food out of pouch and absorption zone so it equals more malabsorption! SNAP! It's a double edge sword for sure! But you will figure out your system. Like for us now, even with me eating more, I still only do 1/2 recipes of stuff. And mostly just stick with grilled meats/seafood for the week. So instead of getting 4 breasts, I get 2 and slice them into thin planks and quick grill them. And it ends up being more than enough for recipes through the week that use chicken! I also break recipes up so that the "bases" are made and then you just need to assemble and re-warm. Keeps things from getting boring and it's kinda like garanimals for food. (ie I can take a piece of that grilled chicken (about 2oz), top it with low carb marinara and 1/2oz of mozz and 1/2oz of parm. Bake it at 350* till warm and melty and throw a handful of spinach into a pan and wilt it quickly. Done! Or I can have broccoli pre-made and just saute til hot with garlic and olive oil. Meal done in 10-15minutes max!)
