  1. Have to be out of the house early today, I had my husband wake me up at 5am to workout. I woke up feeling pretty good actually. Not too tired or sluggish. I did my workout video, showered, and then got my girls up to get ready. I'll be focusing on my fluids once again today. In fact, I need to do this everyday. I won't worry about what I'm not eating, but what I may not be getting in fluid wise. I had an awful dream that my throat was so dry and I couldn't find a store to get a drink. Now, I'm pretty sure that dream was because my throat was pretty dry last night!!!! It was awful. I don't want a dream like that again. LOL Water it is today!!! OH....as I was working out in my pj's (best part of not having to go anywhere), my bottoms slipped down! LOL NSV!!! Ya'll have a blessed day! I'll check back in later.

Stephanie, I totally agree with you, protein makes you not feel as hungry. Its so odd! But true. I remember when they used to say eat lots of complex carbohydrates.. lol nowonder America ended up getting fatter and fatter. But I just can't give up my carbs completely lol. Pre band I did the Atkins diet (low carb) and was pretty successful on it I lost about 40 pounds pretty quickly but eventually I just felt like I couldn't live without carbs and I ended up gaining all my weight right back plus some more. Thats why now Im trying to eat a little of everything but focusing on having more protein. And Im trying really hard to make rules and boundaries for myself like drinking LOTS of water, not eating anything after 6:00 pm, eating the healthy stuff first like protein and vegetables and then having just a bite or two of the tasty carbs I like so much. I really hope it works! I just have to share a NSV I had today too, earlier this summer I ordered some T-shirts online and they were a size 2x but they are the tight fitting kind so they are more like a 1x or XL even.. and of course they looked terrible on my fat rolled tummy hanging over the tops of my too tight shorts so I never wore them. Then today it was kind of cool/breezy outside so I put on a pair of jeans that are now loose yay! and thought Id try on one of the T'shirts and oh my goodness it fit and was a bit roomy even!! Oh happy day.

Thanks everyone for all the kudos! I have been so happy all day - and had a couple of NSV's as well...I pulled a top out of my closet that I haven't worn in over a year and it fit great and looked good and I was swimming in my 4X stretch pants and dug in a drawer for a 3X and it fit great, too! I had dinner at Applebee's with a co-worker that I haven't seen since the begining of June (we work for the school district and get summers off) and she was amazed at how different I look already at only 38 lbs gone! That was great, too! When I walk back into the school on Aug. 28th I hope to be down another 5 lbs or so. I get my fill tomorrow morning...yippee!! Hang in there Baylor Mom...I'm sure you'll feel better after your fill. I'll let you know how mine goes

I've felt the same way about the posting. Its why I wasn't as active either. I hope we can get to be more supportive of one another! Its wonderful when we have NSV, of course it is also awesome to see the scale move down, and kind of scary to see it move up like it did for me this weekend. I'm back on track though. I made myself some Jello to have when I feel like I need to snack. That way it isn't too many calories and I add a little fat free whipped topping which is only 20 cals!

NSV - I had to see a vascular surgeon yesterday to treat a burst varicose vein - he measured my thighs for the compression stockings I have to wear for a week (can you say old lady!). I have lost 4 inches in EACH of my thighs!!! Holy crap! By the way, if any of you have leftover varicose veins from pregnancy go get them checked. I never knew ....until it happened....that you can "spring a leak" from a vein and it bleeds like a cattle slaughter. I know this will sound unbelievable but when I got out of the car at the ER, I SPRAYED blood all over the car next to us and left a spraying blood trail all the way inside. I am fine but it was shocking - learn from my procrastination and go see the vascular guy and get them checked.

Kari, My doc recommends the same...protein shake in a.m. and then try to eat food for the rest of the day. Colleen: Kari told you about that unjury powder. Well, since I'm not one that loves to drink those protein drinks (I find them pretty gross...have tried many), I took the vanilla unjury and added a scoop to skim milk, then added in some chocolate or chocolate fudge sugar free Jello brand pudding mix....didn't measure just sprinkled it in. Now, that's what I drink every morning. It's delicious...tastes like hot chocolate. I ran out of unjury (it is low in calories, low in carbs and 20 grams protein a scoop), so my hubby bought me some "On 100% Whey Gold Standard" He bought it from the Vitamin Shoppe and it has 120 calories, only 3 carbs and 24 grams protein. The flavor is Vanilla Ice Cream, but again, I just added that sugar free pudding mix to make it a chocolate drink. I haven't tried it with anything else yet, but I may try a smoothie tomorrow with strawberries or something. I had an NSV (nonscale victory) yesterday. I tried on a pair of jeans that just 4 weeks ago, I could barely get up over my Big (but shrinking) ***. Well, I could button them up yesterday!!! I couldn't zip and didn't feel like lying down on the bed to do that (did any of you do that in high school/college?) but the fact that I had them on and buttoned is significant for me!!! By the time it gets colder here they will fit!!! I have 2 pairs to wear as I shrink!!! Yayyy!!! I know only you guys on here can relate to my happiness!!!

Hi all July folk: It's nice to hear your stories, victories and comforting to hear the support for those having down days. I too am having a down time with my DH's caregiver situation. We went through 4 in seven days. I don't think the agency is being up-front with the fact that he needs a lot of assistance due to 2 strokes. The lady who left yesterday (in her Ghanian accent) said "they told me I would be sitting for an elderly man (well, he's not THAT old) but they didn't tell me I would have to observe him." Duh. When you take care of disabled people you usually need to keep an eye on them. Anyway....I went back to square one and am going in a different direction than the agency. I am just so depressed today. I have something in place for next week but still feel so overwhelmed by it all. I miss pieces of him so much. His strokes have changed our lives and I try not to get down about it but....well, wish me luck, please. On a happy note I had a nice NSV yesterday. One of our teachers is a "Mr. Muscle" competitor (whatever they are called....body-builder). We are kind chummy (I listened to his divorce saga #1 and #2). I had the opportunity to chat with him yesterday and asked him if he did protein drinks and what does he use. We had a conversation about protein, etc and I finally told him about my band. He said "I KNEW you had lost weight but some women freak if you say anything. You look amazing!". Wow. That was lovely coming from mr. beautiful body. Michelle....the Hooters pic MAY be your best yet. What a perfect Halloween costume. I don't think my principal would approve though....what do you think...lol???? YOU are a hoot. Have a nice weekend all you nice July people. Ruthie

    December sleevers!

Tomorrow I will be 8 weeks out. To date down 55 pounds and counting! I feel great and love the NSVs more than the SVs. I started out wearing size 22 jeans and I'm in a loose 18 at the moment. Can't wait to hit 16s! I also love doing my vlog on youtube. I can eat pretty much anything besides chicken and have found that I need to get in enough carbs or my weight loss stalls. I went through a two week stall and then another one week stall. But 55 pounds?? I'm happy!!

hi everyone - has everyone left us? Or just too busy to check in? Well I had such a great nsv yesterday that I had to come on and tell. We were on our way to watch wrestling and stopped at Chili's for something to eat. When we pulled in my dh said oh look theres someone from the lake (a sticker on the car bc its a private community) so we walked in an there were 2 of our members sitting at the bar, they turned and looked at us so I waved real big and nothing. She was on her cell phone and walking toward us, and I'm waving ... nothing. Meanwhile Don was sitting at the bar and looking right through me. So as she's walking right up to me, 6 inches away, I said hey! She stopped and stared at me for a minute and I said how are you? She said omg I didn't know that was you! So we said hello and sat down. She comes back over to our table and says Steph, you have lost so much weight I didn't know who you were. She said I saw you waving and I'm thinking I don't know anyone in JOhnstown she must be waving at someone behind me. LOL she said you look sooooooooo good, how much weight have you lost? I said 65 lbs and she said omg I just lost 5 and thought that was good, you look marvolous! So that was nice. Then here comes her husband and he pretty much said the same thing, we didn't know who you were. After they left I said to dh, wow, I didnt' think I'd lost that much more weight since last time I saw them - which would've been Oct. - maybe 10 or 15 lbs? He said well 15 lbs is alot of weight. I guess 15 lbs is alot of weight when you are so close to your goal but when you have 100lbs to lose it doesn't seem like much. So that was really cool. Then we went to wrestling. High school stuff with all the district schools there, half way through I got up to go to pee and on the way out a guy yells hey good looking! I turned (crazy to think they'd be talking to me right?) and it was an old friend of ours. He hugged me and said wow you look great! So last night was very ego boosting for me. Especially since I've been hovering around 165 forever. I told my dh that I think I'm happy at this weight, if I can just get the tummy tuck I wouldn't care if I lost another pound. He agreed. When I first started on this journey that was the one thing he and the girls told me, they didnt' want me to lose too much weight, and I think I'm at a comfortable size now. And I think my husband is proud to be seen with me. So there you have it. That was my excitement for the night.

Well it looks as if our steadies have abandoned the forum. I guess I'll have to share my HUGE HUGE HUGE nsv with anyone else who may happen upon our abandoned thread. I hit my goal last night. My ultimate goal that I told the dr about. It wasn't about how much weight I needed to lose but I needed to lose the weight to get to my goal. Did that make sense? Ok so last night for the first time in 30 years..... I Water skied!:sleep: On one of my very first visits to my band doctor I told him I just wanted to get healthy and to be able to do the things I haven't been able to do ... like waterski. So last night we were out on the boat and the kids were wakeboarding and kneeboarding and I said I think I want to ski. They all looked at me like  I said really and with 100% support from my sweet family I jumped in the lake. I said I'm going to try 5 times. I was up and down the first 5 trys but finally on the 6th time I did it. I got up and I stayed up and I skied around the lake. I'm very happy and proud of myself. My hubby said you could have done it before and I said no I couldn't have ever pulled all that weight up out of the water. He was also proud of me. And I inspired my dd's boyfriend to give it a try. He had tried a couple years ago and couldn't get up and just gave up trying. But after seeing me do it he decided to give it another try and he not only got up he LOVED it. Yep - this is it - this is what the lapband has done for me - I love it.

DonnaMarie - so good to hear from you! You're doing great Congrats on tying the knot, too  I am happy for you that you have such a supportive husband. Keep up the great work! Mary, hang in there with your mom...she's lucky to have you there with her. Sorry to hear she's having so much pain issues. I had the greatest NSV ever today - I was in the waiting room to be called in to see my lap band PA, and the girl that called me in opened the door and saw me sitting there and said "OMG look at you!" super loud in the waiting room. It was so cool! Then I walked through the door and all the nurses and my PA were standing behind the desk right inside the door and they just looked at me and their mouths opened and no one said anything, so I went "ta-da!" They all were laughing. My PA said I'm doing "phenomenal" about 6 times and said I am ahead of schedule and losing more like a gastric patient. He said he was very proud of me. That made me feel so good. Just wanted to share Oh - I'm down 107!!!

Hey everyone! I've been lurking the past few days...I haven't really had any updates lately, but now I want to scream from the mountains (I don't have any around me so I'll scream here!) I BROKE MY PLATEAU!!!!!!! It only lasted 5 weeks, I don't know why I'm so excited(!). I finally lost 4 more pounds. I went in for a fill again, and have been at the gym 3 days a week during the work week for a 40-60 minute elliptical session and both sat and sun for a 90 minute workout session of 45 minutes elliptical and 45 minutes stationary bike. If anyone told me 6 months ago I'd be at the gym this much, I would have called them crazy! Thats a great NSV Slikchik - I tried doing something similar. My dog weighs about 25lbs and I took her out for a walk a little while back. We came up to this big hill and I decided to carry her up the hill, since I had already lost 35lbs I figured it would be no big deal! Hell No! I had to put her down after 30 seconds!!! YIKES! Awesome job JULI on the tour de france challenge. And Denise - don't feel too bad about not making the challenge, you know you were working it at the gym! I envy you guys and your biking! I tried the stationary bike at the gym and did 14 miles last weekend. I shocked myself!

I really enjoy all the pictures. You all look great. I love the public toilet thing, I been there and never really thought of it as NSV. That great way of thinking. Let me tell you what I did this morning. Went to the store and got all the wrong things. Ice cream, pie, muffins and candy bar along with salad, protien bars and milk. I came home and ate one muffin, and the pie filling, no crust, just the filling. Sometimes I think I'm crazier than a loon. That is all that I have eaten today, but not very diet friendly. I will have a salad tonight. Just why do I do these crazy thing? Of course had this been before the band I would have eaten all 4 muffins and the crust. By the way the muffin didn't go down well and I won't be eating muffins anytime soon. Carol

Denise and Hazelbunny - you guys look great. Oh Juli - I noticed your little pic changed too, noticing some big differences! Congrats Congrats All!!! I just wanted to thank you guys and this website, it really has inspired me to get off my a$$. I always had an excuse not to exercise and I was talking to one of the health nuts at work yesterday; he told me to wake up earlier to go to the gym. And I did. Today I woke up at 4 30, went to the gym, jumped on the elliptical trainer for 45 min, burned over 500 calories, jumped in the shower and drove up to work. And I feel so much better! I'm sure I'll be tired until it becomes routine, but I've already planned to go the rest of the week. Instead of getting home, taking care of puppy, eating dinner, and then sitting on the couch procrastinating, I'm already taken care of. Its a great feeling. One more thing - NSV. This may sound crazy, but if I ever went to a public bathroom I would always use the handicap stall because it was so much bigger. If I used a regular stall, not only would I be constantly bumping into something, I would have to pretty much stand on the toilet to open the stall door. Well, the handicap stall was in use last night so I went into a regular stall, and DIDN'T HAVE TO STAND ON THE TOILET!!! I just opened the door like a normal person. I was so excited. Ok enough about me!!!

hi all! Hugs ruthie! congrats on the nsv's! i have finally gotten to 50 lbs. my goal was 60 by christmas but 50 is good! i think i put some on over the last week. not too much but we'll see when i go back to school on the 2nd. i weigh myself on the nurse's scale. my mom's 75th birthday is in feb and i am flying to see her. i will try to jump start my weight loss by going back to liquids or oatmeal for breakfast. my doc reminded me at my last appt that oatmeal or 1 egg will stick with me longer than liquids for breakfast so i will try it. i am also going to stick to mushy meat for lunch. then reg for dinner with less carbs which seems to help. maybe i can lose 20 by mid feb???? it;s a little high but shoot for the stars and reach the moon! Happy new year all!

Stetsi Stephani, I don't know how you can deal with plucking ppls eyebrows lol. I could NOT do it lol. I can barely handle having my own done, I keep my eyes closed the whole time! Ouch! I think it would be fun to put make up on ppl though. So have you ever purposely made someone look like a clown? Like some really obnoxious rude person? lol I would hhehehe. *evil grin* Michelle that picture is so funny! Even my husband got a kick out of that one. Im so glad we have this julyster thread. When we all become skinny bi**hes we'll have to have a big hurrah in some tropical place. ericsmom Stefanie, congrats on the nsvs! I can't wait until you start posting some before and after pictures, Im sure the change is remarkable. Keep up the good work!! You motivate me sooo much. Thank you. Ruthie, hope you feel better soon. I'll pray that you do and that you find a good caregiver too. Beth congratulations on becoming a purrfect grandma! lol for years my Mom was my cat's grandma too hehe. Everyone talks about my cat like he's a person, its so funny. Even now and I have 2 daughters. Isn't it funny how attached we can get to our four-legged friends. Im back to square one on my strep throat, the antibiotic shot they gave me started to seem to work for a bit, but now it seems my infection is over-powering it. Im going to go back in tomorrow and get a different anti-biotic. I feel like im just post-op again as im on a liquid diet. Its hell. Ive never had strep before this, it feels like theres a razor blade stuck in the back of my throat. The worst part is, im dehydrated because I can barely drink liquids even. So I think my breast milk is drying up. *sniff*.

Hey everyone!! I haven't been here in a while because I've been sooo busy! I have no idea how much wieght I have lost because I'm in nyc without a scale, but I'll know tomorrow when I go back home to Maryland. I'm going crazy because I live in a 4th floor walkup and its been hard - because I am normally so tired coming home. I know I've lost weight though! But yesterday at Ikea, I had their salmon and I had my first PB! It was scary but I knew it wasn't going down so I just stood in the bathroom until it came up. I thought it was over but I had to go back to PB the rest of it after that. I was on liquids until today. I felt so much better. Its not something I'd like to do a lot, but it wasn't the worst thing in the world! My fill is finally kicking in! I think its the stress.... I had an audition for casting at my school and got a callback so I have to audition again tomorrow... wish me luck! I've been sooo stressed- with my new apartment and such, but hopefully it will go away soon Alright, I have to get going so good job everyone with your NSVs!!! Speaking of NSV, I have one... I am getting compliments left and right from friends and teachers! woohoo

Okay guys, I've got to share my first nsv with you. As you might have read I'm in Nashville shopping until Thursday and I had looked at Opry Mills and 3 other huge malls for pants today. I went to Macy's, Penney's, Sears, Old Navy, Buckle, Aeropotale, Goody's, you name it and they were all stretch jeans and I may be out of style but I just don't like them. Finally of all places I found some Lee Riders, low rise at Walmart here in Nashville, so I went into the dressing rooms and took several sizes. The size that fit with extra room was an 18 regular, no stretch, no plus, just 18. I let out a yep that you could probably here all over the store. I bought them and a 16 for later. Now this may not mean much to you skinny people but I was in 24's 3 months ago so I'm so excited. Just had to share. I'm sitting here in the hotel on my laptop exhausted from all of the looking but it was soooo much fun. First time in years I didn't have to go to Lane Bryant.

Arcael - congrats on the NSV! It's great that you've been meeting with a personal traininer as well. Regarding your testing, I'm proud of you for taking them. Working on the mental aspects of your life is just as important as the physical ones. I was seeing a psychologist before I started pursuing getting the band because of an overbearing boss I had. Now I am learning that a lot of my issues that I have are related to the physical person I have become. I will continue to see her monthly to work on my depression issues. If you are indeed diagnosed with AADD, then you'll be able to learn tools to help you live with the disorder and succeed. :clap2: Good for you!

I did my weekly weigh in this morning and couldn't believe my eyes - I am down 7.4 lbs just this week!! I thought for sure I had skipped a week of recording, but when I went to my chart, it was right. It's amazing what a fill will do for you! And I was worried I ate to much tuna salad :huggie: I know I won't lose that much every week, my average has been 4.5, but it was a nice surprise. I had a teacher come in today to set up his classroom and he said "You look like you've lost some weight". I said yes - I told him what I did. I figure if the head secretary, who is quite a gossip, knows, then why try to keep a secret. He was very excited for me and said maybe we could start a Green Wing health club Tomorrow my principal is taking me to Applebee's for lunch. I was supposed to go to dinner with a teacher, but she had to cancel. I'm kinda glad because I didn't really want to eat out twice. She and I will reschedule for some time after school starts. I also had an NSV today - I wore a short-sleeved sweater that has been in my closet and untouchable. I had my DS take pictures of me today as I haven't been taking any. I figure since I'm almost to 50 lbs lost, it was a good time to take a picture.

To those who have posted about NSV's today, congrats to you all! They really feel great, don't they?!
  24. I'm curious as to how everyone else is setting their goal weights. I've seen very successful bandsters be just outside of the normal BMI and originally I was trying to get inside the BMI but at 5' 8" (sometimes 5' 9" depending on who's measuring) and an x-large frame (I know it's x-large because the doctors measured that, too) I don't know if 155, which was my original goal, is that realistic. Even my nutritionist told me to be a bit more conservative. LOL! So, I reset it to 170 thinking that if I hit that, maybe I can re-evaluate to see where I am. I have a long way, still, but the road doesn't look AS long as it did. I'm curious to hear - what are your goals for your height? I'd love to know! I just think it helps me to hear from other bandsters and know that ultimately it's probably the NSVs that really matter. Ginger

:clap2:Hi BJ, sounds like there's a good chance you'll get your fill at 6 weeks after all, that't great. DH stands for "dear husband", DW is "dear wife", NSV is non scale victory, like even though the friggin scale doesn't move, you have lost an inch off your waist (which just happened for me). Inches gone are important because as you gain muscle mass, muscle is heavier than fat so that will show up heavier on the scale, which is a good thing because muscle actually burn the most fat. There is a thread somewhere I know not where, that explains all the "lingo". For instance, I am close, but not close enough for me to "onederland", that glorious place where the scale number starts with a "1" again. And there is a group of delightful people who started an "on the road to Twoterville" thread to encourage and applaud each others victories/goal, both big and small. AMRDMR
