1. I know there's been a zillion threads on this, but what's one more right? I am seeing A LOT of people so hung up on the scale that they're missing the Non Scale Victories (yes that's what NSV means). So, please list your NSVs here! It doesn't matter how big or how small, we want to hear it! Mine are (in no particular order): The ability to sit in any chair I want without worrying if I'll fit or break it The ability to sit in booths at restaurants Flying without needing a seat belt extender No longer wearing plus sized clothes Trying on a size 'large' shirt and finding it's too big- and buying a size 'medium' Walking by mirrors while shopping and thinking "wow I look cute" instead of "ugh gross" Being very active in my kids' lives Going from needing a cane to get around the house to walking 2 miles a day unaided No longer having high blood pressure or high blood sugar. No longer having a sleep apnea (or even snoring anymore) Not being recognized by people who haven't seen me since getting my band (literally) Being able to wear cute, stylish clothes (I've become a shopping addict!) Sitting with my legs crossed Being told I look more like my almost 19yr old daughter's sister rather than her mother

My most favorite NSV so far! I thought I'd never have to be a bridesmaid again, but after a whirlwind romance, my little sister wants a big wedding. So off to look at dreaded bridesmaid dresses we went. It was so liberating to not be the fat girl worried about them having a dress in my size or what it would look like. I was prepared to wear whatever she picked. And....I ended up looking really good on the dress she picked! The picture doesn't even do it justice. I'm the one in the pink dress. The actually dress is going to be blue.

NSV for myself: My swimsuit from last year was literally falling off me when I put it on two weeks ago. I had to go out and buy a few new ones.

My NSV: last week my 22yo son said to me that he can't remember what I looked like when I was heavy. 5 years + banded, I've been heavy longer than I have not, but he can't remember anymore. He was 17 when I got banded.

NSV looking at pictures taken at thanksgiving 2013 and can't believe that's me I look so not huge !!! I keep staring at the pic looking for the rest of me it's crazy. I didn't notice "all" that I was once and yet I notice it gone. Another huge bag of clothes to give away heading Into 12/14 shirts and 16 pants although my pant size is all over I guess depending on cut I Currently wearing 16-20's in pants I don't get it he range but of they fit nice I don't care about the size. Enjoying the compliments yet the baffle me at times. Emotions all over but eye in the prize a skinnier healthier me

Another NSV today is I have a outline of my elbow! Y'all are the only ones I can tell that to and have someone be excited for me lol. No one else really understands all these little things I'm seeing haha...they just are happy for me if I said pigs fly lol! Today I was putting on my makeup and for some reason I looked at my arm and could see my elbow instead of just it being round.

So I had the PLEASURE of flying for the first time since losing weight! Ohhhh the NSV's were COUNTLESS! Well not countless cuz you can bet your sweet bippy I noticed every single one!! Starting with the preparation...no anxiety about taking up too much of the seat next to me! Then going through TSA and the agent does a triple take of my I.D. so I tell her "It's okay, you can tell me that looks NOTHING like me!" ... and she says "It doesn't! I mean I can sorta tell it's you but...." so I said "I've lost 110 pounds!" She was sooo nice and told me how amazing I look and congratulated me! That was one TSA experience I enjoyed....probably the only one in the history of TSA. Anyway...then there was the removing of the shoes that I used to loathe because tying my shoes used to be a big chore...NOT ANYMORE!! I can take those puppies off and on and tie them NO PROBLEM!! I do it for fun sometimes! Well not really but I could if I thought it were fun. I couldn't wait to board the plane! When I got to my seat it was sooo awesome to see extra seat on both sides of my ass!!! Not a chance there was gonna be any of me spilling over into the passengers seat next to me! Then the seat belt...I heard the angels singing when I clicked the buckle and had to pull it tight...soooo much left over belt! I took a picture! LOL This was THE best trip of my life. I spent 4 days in Vegas enjoying the spa in a bathing suit with ZERO thoughts about my weight. It felt AMAZING to truly be able to relax an enjoy myself. Negative thoughts used to consume me...everything I did brought about thoughts about my weight. I'm so happy to be living without those thoughts anymore. I can do anything! I FEEL amazing and that is priceless!

Lower BMI'ers--2008!!!

AudricIan how are you doing? You've been quiet on this thread...is everything okay? Have you been losing or have you hit a standstill? Hey everyone let me know your latest NSV's, I need some encouragement as i'm losing so slow!! I did have a NSV moment yesterday though, I put on a pair of jeans that I wear regularly only to realize that HEY they were too big for me to continue to wear, so I pulled another (smaller size) out of my closet-still a little on the tight side, but i'm moving down the size charts ever so slowly!!!!

The Gone for Good Club

Good grief, that's wonderful progress! Good for you! Don't be too hard on yourself and expect to jump from point A to point Z in one leap. The journey is a long one with a lot of blessings (NSVs - non scale victories) along the way. You're taking excellent steps in the right direction to regain control of your life and your health, and I'm very excited for you!

OCT 29th anyone?

Whoohooo! Congrats on the NSV (Non Scale Victory)! I have had people tell me they could see a difference already also. It feels good. Well off to go walk before it starts to rain. Hope everyone is doing good today.

Feel Like I'm A Failure

So here's a reality check......You "only lost 15lbs." Your clothes are falling off...... What is the truth here? I believe it's time for you to throw your scale away, or hide it. You are obsessing over a stupid scale and the numbers on it. You have lost so much weight that your clothes are falling off! That to me is success......An NSV as we call it...... I'd rather have my clothes fall off than worry about the numbers. You are doing great....... The #'s on the scale will go down and you are going to be so pleased with yourself. Yes, you are depressed and it would be highly beneficial to see your doctor and perhaps he can prescribe something to help you with the depression. Not a big deal..... Hang in there and rant away when ever you need to. We are here to help you.

Are you happy with your sleeve

I'm back again. I am getting all my fluids in, pooped (tmi but the best NSV right after surgery), walking around the block 1x a day, walking a lot in my house, etc. 198 lbs down from 220. Sleeved June 11th. I do not regret this one bit. I wish I would have cared more when I started getting fat. Alas, this is the best tool for weight loss.

How about some NSVs!?!?

Today's NSV!!! Sooo Thankful!!
18. Went to my primary care physician for my annual physical today...everything is good, blood pressure, etc. but the best thing was I only had to use one gown and I could tie it without any gaps....that is my NSV for today!!!
19. @@Mick Molloy Fantastic! You are doing great! How long left of Optifast for you? @@steveelea great NSV Yous must be feeling pretty good! So happy for you all. Don't stress about the +1, I weighed myself and I was up 3kg but waited til the end of the week and it was gone plus some.. Damn fluctuation! Hate having scales it's always so tempting to jump on.
20. I guess I was just free writing my feelings. I apologize. Didn't realized my unappropriateness. I want her to have NSVs without the surgery.

OCTOBER 2014

Jello arms = 3/4 sleeves for me, but there are such few choices right now. However, when my arms are down they look great. Must practice a life devoid of wild waving, lol. NSV: Jumping into the car trunk to rescue a rogue can of chick peas, like that's what you do. Impossible before weight loss. I don't think my leg could have gone up that far. Life is good!

DeLarla vs. PhotoNut

Hi, i just posted this on another thread and wanted to add it here as well: Hi Beacheegirl, I dig what you are saying. ITs been all drama and soap opera here. I have been coming to this board for about 3 years now and I personally know Lisa and about another dozen bandsters personally. Had drinks with them, visited them at a Vegas Bash, celebrated NSV's, commisurated with eachother, suffered together etc... You have to understand this kind of bond. Some of the new folks (or quasi new) really need to appreciate the kinship that some of us had that really got this board up and running and spent lots of time helping those who needed help both with tough love and also kindness. Delarla (Lisa) rocks. She is a true friend to me and many others and she has been ousted wrongly. There are some folks here who should get the axe, but they haven't. The post under the guide of being helpful, but their tongues are double edge swords and they continue to fuel fires. If it were me, I would also defend my position. I would never let anyone walk on me or talk poorly of me. If it wasn't for this board, I never would have been as successful as I have been with my band. Babs in TX 334/180 ish -150 ish

The Gone for Good Club

Hi! Not too much to report but after the last fill on Monday - should see something soon. With 8.25 in there and only a small mini straw size opening into my pouch, I think I'm finally at my sweet spot. 229 (-1) 2 great NSV's though - down 8% body fat from surgery date so the doctor said technically I've lost more than 49 pounds (of FAT) and actually gained almost 20 pounds in muscle. They increased my goal weight by 25 pounds but I'm not changing what my mind says it should be. Oh, and the other one - my cholesterol is down from 330 (yeah, I know terrible) to 189 in 1 year!! My good cholesterol is way up and the bad is down even further. Plus my blood pressure was 112 over 75. Even though I didn't lose the 100 pounds I was hoping for since I just celebrated my 1 year anniversary last Saturday - I'm at least much, much healthier! Onto next week - here I come 50 pounds gone!!!

ABC September Chat

Oh Libra...be careful. You don't want that brand new band to slip. I'm so glad you feel fine now. You'll probably be able to have pizza a little later. I am so jealous of those of you with less conservative doctors than mine. He's such a stickler...two weeks of liquids b4 surgery, 4 weeks of liquids after surgery and 2 weeks of mushies. Ugh. I feel absolutely no restriction right now, either....so I'm going through the Soup pretty fast. I try so hard to eat slowly but it's not a natural thing for me (understatement of the century). I've been trying to keep my cals at about 1,000. Anyone else keeping track of their cals on Fitday or some other way? What do you guys think you're consuming cal-wise? BTW, I read some of those hateful posts on the other threads & I kept thinking to myself - "where's a thread killer when you need one?". So glad it's over and done with and really glad we have a haven of sanity right here with the ABC Club. :clap2: I had a NSV last night. I went to a fancy sit down dinner at a country club down the hill. When everyone sat down to dinner, I got in my car, came up the hill to my house, heated up soup, ate it, got back into my car and drove back to the club in time for their dessert. No one was the wiser. Pretty good, huh? I was really sweating that, and it turned out to be nothing. On top of that, I went to a huge bar b que today and stuck with my soup. Carried it around in a mug and other than drooling on a few people's hamburgers, I was fine. I can't say I didn't lust for their food, 'cause I did. I just lived through it and came out unscathed. Pretty nice feeling. Later!
