    meal plan

I am assuming that you are probably communicating from Australia perhaps. Due to the use of metrics and the fact that you are about to fall asleep. So maybe the regiment on Bariatric Surgery might be somewhat different there. Here in the States, they provide us with a document that provides a basic meal plan. The document describes the volume of food to be consumed at each meal based on the stage after surgery (first 4 weeks, weeks 5-8, weeks 9-15, months 4-6, months 7-9, months 10-12, months 12-18 and months 18 and beyond). It delineates each meal by ounces of Protein, starch, fruit, and vegetables). Then it defines which items (such as yogurt, Beans, rice etc.) are approved in each category at any given time after surgery. This meal plan is very complicated and regimented. When you went through surgery, did you receive the same type of document.

Sleeve is on Wednesday the 28th

Hello. I am strictly drinking premier, and only drinking propel water. The shakes I've had that I like are vanilla, strawberry, banana and chocolate. I won't try the carmel. And I don't like coffee anything. So I will be really happy to have yogurt too.

    6 days post op

Full liquids are getting dull quickly. I enjoy my sugar free Popsicles. I finally made it to the required intake of 64oz, most days I've been under. Protein is difficult for me as well. I used to like the GNC strawberry whey and now not so much. But I used to add frozen fruit, spinach, and coconut oil. So that's probably the issue, it's bland right now. I added ice tonight and it was better. I may have to add coconut milk to the skim milk for flavor. I enjoy the light vanilla yogurt, Sugar free puddings, and broth. I've tried the thinned down creamed soups strained. I would rather just broth. Cream of what isn't bad. It's funny how one little yogurt lasts 3 days Total side note, all the constant ads and pictures of food on TV and the internet are really obnoxious and annoying. I don't generally watch tv so I've increased my exposure and of course my sensitivity to it has increased.
  4. I think I ate too much. I had 4 bites of eggs and a half greek yogurt, now I just feel gross. I was doing fine, then all of the sudden i was DONE. But I think it was a bite ir 2 too late [emoji53] Sent from my SM-G930T using BariatricPal mobile app
  5. I can only speak to my personal experience on the pureed stage. I did not do well on this phase at all. For me it was a texture issue. I do not eat Beans with the exception of green beans so this option was out for me. I survived this phase by using premier Protein shakes and milking them down with lactaid. At first it was about 50/50 until my puch could handle that shake all alone. I still cannot eat eggs and I used to love them. I believe it was pureeing eggs that ruined them for me. For me it is both about the taste and the heaviness of them What I did eat during this stage was cottage cheese, yogurt, creamed soups, cream of wheat made with fair life milk, protein shakes.i do remember wanting some cooked carrots so bad that I actually made fresh carrots and cooked them to the point they were somewhat mushy. I used a little butter (ver little), salt and pepper. I mashed them with my fork and then made sure I chewed them to a pureed stage before swallowing. I am not sure if this is true or not but I believe it is for me, because I had such a small variation of these foods it allowed my tummy to truly heal in that first 4 weeks. I did not always hit my protein but I was told to do the best I could. At the end of that 4 weeks I was able to start eating chicken, fish, ground meats with no problem what so ever. Chicken breast became my new best friend. I was also allowed vegetables and fruit as long as it was softer. At the 10 week mark, I could eat pretty much anything with no trouble as long as I chose nice tender cuts of meat. I eat beef tenderloin, pork tenderloin, chicken, shrimp, fish and I love them. I also crave vegetables. The trick is NOT over cooking your protein or it becomes dry. Also adding sauces, gravies helps in the beginning. Personally pureed foods was the worst stage to tolerate for me but I made it through and my tummy healed well. Although I don't need to drink protein shakes any longer I do have one every morning (premier protein). I have come to actually love them and it gives me a protein boost before I work out.

Check the sugar content. If it's over... what? 15 Grams? Then you don't want to eat it. Try sugar free Popsicles. Healthy Choice has a frozen Greek yogurt that's good, too. It comes in 1/2 servings, but only three in a package.

    Week 2 (stall?)

Hey Dawn. I gained 15 lbs in the hospital and let me tell you, I was hot! Lol. I had orginally planned to only weight at the dr's office or monthly but tomorrow is my two week mark so I decided to sneak a peak. I have lost the reminder of the gained Water weight plus one pound. I like you am thinking that it may not be fast but it is progress! I am finding it so hard to get my Protein and fluids in. I love to drink, I just get busy and realize that it has been two hours since I drank anything. Then I try to drink slowly but efficently for the remainder of the day. Does that ever happen to you? Today I bought some different soups, snack size cottage cheese, and Greek yogurt with fruit on the side. I am hoping that having access to this "easy" protein will help. Also, have you started back with your supplements? I did only take bc pills. Now I am trying to take the nausea meds, bc pill, Multivitamin, b-12, vit d and Calcium. I just don't have the room for it all so it usually ends up being nausea meds, pain med at night, and bc pill. Just curious if you are taking supplements, how are you dividing them out? Hope you have a great day!!!
  8. I tried yogurt hopeing my tastes had changed, nope still don't like it I am taking a multivitamin but that is it. My doctor hopes I will be able to keep all my levels up on my own but we are checking them all in the middle of this month and if I'm not then I'll have to take supplements! The only other thing I take is the Nexuim everyday! I've been getting in like 2 C of milk and now eggs and protein drinks so I hope I don't end up going on any supplements!

Week 2 post op sample diet

Week 2 was still liquids for me, but when I was able to add more solid food, I started with Greek Yogurt and cottage cheese then progressed to scrambled eggs and canned corned beef hash.

    Snack Ideas

My snacks are usually reduced fat string cheese, Dannon Light & Fit Greek Yogurt with some granola or Kashi cereal mixed in, 1 oz. of dry roasted lightly salted peanuts, some sort of meat stick (like a beef stick, but usually turkey instead), and protein bars.

    Pre-op today

I'm good. I'm down 24 lbs I'm on the mushy food menu now Still not back to work. I'm hoping to have enough energy to go back to the gym tomorrow. I've tolerated most everything I've eaten. My shakes are good and I can do cottage cheese and yogurt. I tried eggs and that was not fun. But I had the band a few years ago and couldn't eat eggs with that either. Where are you in your journey?

    September Bandsters??

Hi. The nutritionist was with the doctor. I had to see her before the surgery and she gave me a booklet about how to eat before and after the surgery. I'm on soft foods now so I had a scrambled egg and 4 crackers for Breakfast, Taco Bell's pintos & cheese for lunch, banana & Peanut Butter for snack and for dinner I will probably have some chicken & creamed spinach. Tonight I'll either have sugar free/fat free pudding or a frozen yogurt bar. I too have 6 incisions the biggest being right next to my belly button where the port is. You will feel better every day. I can say by the 2nd week I felt really good.

Water Intake, How do I Eat Soup?

Ok, the ONLY reason we can't eat and drink at the same time is because the food will leave our sleeves quicker, so we won't feel as full for as long, so we MIGHT eat more than we should. That's it. Soup will not harm our sleeves. So yes, it's a good idea to not eat and drink at the same time if you can't control your urge to eat when your sleeve is empty. But if you want soup, eat soup! Just be aware you might get hungry again sooner than if you eat a solid meal. If so, have a high Protein snack and move on. I eat soup all the time. In fact, I just finished a cup of French onion soup with melted Gouda cheese. MmmmMmmmmGood! And then I had two cubes of pineapple for dessert. Its 7pm and I will be having a bedtime snack of Greek Yogurt flavored with vanilla Protein powder in a few hours.

    Ice cream

I tend to stick to frozen yogurt. We have a local shop that does all diabetic and bariatric friendly frozen yogurts and that's my spot during the summer months. I can eat regular ice cream but I usually avoid it.

    Im a Beginner

Hi Melissa: Are you taking gasX and/or an anti-spasmotic such as Bentyl? GasX helps and the Bentyl was prescribed for me along with Prevacid. If you dislike shakes how about trying to make your own with Greek Yogurt? A cup of it has over 20g Protein. Remember that your body cannot absorb more than 30g at a time so even if you took a 60g protein pill only half would get absorbed. I also been eating cottage cheese. I buy the whipped kind... tastes the best to me... don't like the chunkier ones. I am sick of everything (with regards to food) right now and I feel your pain. You are freshly post op and those spasms of pain in your belly get better. I only get them now when I either eat something I shouldn't i.e.. carbs or I am reaching fullness. I really do not feel hungry but I feel I should be eating... force of habit I guess.
  17. The ONLY things I can eat that much of is yogurt.
  18. I know we all have differing pre op liquid diets but could yall give me a few tips and pointers? My liquid diet is 2 weeks of Protein shakes, clear and cream Soups (strained) sugar free Jello and pudding and yogurt. Any combinations that were tasty and filling for yall? I have Isopure unflavored Protein powder to mix into pretty much everything i eat so getting my protein in wont be a huge issue. Just looking for a few creative ideas that will make this a little easier. Thanks in advance for your responses!!

    Now approaching Twoderville!

Thank you both for your encouragement!! I know my problem is waiting.........! :bored: I do have restriction the day I get a fill and the day after. So I will wait for more fills to help me the rest of the time. I am eating 3 meals a day but having 2 or 3 snacks too. Yes I have changed the way I eat. No sweets, no breads, no potatoes. Protein, vegs and fruits. And since I'm still starving on just the 3 meals a day I changed my snacks to yogurt, fruit or oatmeal. I was never told how many carbs I am suppose to have daily...just eat lots of protein. I am glad I am on the right track! Losing weight is so much better than gaining. Thanks again for your advice:biggrin:
  20. I second that... I'm 2 months out and I can't get 60 grams of protein without adding some protein powder to some of my food. I eat a lot of fat-free refried beans mixed with unflavored protein powder. Also soup, oatmeal (I use protein oatmeal from the BariatricPal store, which is already protein-fortified, but I only eat half a packet and I add some more protein powder to it), yogurt, applesauce, sugar-free pudding, mashed cauliflower... Anything mushy is easy to mix with protein powder. For sweet things like yogurt, sugar-free pudding, or oatmeal, I prefer to use flavored protein powder (vanilla yogurt with vanilla or strawberry protein powder, chocolate pudding with chocolate protein powder, oatmeal with cinnamon roll protein powder). My dietitian also told me I should be eating more. I'm averaging about 450 calories per day and she says I should be eating 800-1000 calories per day. I really don't see how that's possible within the guidelines I was given (3 meals per day, maximum 1/2 cup per meal, no snacks except protein shakes).

    Feeling Full

Yesss....that is totally how I feel with soup, yogurt, etc.. The only reason I stop eating is because it still hurts once the food is going down or I get really bad acid reflux (or what feels like reflux). Sometimes I keep regretting this decision.

    Surgery tomorrow

Remember to walk, walk, walk and walk. Gas X and therma care heating pads for the shoulder help me. Also I brought plain greek yogurt to add to my soups. As a matter of fact I use greek yogurt in everything! Remember Protein Protein and Protein. You will do just fine. Good luck to you and welcome to the otherside!

    Food Fail

If you don't try, you won't know, so I guess that is one way of learning specially if you were told it would be ok??? I know I am going to stick to egg's, cottage cheese, yogurt, and stuff like that for atleast 2 months after my surgery, I don't want to feel yucky!!! But I suppose if your scared to try new things too you won't ever lead a normal life after surgery. So eventually I will start trying. I am most concerned with the whole dairy thing? I hear alot of people don't take dairy very well after bypass? I would love to hear your experiences with diary?
  25. Hi Everyone I am 2 weeks 2 days post op. I can not believe how briliantly it has gone. I am eating and have been eating since day 3 smoked haddocked cooked in milk and blitzed down with sweet potatoe and a handful of baby spinach bliized served in to two different small piles or asaparagus and a touch of garlic and milk blitzed. Greek yogurt with fresh mango or berries blitzed in. is this normal to be eating food like this so soon. I have lost just over 1 stone and feel fantastic. I am just listening to my body and have had no discomfort at all. Does anyone know if you are allowed champagne after a plication (i am going to a wedding)? Hope everyone else is as good as me.
