  1. Hey Melanie . .I'm doing well. Consistent weight loss and had my first fill on 10/1. How did your 2nd fill go and are you feeling more restriction?

  2. OK GF, deep breaths. It's a lifestyle change, and there's no race. After my big unfill this summer (2cc's), I've been hungry...I went back to my old 'I should be able to do this myself now' mode and I'm now wearing 10 new pounds (I've got a Doc visit on the 12th). It's all too easy for us (especially we pro-dieters) to go back to old ways...building that headband is harder than the Band part.

I think WW is a great idea...the new system is easy and it's more teaching you a lifestyle than deprevation and dieting, so I think it works well.

Glad your back so we can support each other through all this! Let me know how I can help! ((hugs))

  3. Congrats on getting your band!!!!! Remember to stay motivated! I lost mine for a couple of months but I am back at it. I lost a total of 10 pounds in September and I am so happy!!!! No secret just a lot of sweat! LOL! I spend a total of an hour in the gym M-F. 30 on the elliptical and 30 on the bike. Sometimes I will stay a little longer and get on the treadmill for 10 min and lift some weights. I wish I could do the treadmill for longer but I have foot problems (from the weight)! I am hoping once I get under 300 it will get better. 388 was a lot of pressue on my poor feet! Now at 322 I can tell the difference but they still hurt. I have started to bake my fish also instead of fying it. Good luck!

  4. I do Zumba for exercise and yes, I have a big amoutn of skin on my stomach. I am actually scheduled for my extended tummy tuck on January 10, 2010. So excited! Good luck to you all!

  5. I have heard from my nurse educator that the band works best when it's wide open. You are a testament to that....thanks for sharing. I will be banded on 12/30/10

  6. It's good to see that you are back. I know everyone feels some frustrations about the new site and all of the changes. However, changes are something we all must get use to and the more you’re on here it's not that bad. Well, things are good with me and I had my surgery on July 21, 10. It's been a little over 4 months now and about 40 less. I am doing fairly well but my we...

  7. Hey Nat! Everything is going well. No complaints! I went in for my first fill today, ekk. It was a bit uncomfortable because Christina (the PA) couldn't find my port, so there was a lot of searching and pressing down on my stomach. What she thought was my port was scar tissue, I can't blame her though it felt like my port. But I eventually got my fill. I got 3.7 cc's in my 10 cc band. I have to be on liquids for 48 hrs, then soft foods for 1 day then back to solids. Not toooo bad.

How's everything with you? Hope the classes are going well. Have you started going to your appts? Hope all is well with work and school :P

  8. I've had 10 surgeries in the last 2 years - from a bone spur in my big toe to a total knee replacement. In comparison, the band was a breeze. I suppose it helped to have docs that knew what they were doing and had done it many times, but after reading so many posts of people's horror stories, I was concerned.

Other than a sore throat (now gone) I have some soreness in my abdomen. Not unbearable and the pain meds are keeping it under control. No nausea, no shoulder pain and I sleep in any position I want to.

I have had restriction from the beginning. The doc added 4 cc to my 14 cc band during the installation. While doing the swallow test, I could see - and feel - the liquid pause in the pouch before entering the stomach. Very cool. I'm on a liquid diet for a week while it heals, and an 8 oz protein shake fills me up for several hours.

Overall, this has been a pleasant experience and I am looking forward to a "new" me.

    Where are you?

  9. How are things going with your weight lost. I am really trying to get down at least 10 /15 pound before 12-15-2010. My husband is riding his motorcycle with his the other bikers to give out toys for tots around the surrouding area. I don't want to look good riding with my husband.

  10. Ok....I haven't been on here in prob 9 or 10 months?? Slacker, I know....just can't seem to keep up with you... ;)

  11. Hey! I'm feeling pretty good. I'm on my 10 day work stretch so i betta be ready! I'm excited now that i can start loosing some weight! My new goal is 30 lbs down by feb 20 cause i have a wedding to be in so u know im on a tare now! U doing ok?

  12. My doctor put me on a 10 day liquid fast because I have a dilated esophagus (because I'm a food addict) and I'm realizing that food is my life. I have a ton of hobbies that I love to do, but food is what I look forward to. How in the hell do I get out of this cycle?

  13. you look amazing... I just have to ask what your daily routine is like. I was banded a week after you on 10/13 and have only lost half of what you have lost. did you lose a lot pre-op? After seeing you I'm starting to wonder what I'm doing wrong.

  14. Happy Chanukach!! Sorry,....didn't even know that you wrote back. Anyway, I had absolutly nothing before. I went in and talked to my doctor about it. She referred me to my surgeon and when I went to see him, that was when I made the decision to have it. I was placed on his waiting list. My first visit with him was on October 6th,and I got a call from his scheduler the first week of November and was scheduled for the 24th. I had pre-op at the hospital the week before, checked into the hospital the night before the surgery, and was wheeled in to the OR at 10:30 in the morning. They discharged me the next day at 12 noon. I boarded a bus and headed home to Eilat.

I was born and raised state side as well. I too have dual citizenship.

Have you had your surgery? Or at least is it scheduled? I had my first fill yesterday.......was interesting. Good luck and hope to hear from you soon.

  15. hi scotschick it,s elaine aka cavalier2us I a doing good had my 1st bandiversary on the 24th nov 08 and i am down 10 stone and loving the band the support groups are on the last mon of each month i have booked beechwood until april so far.

  16. Hi I am new to this site and I am new to lap band. I was banded on 12/01. I am still on the mushy diet. But I cheated today and then had an emotional cry over it. I know i am addicted to food. I know the band is there and working I didn't over eat I just ate some things not allowed on the mushy diet (like potato chips and dip!) and I feel really guilty about it. Now I am worried I have done something to the band or messed something up....I don't know. I am so frustrated right now. I really appreciate your post, it is very inspirational to me. Do you have any other words of advice for this "wagon teeter"?

    Thanks!

    and God Bless!

    Michelle

  17. I didn't get a date yet i stil have to get my testing done and they are on 1/19 my next day off i have to build my pto back up again the DR said i had lose some weight before i could get the surgery done so it would be saft for me i am now 320 wow i finally said it and since than i have been in a very blue mood and it is also some personal thing going but that explans the one pint of haagan-dazs ice i just ate before dinner but ill get it togeether thanks for bday shot and keep on keeping on

  18. I get mushie foods in a week and then after a week of mushie I can start eating regular foods. My first fill is not until Dec 29 so I should be good for Christmas. And listen 10 pounds lost is good. It beats the heck out of 10 pounds gained. I think if your band has slipped you would have some other types of symptoms. At least I would hope so anyway. The way my doctor explained it to me is without fills there is little to almost no restriction. But I don't know all doctors are different.

  19. Eh I'm depressed lately. Still surgery weight. The day after surgery when I got home I had bloated up another 10 lbs from IVs and crap..about 3rd or 4th day out those went byebye and now I am stuck st 363 again and not moving. All of the other november banders are losing even ones that were banded after me and I'm still stuck...but of course I don't think any of them lost 56 lbs before either. I think my body is in shock...plus it's still swollen and bloaty.

  20. Hi Pete! I was looking up people that might on the high end of the bmi chart to help share the journey. I was banded 10/27/08. Keep me informed of your progress! ;)

  21. For those who are kaiser patients in the S.F. bayarea, their is a bariatrics dept. in Richmond and South San Francisco. You just have to get referred by your Doctor. I will have my 1st fill on Dec 9. I researched for quite sometime, due to far travel and expensive fills. My doctor has referred me to SSF Kaiser, my fill will be only $10 which is my copayment. Good Luck, let me know if I can be of any help.
