Dannon Light & Fit Greek Yogurt - Toasted Coconut - 80 cal & 12g protein and tastes great!
-
I didn't have any that last 6 weeks, but I did leading up to that point. Oikos Triple Zero Greek Yogurt is the ticket. Every flavor of it is excellent. High Protein content, too. Excellent product.

Which brand of yogurt did you have if any during the pre op 2 weeks. I'm allowed one a day. This is day 6 for me and I had a yogurt for the first time yesterday. And I started to feel hungry which I haven't all week and later when I came home I got a headache. I can't remember the name because it was odd. You can get it at whole foods. It wa a nonfat 5oz yogurt,100 cal, 0.5g of fat, 5grams of fiber and 14 g of protein and 13g of carbs. How bad was this?

@@bellabloom Here is my go-to list 1. Breakfast. Skinny crustless quiche 2.00 cup(s), All Whites 100% liquid Egg Whites 0.25 tsp(s), Spices, pepper, black 0.25 tsp(s), Salt, table 0.50 cup, shredded, cheese, mozzarella, low moisture, part-skim 1.00 cup, Cottage Cheese - Non Fat 0.25 cup, chopped, Broccoli, cooked, boiled, drained, without salt 0.33 lb(s), Ground Turkey 85/15 - 3 Lb. Pkg You can substitute carrots or whatever other veggies you want. It makes 8 servings and is 113 calories roughly, 15 grams of Protein. I put some pineapple citrus salsa on it to spice it up a bit. I'll switch it up every now and then and just do whole egg, scrambled and some kind of meat to keep me full until lunch rolls around. 2. Lunch. Low fat Turkey meatloaf 1.00 lb(s), Fit & Easy 99% Fat Free Ground Turkey Breast 3.00 oz(s), Tomato Paste, 100% Natural 1.00 tbsp(s), Tomato Paste, 100% Natural 1.00 egg, Large Egg - Yummy and Delicious 1.00 large, eggs - White only, raw 2.00 tbsp(s), Cheese, parmesan, grated 3.00 clove(s), Garlic, raw 4.00 tablespoons, Restaurant Style Salsa Citrus Pineapple 1.00 cup, Chopped White Onion makes 4 servings, 186 calories, 8g carbs, 32g of protein 3. Snack Light string cheese, 50 calories a piece - 9g protein or non fat greek yogurt - 80 - 100 - 12g protein or Pure Protein Bar - chocolate deluxe - 190 calories, 21g of protein 4. dinner. Depends on the day really, sometimes I eat 4 oz grilled chicken breast, sometimes I have some beef or turkey meatballs in some marinara sauce. Up to this point in my day, I've pretty much met my protein quota, but I still like to get a little more in. 5. Late night snack. I try to stay away from this as much as possible. But if I am going to snack, I get something light, 1 oz of mixed nuts or a yogurt of some kind. After a long week, I will grab a bowl of ice cream (exactly the serving size! not opening a pint and finishing it). You appreciate it so much more when it's only once in a while and not every night. Plus Blue Bell is back on the shelves in Texas! Throw stones if you want, but I've never hit a stall more than 2 weeks because I always keep my body guessing! The moment you start getting in a routine, your body gets used to it and you got to shock it with some good calories every now and again. As you can tell, I did not mention anything about Protein shakes. I quit protein shakes when I was able to start eating meat because I get enough protein that way. I absolutely hate protein shakes now because of the first 6 weeks of nothing but powdered protein...yuck! If I never have to drink another one in my life, I'll be happy!

@@MichelleTN Oh no! Are the Premier Protein shakes making you physically sick or are you just sick of drinking them? I use the vanilla as my coffee creamer every day. If you like pudding or frozen pudding pops, put those shakes to work for you with my recipe: Premier Protein Pudding Cups or Pops Prepare pudding according to package directions replacing milk with chocolate Premier Protein Shake. I prefer to use my NutriBullet. If using shaker, shake for 3 minutes or until thickened slightly. Pour into ½ cup containers for pudding cups. For frozen pops, pour into Jello pudding pop or any popsicle molds. Jello molds hold 1/3 cup each. Pudding cups set in 5 minutes and freezer pops in approx. 2-3 hours. Any flavor sugar-free fat-free pudding works, so get creative and enjoy! Sleeved August 26 but only 20lbs
LisaS73 replied to del112's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved 8/27 and was 315 the day of surgery and today i weigh 285. I have had two stalls already but dr and nut keep saying i am doing great. I am a little reluctant to try new foods as most aren't agreeing with me so i still mostly stick to 3 protien shakes a day, one triple zero greek yogurt, a banana or grapes (to help with constipation), and lemon water. Otherwise, i just graze whatever the family is having or whatever i cook them, but like i said most of it isn't agreeing. I usually have a shake with them at the table while they eat. And if you are still having periods, dont forget bloating and water weght from that is a factor. That was actually the culprit of my first "stall". And my nutritionist told me if i feel like I've overeaten or eaten badly, i can always do a reset and go back to liquids for a day or two. Sometimes that can also kickstart a stall back in gear. Good luck and don't be too hard on yourself! -

Miserable in need of some great help
Miss Mac replied to justthebeginning's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
When I was on full liquids I began taking homemade soups and stews, running them through the blender, thinning them out with broth and adding unflavored or chicken flavored Protein powder. I also take ricotta cheese, Greek yogurt, vanilla and sweetener and blend it up into a base for my shakes. Then I make up my Protein shake and dilute it with almond milk. Then I put a lot of ice in it. It seems like the thinner and colder it is, the easier it is to get down. My favorite protein flavors are chocolate Mint, pumpkin Pie Spice, and Grapefruit made with Crystal Lite Lemonade. Shoot, I will even make up a vanilla protein shake and add some sugar free Pistachio pudding powder. Now that I am close to two years, I still volunteer to drink several shakes a week because The ricotta / yogurt mix makes them taste GOOD. When I was first post-op and Miss Tummy was still swollen and mad, I did indeed have to dilute everything to get it down. Now I can drink the consistency of a regular milkshake. Hang in there It does get better. -
I recently started going to the gym and doing both Cardio and Lifting. I was very concerned about what I should be doing, as it has been at least 18 years since I was in a gym. I found this site. http://www.aworkoutroutine.com/the-ultimate-weight-training-workout-routine/ It is a lot to read, but it made a lot of sense and helped me determine what I should be doing for now, until I get a better feel for working out. You can skip right to the sample beginner work out if you'd like. The rest of it is about the "why" of the workout. It also touches on eating before and after, but I agree with the previous comment that we are different than normal already healthy people. That said, I have about 3.5oz of non fat oikos vanilla yogurt with strawberries or 1/2 banana and about 4oz. of Isopure Protein Drink before my workout. Another 6oz of Isopure right after. Then around 45 min after my workout, an egg and some turkey sausage or something. The stuff before my workout is just to make me feel better about working out while not having an empty stomach. Probably more a placebo to me but it works. The post workout meal is probably much more important.

How Many Grams of Sugar per Day?
goblue9280 replied to bakawaka's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
2nd the Oikos triple zero recommendation... that stuff is delicious. I've never been a fan of greek-style yogurt before, but for some reason I love this stuff. Been eating a half of container for a snack just about every day. -

I too was sleeved on 10/7. Are you taking anti-acid meds? Are you burping and gassing regularly? When you burp or gas, do you feel relief in your chest area? Have you been having bowel movements? I am only on liquids, not food at this time, so most of my Protein is coming in the form of Premier Protein drinks and Isopure clear protein drinks and a yogurt daily. -
I am 7 weeks out from VSG. My typical day looks like this: Breakfast 1 5:00am or 7:00am: Half of the 5.3oz Oikos Greek Non Fat Vanilla Yogurt with Strawberries or Raspberries or 1/2 banana Breakfast 2 7:00am or 9:00am: 1 Egg either scrambled or over medium with turkey sausage or turkey bacon or smoked salmon Snack around 11am: 1 piece of string cheese or a light baby bel. i Old Wisconsin Turkey Snack Stick lunch around 1pm: Grilled chicken of some kind. Either from a Greek restaurant or Schwarma or something with grilled veggies Snack around 4pm: sugar free pudding or Jello or a handful of yogurt covered dried cherries dinner around 7:30pm fish or chicken or turkey burger or sausage (turkey or chicken) with cooked veggies Snack around 9:00pm Not every night. maybe every other night. Sugar free popsicle ****Special treat, once or twice every 7 days**** 1/2 cup Breyers low fat, no sugar added Strawberries and Cream ice cream. This only has 4g of sugar and 10g carbs. Also, I am one of about 5 people in the world who like Isopure Protein drinks. The kind in the bottle, like gatorade. I sip on one of these throughout the day here and there. That is a great way to get in both liquids and another 40g of protein.

Breakfast is the WORST for me. Running around trying to get the kids ready to go is too time consuming. I grab a Lite Greek Yogurt with fruit for breakfast. 12g of Protein, 90 Calories, 9 Carbs. A little high on the carbs but I eat a lot of protein the rest of the day so I don't get a lot more carbs unless they are from veggies.

Pureed Stage
triciakae replied to Rebeccaabrooks86's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My go to foods were mashed potatoes with added Protein powder. Cottage cheese, I would take tuna, low fat mayo and throw it in the food processor and eat it will a couple ritz crackers. Greek yogurt was also a big portion of my diet. I have heard a lot of people say ricotta bake but I cannot eat eggs. Oh and Eggs are an excellent protein source. -
They might go good with a no sugar added low fat frozen yogurt. The outside chocolate is like a normal peanut butter cup taste. The inside is like they packed a pocket full of dry pb2 powder in it. Its very dry. Like, you might as well visit a desert and eat a plate of sand.

Usually a half of the small cup of yogurt with fruit before my workout. My favorite go to post workout breakfast is smoked salmon with scrambled eggs with cheese and some fruit.

Does WLS effect our metabolism?
BLERDgirl replied to sonnysun's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
1. Men lose faster than women. In fact you can't compare yourself to anybody because there are far too many variables that go into how fast/slow someone does or doesn't lose weight. Sex, age, health issues, just to name a few. 2. Eat some complex carbs. The Fiber will help with your potty issues and I assure you, it won't slow down your weight loss. A tsp of wheat germ, flax powder or psylium powder in your yogurt, some dark green leafy veg, even Beans will help with the potty issue. -
Best (unflavored) protein powder
Nylaj replied to Skywalker's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
GENEPRO is a lifesaver for me. I can have one cup of coffee so for Breakfast, I drink my coffee & 1 scoop of Genepro. 30g of Protein. Then if I am not that hungry, I will do another scoop later in a yogurt or something. It has no flavor. It mixes well if you follow directions. -
Great post! I also had a structure and finally after 7 months I can eat a little more, bread, toast still makes me sick, very limited meat or fish, I don't understand if is the consistency or the type of meat. Breakfast is always a premier protein shake, after workout is Greek yogurt Oikos triple 0 I add chia seeds, lunch is some mix unsalted nuts and some cheese, dinner grilled veggie with salmon or turkey but not more then 3 oz. I love salad but make me feel weird. It's getting better, also I'm terrified by the idea of gaining weight back.

@@Knitchic You're very welcome! Thank you for the inspiration. I now have chocolate and butterscotch pudding in a couple of the molds and the others are filled with different flavors of Oikos Triple Zero Greek Yogurt. I'm loving having such a variety of high Protein Snacks that I can sink my teeth into that last quite a long time

This is from my Kaiser SoCal paperwork for Stage 3 - Soft Foods - Days 15 - 30. You can drink all that you had in Phase 1 and 2, plus now you can add the following: mashed potatoes thinned with light milk alternative well-cooked yams without skin steamed or poached fish, moist tuna, ground chicken/turkey soft veggie burgers low fat Beans chicken - shredded and moistened with broth scrambled egg whites or egg substitute, soft cooked or poached (not fried) greek yogurt, cottage or ricotta cheese low-fat or nonfat cheese string cheese non-fat feta cheese applesauce (unsweetened) ripe bananas soft, canned fruit in juice (pour out juice) all soft, well-cooked veggies except fibrous ones like celery and asparagus, corn seasonings - herbs ok -
Actually I guess it's closer to 800 with the chicken, but yes the pre op is a week before and just the 2 shakes, yogurt and 4 ounce chick and steamed veggies.
-
I'm curious, as it seems from reading through here that everyone's pre op is a bit different. I am having surgery Monday October 19, and am Currently finishing day 4 of my pre op diet. I actually really like the premier protein drinks but that's about all I can stomach. Which I'm assuming is ok? My pre-op consists of premier for break fast, light yogurt snack, premier for lunch, 1 cup of broth snack, then 4 oz chicken and 2 cups of steamed veggies for dinner and j can add a yogurt or fruit if I want. I'm definitely feeling physically better and def more tired with an intake of around under 500 calories a day.. I have always been a huge water drink and have been drinking about 80oz a day (I usually drink about 40-50) but I always use those powder flavors like crystal light those are ok aren't they? Any tips?
