I'm so glad I logged on after such a long time away from this forum!

I read the posts here today and feel so much better about my weightloss journey. I've felt like a failure, after having lost 45 lbs. and now have come to a screeching halt on the scales. I haven't lost anything in 8 weeks and wasn't going to call the doctor to schedule an appointment because I thought he'd be mad that it looks like I haven't been trying hard enough. The thing is, it's actually a miracle that I haven't gained in 8 weeks. That never happened before. So, now I'll be seeing my doctor in mid January and I'll get back on track. -
I think you'd feel better in some clothes that fit. Buy them on clearance if you have to but get rid of the really baggy stuff. I've been on a pretty steady cycle of lose a little, stall a lot, haha, don't lose your focus :-)
-
I agree on the clothes. Another thing to try is ebay - I've bought a few things there for cheap. About the stall - maybe think about whether you might have let little Snacks and meal additions work their way into your diet over time. If not - and you're still eating pretty clean and under 1200 calories of so - then the scale is bound to move in time. Your body may just be adjusting to where you are.

Last night I ventured into the world of real food again. According to my post-op diet I can have fish and cooked vegetables...so I went to Luby's and ate about 1-1/2 oz. of baked fish, maybe 12 green beans, and 2 tbsp. of mashed potatoes. Yes, I was a little scared to swallow. But I chewed the tar out of that food and I had little problem. And I sure didn't eat very much. In the hours that followed I did have 4-5 short bursts of pain in my sternum area but it was no big deal. It did, however, give me a glimpse of what it feels like to get something stuck. Motivation enough to chew, chew, chew let me tell you! The most amazing thing was how this little bit of food kept me satisfied all night long!!! :omg: I realize it won't always be this way, but it was an interesting view of things to come. I dropped another 2 lbs. This is the coolest thing ever. Slept really well last night but had the STRANGEST dreams of my life. OMG!! And they just went on and on and on and on. Can't go into details in a public forum but let me just say they involved everything from bugs in my poop, to working with the FBI to nab a former neighbor, to being unable to properly care for a baby, to being named an executive in a new corporate merger. Hey, they're just dreams, right??? :rolleyes This morning have a good deal of pain at port incision and lots of pulling sensations when I cough or sneeze (OMG!!!), etc. Also, still constipated after taking two rounds of milk of magnesia :puke:. Gas is better this morning. Much better. Will try to move around more today....go for a longer 30 minute walk....maybe even 2x!! anyone else question having te band right after surgery?
Nanny2Trey replied to skinnymom's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Absolutely. The first two weeks were awful for me. If I could have undone it without having surgery I would have. I had major problems with my BP dropping and I do mean dropping 60/40 (probably related to anesthesia meds) and I normally have high BP. I had massive bruising on my entire huge abdomen. My doctor said he hadn't ever seen anything like it. I was so depressed and so weak. All I did was cry. Could not stand Protein drinks. I did move on to small amounts of other things. It has been 7 months now and I have felt much better after the first two weeks. Have lost 75 pounds and exercise an hour a day 6 days a week. Strange thing though, my BP has never gone back to what it was. Have decreased my BP meds by half and am staying in the 120/70 range. I would say it's due to weight loss, but not totally because it was this way after surgery before I even lost. Hang in there. Things do get much better. Sorry to ramble on. anyone else question having te band right after surgery?
Nathalie replied to skinnymom's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
skinnymom - I had problems too. I was banded on 12/14 and was on a 3 week liquid diet. I could only eat pre-packaged, surgeon approved food. 4 pkgs per day. I couldn't get it down, and was eating about 200 calories per day. I was weak, sick, pained, tired, confused, fatigued. I ended up passing out, and was in the hospital overnight on an IV because I was dehydrated. My port incision got infected along with 2 other smaller incisions and I was on anti-biotics, which made my nausea even worse. I kept getting light headed. I kept getting hot flashes. It was insanity - and this was just last week! As of Tuesday I'm on mushies, and it's a whole new world! Keep your focus, think positive and believe in yourself. You'll get through it. Get your rest, do your best, and look forward to when you're healed and can eat a bit more. Good Luck! Nathalie -

Skinnymom, you couldn't be more normal! I remember a few people talking about how wonderful they felt 3 days after surgery, but I still wanted to curl up into a ball and nap every day when I was two weeks out. You'll feel a little better every day (and a LOT better when you can eat some mushies). Remember, you're going through major physical and emotional changes right now and it's going to take a while to adjust. Incidentally, I did gain about 5 lbs of my Water weight back as soon as I started eating solid foods. It came back off very quickly, so don't let it get you down if it happens to you. Try to focus on where you'll be in six months - that helped me get through. (((hugs))) -
Scale hasn’t moved since surgery

Stalls can happen. See link below. -
I got banded on the 3rd two weeks today and just about all day I have a hard sharp pain right under my left breast every time a breath it's worse
-
Same as what laguerr13 said ... walking & GasX strips helped. Mine went away within a week post-op. Still happens now & then with things I eat but the GasX helps.

My best advice is to not compare yourself to others. This is your journey. Food advice...don't overbuy. Your tastebuds change after surgery. I loved premiere shakes before surgery, after surgery they were difficult to digest. I now use Unjury protein powder. You will find what works best for you. Many brands provide samples. I lived on samples the first few weeks. Best of luck to you. Remember we are all here for you.

I am glad you are feeling better about this. Just remember through any stall (because you will have a few through this process) that no human can survive on the limited calories we are consuming (assuming you are sticking to your plan) and not lose weight. Your body may fight it for a little while but the loss is inevitable.

Sounds like typical week for me, band is quite finicky isn't it? I have been really focused lately on making sure the bites are small and chewing really really good. It seems that the issue for me is letting myself get too hungry. Empty tummy seems to let the band tighten up then even one bite too big or not chewed enough leads to stuck. So now I am getting stuck less. Also I wait about an hour or so before eating breakfast since the bands seems tight in the early am. I have chosen to keep my current fluid (6.5 cc in 10 cc band). Good luck!
-
hmmmm, that's a tough one! Are the days you are pb'ing and getting stuck, are you eating too fast or too big of a bite? In my experience, I would get an unfill, and once you have no problems go back in for a little bit more. I have had 3 unfills and felt so much better afterwards.

I also had a drain. I had to baby it. I emptied, measured cleaned and logged its contents. It was work. But I believe I'm healthier for it. I had low energy for quite some time after surgery but i rolled with it instead of fighting against it. I didn't need stress adding complications to the pot so i tried to remain super chill about everything. It was major surgery after all and i was honesty happy to be alive. My incisions took a while to heal and were very itchy so i cleaned *around* the incisions with alcohol before putting the hydrocortisone cream *near* the incisions. It helped alot. One week down many more to go !

I just had the sleeve done on Friday June 3, and yesterday June 5 I noticed that both my thighs (top and outside) were numb. I thought it was the way I was sleeping. I’ve been walking as much as I can. I called my dr and he said that it wasn’t a complication from surgery and that if it doesn’t improve to go to the ER.

I don't think anyone here can answer what your insurance carrier considers a revision. You are going to have to contact them directly. Perhaps you can phrase the question in a way which doesn't reveal you already had the band. "If I were to choose a band and then later, say, like 3 years from now, revise to the sleeve, would that procedure be covered, too?"

Help 3.5cc fill today now constant PB
elaine3758 replied to elaine3758's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
So i went back to the Doc today had him remove 1.5cc leaving the additional 2 in and now I'm fun can eat and drink again. so I'm definitely going to have to gettopped off agian. Think I'll wait a least a couple of weeks though. Thanksfor the help. -
I'm now 4 weeks out and have moved onto soft foods.... my restriction is quite severe and tonight I had chicken breast, of which I managed to eat about one third.....couldn't fit anything else in at all. Please tell me how you manage to fit in your Protein and make the transition over to foods rather than Protein drinks, as at the moment I have been having 2 protein drinks a day and one 'meal' (maybe with a snack or two depending how I feel). But I don't think I can eat enough to get in 60g protein....if I scramble an egg I can't finish a whole egg.....

6 weeks post op -
Hello all! I was just wondering when everyone graduated from mushies to solid food. Tomorrow is four weeks post-op for me, and I haven't attempted solids yet. I have not had any complications or problems with any mushies that I've tried (except I had some Soup that was too rich and gave me some wicked gas!) What are some good foods to try for my first solids in about seven weeks?

When Did You Start Full Solids?
jen_1381 replied to MissErni31's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did surgery, then 2 days of water/protein drinks, 2 weeks of full liquids, 2 weeks of mushies, and then onto regular foods. My "regular" foods consist only of protein, fruit, and veggies. The key with trying new foods is to introduce them one at a time, in case you have a bad feeling after one you'll know which one it was. I'm trying to find ways to spice up my eating plan, but I've kept it pretty basic so far.
