Hi everyone! I am approximately 9 weeks pregnant and feel super bloated and have already gained a few pounds and it is making me extremely nervous.. I had wanted to talk to my surgeon about my constant stall no matter what I was doing and my terrible reflux to get revision surgery prior to me getting pregnant.. now, I am not due until November, and was wondering how long after I give birth should I approach the revision? I am not going to breast feed due to my line of work and would like to have the revision done while I’m on maternity leave so I don’t have to take additional time off from work. Anyone do this or have any pointers? I’m super stressed about the weight gain :(

I just wanted to share it has been 4 1/2 months since I had my band removed and I am at my goal. The band was a nightmare for me the multiple fills (which I had to pay for since I had my band done in Mx) food getting stuck, being afraid to eat, puking, sliming and knowing I had a foreign body in me with the port showing like a tumor! Strong advice: if you are getting a revision I would advise you choose a surgeon who has experience in revisions-it is not the same as a new sleeve, there is scar tissue involved making the surgery more challenging-this is not "routine surgery". I followed Dr Aceves post-surgery diet but modified it with the Cornell post-sleeve diet. My hunger is very much under control, I don't log in or count any calories. I am a professional dieter I KNOW what is in what! I eat enough protein (I still drink protein drinks but I did that before I got the band) I didn't/don't obsess about the scale didn't weight myself every day, weekly at best. Gauged how I was doing by how my clothes fit. Had a "collection size 16 to size 6". I got to goal a few years ago using sparkspeople, but like usual (got to goal w/weight watchers, TOPS, Atkins...) I gained the weight back. That is why I got the band to put an end to the obsession w/food. The band didn't do that for me but the sleeve so far has done that for me. Finally wearing my size 6 comfortably. People have noticed how "skinny" I am. I eat for nutrition, there is little room for much else! I have given my sizes 16 to 8 away, I have never done that before. Size 8 was the hardest to let go of. I would not have done the revision without this board. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you:001_wub: Dee

I had my sleeve revised to RNY 11/10/22 due to GERD. I stayed on fluids/purées/soft foods advancing very slowly. I didn’t start solid foods until end of December (about 6 weeks). Since then I feel like I’m playing Russian Roulette every time I eat. Sometimes I eat and feel fine without pain or restriction. Other times I will eat the same exact thing, same amount and be doubled over in pain until 4-8 hours later when I finally throw up and the food comes up not even partially digested. Every time I freak that I have an obstruction. Nutritionists say it’s too much fiber or too much fat, but it’s not necessarily associated with diarrhea and why, then, can I tolerate it sometimes and others not? Surgeon is sending me in for an upper GI barium study next week. I’m so stressed that I have stretched my pouch somehow but I can sometimes eat far more volume without issue compared to some of these episodes. Has anyone else experienced this? TMI, I’m also noticing pale colored stools but the pain is on the left, not on the right with my gallbladder. He said my gallbladder looked fine during surgery. I just need this to work so I feel better and can get on with my life.

I had minimal bruising after my revision, and the leak repair which all happened within 48 hours of each other. I have more scars because I was a revision patient. But, 8 months out, my scars are light pink, no biggie. No one sees me naked other than my husband so it really doesn't bother me. In my opion (and that's all it is), all of the temporary discomfort, bruising and healing time is just that temporary. In the long run, all that becomes an afterthought. At least that has been my experience.

Sleeve Revision In Mexico
LilMissDiva Irene replied to mrios1029's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Wow I hadn't even thought of that. Thats considerable! I mostly thought down the line if I had to I could revise to RnY or DS... however just to have my sleeve re-done would be ideal! Good luck in your research, I'm not sure who does do this. -
Band to sleeve revisions in one surgery are quite common and very successful. Trust your surgeons final decision .. They know what's best for the patient. If by chance they decide not to do your sleeve it's for a very good reason... Your safety.

Hi everyone, I'm a lap band patient with a partial slip, and am getting a revision to the sleeve next Thursday, the 16th. I've been having some discomfort with it because of the slip but am told the slip isn't really bad. It's all being done in 1 surgery, with an anticipated 1 night stay in the hospital. I"m a little anxious about the recovery as I understand it will be somewhat slow going. But, I plan on being very careful & mindful, ensuring a follow liquids slowly & carefully during the healing process. How has the recovery been from band to sleeve in 1 surgery?

I had severe port pain when I had the Lap Band. When I would complain, the surgeon would always tell me that the Lap Band was on the other side and that the port shouldn't hurt. As soon as I revised to sleeve, the pain immediately subsided. I'm just glad that I had the revision!! Good luck on getting approved. Don't give up!!

My lap band port pain is increasing daily as I jump through the insurance hoops to get approved for revision to sleeve. But I have my EGD tomorrow and nutritionist visit on Weds., then I'm done. Is anyone else going through this? Sent from my SM-N920P using the BariatricPal App

Thank you so much! Good luck to you on the revision! -
Hi all, Just wondering what bypass peeps are eating 5 weeks out. Not sure if there is a thread / topic already. I know we each follow our doctors / nut's plans / advice but just wondered what people are doing and looking to share dietary plans / advice. My WLS journey was Band, Band to Sleeve, then Sleeve to Bypass. (Yep 3 ops!). Pre band weight - 136kg Weight at last revision (Bypass) on the 10th May 2016 - 103kg Weight today - 94.9kg Goal weight - 80kg Here's what I'm having each day this week : 630am - I have a 250ml glass of Water and my Multivitamin liquid, Biotin liquid, sublingual B12. 0730am - (On the way to work) 2 x calci-chews with vit D and a coffee (250ml) with fat free added Calcium milk and a stevia for sweetener. 1000am - At work around 10am I'll have 1 scrambled egg with a low fat slice of cheese in it (can do it in the microwave). 12pm - I'll have a super greens type drink (500ml) with chia seeds and konjac root powder added to thicken it a little and maybe a little flavour free Protein powder. 2pm - Pre made portion of pureed chicken breast with veggies (200ml) Then just water / tea / coffee until I'm home. A couple of coloxyl and Senna laxative tablets if I need them. 6pm - Another pre made pureed chicken breast with veggies (200ml) 8pm - Half an Optifast lemon water desert (love them!) with sugar free jelly. (200ml) Then just tea and water until bed time. Might chuck a bit of benefibre in if I feel like it. Sometimes if I'm hungry anywhere in between the above I'll add up to 1 Protein shake / optifast Soup with konjac root powder to thicken a little. I find adding a small amount of the konjac root powder, just thickens liquidy type drinks ever so slightly increase my satiety. Also I'm 8 weeks of the cigarettes and no booze for ages :-( lol. I'm planning on a glass of wine or maybe 2 as a treat when I get to 90kg though :-) Does anyone else use Konjac root? Looking forward to your replies :-) Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Surgery date pushed out...beyond upset
aldfnp replied to missyjoy2078's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know how you feel. My surgeon did the same to me... I was July 1 now the 8th. They tried to make me feel better by saying he was leaving town after the the 3rd and he wanted to be in town in case he was needed since I am a revision from band to sleeve. Anyway it sounded good so I let it go. I was so ready for July 1. -

REVISION to Bypass
AuriP replied to lindsaybhill's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
You will do just fine. I am 4 weeks post op from the revision and am as new as can be. I had to have a few new scars but if you rub cocoa butter and vitamin E oil on them it should lessen the severity of the scar. My new scars are lighter than my old ones. -
Port Revision...
savannahsmommie replied to savannahsmommie's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
When is your revision? Mine is scheduled for this coming Tuesday. Thankfully he said after I come out of the anesthesia he will do a fill. He's not the surgeon that put the band in, because they were complete idiots. And my new doctor is amazing. He was actually going to take me into surgery yesterday when he couldn't get it, just because he has never missed a port before. Thank god for good surgeons. -
Has anyone out there had a revision done from a sleeve to a bypass? I'm scheduled for Wednesday April 6!
-
I just cringed when I read this! Why would you trust the same surgeon? Also, you do realize your risk for complications was increased significantlyas this is your third wls and second revision. Furthermore with a tighter sleeve your far more prone to gerd, strictures and gastric torsion. Is it really worth it? Anyway, hope your okay post op

What was the deciding factor?
nursebeccarn replied to Tgarden's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am in no way a veteran, but I can tell you why I chose it: My band surgeon doesn't do band to sleeve revisions, he too advised me to have the bypass. There is a common belief ( whether it's true or not) that band to sleeve revisions are not as successful and therefore the bypass is recommended. However, my personal reason were I did not want a forces malabsorption syndrome, I had less than 100lbs to lose, and wanted to have kids without all the risks of being a high risk pregnancy. I decided the sleeve was the right choice for me and found a surgeon that supported my decision. I can tell you 110% that I am happy with my decision and felt like it was the right choice for me. You have to decide what is right for you.... Good luck to you! This is a great group! -

What Do You Say To Coworkers About Gastric Sleeve Surgery?
redmtn posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Finally am going to get my revision which I am really excited about but not quite sure what to say at work. I feel so shameful, I know I shouldn't, but do I tell the truth or make up something?? It will be over 2 week Christmas break but I will be gone a few days before and then more? I think it might have something to do with how I failed to lose weight with the band......so what if this also fails or something happens. Thanks! -
Enough lurking, time to share my story.
alumascape posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Well, as the title suggests I've been a member of the form for a while but just as a reader I haven't posted anything yet. I figured it was time to post my story so I could get some feedback, and possibly a little guidance. My journey started about a year ago when I had made the final decision to go ahead with the gastric sleeve. I was very confident in my surgeon and was excited about the surgery. As per protocol, he did and endoscopy beforehand and didn't notice anything out of the ordinary. I had my sleeve gastrectomy done on August 28th 2017. Almost immediately, I noticed what I would call an agonizing amount of pain and extreme gastric reflux. This was before I was even off of my post-surgery liquid diet. Over the coming weeks it didn't get better, only worse. I was continually told by my surgeon that it's normal, and it happens to some people. Within about 2 months the pain in my stomach to get better, at that point I was developing a pain on my right hand side below my rib cage. I had done some research, so I had a pretty good idea that it was my gallbladder. My surgeon agreed with me, and without even running any tests he decided to remove my gallbladder. My gallbladder was removed in January of 2018, and almost immediately I noticed the pain in my abdomen was gone. However, the gastric reflux still persisted. In early February of this year by surgeon decided to do an endoscopy to see what could be causing the acid reflux. He told me that I had numerous moderate to severe ulcers and that revision surgery would be advised. I was scheduled for traditional gastric bypass on March 22nd of this year. I'm pleased to report that the gastric reflux has gone away. However, I'm not able to keep down any solid foods without violently regurgitating them. I was following my post surgery diet without any deviation. The first soft food that I tried was mashed potatoes, no salt or butter and it didn't go well. Almost immediately I violently regurgitated them. Within about three minutes of that I had some of the most excruciating pain I've ever had in my life, it started near my stomach and felt like a travel down. I told my wife that I had to go to the emergency room immediately, once I got there she called my surgeon. The surgeon conferred with the emergency room physician and ordered a CT scan with contrast. I was advised that my stomach was clear and I didn't have any blockages. My surgeon had told the emergency room physician to prescribe me Prilosec 40 mg and I was to take it twice a day until I saw him again. A few days later I saw the surgeon, and he informed me that it was most likely an irritated stomach and that it was normal. This was about 3 weeks ago. I'm still not able to keep down any soft food of any type. I'm still on liquids, and even when I take in liquids I feel very uncomfortable. I'm not exactly sure how to describe it, it's not cramping, it's not nausea or pain it's a very awkward feeling. At this point, I've decided to get a second opinion and had all my records sent to another surgeon. I'm just curious if anyone has had these symptoms, rather these combination of symptoms or if anyone has any ideas for me to try. If you're reading this and considering weight loss surgery please I implore you to not let this deter you. From people I've talked to and information I've read, this amount of side effects is very out of the ordinary. I've lost almost a hundred pounds since my first surgery and I am feeling pretty good other than the symptoms I've described. Thanks everyone so much for taking the time to read, I look forward to any advice that can be offered. I hope everyone out there is doing great, and I wish everyone the best of luck and whatever stage of the journey they may be in!- 5 replies

For me I could not lose all of it on my own my highest weight was 480 I got town to 430 on my own . Could not get past 430. Every time I did I shot back up to 430 . I got tired of going up and down with my weight .i use to weigh 220 . I was hit head on in 91 and shot up to 484 fast . So getting in the gym was very hard to do . I chose the lap band first mainly cause insurance , and it went good . I lost 100 pounds on it but it was slipping and well the removed it in 3 months of putting it in . They put it back in cause I was scared of the by pass but I did not lose any weight after they stuck it back and it was slipping agin . So I went in to see dr suh and we revised it to the sleeve I am just 3 weeks out I had surg on may 30 I have lost close to 30 pounds so far . I seem to be constipated but I don't eat much . I had bad heart burn a week after surg and I had to end up mixing the Pepcid with nexium twice a day and it seems to work . Other then that I am not hungry . I just start cardio at the gym a week ago . But I am excited I was scared but I was getting to the point where I was walking worse everything was getting harder to do . And I just got tired I can do it on my own and keep it off . I think this is a great tool to get you down so you can maintain and feel better it takes work .. The surg is not a walk in the park but it was worth it for me . I am trying to get to 220 back where I was and hope I will keep it off with the new life style I am moving into .

How do you deal? It's so hard..
California Guy replied to BoredFatGirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm on the puree diet right now. I hope you stay strong and take it day by day. Each Post OP day was way better than the last. During my first week post OP I've taken my family to fast food restaurants and sit with them drinking water while they eat. I've cooked dinner or baked cookies or bread which I was not going to eat. For me, I am so sure I will follow the nutrition plan, it isn't tempting at all. They feel bad eating in front of me but I tell them it honestly isn't an issue. I did this twice, once for the sleeve, then once for the revision to DS. Something that made it even easier this year is that I dieted for 5 months prior to my surgery. I dropped all sugary foods, fried foods, and sugary beverages. Another thing that helps me is having a finite list of things I am allowed to eat. If I see or smell something else, I just say that's not one of the 10 things I plan to eat during this phase. I understand the position you are in now craving things you may have had recently but knowing if you eat them you could put your health at risk. There is definitely a need to set boundaries with your spouse regarding where he eats since this is troubling you.
