Dumping, don't get it.
HeatherMiguel replied to meyouus's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm 11 days out and on puréed foods . I'm not sure what I experienced but it was horrible! At the night I had refried beans with cheese and felt it had to much cheese so stopped eating them. In the Morning I had 1/4th of light Greek yogurt (strawberry) and only water after. Around 1:30 I had horrible cramps had to go #2 it wasn't diarrhea at first but I got the shakes started sweating and breathing hard. Then finally came the diarrhea (tmi sorry) the other things lasted another 3 mns or do then I was fine . Anyone know what could of caused it? I'm thinking the yogurt although I've ate it before with no prob . -

TMI Topic - Digestion Issues one month post surgery
Eleanora posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I actually felt surprisingly well immediately after the surgery and had very little stomach cramping, no nausea, and minimal pain. I was stunned by how much pain I was in during my first TOM post-surgery. The cramping was severe and persisted for the entire week rather than just the first day. Anything I ate caused me to feel ill. For two days I could only consume Clear liquids, and even that was problematic. I ended up getting Pediolyte for fear that I was being dehydrated from all the diarrhea. I cannot drink plain Water. The only drinks my stomach has tolerated well is Gatorade and fresh squeezed orange juice, both of which are caloric so I don't want to have them daily. I had to take time off of work because the cramps were so incapacitating, and the inability to keep down food and liquids had made me really dizzy and weak. I had thought that once my period ended, I'd feel fine again. That hasn't been the case, though I thankfully do feel better. It's been a week since it ended and though I no longer have the intense stomach cramps I still am having digestive issues. Every time I eat or drink anything about half an hour later I have an urgent need for a BM. I then have several more throughout the day, and wake up about 4 times a night for it. I'd thought that perhaps I had transitioned into soft foods too quickly, so I went back to the full liquid diet of Soups and Protein shakes. That worsened the problem, which surprised me because I'd tolerated them fine a few weeks ago. I then started to eat more soft solids again, hoping that could help. It did help some, but not enough. I'd been great about getting in plenty of protein and liquids the first few weeks, and am now not getting in nearly enough. I am trying to limit dairy to see if maybe that's a contributing factor, but even when I haven't consumed any the problem has persisted. It's definitely interfered with my work and social life. I'm afraid to even go on a walk on the beach for fear that my stomach will seize up. I was like a hermit all weekend long, even though it was so beautiful out and there were exciting things going on. As far as weight loss goes, I've lost 22 pounds since surgery (mid-August) and a total of 31 pounds since my highest weight. My BMI is currently 29.5. I'm happy with the progress. I'm just concerned about the stomach issues. I'm also lethargic because I haven't really been able to exercise much and am not able to get in enough calories. Did anyone else experience anything like this? -
I was worried about constipation, eating essentially no Fiber, but was surprised this morning (day 3) to have an acute onset of diarrhea (sorry TMI). I haven't seen that mentioned anywhere else in the boards - any other experiences like this? My liquid diet consists of 4 Protein shakes/day, plus 6 small servings of either unsweet applesauce, V-8, cream of wheat, low cal yogurt or sugar-free pudding. It's supposed to be about 1000 cal/day but I've only been getting about 800. I have 2 Soups purchased from my surgeon's office to use in place of Protein shake and had one each day so far. Only 28 more days to go.....

@@CowgirlJane - before purchasing a membership, poke around and see how many active users you have in your area. I was surprised how few there were in OKC. Now if I lived in Dallas, I would have been fine. You see with eHarmony they are only going to match you with people who they think you are emotionally compatible with based on the personality test, so count on maybe 20% even being possible matches. Further note about eHarmony, before you take the test get yourself in a really good mood, or don't be in a needy or bad mood when you do it. I'm not saying that you can "game" the system, but I do know that when I was applying for a job in sales, they wanted me to do a personality inventory, and I got myself in a "Zig Ziggler frame of mind." I did so well on the test they hired me in 10 minutes. I didn't think about that this when I tried eHarmony and noticed they people I were meeting were not great matches based on my long term goals, but dang there was a great deal of sex. (I know TMI, but it was bizarre that it was happening on every date, which is really what I'm not looking for long term).

A TMI question but I don't anyone else to ask. Are either of you experiencing menstrual bleeding. I also have PCOS so I'm not sure if this is caused by the surgery it self or not. I haven't been able to take in all the Protein or Water. One shake is 30 grams protein but 20 oz of liquid. What do you have planned for protein intake ? I ordered injury protein Soup but it won't arrive until next week.

Things I didn't expect my first month post-op

Tmi but I think applesauce just made me dump out the backdoor...didn't expect that! And it was natural unsweetened ???? -
I'm down a little over 15 pounds in 10 days. It makes me question whether I should just stick to the liquid diet until I lose all the weight, but I know as soon as I started eating again, it would all come back plus some. Today was the first time I've ever tested my blood sugar and gotten under 200! It's still high at 178, but it's lower than I've ever seen it since I've been testing in the last 2 years. Yesterday was a lot easier for me in terms of making it through the liquid diet without feeling starving. I think that has a lot to do with the fact that I was SUPER busy at work and didn't have time to think about it. I love my wife so much for cooking fresh chicken stock for me and I really like having a hot cup of green tea before bed. Last night I felt like I had enough energy to go to the gym and exercise, but I got home at 7:30, had to do homework with my daughter and feed her, and work from 9 to midnight remotely doing IT maintenance stuff so there was no time. No work tonight so I'll see how I feel. My surgery is only 4 days away and the closer it gets the more real it feels. Unlike many of the people here who planned and worked for it for a six months to a year, from start to finish for me it's 2 months so I've had less time for it to sink in. In the area of TMI.... I had to poo last night for the first time in about 4-5 days and it felt like I was passing rocks followed by Water but I felt a lot better afterwards.

SEPTEMBER 2014 POST-OP SLEEVERS CHECKING IN!
angel22_99 replied to Rovobay's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
So today is my one year "surgiversary." I am a tad disappointed as I didn't reach my goal weight of 150, but I'm still down 125 from the morning of my surgery! I am hoping to hit goal by Christmas. I am overall ecstatic with my results so far, but I have a couple unexpected complaints that I'm wondering if anyone else has: I can't carry anything heavy on my shoulders like a heavy purse or bag because I have absolutely no fat padding on my shoulders anymore. If you were to look at me from the waist up (not including the arms/breasts because of the excess skin), I look like I'm anorexic, but if you see my hips and thighs, I still look over weight. Gravity has not been kind to me during this process, LOL And; this may be TMI, so don't read this paragraph if you are squeamish, but when I sit, I feel like I am sitting on something, like rolled up towels. It took me forever to figure out why I get this feeling because I keep checking and I'm never sitting on anything. It's the excess skin on my butt! LOL Also, and this is really TMI, but it's actually harder to clean my bottom because of it. I do want to eventually get a lower body lift, but I want to see if I can hit my goal and maintain it a while first. Overall, I am overjoyed with the results I have attained and am so glad that I got the surgery done! -
Things I didn't expect my first month post-op

Surgery on Thursday Sept. 10th home on Friday. Back again on Saturday do to a skin staph infection at the large incision site got antibiotics and alls good. Today is day 4 and here are my experiences so far Not in unbearable pain at all like to use the pain meds for sleep because sleeping on my side is painful without them. I have honestly been sleeping too much but I am exhausted. I walk my waking hours and sip sip sip but im not able to get the full 48 ozs of liquid in and only about 66 of the required Protein. When I try to push the Protein Drink my stomach feels bloated and hurts like crazy. So I have been sticking to the 4-6 ozs per hour. My hubby says once I stay awake longer I will have the time to get them all in. Only issue so far was this morning when I had my first BM. It was a normal soft BM and not the least bit painful or hard to go. As soon as I started to relax and just let it happen I kbow TMI but we all have to be honest here, I thought I was going to die. My blood pressure dropped, I started sweating bullets became hot as fire and so week I had to call for help because I couldn't even hold my head up. Within 5 min it had subsided and I felt fine again. Pre surgery weight was 214.6 today I weigh 209.0. I am so thankful that I have had zero nauseousness or vomiting and I haven't tried to go over the recommendation for 4-6 ozs in an hr so no complications yet from over indulging. -
Had Surgery on September 8th 2015
tblovingme replied to lmag's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello, I had surgery in September 10th. So far so good. Getting all my Water requirements in with no issues. I have been fortunate to not even experience any nausea and vomiting. Other than some soreness in my incision sites, I am pleased with my recovery. I am still taking it very slowly t make sure I am giving my body time to heal and get 100%. Only issue is being able to pass as much gas as I would like to but its coming (TMI) I know once that is gone I will feel much much better. So far I am happy with my decision and my Surgeon is the best. I hope everyone else is having as much success. Good Luck!! -
Looking for those who had sleeve in August 2015
Thinside replied to Sherri1964's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved August 5. Transitioned to "regular" foods yesterday. I'm a little nervous about introducing fruits and veggies, but really want to try (I miss them!) Especially salad! I'm going slow, reintroducing one "new" food at a time. Okay, what follows is TMI, so skip it if you're squeamish! Yesterday, I had my first bad digestive experience since the first week after surgery (I had a lot of nausea and constipation for the first 6 days, then nausea and diarrhea for a few days after that. Since then, I have stabilized.) Anyway, yesterday I ate some peanuts, which I chewed really, really well. A couple of hours later I had urgent diarrhea. Thank goodness I was at home! So, no more nuts for a while. (I LOVE nuts, and for a vegetarian like me they've been a great source of Protein over the years. Waahhhh!) I also have a weird pain right under my left ribs -- much higher up and several inches to the left of my biggest incision -- It feels like I'm bruised inside, and this didn't start until 3 weeks in. Anybody else have this? -

Good luck to you all. I couldn't sleep last night. Went to bed at nine, back up at 11 for 2 hours then tried to sleep again. Finally asleep at about 3. Cleaned my whole house this morning and my mom will be arriving within the hour. 2 more sleeps!

Just wondering if anyone on here had a catheter in after surgery. May be a little TMI, but I'm just curious if anyone experienced what's going on with me. I had the catheter in for almost 24 hours before it was removed. Since the removal I have been able to go but I just don't feel the urge to go. My liquid pre-op had me going all day but now it's not like that. Anyone else have this issue?

Hello, I am 16 months post op. I have lost and maintained a total weight loss of 145 lbs. I went from 275 to 130. Sorry if this is TMI but I am hoping someone can relate and give me tips. I have loose skin on the back of my butt that hang like curtains! They are chafing badly and feel very scaly and have almost caloussed. I have put cortisone creams And all kinds of lotions. Mostly the area stays dry but that is the main problem. It so dry it stays irritated. Any pointer would be great!

Things I didn't expect my first month post-op

I don't think there is such a thing as TMI when it comes to this. The more information we can share the better. This particular information doesn't apply to me, but it helps other people. -

Sept date I am all set
SleeveMe247 replied to chas4022's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey September Sleevers, just wanted to update you guys. Tomorrow makes one week post op. I'm gonna ease my way into full liquids, starting with some Soup for dinner. TMI, but still haven't had a bowel movement, not sure if this is normal or not considering I've only been consuming liquids, but I've been drinking Water like crazy! I would imagine well over 64oz of water alone plus my Protein. It's been hot in LA, so I've been drinking tons of water. My urine is almost clear so I'm nowhere near dehydrated. It's still been a struggle to get in the protein. I had about 40-50grams yesterday between the shakes, and my mom used two of my premier vanilla Protein Shakes from costco and made me some sugar free vanilla pudding out of it. The concept was splendid although it was kinda thick, so I didn't want to eat much of it yesterday, but I'll try more today. I weighed myself and I'm officially in the two's again! I'm 298, which is awesome considering my starting weight was 343 in April. I was 301 the day of my surgery, 310 two days after, so the excess water weight is finally gone plus a few extra pounds, so I'm ecstatic! I would be highly pleased if I made it to 280 by the end of the month, but I'm not putting pressure on myself. I'm still having pain in the incision site where they removed everything, but otherwise I'm feeling better overall. I'm planning to start a new thread called "things you didn't expect during your first month post-op" because I've already had some experience unexpected and I think it would be helpful if we shared them with each other. We can post them here too, but I'm also wanting to hear from people who've been sleeved for a while too, as they can help us be better prepared going into our first month. Anyways, I'm still alive and well guys...carry on ????????????✌????️ -
I don't want to go to the ER again...
Tootsietoes posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey everyone, hoping someone might have experienced this... A couple days ago I had this severe pain in my belly button region, doubled over, worst and unusual pain I have ever had. Go to the ER (it's 2 am when this happened) I am thinking a gallbladder attack- after all I am a few mo post op and I heard this can happen. They thought it was a kidney stone, they did a CT scan and didn't find anything other than a uti. They gave me some pain pills and antibiotics and sent me home. Since then, I have felt a little weird, almost like my intestines are numb or stopped working. I listen to some bowel sounds and hear them, though slightly diminished on the upper left quadrant. Then what really baffles me, I took the ultimate dose of milk of mag and stimulant pills...and nothing... It's like it's stopped. I don't want to go to ER, nor do I want some poor nurse that has to stick her fingers up there (tmi- I did and there's nothing). Anyone have any ideas? -
Hey there September sleevers! Any one out there?
46soon replied to notforthefaint's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think everyone is freaked out before surgery! I'm 1 week out and am doing well. 13 pounds down including pre and post op. I don't really feel that hungry either. I was hungry last night though and had a sugar free Jello. The popsicles have been good too. I've had some diarrhea (sorry TMI) which I'm not sure if it's dumping syndrome already even without food. I will ask my surgeon next week. I usually have just the opposite after pain meds/anesthesia. I also had trouble with ice cold Water. It seems to hurt a little. Unsure if that could cause dumping or not. Weird. No more YETI cup for now. The nutrition warned me about that or anything hot for the first two weeks. I've had really good luck so far. No nausea, off pain meds pretty quickly, etc. I did walk in the hospital as much as possible, even 2 hours after surgery. The nurses were surprised but I was scared of that gas pain! Maybe that helped. I don't know. -
Can't wait for before to meet after
slimntrimshel posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
This is my first post on batiatric pal and tmi but it's the middle of the day and I'm in my bathtub right now. Lol. I'm here because my job is 1/2 mile away and I decided that instead of some grease filled crap I'd have a spa hour for lunch instead. And of course I couldn't put my phone down so here goes: I'm 298 pounds. I've always been heavy and called the cute big girl. Folks that would say that have no idea how condescending (or maybe they do) that felt when they'd say that. Anyway my last straw was on a recent flight when I got to my seat and my seatbelt didn't fit. I sucked in stuff that can't even be sucked in to no avail. If only i could squeeze just a little bit more! I was so red in the face. I looked across the aisle and a thin Asian woman had her 7 year old daughter on her lap. She wrapped the seat belt around them both (the stewardess later had her unbuckle for safety) AND pulled the strap to make it tight. There was still strap left????! I sucked in even more. It didn't work and at that point I was too embarrassed to ask for a seat belt extender (stupid, I know) and since I was by the window I pulled the seatbelt over my thigh and just tucked it around my inner leg. (Sorry!) Then I put my jacket over me so you could see that the belt was "connected." I thought to myself 'Lord please don't let this plane hit any turbulence.' I could just see me in all my fat glory bouncing on top of all the other passengers apologizing after I clunked their heads once after the other. Ugh. So that was it. I started working out and watching my food and lost a whopping 6 pounds. (Yayy????????????) I got a new job and low and behold the state offers insurance that covers bariatric surgery! So I signed up for the informational class and have since had my first nut class and initial appointment with the doc. I'm going with the sleeve. I have two more nut classes and all those other tests and evaluations. I'll update soon. Congrats for making it to the end! Lol -
I think the weight gain was from the air installed in my tummy as well as the huge amounts of Fluid they infused in me. And last but not least, TMI - but being constipated by the pain meds. But all is well now. I'm pretty darn happy! The doc said that surgery would probably be 2 hours but I was done in an hour! Started walking around as soon as I got to my room later that evening and never stopped! The walking was key to being discharged and getting my body woken up from the anesthesia. I was discharged two days after surgery! In on Wednesday and out on Friday. Not too shabby! I've not had any issues keeping fluids down or drinking, and I've had to remind myself to take it slow. Pain has been minimal, but of course, if you move the wrong way too fast, you'll feel incisional pain. Not a big deal. I have had a "upset tummy" at times, but I think that is partially from drinking too much at a time. That subsides, and the Omeprozol helps. Happy to answer any other questions! Best wishes to all and I'm so glad I did this! Crash!

Anyone have the surgery date of August 27th?
d8106red replied to TCaruso70's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Had surgery 08/25/15, just 2 weeks ago. Was way easier than I thought it would be, I think physcially working out so hard for 3 months leading up made it a lot easier to leave hospital 24 hours after surgery was already back to doing 4000 steps, soon hope to be back to 12,000. However, I am the phase 2 of the diet and the past three days having explosive diahrea sorry if that is TMI. Also, still feel hungry all the time, being very strict with diet, probably need more fluids though, but definitely have enough protien and I even emailed the doctor asking to see if they actually took out enough stomach. Due to fluids I came home 4 pounds heavier, so in total I've lost like 12 pounds in 2 weeks considering I'm eating very literal I'm not very happy about these results. How is eveyrone else feeling post?
