    Pureed diet

I started my liquid pre op on June 6 and since then I have lost 23 pounds. I hit the expected and much talked about 3 week stall . Thankfully I read enough posts to not get upset when the scale didn't move much. I haven't weighed this week yet. It's that time of the month and I don't want to get discouraged.

    February Sleevers - Help!

The 3-week stall usually happens anywhere from 2 to 4 weeks post op and can last for up to 3 weeks or so. It sucks, but it's just your body reacting to all the mean sh!t that you've done to it lately. You just need to follow your plan and push through. You can do it!

    Anti- head hunger

Sounds like your 3 week stall was right on schedule. Sorry about that, but you know it will pass. I got sick of my chewable vitamins (too sweet) and switched to a capsule. Good luck!

    Stalls:(

Most ppl go through the EXACT same thing. When I hit the famous "3 week" stall, it last for 2 weeks. It gets better! I'm down 55lbs in 3 months.....hang in there!
  5. Has anyone heard of the "3 week stall"? I am 3 weeks out and have stalled on my weight loss. I mentioned this on a Myfitnesspal forum and someone said that a 3 week stall is common. She also said I should be able to find lots of info online about it. I've come up with zilch. So I'm asking fellow bandsters what's the word???

    Disappointed

I'm starting week 4 today. The same thing happened to me except I gained weight in week two. 9 lbs! After losing 17 the first week. Don't worry. The scale will move again. Stalls are normal. And the dreaded 3 week stall is famous around here....look it up. I had the same fears and it all came off and I'm still going down. Just follow your plan and you'll be fine!
  7. Sleeved one is the most important May 7 and down 23 lbs. Finally getting past a 3 week stall. May 7...here I come!!

    Bye Bye 300

Congratulations!!! That is an amazing milestone to reach. I'm happy for you. I found going from 300 to 299 and from 200-199 to be a time of i know at least 2-3 week stalls. I finally didn't weigh for a week and boom I was there. An amazing accomplishment,

    Any Regrets?

For the first 4 weeks I had many days where I regretted it. I was throwing up daily, it hurt to even drink & to add insult to injury I had a 3 week stall. I felt like I'd made the biggest mistake in my life......BUT I'm 6 weeks out now & these last 2 weeks have been soooo much better & the stall has ended & I'm down 40 lbs & feel so much better! I can't wait to see all the amazing things my future holds!!!

Frustrated because of stalled weight loss

You are having the infamous 3 week stall. There is nothing you can do to change it. LOL. You just have to persevere and muscle through it. It's so hard. I whined the whole way through mine! Mine lasted 6 days. I went up and down the same 1-2lbs and it was crushing. Then I started losing again. The End. ((hugs))

  12. I have read several other posts about the 3 week stall. I had surgery 4/18/17. Lost 15 lbs my first week, 7 lbs my 2nd week...and one whole pound this week. I'm going back to work in the morning. When should the weight loss start increasing again? PRE SW 306 SW 297 CW 274 Sent from my SM-N920V using BariatricPal mobile app

    Stuck and depressed!

I've seen people say increase liquids, protein, and calories to break the stall. I had the 3 week stall and broke it with the above plus exercise. And I don't cheat at all. Carbs are evil. Maybe go back to logging your food and see if there are hidden calories?

    ESG post diet

Hi. I had my ESG on June 15th. I agree with you, it doesn’t make sense and mine was for 21 days. At day 15th, I was doing great and added sugar free pudding, Greek yogurt and hummus. No issues. I’m now a day past week 4. My weight loss has slowed tremendously, but everyone or majority slow down or have a 2 to 3 week stall. But it’s still about the calorie deficit. I’ve started with weights but I know I need more cardio. With the liquid diet I was too exhausted but now I’ve added other soft foods and energy is coming back. Unlike sleeve or bypass, my doctor has released me to do any workouts. We don’t have the staples or stomach cuts.
  15. Mine is still going strong. This week, I finally put the scale away and have not been weighing myself everyday as I foolishly had been doing. I really expected to see some sort of drop this morning, but nothing. I'm honestly devastated. I'm walking everyday, keeping calories around 800 or less, drinking water. I started out with a quick 17 pound drop after being sleeved on 8/3 (SW 275, CW 252). I know the 3-week stall is real--how long did it last for you until you started dropping? I'm losing my mind here.

    Weight Loss Stall, Frustrated

I haven't lost a dang thing in a week! [emoji45] I guess this is the 3 week stall. Rather discouraging to say the least 5' 5" HW: 259 CW: 235 GOAL: Healthy and hard 140-ish?

    Stall?

My 3 week stall lasted 9 excruciating days and when it was over, 5lbs.the next week. As long as you are doing what you should be doing, the weight loss will come. We just have to be patient.
  18. Hey ya'll, I was sleeved on August 1, 2011 and I lost 21 lbs during weeks 1&2. The reason why I'm frustrated is because I have been in a stall for exactly 3 weeks. Now, I know that a lot of ppl have gone thru this 3 week stall but, I haven't losed an inch for 3 weeks either. In fact I gained 5 lbs this past week, and I don't know WHAT IS GOING ON! After being stalled for 2 weeks my surgeon told me that I needed to up my fluids because I was only getting in about 30oz a day, so I increased my Water and have been drinking btn 64-80oz a day, and as a result I gained 5lbs. I'm getting in 64-90 oz of fluids, eating 4 times a day, walking 3 times a day (15 min. each as instructed) and still nothing. I have read these threads where they tell ppl ' Oh don't worry, even though your not losing weight you are definitely losing inches' Well not for me, and I feel very very discouraged. I have over 100 lbs to lose and I don't think that I will lose even 1/4 of that. HELP, because I don't know what I'm doing wrong. P.S: I know there are a lot of threads about these dreadful stalls but I needed to vent and get some advice, HOPE YOU'RE NOT ANNOYED.
  19. In 4 days I hit the one month mark since gastric. I had been at the 3 week stall and all of the sudden I lost 2 lbs. I was super excited. Yesterday all I had for the day was almost one full protein drink and I made tacos for my family. I took a little of the 90/10 hamburger meat , a little of the light sour cream, a sprinkle of the cheese, and about a tsp of fresh salsa and mixed ut up. That was my dinner. Tell me why I woke up almost 2 lbs heavier?!?! I am seriously so upset. It's like im never supposed to eat. Very discouraged. I know this is tmi but I haven't used the bathroom in like 5 days but dont feel like I need to either.

    Weight Gain Normal?

With all due respect, no. Just...no. Gaining weight this early out is COMPLETELY normal. It's not possible to gain 6 pounds of fat by overeating as early out as she is. You could be eating McDonald's shakes at this stage with chocolate chip Cookies and still lose weight. You are dead wrong. It's part of the 3 week stall. She is just one of the lucky ones that gains while the body adjusts. She will start losing weight again once it passes. You just stay the course and let your body do its thing. Don't get discouraged! You're doing great! i completely disagree with your statements. You are entitled to your opinion but the surgery itself does not cause fat to melt. It's the severe restriction of calories. The truth is the scale doesn't lie but we can lie to ourselves. It takes like 3,000 extra calories to gain a pound (not including Water weight). So if someone is gaining weight they must be sneaking in extra calories and most likely through carbs. The poster in question has admitted she is a vegan and on top of that is not even able to eat vegan Protein. So I'm guessing her diet is mostly carbs at this stage. These are my opinions, of course, take them or leave them as anyone seems fit.

These are my opinions, of course, take them or leave them as anyone seems fit. The flaw in your logic is that you aren't accounting for water weight. We are advised to drink a minimum of 64 oz. of water a day. That's four POUNDS of water a day. Retaining any amount of that can cause large fluctuations on the scale that have nothing to do with calories or gaining fat. To gain 6 pounds of actual fat, the original poster would have had to ingest 21000 EXCESS calories in 4 days (PS: it takes 3500 excess calories to gain a pound, not 3000 as you said in your post). That's an average of over 5200 EXTRA calories a day at only a week post op. I don't know about you, but I was struggling to get in over 400 calories a day at 7 days post-op. There is no way the original poster is physically capable of consuming something like 7000 calories a day this early out. Unless she's hooked up to a milk shake IV or something. This is clearly her body responding to the trauma of surgery and retaining water.

    Anyone else not losing?

I'm not losing but I think it's because I hit the 3 week stall

    3 week Post op update!

Thanks so much for all of the information!! I'm telling myself now that I won't be obsessed with the scale, in hopes of not being hooked on watching for that 3 week stall. I doubt I'll actually manage that, though, since my OCD probably won't be that forgiving. I've gotten some Protein powder samples already but will add that specific type at GNC to my purchase list. I know a lot of people struggle getting in protein initially, so I'd like to get the biggest bang I can out of the powder I use. I'm not super active now (shocking, I know...lol) but am looking forward to feeling better and having more energy post-op. I will add in cardio early on, too, as I think that's a key component to early, consistent weight loss. Thanks again for sharing so much. ~Kat
  24. thank you! Every one has a valid story to tell..for sure! Not to discredit anyone's experience!!!...need the Water now though...had that dratted 3 week stall..grrr.

Stalling at 3 weeks Am i alone?

@@nikireed4_22 You just has major surgery. I remember it took me a good 5 weeks to start feeling like myself. This will all be a distant memory soon. As far as the stall, it's the classic 3 week stall 99% of people go through. There are many, many threads on this forum about it if you want to read up why it happens. @@Katie K Kitt It is frustrating isn't it?? But it won't last. You will lose weight, I promise. Just keep in mind that those of you who don't have a ton of weight to lose will find that the weight loss will be slower. Just the way it is. Work on meeting your fluid and protein goals these first several weeks. Staying hydrated and getting enough protien for healing is what's most important right now, not the number on the scale.
