  1. Good evening, Violets. Just in from the hot tub and doing my toning exercises in there. It's 24 degrees out so it was a beautiful night to be in a hot tub under the stars. Watched American Idol and I think the right person went home. Suzie.. David is still doing great!! And my doctor is very compassionate. When we hit a plateau he just says .. do you think you need a fill? Then he says not to worry, it will come off. Just keep at it. It takes time. And I always know exactly why I stay the same or gain. It's all in my hands now. While the initial weight came off quick, it's taking forever now, but I feel so good about how far I have come. I went to a clothing store here in Alpena that I had never been to in the 24 years we have lived here. The clothing is expensive and the sizes run small. I got a couple of sweaters in size L for next winter and a Pendleton big shirt for 60% off. Such a deal and the lady who owns the shop is a member of our Alpena church. She couldn't stop gushing about how good the Bobster and I looked. Never once did she ask us how we did it.. just kept saying how amazing it was. Same thing happened at the library last Sunday. I had not seen the librarian in awhile and she was just floored. First words out of her mouth were.. "Hi... oh my gosh Judy, you've lost a lot of weight!". Those are the things that keep me going. The little NSV's that come when you're least expecting them make it all worthwhile. I just wish my parents had lived to see me finally succeed at this weight loss challenge. Ethan comes again in the morning, so I better head to bed. Hopefully I won't get konked on the head again!! Everyone have a good night. Sleep well.

My DH and I are celebrating our 9 yr wedding anniversary tomorrow. (that's not the NSV - but I'd call it a victory anyway!) We planned a little weekend trip away just the 2 of us for this upcoming weekend. Tonight when I came home from work, there were 3 new outfits laying on our bed. (note - my husband has NEVER bought clothes for me) He wanted me to have pretty new clothes for our weekend that didn't droop and sag. (everyone say, Awwwww....) I saw that all the clothes were a 1X, so I was like, "oh sweetie, you are so precious, but I don't think I'll fit in them yet." He wanted me to try. GUESS WHAT?!! They fit beautifully. And they were cute too! It has been 5 years since I fit in a 1X. Yay!!!

This is exactly my NSV as well. I have this super tight black pair of jeans that I could barely squeeze my big butt/gut in and I tried them on last week and they actually fit nicely. Another five pounds and they will be on their way to the clothing exchange!

Im not sure if it will help my hair loss but I bought some Biotin today...cant hurt to try it for a bit. oh and I had a NSV...well not quite sure what to call it but I have not weighed myself in 2 days and I am proud of myself. I was addicted to weighing myself. I didnt let it affect me or anything but I wanted/needed to know what that dumb number was. Oh and a girl that I see every day at the gym tapped me on the arm yesterday and told me I was doing really good. We have never spoken before and this is the person I look at to find my footing when I am tripping over my step and trying to keep up so I was shocked and excited when she said that. Its the little things in life that mean so much :-) I hope everyone is doing great. how is abi doing? kat how is that mouth of yours?? Im off to the dentist today...there is so much work to be done in my mouth that I wish I could just start all over again. and if I had the money I surely would!!!

    NSV for me!!

I normally don't post alot - mostly read, read, and read some more but I am so excited right now I just have to share. I had been wearing my size 26 pants and was getting really tired of how baggie they were and thought I'd pop into WalMart to see if they had any good clearance deals on pants so I could actually get something a little smaller. I took a 20 and a 22 into the fitting room and tried on the 20 and they actually FIT!!! I was so totally excited that I grabbed an 18 as well (they were on sale for only $7.00 which I thought was a totally awesome deal) so I would have another pair for when I lose a little more. Well, I got home and decided to try on the 18's and guess what - THEY ACTUALLY FIT!! A little snug but they FIT!! I can't remember the last time a size 18 fit me. :cool2: I have lost almost 50 pounds since I was banded on 10/29/07 - things have plateaued a bit but I know I have lost inches since starting to work out 3-4 times a week. I don't think anyone will be wiping the smile off my face for a while - by the way - I LOVE MY BAND!!!! :huh2:

Great thread! I love to hear these NSV's! Today I wore a favorite sweater that I haven't been able to put on in a long time . . . but I was able to get it on today without a problem! It felt so nice! And my wedding ring was getting tight, I honestly was afraid to wear it, thinking it might get stuck :blushing: But today I slipped it on without a problem! WOOT! Keep up the good work all!

    Marchies Bandiversary Month

Mrs Husker-- big W00T for breaking your plateau! That always feels good. OH Julie--WOW great avatar pic! You look hot! And you are so close to onderland, you will get there soon I'm sure. Everyone--we are doing great at 1 year. Big props to all! I finally got into the size 8 jeans the other day, that was a big NSV for me. :clap:Running really seems to help. I can only run for 6 minutes at a time so far, and last night I did a total of 17 minutes in 4 blocks over a 49 minute session on the treadmill. It's getting better, easier (a little). About sizes, I think it's funny that the sizes we hated when we were gaining weight, we LOVE when we lose weight again. I remember MANY years ago getting to a size 10 and being disgusted that I was in "double digits". Wow, that was probably 15 years ago? I never saw size 10 again until a couple of months ago, and it was like a long lost friend. Of course, sizes are a little bigger than they were 15 years ago...(shhhh!) OK, ladies, have a great weekend and happy bandiversary to the early Marchies!
  13. I think I need a hip replacement. Last night we had the next door neighbors over along with their in-laws and a few other friends. It's Mike last weekend here. He leaves for Kosovo on Monday and will be gone a whole year. We decided to have a real nice get together for him and spend as much time as we could. So off to the store I went and spent about a hundred dollars on food. We ended up having a shrimp fry and boil. OMGoodnes. It was absolutely delicious. I mean better than and restaurant I've been too. So afterwards we go over to their house to play Wii. Here lies my problem. I think I threw my hip out playing bowling. We had such a good time and spent 2 hours laughing like crazy. Now I need to go figure out how to do a workout today so I can burn off the 10 shrimp I managed to get down last night. When is Tracy supposed to be back from her Honeymoon? Michelle, congrats on the NSV. That was awesome. Everyone have a great day.
  14. Good morning violets- I actually slept all night and if I had weird dreams, i don't remember them! Those Chantix pills have been making me wake up 4 times a night so last nast was a real peaceful and restful night! I really needed that. Man...it is quiet with macy gone. I know she is having a blast. The party for her 'pop' went good yesterday. I only had one small sliver of cake. OH...I forgot to tell you all something. I ate a fold over chicken salad sandwich the other day! You are probably thing....ummm, so what. Here is the deal. That is the first peice of bread I have allowed myself to eat since 04/11/07. OMG, you would have thought it was a 9 course meal. I devoured every bite! It is nice to be in control of what I stick in my pie hole!! Anyway, I am just proud of that and wanted to share it with you all. Terri-ask your ps if he has a 2 for 1 deal going on :tea: Kat-i feel so bad for you. I am praying that your tooth heals quickly! Jane-you were a woman of alot of words in your last post....are you OK? Judy-how was your concert last night? Michelle-great NSV! way to go!! Pam-are you still on your trip? Jenn-hope you are feeling better! Laura-I meant to tell you I really enjoyed the religion vs. science thing you posted on here. love loved it! Hi Haydee, Suzie, denise, TracyKS and all my other violet sistas!! Have a great Saturday!!

    Port/Scar moved???

HA! Mine did the same thing. The more you lose the lower things go, including scars. A friend of mine was banded a couple of weeks ago and I commented to the doc that her scars are soooo much higher than mine. He smiled and said mine used to be that high too. ;o) It's a good thing, consider it a NSV~

Being able to buy my clothes in the misses section (all those choices make my head spin) I have loved reading all the posts and promise to participate more now that I am feeling human again!!! Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters

I would love to meet up at Mall of America. We usually go to Missouri to see my dad in the beginning of July but my son will be in drivers ed this year so he won't finish until sometime later in July and then we will be going. The school hasn't given the EXACT dates yet. Other than that I am pretty open to any dates really. Steph-Oh girl!!! I am the queen of PMS!!! LOL Just ask the family :tea: I swing from mood to mood faster than tarzan swings from tree to tree. LOL So glad to hear that you are feeling better today and focusing on the accomplishments you have made. Ok now I want to rant a minute. I have been on this $#%@ plateau for 6 weeks now. I was walking and walking and exercising like a fiend this week and still nothing!!!!! I am really hoping that once aunt flo gets here the scale will start moving again or I will have to take a hammer to it to save my sanity!!! I was so angry today about no loss and all the work that when I was in the grocery store I bought a package of sugar free wafer cookies. (suger free but still too many calories! ) Anyway, I came home this morning with them and I opened the package and had 4 (that is considered a serving. 140 calories) Then as I was on the computer I kept thinking about those cookies and I wanted more. Well I dont trust myself lately so finally I just went to the kitchen and took the package and dumped the damn things in the garbage. Then tonight we were in Wal Mart and they had Blue Bunny SF chocolate almond ice cream. I picked it up, put it back, picked it up and put it back and then just went back and picked it up and thought "I am buying this.' Anyway I got to the checkout and the line was long and as I stood there in line I argued with myself in my head and told myself you really don't need this and you have 45 minutes to drive home anyway so it will be melted. The devil in my head said 'just have them double bag it in plastic bags and tie it off to keep it frozen.' The Angel won. When I got up to the cashier and they were scanning my things when he picked up the ice cream ready to scan it I said 'I don't want that. I live 45 minutes away and it will not be frozen when I get home so could you just have someone put it back.' I DID IT!!!!!!!!! Walked out feeling a lot better. Came home thinking 'the scale better have moved. The damn thing didn't but you know what.......even though I am not happy about that I didn't give in to the attitude to F it I haven't lost any so what is the point?! Major NSV for me today I can tell you because I really love that ice cream and our local grocery store doesn't carry that specific one. :w00t:

4jin: NSV's are what keep me going from day to day. Here are a few I've had recently: I can wrap a normal bath towel around after a shower. My legs don't look like tree trunks anymore. My fingers look long instead of looking like overstuffed sausages. My favorite is that I have collar bones. They showed up about twenty pounds ago! I look forward to reading these posts. It feels good to read others NSV's.

The Cross, Tuck & Twist - NSV

Congrats, that's a great NSV!!! I can't wait till I get there, I do the fake out now. But that's a NSV for me, because I used to not even be able to fake it, lol!
  22. Wooooo Hoooooo on the great NSV's, Michelle!! That's awesome. The Bobster and i will be going back to our second church in Lewiston, Michigan on the 30th. We haven't been back there in years. It will be interesting to see what people say when we arrive. We served there 11 years before our 19 years in Alpena. It's only about an hour away from here and that's where 3 of our 4 kids were born. Daughter Kris was 2 when we left and she's 25 now. Can't believe how quickly time files! At least when I go back, I'll be standing proud and not depressed about how I look. Time for me to shower and get dressed for my concert tonight. I'll be home late as we're going out to eat afterwards. For me, I'll be going out to PB probably.. :tt2: Sure do know I have a band!!! Everyone have a good evening!!
  23. Hello Vi's!~~ No, Judy, I did not get to rest or relax today... not yet, anyway. But it's rain-storming here now thru tomorrow so all ds's soccer practices & games for tonight & tomorrow have been cancelled, so I'm thinking that in a few I may crash on the couch & finally RELAX!! I had a MAJOR NSV today!! Today 2 friends & I went to "Let's Dish!", the food prep kitchen where I used to work part-time 'til last Fall, to dish up some tasty meals for the month. Even tho I don't work there, I still go there 1x/mo to dish dinners & chat w/everyone. So I'm there and in walks a former co-worker, Tammy, and I say, "Hi Tammy!" and she looks at me and... ready for it?... SHE DID NOT RECOGNIZE ME!! This is the first time that this has happened to me since banding! I've had people notice my wt loss (esp. this past week @ school, I've been basking in all the compliments, actually), but not completely not know it's me! Of course, once she realized it was me, she freaked out & wanted to know ALL about the band. She could use it. Not being mean, just honest. Hey, if a former fattie can't be honest w/a current one, then we're all doomed! So that was WAY COOL! But then we went out to lunch @ Red, Hot & Blue (a BBQ place) and I got the Chop salad w/chicken on it and I barely ate 3 or 4 bites and BAM! I knew I had to PB it all up... so off to the bathroom I go, and we all know what happened there, so I won't bore you w/the details... WEIRD! My 2nd full-fledged PB in a week! Of course, I didn't eat any more, brought it home, and am now starving (my tummy's even rumbling loudly) & I'm scared to eat it!! Grrrrr. And that's my day! How's yours??

    How often do you weigh?

I pledge to only weight once a week for the month of March! Anyone else with me? I will focus on my NSVs, (non-scale victories). All the wonderful little things that happen to my body as I continue to lose weight and get healthier. Things that I won't see on the digital scale readout. Things I might not see at all if I am only looking at the arbitrary number on the scale. I will be a loser, not a number. Who's with me?
