    Bodybugg users report here!

I feel naked when I don't have it on. Another NSV-- I have officially went from the larger strap to the "normal" sized strap for my arm! Hooray!

Great NSV's everyone! I am feeling a little discouraged. My scale has not moved much since I saw my surgeon a month ago. I see him again this afternoon and am going to just walk in with my head high. I did not change my diet; just think I have hit the "Great Plateau". Have lost 46lbs since 11/20 and need to stick with how well that went. I have one month left out of my six month pre-op diet. Think I will kick-start my diet tomorrow by doing 2 days of Protein drinks. Something's gotta give.

    Anyone from Georgia ??

Just wanted to say hi. Still plugging away. Right now I find myself wanting to snack and knowing that it's not allowed...struggling a bit with head hunger and reminding myself only to eat when hungry. It's a challenge. I lost 2 pounds after my first fill (3/18) but I'm back at a standstill again. Finally got an exercise routine going so I hope that helps. I have had the NSV of fitting into a pair of jeans that I haven't worn in six months at least, so that's something. I am still looking for a local fill doc. I have a few choices but haven't finalized yet (or found out if they will accept me -- need to send my surgery report). I'm ready to have that second fill lined up. Hope all of my fellow Georgian bandsters are well!

Great NSV's Renewed!!! I have one........I've been on vacation at the beach for my sister's wedding. The photographer took some pictures of our entire family and just kept commenting on how photogenic I was. It was nice to hear someone compliment me because I really don't like having my picture taken with other people.........I always feel like the "biggest" one and it was nice to hear such wonderful comments.

    Acronyms - Please Define

PB = productive burp (aka vomiting, or food coming back up out of your pouch) DH = dear husband NSV = non-scale victory (like going down a size in pants)
  6. I have a quick question on the acronyms I am seeing here. What is PB, NSV and DH? There may be others but these seem to be recurring. Thanks, Mary:confused2:

This thread is going to be sooo inappropriate!

. THOSE are not the options. For many, many people, the options are being banded and remaining MO or having the DS and a normal BMI. . Not a healthy lifestyle change? Why is it that people who don't get how it all works proceed to tell us that is not healthy? Why is it that our doctors and our labs say we ARE healthy? What great secret do our detractors possess that hasn't been shared with the medical professionals who are dealing with us? Cantaloupe is not healthy for my sister because her tongue swells and she can't breathe. That doesn't mean *I* can't eat cantaloupe. Maybe steak and baked potato (with butter and sour cream, thank you) and veggies and a little candy (what I ate last night) makes you fat, but not me. Maybe it's unhealthy for YOU, but not for me or for other DSers. Lifestyle change like fitting in chairs and normal sized clothes and being able to buy a small RV with one tiny bed for my husband and me and we both fit in it? Lifestyle changes like the classes I just enrolled in because I can make the hike from the parking lot? Lifestyle changes like the clubs I just joined, knowing that I won't break the chairs? I should consider this unhealthy because I didn't diet and exercise and suffer to get there? I just can't hate me that much. If YOUR goal when having weight loss surgery was to have a procedure that would help you learn how to diet and how to call puking by cute names and how to change your original goals from losing weight to "NSV's," then the band was a very good choice. MY goal was to lose weight. I did. And I don't stink and some moron's saying I do is not only very insulting but demonstrative of the ignorance of some of the posters but it also has to potential to hurt some of your "friends" who are desperately seeking a way out of their nightmare. Way to go on support. Sue

    March Exercise Challenge

Jess :I was reading about the big OshKosh race i have coming up in 2 weeks and they said there will be a Zumba display there! Ok majorly exciting and nothing to do with exercise but your my friends, I finaly got my new Motorcycle this weekend. This is kind of a NSV. As i always have wanted this kind of bike but always felt i was too fat and had to buy cruisers (Steff knows im not much of a cruiser guy). So here she is. i did have to ride it 2hrs in 35F weather but i had so many clothes on it didnt bother me.
  9. Good Evening, Violets.. Just finished stripping the wallpaper from 2 of the 4 walls and have the things taped that I want to start painting tomorrow. I have tomorrow and parts of Tuesday to get as much done as possible before Ethan comes the rest of the week. Church was great today. I was 36 when we left there and now I'm pushing 61. Doesn't seem like that much time has passed. We got to see a lot of the people that were there when we were there and some new faces too. We went out to lunch with some good friends of ours from there and it was like stepping back in time. Instead of it being 24 years, it seems like it was only 24 hours. Tomorrow we get the new car. We're going to miss the truck, but not the gas mileage! Now if we can sell the RV, I'll be really happy. Going to head to bed soon. Everyone sleep well. Oh.. NSV today.. one of the older ladies said... where did you leave the rest of you??? I didn't know what she meant at first, but she was talking about my weight!! It just felt sooooo good to not feel like all eyes were on me trying to guess how fat I was. I really felt like a normal person!! (((hugs everyone!!)))

    Has anyone taken up Bycyling?

Yeah, I know. I asked my daughter to do it! DH isn't allowed! LOL I am also going to take my measurements. I'm sure at some point it will come in handy when I need a NSV. I have some pics in my bedroom of my honeymoon (only 6 years ago) and I actually looked at them. They are my before the Before pictures ya know? What's worse is, I thought I was fat then! So sad. Shame on me. Good example of learning to love yourself and live for today.

    Non-Scale Victories!!

Thanks everyone for posting your NSVs.....here's mine for today.....I went out of the house with a sleeveless tank top on and my daughter wasn't ashamed of having me near her, she even said that I looked great.....coming from my teenage daughter I was pleasantly surprised. I never thought I would see 18 (that's what I am wearing now)and now i am just starting to wear a 16. My goal is to feel good about myself by this summer when my whole family is getting together in Cape Cod. Most have only seen me in a size 24. Keep up the good work everyone.:scared2:

Went shopping and bought 2 more pants in size 20. Thought that maybe the jeans I got two weeks ago were a fluke size 20. Well they weren't these size 20's fit me too. WooHoo!!!:thumbup:

    Nervous

hi, welcome to LBT. the band is a great TOOL, but you do have to work with it. it IS a drastic life change, but think of all the great things that will result in those changes you will have made. look for some threads around here labeled NSV (non scale victory) - crossing legs, fitting in a size 16, fitting in a size TEN, no problems on airplanes, the list is endless. good luck and it truly is worth it.

Thank you Peabody, it was so great! I have not craved any chips today at all. I cannot describe how wonderful it felt, it was almost like I felt like I defeated them in a sense. Sounds like you too had a great NSV, and yes we are so kicking but over here in VV land. I have yet another as a matter of fact! It seems like I am have at least one a day right now. This was is a real kicker, it must have been the sodium from yesterdays "chip episode", but my port site feels a little sore today. Well, I was telling my husband and it is kind of poking out and you can feel it. We were sitting side by side and his arm was around me, so he reaches around from the back way to try to feel it. It was the funniest thing, he rubs his finger along my rib cage and says, "yes, I can feel it!" I started laughing so hard, and I told him, "no, that is my ribcage - I know you have not felt my ribs in a really long time". He started laughing so hard he almost started crying! That was so great! My ribs had been hiding out for about a decade - and my hubby finally noticed for me that they have returned. How great is that!?

My first NSV! Share yours as they happen!

NSV = NON-scale VICTORY! Something that happens as a result of weightloss that is not directly tied to the numbers.....like fitting in to clothes, seatbelt finally fitting, a hug that wraps all the way around.....things like that!! Here's a link to the thread with all of the definitions: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f73/abbreviations-what-they-mean-7959/
  17. NSV... PB... I'm so confused! I'm new to this site and I need an abbreviations guide. Someone help me with all of the board lingo.

*LOL* Watch it, Harleygirl!! Things really ARE bigger here in Texas! But I had to laugh because I had a similar experience with a ring that i never could wear because it was just a bit too tight. When my son had to take a link out of my watch band, I decided to try that ring and .. Whooppeee!! It finally fits! Isn't it funny where we seem to lose weight first? Congrats on your NSV!!!
  21. I am a Silpada Designs rep.......if you're unfamiliar, it's an exquisite line of sterling silver jewelry....a couple of years ago I bought the most gorgeous sterling and pearl watch....and it never fit right. Too tight and just looked silly...I was upset because one, it was expensive...and two, I just loved it! I've noticed my rings are loose, so I decided to try the watch yesterday....AND IT FIT PERFECTLY....hung right at the top of my hand like it's supposed to! Soooooooooo......I have an ass the size of Texas, but my wrists are NORMAL........ Victory comes with winning small battles.....and I'll take a well-fitting wristwatch as a WIN!

    Share your NSV's!!!!!!!!!!

I have two NSV's to share this morning: #1: I am out of town right now, and as I am walking up to sign in to my motel room, there is a surveillance camera monitor right next to you. You can see what they see. It was the weirdest thing, it catches you from the behind view. I looked at it, and immediately thought, "who is that"? I looked behind me and realized, IT WAS ME!!!! How cool is that???? I smiled and realized my ass is sooo shrinking... man that will never get old! LOL!! #2: Ok, what could have turned out to me a major disaster, turned out to be so liberating for me. When TOM calls me, I always fall off the wagon. Well, he's calling and like a zombie, I went straight for the salty chips aisle. I bought a full size bag of Doritos as always. Yes, I can eat a full bag in a matter of two days. Well, I was going for the gusto, and before I knew it almost half the bag was gone. I thought consciously that, I really couldn't even taste the damn things anymore. So, I sat there feeling defeated because so far I've had a freaking good month. I started to feel fear in my heart, because I made a goal of 259 by March 31st, and I am so damn close to making that goal. I immediately took that bag, violently crushed the chips inside and took the bag to the sink, filled it with Water, poured the water out and threw the bag straight in the trash. It felt so good to do that!! Mind you, it had been over three weeks since I'd eaten one solitary chip! Well, I start today with day one (again), but a new sense of relief from this addiction! Woohoo!!

    Has anyone taken up Bycyling?

Hello my people. I didn't even think to put anything but my city and town on my ID. BTW, TX, they make medical ID charms you can add to a charm bracelet. However if you have more than a few issues I don't think they can get all the text on it! I'm not sure what a new rack costs but I'm probably going to be in the market for some too which is uber ironic because I had a breast reduction 5 years ago. But as I get smaller they are simply disappearing. My breasts are now smaller than my girlfriend's. That has never ever happened before in my life, and I've had a few girlfriends, most of whom would be called chesty. NSV? I'd say so. ZZ, You are so funny! I bet you keep people in stitches all the time! BG, The snow, the freaking mother effin' snow! What gives? Apparently is was snowing in Kalamzoo last night. That's just not okay. Ceradad, Cool ride. I have a Giant and love her. Welcome to the Bycyling thread. You will need to get abreveated to a one or two letter name. We have a C, so give us some choices. Happy Friday!

    Small Victories

I had a fun small NSV today......I bought a positively gorgeous sterling silver and pearl watch.....there's no give to the band and only one 'setting'....it's ALWAYS been too tight to wear......I noticed my rings were a little loose, so I tried the watch and it fit BEAUTIFULLY....laid right at the top of my hand like it's supposed to......so while I'm delighted about that....I'm like SERIOUSLY....I have an ass the size of Texas and I'm losing weight in my WRISTS....................but really, I'm very happy that the 15 pounds showed up somewhere!
