    Any August Sleevers out there?

I got sleeved Aug 2nd. I’m down 41 lbs since surgery and 61lbs from my starting weight before surgery. I plan on doing a 5 day pouch reset for the new year. I’ve had a few plateaus and I haven’t been great about the gym. But I’m almost out of the 200s. Haven’t been under 200 in almost 10 years
  2. Hi December sleevers..first congrats!...second... let's help each other get through this with positive motivation & honesty I know I need it. I was sleeved on 12/10 . I'm convinced my surgeon took my whole damn stomach out. Sent from my SM-N950U using BariatricPal mobile app

It’s crazy the vast differences in plans.

It is interesting... I was one week full liquids, then 2 weeks on purees. Now on Wednesday I can start softies until 10 weeks at which point I can go for it!

    HELP

If you were a small child, we could take you on our lap, hug you, pat your back , cry with you but tell you everything will be better. As adults, those options are no longer open. There is nothing wrong with seeking help, we all will need it at sometimes in our life. When we are young we can talk to an older person, if you were my family member, I would advise you to seek out a Bariatric- friendly professional. Shoot, I would accompany you to the first one for moral support. The bulimia worries me, you're punishing yourself and hurting your body in the process, skewing your electrolytes, your body will only stand so much and then bad things are going to multiply. Bulemia can lead to death, and I so don't want you lost to it. I can understand the fear of gaining back but don't sacrifice your life energy to prove your point. You need friends, we can do that but online we cannot cure you. Please. start 2019 getting emotional help, okay?

    Support and honesty needed

2Shea is right about your husband's issues. They're his and not yours, however, having him behind you makes the whole process much better. This can certainly work for those over 50. I was 58 when I was sleeved last February and I've lost 115 pounds in 10 months. You would likely lose more slowly since you're at a much lower starting weight, but the weight will go. See if you can bring him to a support group meeting where he can ask his questions and meet others who've been successful. Good luck!

    Third week in

Hi guys Newly into WLS this site has been of great help! ( I don't have any Lab Band / WLS friends to turn too) I have just moved onto pureed foods (and yet to have a fill) *Given the time of year I have reached out to my Dietitian a few days ago however have not had a reply so I am hoping for some advice. I am finding i am able to only eat between 5-10 teaspoons of food per day. Is this a normal amount being 3 weeks out? I am not interested in eating most the time but have been advised i should be putting something in? is this the case? Fluids are not filling me up (had Pho stock day before yesterday thinking it would be enough but it wasn't doing a thing) Also pains below the band (more like above the left hip below the port, what feels like digestion occurs an hour or so after eating / drinking if i lie down straight away. is this normal too? It doesn't feel like a blockage as i time my bites, and so so so conscious about how often I'm drinking (previous skull drinker so SUPER HARD not to do that!!!) Final question!!! How often does one find they are able to drink?? I am drinking one mouthful per minute but soooo hard not to drink quicker Sorry for the questions i was not able to find these answers in past things asked. TIA

    Speaking for myself

Bihhh, Eat everything. Joking joking. Take a bite. Toss it. Move to the next treat. If you like but... Join the ❤ January 2019 Challenge ❤ 😁😁😁😁😁😁
  9. It’s so true! It depends on the surgeon and I think what he/she is comfortable with...I was given a booklet at the beginning of my process but after surgery and my first post-op appointment which was six days after surgery I was told after 10 days I could start on soft foods based on how I was doing and tolerating shakes with no problem...we just have to go with what our team suggests for us...i was so happy to get off of shakes lol.

    Regrets???

7 days post op I wondered... why the ^&*( did I do this.???? I felt terrible...I'm feeling better having lost some about 10 pounds... but not getting my energy back as quickly as I thought I would. I had bronchitis & pheumonia, before my surgery... so I'm sure that took a toll on my body... still swollen a little... can't take a bath... I think it will be good...soon...and I won't regret it...

    October 2018 Sleevers

I have a different point of view about it, had surgery on 10/30 lost 28 lbs since surgery and 38 since preop diet and think it’s the way you look at it: I, for instance, think losing 28lbs in 8 weeks is amazing. I mean, I have never lost this much in less than 2 months! We tend to anticipate an unbelievably fast weight loss and it’s just not the way it is. I felt badly about my weight loss when I hit a stall and I decided to make a set of attainable goals for me to reach every month and I’ve been reaching them ever since. Everyone is different and we all lose at different pace. We should all be proud of what we’ve accomplished and not let ourselves lose motivation, because we’re going to get there sooner or later.

    October 2018 Sleevers

Yes! I had surgery 10/29 and I'm so stalled again. I've only lost 24 pounds. Very depressed. Sent from my SM-G960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  13. As I continue on in my post op phases, it’s crazy to me how different the plans are for the phases. Like I’m day 19 post op and doing the blended purée phase that lasts two weeks. I see some folks, same timeline, already on to soft foods. Some things that folks are allowed to eat, I’m told to never eat again. I figured there would be more standardization in this. Boy was I wrong!!

    Be Happy

Here is to looking to 2019 and everything it will bring with it.
  16. Well, it has been a while since i posted a status update.. So long, I forgot how to do it LOL.. Well i just surpassed the 7 week mark. I am overall feeling great. Learning how to eat is ongoing. I am learning to take time between bites so i am not overly full by bite 3. I am down almost 50 pounds total. The scale stalled again but only for a few days. It was just this morning it moved a smidge, so hopefully i will be down 50 pounds by new year :) Or at least by 2 months on Jan 8th. I am getting ready to join a gym.. I will go next week and see if i like the LA Fitness near the dance studio i go to. I would really like a personal trainer but will see what happens. I am excited for 2019 and all it has to offer and all that i can offer it! I have a family reunion coming up in Connecticut in June, and i have not told any of them i had the surgery. I also do not post pics on my facebook on purpose these days. I want next summer to be a super surprise to everybody there!  My main focus is to learn how to eat so that i can consume more each meal. My other main focus needs to be tracking calories. I am good at tracking water and somewhat protein, but not to the T.. That is going to be my biggest obstacle but i hope to have a handle on it by Feb1st is my goal time frame.

    October 2018 Sleevers

I'm also a "slow" loser. I had surgery 10/22 and am at 24.6 lost 9 weeks in. I gained my fourth week in. I've lost every other week, but my body does this weird thing where one week I will lose a little, like .6 or 1.4 or something like that and then the next week is 3+ loss. Every other week. Low, high, low, high. Very weird. My body is not consistent and it's frustrating but I need to learn to be ok with the pattern so I don't feel like a failure. Stick to your program as far as protein amounts, serving sizes and calorie limits if you were given any...it will work! I keep telling myself that. 🥰 Sent from my Pixel 3 using BariatricPal mobile app

    December 2018 Sleevers!

I’m 19 days post op and hit 30lbs down this morning. Getting a lil spring in my step!! Loving the results so far. Have a great weekend all!!
  19. Also posted in veteran's forum Through trial & error, I have hit a point where maintenance just feels normal. My eating habits are so ingrained that I'd actually have to TRY to regain. NEVER thought I'd say THAT! My sleeve was 1/23/12 and I was 275. Within 9 months I was at goal, had tt/panni 10/2013. Maintenance was a very thin tight-rope. I was following the plan, high Protein, low fat, almost no carbs. It worked but 1 tiny splurge and I'd be up a pound or so. I hovered around 120-125. Which is great, but it was taking so much vigilance. About a year ago, I noticed that when I ate my favorite ribs from a local BBQ place, my weight dropped. Calories didn't seem to matter?? After noticing this pattern for a bit, I began experimenting with other fatty foods. Olive oil, butter, real cheese, eggs, Mayonnaise, avocados, burgers (sans bun) When I eat these foods, I get full quickly and have no hunger for HOURS! Fat at Breakfast is important for me as then I naturally eat less throughout the day. I eat whatever I want, stop at the 1st sign of full, only eat when PHYSICALLY hungry. I splurge once a month or so (really, that's all I desire as I am very satisfied with my eating) When I DO splurge on pizza, bagel, dessert, etc... I THOROUGHLY enjoy the F#*K out of it! Now, I eat what I want, enjoy what I eat, no cravings, no weighing or measuring, no counting calories & no stress maintenance. My desires to binge eat have been gone for a long time. Surprisingly my cholesterol is NORMAL, I feel great and my weight hovers between 116-117. Now I (FINALLY) can eat to live not live to eat! I'm very happy that I've found what works for me, I would love to understand WHY?

    What to do when dumping?

This is exactly what I want to know. If dumping is insulin issue why would a person not have some kind of medication available to counter it? Like Ive heard of people suffering up to 10 hours and it seems like there must be some remedy for that? Im talking about dumping right after eating

    January 2019

    I’m having mine on January 9, 2019
  24. Finally got a date set. February 5. I had really wanted January but the office drug their feet until all the dates were full. My surgeon was open to either surgery, but my gerd can get really nasty so I didn’t want to risk it getting worse. Bypass for me.
