For those who are kaiser patients in the S.F. bayarea, their is a bariatrics dept. in Richmond and South San Francisco. You just have to get referred by your Doctor. I will have my 1st fill on Dec 9. I researched for quite sometime, due to far travel and expensive fills. My doctor has referred me to SSF Kaiser, my fill will be only $10 which is my copayment. Good Luck, let me know if I can be of any help.

HI there! you are on liquid diet day, I had dreaded it, but honestly it wasn't that bad. I stayed home from work, kept busy and did OK.
Now on to the surgery. It was just fine. I wish I could make you not nervous, but I was almost paniced! It all went so well! I had a bit of shoulder and neck pain yesterday. I did deep breathing and walking as much as I could (even just up and down the halls at home) I went in at 10:00and was in my house at 4. Today I'm sore..kinda like a did WAY too many situps. The shoulder and neck thing are gone. I didn't sleep well last night, mainly catnaps. But it's done, and I'OK. Taking it easy for a day or so on the couch with some movies.
Good luck to you and let me know how you are!

#5 You may also have:
* sugar-free popsicles (avoid juice popsicles),
* tea or coffee,
* sugar-free sodas,
* sugar-free Jello,
* broths & bouillons,
* Crystal Lite drinks.
Absolutely no cheating and if it's not on this list you can't have it for 10 days.
I don't do any protein supplements if I have gotten in at least 60grams of protein during the day.

Hi Terry, I am so thankful for your quick response. I keep think oh man I only have a few more weeks to get that weight off. Now in just one week I see the surgeon. So far I've played with the same 10 lbs. I hope I can get a few more off before next week. I will really go at. Thanks again for your response. How it everything going for you at this point? How are you feeling?

I just used a local company that supplies medical equipment and supplies to manufacturing facilities for their on site med units.I dont remember the name offhand but if you cant find one, I will get the name. It only cost me aout $ 150.00 for 100 10cc syringes 100 huber needles and 20 10 cc vials of saline and it is legal without a prescription.

Hey ya'll! My name is Mary, but I am better known as Mommy or "The Cake Lady"! I make professional wedding cakes..well, any occasion really! I just got my lapband on 10-01-2008. I started out at 243 pounds, 5'7" tall. I have high blood pressure and Hypothyroidism. My Dr. is Dr. Scott Bovard, (SUCH a cutie) from Wake Forest North Carolina. I found him on the internet. The staff in his practice are super nice and I love them! They are more like good friends than just receptionists. Cassie is the best! My husband is Eric, a Marine. Although he is no longer active duty (Thank you God...) the lifestyle remains. You know what they say, Semper Fi! Eric still gets the same haircut, he likes things in their place and is very prompt and expects greatness from everything, and it is hard for him to accept any thing less! We have been married since January 04, 2005. Together we have two babies, Benjamin (2) and Katelyn (1). I have a daughter from my first marriage, Avery (6) and he has a daughter Gabrielle (6) from before I met him. Literally, a one night stand...he met a girl one night at a bar when he was in the Marine Corps and well...one thing lead to another, never saw her again until she told him she had his child! DNA proved it ...such luck! Gabi lives with her mother in Maine, it is so pretty up there! We live in Virginia. Emporia Virginia is so small. But, it's home! I grew up here for the most part, I did go to high school in CA. My father lives there. But, I moved back here after school and joined the Navy (where I met my first husband). After my divorce from my first husband, I came back to Emporia and lived with my mom. Then, when I met Eric we moved to Louisiana, then Kentucky (where Eric is from) and then again back here to Emporia. My mother died in 2006, and I inherited her house here. It's very nice, we just built a new screened porch and laundry room. Well, anywho....enough about me!

Hi slowmover!! Well things are going well. I get my first fill on Oct. 6th. I basically went through my recovery alone because my husband went out of town that night and I had to take care of the kids. (forget the medal...give me a spa vacation!!). I didn't tell anyone else about the surgery, so I couldn't lean on them afterwords. But the recovery went really well...no gas pains, no shoulder pains, it was really easy compared to my c-section surgeries (I've had 3). I'm just looking forward to losing weight. I have lost 10 pounds so far...but nothing in the last week. So I can't wait for a fill!!

Hello everyone....I am waiting for approval for procedure and i was told I have to stop smoking and lose 10-15 pounds before surgery....i am struggling....any tips.?
-
Hi Magaines,
I am very interested in your journey. My situation seems to be similar to yours. My last weigh in was 196.5 with BMI of 35.2. I just received my insurance approval and my surgery is scheduled for 10/14/08. What I am experiencing is a bit of fear mixed with excitement. There are a few people that I have not told that I am approved and scheduled because I know they will try to talk me out of doing this and/or tell me I should do this or that. Did you have people try to discourage you from having the surgery? If so, how did you handle it?

Hi, I got my surgery 10/23/07 but I started out at a size 22 and I'm down to a size 10. I weight now 153 lbs and I can't wait to get to 125 lbs. Keep up the great work!

Do you have alot of weight to lose? I started at 273 and I have lost 26 pounds so far. I hope to lose the 10 pounds they want me to lose and another 10 or so before Christmas. It will be awsome.
I'm going to go to as many support group meeting they have at first. I love these boards to see how people are feeling and whats working for them. It's been nice to see what foods have pro & cons too.
My mother in law went to Mexico this summer. She's lost about 30 pounds but is still eating everything and says she's not full. I think she needs another fill. She doesn't have doctors to really follow her and give support like we will. Good luck next week.
