  1. Wheelchair -- No I didn't request wheel chair. It was actually WONDERFUL to be able to walk. It was a long day w/ 2 flights. We left @ 8:30AM from hotel and didn't arrive @ destination until almost midnight. I was anxious to walk every chance I got. Early boarding... I'm not sure early boarding is needed. BUT I HIGHLY recommend making sure you get an aisle seat. So if flying SW or an airline that doesn't assign seats then early boarding might be best. I did request early boarding on the 2nd leg of flights as we were on SW and I wanted to make sure I got an aisle so I could get up to go to bathroom or walk if needed. It was a 5 hr flight. Sick or not?: No, Never felt sick @ ALL. I did pay extra for pain medication for day of flight as original prescription from Dr was finished day b4. However, I think I could have done w/o it. Never felt pain. TMI -- only other thing on the day of my flight... It was my first BM day and I am so GLAD I had my gatorade that day. I would definitely make sure you consume your liquids and if you think u might need the electrolytes purch a gatorade to sip on after you check bags!
  2. I'm 11 days post-op and still on liquids. I've had a number of embarrassing moments which have sometimes been uncontrollable - I now carry extra knickers with me just in case. I had irritable bowel prior to the surgery so it's not entirely new to me, but the frequency and urgency have definitely increased. I'm really hoping it eases once I start on puréed foods. Sorry for TMI!
  3. Often, wls people have an on/ off record of eliminating. I think that means occasionally, ahem, things get very firm. And unusually larger. At the risk of tmi... some of us need a tool to “break up” these eliminations to flush. I have exchanged info and learned: some use chopsticks (easier to toss), tongs, skewers, plastic utensils..... you get the idea ... use your resources and happy flushing! ( what a strange post!)

    TMI beware lol

So this evening I got my IUD which is giving me the worst flippen cramps but not only that I ate this fiber bar and I have a bad case of what I like to call whomp whomp farts and all I could do while the gyn was placing my iud is try not to fart on her... Here I am 8 hours later waking my dog up with "braaaap brap" and I have a 3 hour dentist appointment in the AM so help me god this gas passes. Any tips other than never eat a fiber bar again? When will this be over?!
  5. I am 11 days post op and a bit of a hypochondriac. Sorry if this is TMI but I have been taking Bariatricfusion complete chewable multivitamins for about 5 days now and my poop is black for the first time. And when I drink water or protein shakes I don’t feel any restriction anymore. By that I mean It’s not as noticeable. I’m also on 40mg omeprazole which I open the capsule and put into applesauce. Also I’m a bit nauseous and there’s lots of gas rumbling in my stomach. My surgeons office is closed today and tommorow so I’m don’t know what to do. Is this normal?
  6. THis is my first cycle after surgery, I'm having all the pms, cramps, bloating etc and I'm always regular. I guess I started 2 days ago but it's not even enough to wear a panty liner ( sorry TMI)! It's never this way & was wondering if anyone else has had this issue ? I had surgery May 8th. Thanks!
  7. So on day 4 (friday for me), my doctor's office said I had to take Milk of Magnesia because I needed to poo by/on Day 5. If nothing's coming out, it is not going to be fun. So yesterday midday and then again last night I had the Milk of Magnesia and it didn't happen until 4 a.m. and then 6 a.m. Most painful events of my life thus far that I can remember but thank god that's over. My advice: Don't wait - buy the cherry flavor MoM and drink up. I was warned if it didn't happen "naturally" I would be required to get an enema -- Words that scared me enough to drink MoM twice! What a nightmare, but at least it's over now. This is so TMI, but I hope it helps out.
  8. I'll apologize in advance. Since a couple days post surgery, whenever I burp, it is absolutely the worst funk you can imagine. I can taste it in my mouth and it permeates my surrounding area. It remains on my breath for 10 minutes or so. Ugh. Is there a reason for this? I've NEVER had this problem before.
  9. My nutritionist recommended Bariatric Advantage Chewable Iron. It comes in different doses but if you're a menstrating woman with heavy flow (Yah TMI too) you should go for the 60mg. Here's what it says about it at their website: Our Chewable Iron was designed to meet the iron replacement needs of patients who have undergone bariatric surgery. Our iron is in a form that is both easy to take and tastes great. Our strawberry Flavored Iron provides 18 milligrams of elemental iron from Ferronyl®, and our 29 milligram iron is a blend of Ferronyl® and ferrous fumarate. Both contain Vitamin C to optimize iron absorption and utilization. Tablets are designed to be easy on the digestive system, to support maximum absorption, and to minimize side effects like constipation. We suggest that iron supplements be taken at least two hours away from Calcium supplements and dairy products. Hope that helps
  10. Ladies. I have a silly and embarrassing question. :omg: I am self pay, went thru seminar, consultation w/ doc, etc... (all preliminary goodies). I was thrilled to get my surgery date. Over the weekend I have realized it is right about the time I will be on my cycle. Can you believe the timing? Do you know if that is a problem with the surgery? Not that he will be operating in that area, but still, I am unsure. Any women have any insight on this? I feel like such a dork for asking, be need the banders to throw in their two cents. Thanks!

Need to vent - So frustrated

Shae...I actually started using it today. I saw another post about it (maybe it was you, don't remember) and I joined yesterday and started tracking today. It is a great little tool, so easy to use and I was even able to download and app for my android phone. It will be interesting to see what that shows me. Thanks so much because until yesterday I had heard of it, but thought it was just for exercise. Didn't realize how handy it was for this. I really like it. I am tracking my fiber also because I don't think I'm getting enough of that either because (TMI) things aren't moving well (or all that often) in the plumbing department either. And the plumbing was very regular prior to surgery.
  12. I'm pretty square with most of my blubber in my gut. I'm 5'7" and just hit 70 pounds down with a weight of 184 - big bones too. I'm in 10's and 12's depending on the manuf. Smallest I've ever been was an 8. Hoping to reach a freeking 6!!!!!! Oh, when I started, at 254, I was bursting out of 18's. My legs and butt have always been smaller than my top half though, as my shoulders are very broad, my gut is big and my boobs are still wrinkly, saggy 38D's... TMI, sorry...! Good luck! C
  13. Sorry if this is TMI - anyone else have trouble going enough after surgery? I remember in the hospital that it took quite a while once I went in to the restroom (I didn't have a catheter) and I just sort of figured it was due to the anesthesia. Additionally, I ended up passing a 4mm kidney stone 48 hours after RNY and then another 4mm about 6 days after RNY. I have ongoing kidney stone issues, so that didn't surprise me necessarily but my concern is that I just don't seem to be able to go that much. I am getting in 50ish ounces (including Protein shakes) which I know isn't enough long term, but only drinking 1 oz every 15 minutes makes it tough to drink a lot more. I am 8 days post op now and just able to drink about twice that but still not having a lot of output. My first post-op appt is Tuesday so I can ask then if it is normal. Just thought I would ask if anyone else has had issues or if maybe I need to call my urologist on Monday.
  14. I have my gallbladder out and since then alot of foods upset my stomach if I eat them I have to RUN to the bathroom. I am 10 days post op and while I have not been eating the foods that normally upset me. I am eating alot of protein and all mushy. I have been having this problem the last 2 days with needing to run to the bathroom. Is this normal? Could it be bc of my gallbladder and not the band or maybe a combo of both?
  15. so i haven't used birth control for the last 7 years because we are hoping to ave one more beautiful baby to add to the bunch. but obviously my focus is on recovery and weight loss right now. i am 3 weeks out tomorrow and my obgyn said he would send me an rx to pick up at the pharmacy. my question is what does everyone prefer? it's been so long i'm not sure what's out there. i used the patch before and hated it. also used the nuva ring and could never get it to stay in (always came out during sex and about half way out during a bm- sorry if that is TMI). sounds like he is sending me a script for a pill. he said they are all basically the same so unless i requested a specific one he would just call in an everyday common one so it should be pretty text book!
  16. I am 11 days post op and am constipated. First few days went fine with my bms, but I think today marks 4 days since going. Any ideas whats causing this and how I can fix it? As always, thank you for your suggestions!

    Just wondering...

Well, that was my first thought too, but I can see where an area for specifically "female problems" of a physical nature would be a good idea. It could be for stuff that might be under the heading of TMI in general conversation. Hey, maybe that could be the forum name--TMI, with subforums for men and for women . . .
  18. I got sleeved this past Thursday December 15th, in Lexington, KY at Central Baptist Hospital by Dr. Weiss. Right after surgery I felt a ton of gas, I was out of it couldn't really focus on family and friends. With every sip I took there was a big bubble of gas that came up from my stomach and out like a belch, I didnt pass gas until my second day and the third day I had a bowl movement that was crazy ( I KNOW TMI). My doctor used the OnQ pump which was great. I never really had pain, except one of my incisions was sore which is till sore today. I stayed in the hospital for two nights and I thought I was going to go crazy with all the tubes running out of me in every direction. I havent been hungry since surgery but I have been really thirsty. In the hospital they served me popsicles, broth, a protein shot and lemonade. I drunk the protein shot, popsicle, and lemonade. Here at home I've been eating Campbells Chicken broth and I add unflavored whey protein to it to help get my protein in. I've also added the whey protein to my juice or drinks. I did purchase some isopure drinks which I will drink half at a time because they have around 40 grams of protein per bottle. The unflavored protein really mixes well with warm food as well as cold drinks. This is the ony way I can manage to get in my protein and my liquids for the day. My doctor sent me home with liquid loratab as well as something for the gas, nausea. Oh yea after surgery my blood pressure went up. Before surgery I always had perfect blood pressure. The doctor said that sometimes the surgery can drive up the blood pressure. Overall I'm doing fantastic. I've slept on both my sides the first night just fine. When I got home I was able to walk up the stairs and sleep in my bed comfortably. The only issues I've had is one of my incisions are sore. I've been walking a lot and sipping a lot. It takes me a while to finishe my liquids but that's not a huge issue. I really can't complain, I've kept everything down, and I have a good amount of energy. I do take all of my vitamins and suppliments so I wont be deficient. Anyway I hope all the December Sleevers are doing well!!!!
  19. I started messaging everyone , then I saw how many of us there are! So how are you guys and girls doing? How is the pre op diet going? I am doing ok! I am baking here and there for the holidays and its a little tempting but I am ok! I got TOM(sorry guys and anyone else who thinks this is tmi) this week so I am starving all day and Optifast isnt really working for me, but I am doing it and I am losing already! I have lost 8 lbs since I started!!!!! We have parties on both christmas eve and christmas day to attend so this is when my husbands side of the family will find out about the surgery! I am excited but scared, mostly about the hernia repair. If any of you want to message me or reply to this post it would make me so happy! Also I go in at 6am ( which mean I leave my house at 4:30) surgery is supposed to start at 7:30!! Are we all morning sleevers?
  20. That really wouldn't surprise me. My hair is starting to thin. However, on that topic, I'd love to know why the hair on my head is falling out while the hair on my legs and pits continues to flourish. TMI? Maybe, but it's the truth and you'd think it would all grow from the same source of nutrition.
  21. 4 1/2 weeks post sleeve surgery. 1. I went with my Mom a few nights ago to see Pirates of Penzance at the 5th Avenue Theatre and pre-op, I always had to squish in the seat and have my hips pinched the entire show...but, this time, I fit comfortably and was able to focus entirely on the show! 2. I bought some smaller jeans at Value Village for "further down the line" last week- Lane Bryant blue size 4 trouser fit jeans. Pre op, at my highest, I wore a size 7 blue petite LB jean (I miss this old LB sizing BTW- they are the only jeans that have ever fit me like a glove - larger hips, smaller waist). I thought today just to try them on as gauge of where I am...surely they won't fit...and up and over my thighs and butt they slid, and zipped! HOORAY, this is actually working! 3. Probably TMI, but my legs do not fall asleep anymore when I have to sit on the toilet for longer periods of time now! Lol. 4. Feet are getting less wide- shoes are fitting better now! 5. Serving a gooey, chocolate layer cake at a family party and not being tempted to eat a slice. I did have a small shaving of dark chocolate garnish and I was good! Chocolate craving over! Highest weight- 330 Sw- 289 Current- 268.5 Height 5'5

    Calcium

Got a problem and who else to go to but all of you. I'm supposed to be taking two Caltrate petites a day. However, I can't because they give me the worst stomach cramps and constipation. (Sorry, I know TMI). My doctor wants me to take it still even though all my labs look good (all 17 tubes of blood those vampires took). What can I do about the cramps and constipation? PS. My dietician informed me not to take my Vitamins at the same time as my Calcium. She said that it interferes with the absorption of the vitamins.
  23. Atkins Advantage taste pretty good. I also drank the Isopure pre-mixed clear drinks after surgery and they were not bad . . . not good, but not bad either. Watch your caffeine intake if you ingest a lot now. It may give you headaches when you try to stop. I take a CVS brand called Spectravite. They are reasonably priced adult orange flavored chewables. I like them because they actually taste good. Normal Vitamins cause me to burp a wierd taste sometimes, sorry if it is TMI. Since they are chewable, they are super easy to ingest as well.
  24. Much more energy today. Got out of bed with NO pain! Feeling almost human again! But what the heck... It's like the rest of my digestive system sprung back to life with a vengeance today! Sorry if TMI! I guess it's good to know my entire GI system is back up and running! Gheesh.
  25. This maybe( TMI) just curious if anyone else went through this. A week before TOM I drop mad weight, last week six pounds. Now that TOM is almost here, nothing. I drink more fluids at this time to avoid additional Water weight gain. Just curious if anyone had this happen. Thanks for any input on this. Deb
