What an outstanding NSV!!! I was looking at my side profile in the mirror today and thought that if I didn't have my saggy tummy and my love handles that I would actually be rather pleased with the way I look. That's not too bad considering I just started losing weight about four months ago! Guess I shouldn't complain about this taking so long huh? I think I am losing inches right now. I've noticed my watch is feeling more loose so something is happening. I've been trying to drink more Water today and continue with my yard activity. Got the weeds in the back pulled and tomorrow I will mow, etc. Oh! I do have one NSV. My husband stepped on the scale tonight and he has put on a couple of pounds since going back to work. So between my losses and his gain, we now weigh the same! For a while I was as much as 30 lbs heavier than him. Not anymore! I should mention that he has lost a bunch of weight lately and was actually losing weight faster than I was for a while. I never liked weighing more than him although it has been nice that we could share our Harley tee shirts LOL

    Size 20's are gone FOREVER!!!!

Congratulations on your NSV...it's amazing how different our bodies are. I started at 286, I'm now 252 and wearing size 18 jeans, I am anticipating the momemt when I reach your weight of 220 to see what size I'll be then.

    Non-Scale Victories!!

Love this thread! My top NSV has already been mentioned ... crossing my legs. Whooo hoooo! Other favs: Looking in the mirror ... I don't hate it now. I am proud of myself! My cheeks no longer swallow my eyes when I smile! I know that person in the mirror! Posing for pictures with my daughter!! Officially getting rid of all of my shorts last night except for three (too big size) 18s. Gotta keep something to wear, right? I am in size 16 pants AND XL shirts!! I am almost normal ... lol. I work in an IT department with mostly men so I haven't gotten a lot of 'recognition' in the workplace. However, today I got my first, ever so gentle and awkward ... "You're changing ... is that ok to say? It looks good on you." I am going to a scrapbooking retreat this weekend with friends I haven't seen in six months. I am looking forward to reactions! My absolute favorite is that I am now more focused on everything. As odd as it sounds, I think more clearly than I have in years! Is that crazy? Has anyone else had that 'clear' feeling?

    Non-Scale Victories!!

I love reading everyone's NSVs....it has changed my intense focus on my weight to everything that is changing for me. Wedding ring is too big and spins around Hair is longer and I am actually fixing it (Before I just put it in a ponytail) Wearing makeup for the first time in............hum.can't remember. Size 24 to size 18, almost 16. Off 8 of my medications including 4 diabetic ones A1c is down from 13.9 (high) to 6.2 (normal) Normal Blood sugar readings for the past 6 weeks FEELING BETTER takes the cake. Having more energy Getting off the couch and outside. There are more and more all the time. Thanks for the re-focusing.

I remember the first time I rode on an airplane and didn't need a seat belt extender. I remember feeling the same way. Great NSV.
  7. Hi Everyone! I've been Traveling with the Band. I drove to ABQ on Easter for a Dentist appt. on Monday. Yes, I travel over 400 miles to see a Dentist. Insane! NO! I have had the same dentist since I was 10 years old! I have only seen 1 other dentist in the last 34 years. I'm never nervous! He is a good friend of mine! AND I was the Lap Band Marketing Queen! I had some of Dr K's cards from my previous appts. You know the ones they give you with your time on the back - well I passed them out like candy! Everyone noticed my weight loss! It was such a pat on the back! Everyone knows someone who needs the surgery, so I would give them a card and my speech and then I would remind them that is has to be a very personal decison. And if someone had asked me last year at this time if I would have WLS, I would have told them absolutely not. They need to be patient and loving with their friend or family who is overweight. Give them the information and allow them to do the research and make the choice. The funny thing about seeing my friends and family was that everyone said I look like I've lost more than I have. I think when a person is my size, they wear very baggy clothes so they appear much bigger. Yes, I am huge, but I think with the baggy clothes I looked larger than that! This weekend I wore more form fitting shirts (my same huge and now very baggy pants - I only own one pair of 3xl - so I have to wear my suspenders.) and people were shocked! Someone at work said, "Hey you have boobs!" I replied, "I have always had boobs, but my tummy is now smaller - making my boobs look bigger." I guess you can call that a NSV! Okay Friends: Tina - we do need to see some recent pics! You my dear need to see some recent pics! It's such a pat on the back to see yourself in pics after you've lost weight, even if it's just 10 lbs, it's good to see the change. You're not a bad bandster! You're human and I think you're doing very well! I think I was like you before surgery. I never really ate poorly, I ate whole grains, lean proteins and a lot of veggies and fruits, but I was a bulk eater. Now I'm thrilled to be able to be satiated on a small amount. I think that is why I force myself to get a take-out container when I'm out and separate the food out before ever taking my first bite. Then I close the container and put it on an empty chair. What is on my plate is for me to enjoy and savor and what is in my take-out container is for tomorrow or later. It keeps me on track. Because I know my weakness! Amieru - Dr. K told me I could start riding my recumbent bike at 3 weeks and I could start swimming after I saw him at my 4 week appt. I think it's fine to start exercising, BUT I'd just send a quick email to Natalie and clear it with her. (how's that for a response from a former Telephone Triage Nurse?)

    Most Important NSVs

I don't guess I'm TOO surprised about the clothes being the top of the list. After all, how we dress is an outward reflection of how we feel inside as well as a statement of our identity. Stands to reason it would be a biggie. I love ALL the NSVs. No matter how small. Found a new one last night. I kept having to swivel my wedding ring around to put the setting back on top, when I finally realized what it was I was doing it was all I could do to not go wake hubby up to share the good news! LOL

    Most Important NSVs

OK, I think that this is a good time to look at the results. The votes cast are as follows: 48 Clothes fit better 46 You are or feel healthier 42 You feel more confident in yourself 19 Your sex life is better 15 Family have complimented you 12 It's easier to play with the children 10 You find it easier to do jobs around the house 09 Work colleagues have complimented you 05 You enjoy playing sports now 04 You don't have to wear a CPAP mask now So, on this very unscientific poll, the top three most important NSVs are clear. Personally, I'm surprised about the top choice, that clothes fit better, beating (not by much) you are or feel healthier. Any comments?

Ready, that is my favorite kind of NSV, when people notice! Sometimes we can be kind of hard on ourselves and don't really see the improvements. So when people point it out, it feels so good! Beach, WOW! What a great NSV!! It's so nice to get flirts from some cuties... :huh2: Keep up the good work everyone!

Okay, so mine isn't really a NSV but it made me feel soooooo goooooood that I had to post. :lol:So yesterday I went and got my first fill and I'm all excited about starting to lose weight, that I'm just giddy. Well, as I'm on my way back to work, I happen to come up on a car wreck. It had already happened and the police and fire truck were clearing the roads. So how about the 2 cuties in the "backseat" of the firetruck were totally checking me out and waving and smiling!!!!!! :drool:HMMMM....FIREMAN:drool::tt2: That just completely made my day and I was giddy the whole day!!! :sneaky::thumbup: I had totally forgotten what it was like to be checked out in a good positive way!! It kinda gave me back my spunk I had been missing!!!! LOL

    Non-Scale Victories!!

It's exciting to read everyone's progress. I wanted to add my NSVs to the list wedding ring is very loose size 26 jeans are too big size 3x shirts fit got into a size 26 Wal-Mart capris (those run small) Dressing for Easter was a little frustrating. The 3X skirt was too big, but the 2X was too small. I bought the 3X and made due for Sunday, but I want to have it alerted. Another NSV - I've only thrown up once. It's the little things in life that I'm enjoying.

NSV! I was in a clothing shope here that was haveing a big clearance sale and thought I would get a few chear items that fit. (I don't want to spend alot on things I do not intend to wear long) Was looking through one of the stand of clothes and a sales lady came up to me and said "You should look over there, you look like a size 6 and there are some real cute size 6 pants that are a very good price" I just smiles and said "THANKS". Now I am not a size six YET, and she might of just been nice trying to make a sale. I dont care.........I loved it. But I did buy a very cute pair of size 8.....to wear until I fit into those size 6 that I also got (at a very good price). Laura

I bought new clothes!! Sizes 14 and 16!! For the first time in FOREVER, I had fun shopping and felt good in my new(or old) skin. I am no longer morbidly obese, just obese!! My dh is really noticing the weight loss lately. He keeps saying that he sees glimpses of the old me again. Not so much physically, but the energy, the spunk, and the fiesty attitude I used to have before the real me got lost under all these pounds. I can see her again too and it feels really good. I RAN ON THE TREADMILL!!! For 7 minutes I ran!! I couldn't believe it!! I used to run track. I ran distances, but didn't really think I could run anymore!! Maybe I will think about the couch to 5K. Maybe a marathon is in my future. Who knows!! Ok, here's the last one.... After church Sunday, we were coming home and dh said that he kept seeing this pretty lady out of the corner of his eye. Just at a quick glance, he thought, "She looks kinda like Jenninfer Garner, wait, that's my wife." I'm no Jennifer Garner, but it's so fun to have the love of my life notice me again!!! He loves me regardless of weight, but that look in his eyes is back. You know the look. I know this is a lot of NSV, but I am finally begining to feel like a new me, and I couldn't help but share!!

    Nsv.......

Well I went snowboarding this weekend which was great without carrying an extra 65 lbs but the NSV was when I got on the chair lift....I did not worry about it leaning to one side!!! I was always afraid that the chair would hang low on the side I was sitting on. I would make sure to sit in the middle if at all possible. Not any more! I now weigh less than my husband and kids!!!!!

I am loving all of your NSV's! Keep em coming! The other day I was out riding my motorcycle and my engagement ring kept sliding around my finger from the vibration of the bike. It has never done that before. Also, my best friend was over here yesterday. She is heavier than me but has been losing weight on her own and is now in the size I was at when I was at my heaviest. I went through my closet and gave her some pretty dresses that she can either fit in now or will be able to fit in soon. She was thrilled that she got some nice new clothes and I was thrilled to get rid of them! Good riddance! LOL

    NSV- Seatbelts

My seatbelt in my car finally has give! I have some wiggle room! I can reach forward to change the radio without it choking me!! I'm glad for this NSV I noticed, since I didn't move any pounds this last week.
  21. Spring cleaning & yard work!! Ordinarily I would not think of this as fun. But I had a great boost of motivation & energy (due to my weightloss I'm sure). I live alone & last week made 13 years since I bought my house. For years, I had been so unhappy with the looks of my kitchen. It was very cluttered with no organization & just not functional at all. Over the years, I just let it go. Like I did so much other things in my life like my weight and enjoying life. Since it is just me, my kitchen table was a work station w/ junk mail and you name it. Everytime I saw it, I just sighed, shook my head, left the area in frustration & wishing things were different in there. The job just seemed to be so much & I was overwhelmed & ashamed to ask anyone to help me. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't of the caliber of needing Dr. Phil or someone to come in, but it was nowhre near what I wanted it to be. Well guess what? Something got into me & I did it! Took me parts of three days but the first day I worked for 3 hours straight. The time just flew by. I was not tired or anything. I am so proud of myself. I went through all cabinets & threw out stuff. I think I lost at least 150 pounds in clutter & plastic shopping bags. My kitchen feels like a kitchen now & looks great. I vow to never let it get out of hand again. One of my goals is to experiment with low carb/fat band appropriate cooking. I dream of dinner parties & inviting my closest most supportive friends & family. Now I see that as a possibility. I bought new placemats, pots/pans, chair cushions and curtain. And if that wasn't enough, Saturday morning I got up early, went to Walmart, loaded up and spread 11 bags of mulch in my yard all by myself. That was another project I had on my wish list. It felt so good looking at my accomplishments after i was finished. Felt even better than when I got in my first pair of jeans out of the Misses Dept. I just had to toot my own horn because I am still in shock that I did it alone. Last year this time there would have been no way.

    Non-Scale Victories!!

I first wanted to say congrats to everyone! If it wasn't for everyone on here, I would be lost and am always glad to hear from everyone!!! My NSV is that I went shopping in WalMart the a week and a half ago and bought a skirt off the "normal" sized rack thinking that if it didn't fit yet it would soon. I didn't even try it on. I went home and thought I would get a feel for how long it would be before I could wear it and it zipped right up! Then I went to wear it to church today and it was almost too big!! That amazes me! WOW! A size 18 getting too big. I never thought I would see that day... Keep posting--what great motivation this is!:crying:

Several NSV's recently. Went to Old Navy a couple of weeks ago with my daughters. I have NEVER been able to buy anything from this store, even their so called plus size department. One time I bought a pair of men's XXL pajama pants, anyway I found a shirt on their clearance rack for $5 that fit. It was a regular XL. Love getting clothes off the clearance rack that fit! The best NSV for me... I now weigh less than my dh! That has also been something that has NEVER happened to me. Of course now he's losing weight, so that may not last long.
  24. Welcome Crystal. Join in when you can. I'm all in for the liquid diet and I'm shooting for all week. Jenn and Judy, you need to keep me going. I'll need the extra help this week. Our Sunday was wonderful and so was the food. My sister and attended Mass and I was also one of the Eucharistic Ministers for the Mass. Ended up sending food home with everyone which will really help out. I got lots of compliments today. I guess spending a little extra time on my hair paid off. NSV. I discovered today that I have very boney elbows. And I found that out when I found that my thighs were hurting form my elbows digging into them. It's amazing, I actually have thighs to put my elbows on now. I even find myself putting my hands on my knees and pushing off when I stand up. Never was able to do that before. Glad everyone had a great day and hope that this is just the starting to a very wonderful week for us all. Jenn and Judy, hope we get more to join us on the liquids this week.
