My weight has been so slow recently (cry) but I have had a few NSVs I'd like to share. When I went to work out the other day and did the stationary bike I could see between my thighs where as I couldnt' before. I ran on the treadmill for like 3 minutes while still holding a convo Walking out of the Chiro's office I gave my husband a scare because he thought someone else was taking our son. "I saw some thin woman with our son by the hand then realized it was you." Getting my Saturday massage by hubby he said, "Its amazing how everywhere I touch now has bones sticking out." AND I'm shoping totally in the regular section now. I PAID OFF AND CUT UP MY LANE BRYANT CARD! FU LANE BRYANT (excpet your bras )

Couple of my NSV's this week.... Took a minute to check the blood pressure......all is well and I've been off all blood pressure meds for two months now. Was also having early morning coffee. Took me a few minutes to actually wake up....realized that in the dark I'd grabbed an old t-shirt that I'd been saving. Didn't think it'd fit as it's an athletic cut 2XL. Well....it would seem that it fit with room to spare. Made my day start off with a confident feeling. This time last year I as wearing 5xl and 6xl shirts. So damn grateful.

NSVs this week: 1. Had to buy new bras because mine were allowing the girls to escape. 2. Had to buy a new pair of jeans. Mine came off without being unbuttoned or unzipped. Unfortunately, the new ones are already looking baggy. 3. Saw a friend's hubby this week for a sad occasion. I don't see him much, but , when I went to hug my friend's hubby, HE commented on how much weight I've lost. 4. Chopped down and cut up four trees in my new yard. Okay, they weren't huge, but still a lot of work I'd have never been able to tackle before surgery. I got a decent work out, but was able to do the job myself instead of waiting on "some man" to come do the job. 5. In the same vein, I've spent a bunch of time rearranging furniture and crawling on the floor to re-route computer, cable, and printer wires. I'd have NEVER been able to do that 81 pounds ago! Overall, I'm very pleased with my progress!!!

Bill - that NSV is awesome ! ! ! Carolyn - that is exactly what I was thinking when I posted that one. It's not always the numbers on the scale. It's the little victories that feel the best. It's realizing something that never happened before, and thinking "wow, I can actually do that now."

    NSV shout outs

This morning I was getting ready for church. When I came out my husband said "those pants are way too big you need to find another pair." I told him I had just cleaned out my closet of all of the clothes that were too big and that these seemed to fit the best of any of them. He said I needed to hold them to keep them up at church. After church he went to my second closet and brought out two more tubs of clothes and told me to see if I could find some clothes that fit. What a great NSV.

Okay, I have a NSV (and finally a scale victory too). I bought a pair of capris at Sam's last night. Looking at the size 12, I was thinking, "looks like it might run a bit big so I will try the 10". Well I got home and guess what? The 10's are too BIG. I will be taking them back for the 8's this weekend. I realize that this particular brand probably run BIG, but I don't care - the label will say 8. I know I have been sitting right between 10-12 lately, maybe I am finally a real size 10. Woo Hoo!!!! My scale victory - I FINALLY broke my month long stall - down 2 lbs today. Yippee!!!!

Chancie: Picture in that stunning outfit please! That is such a great NSV. I am so happy for you. These shout outs are some of what keep me on track I swear. I love my sleeve. To Doris1970: The pain of all you have been thru all your life being overweightVS Maybe 4 days of pain? ummm yeah you can handle it. I am 63. The sleeve is for seniors too. I had minimal pain. Uncomfortable was more like it. I am going to PM you so we can chat. This thread is for the little victories we are experiencing each day. You will not get alot of the help back that you need here. I don't know if this qualifies as an NSV, but I ate popcorn last weekend and did not try to overeat it, nor did it lead me to start craving other slider foods. (Popcorn is one of the foods that I abused most often when I was obese.) I think if I keep dangerous treats to a minimum, I can learn to eat them occasionally and responsibly.

Major NSV today! I bought a Kia Soul last year and have always felt that the seatbelt plug-in was way too close to my butt. I have pretty much been dealing with it because I felt that I was "too big", so I tolerated it. And dealt with it by making sure I sat as far left as I could. Tonight, driving home from about 50 miles away, I noticed that I kept shifting in my seat. Finally I realized that I have about 2 inches on either side of my boo-tay in the seat and I was shifting because I was sitting too far to the left. So, I moved around and got comfy and the seat belt plug was NOT digging into my tush! I can't wait to see how big the seat gets as I lose weight!!

    Help me! What's NSV?
  17. Fellow Notorious Novembers - Hi! Banded on Nov 17th, had my first post-op checkup and doing well. Weight loss to date is 24 lbs, including 10 pre-op. Things are moving a little slower now that I'm on mushies, and since I'm healing, I don't feel as much restriction. Gotta step up the exercise to keep my weight loss moving at a faster pace (I am trying to lose 10 lbs per month on a regular basis until I reach my goal) and being careful what I eat. So far, mushies have been easy - hot cereal for breakfast, soup or chili for lunch, and a similar dinner. Chicken has gone down easy, haven't tried pork yet, and well-cooked beef is okay as long as I eat very small bites. Tried deviled ham (made ham salad) and that was okay, but sometimes the crackers I like to eat it with cause me trouble... Biggest thing I miss is bread - it doesn't go down very easily, unless it's crackers in my soup or something like that, because they get very soft. Found out I chicken soup! Experimenting with different soups - mostly clear and occasionally with veggies because they are so soft. I miss my protein shakes to a certain extent, because with them I KNEW I was getting my protein in...now I have to plan it more carefully. My latest NSV - wearing a "standard" XL top and skirt from Spiegel - something I NEVER would have tried before my band surgery...

    NSV (Non Scale Victory)!!!

This is sort of a NSV....I can't think of a better thread to put it on and I really wanted to post it... My son's on his way to Sydney for the 2010 Scout Jamboree. Today we packed his bag and his luggage allowance was 23kg. He filled his bag and put it in the boot of the car and was saying how heavy it was and he wouldn't like to carry it very far...that's when I realised.... 5 months into my banded life that's how much weight I have lost - 23kg. I've a long way to go still but I couldn't believe how heavy it was or how far and long I had carried it on my own. To feel the weight of it and be able to understand it rather than it just being a number that was part of me, weight I had to lose or had put on or needed to lose or whatever else that figure has always been in the past. It felt really good to know what it actually felt like, to realise that was how much I was NOT carrying anymore. I really, really, really wanted to tell all the other parents the significance of the 23kg bags they were all helping their Scouts to handle. I know they would just have looked at me without understanding what it meant to me. So instead of telling them I am posting it here to tell you guys as I know you will understand how I felt about it and why it was so important to me. It was like a revelation, a realisation. If you do not know what your loss feels like I would strongly recommend filling a bag with books to match the weight you have lost. If you are struggling or feeling like nothing is moving fast enough it is a real boost to realise how far you have already come and that it is ok to rest a while. Have a safe and happy 2010

    NSV (Non Scale Victory)!!!

Hi! Yesterday I had an amazing NSV! For a"normal" person - not a big deal, but but many of us? You be the judge! After 20 years of not even thinking of trying, I actually got in and took my first bath! It was heavenly! I know, this is not a life altering experience... or is it? I think so! :biggrin2::biggrin2::biggrin2: Katja

    NSV (Non Scale Victory)!!!

Congratulations everyone! Greyhoundmom - I will be shopping at Avenue and Lane Bryant until their smallest size just hangs off of me. I have no clue where else I will shop, as I am not wanting to give my money to the stores that used to turn up their noses at me if I even dared to walk into their stores. I am open to suggestions. Thinking Kohls and Coldwater Creek. My NSV for today was 45 minutes on the elliptical at the gym, 6800 steps and 3.45 miles. The first time I ever even tried the elliptical I was only on for 3 minutes and simply gasping for breath. I can also run up the stairs to "inspect" my messy teenage daughters room. I think being in the dark about the condition of her room might have been better. Have a great rainy Saturday!

    NSV (Non Scale Victory)!!!

Come on, I know there has to be lots of Non-Scale Victories (NSVS) now, let's hear yours!! I had another one yesterday. I discovered my bras just weren't offering the support they used to so I went bra shopping. I've gone from a 42 to a 38!!!

    NSV (Non Scale Victory)!!!

I have seen this thread for days now and just never opened it up. What a mistake that was - I have been missing joyful tears all this time! I am so moved by each and every one of your posts and am so happy for all of you! And I'm happy for me too and just want to share - pretty much the same NSV that the rest of you have reported, but none the less, exciting! 1. I FEEL my husband's arms go around me just a bit tighter and I LIKE that! 2. I have noticed the last week that I have sat in a couple of chairs with arms, like at the doctor's office waiting room, and I SLIDE down into it! Still snug, but I SLIDE!!!! I don't have to fold myself into it. (By the way, I'm crying right now...tears of joy!) 3. People that don't even know I had the surgery are saying to me that I look so happy - if they only knew!!! Thank you so much for sharing you NSV! It's an exciting new life, isn't it?!
  23. Hi Notorious Novembers! I'm doing well - just over a month out from surgery, and healing very well. I did have one incision that seemed slow to heal, but has finally healed up after I wore a band-aid on it for several days in a row. It must be in a spot that is irritated by my bra band or my waistband, I'm not sure which. Weight loss is stuck - down a pound last week to 239, no loss this week. I'm trying not to be too hard on myself, since I haven't had a fill yet and I'm not sure if there is any fluid in my band already. I do feel some restriction when I try to eat too fast or too much. Bread still gives me a little trouble, so I minimize it or chew it to liquid before trying to swallow. :huh2: No trouble with vitamins or medication now - I split my pills for a couple of weeks and did chewable vitamins, but now I'm back to the 'normal' ones. My clothes are getting looser :tt2: - I'm down to a size 18 (comfortably) from my previous high of a 22/24. I'm thinking I'll be in a size 16 before New Year's if this keeps up.:w00t::thumbup: The inches are going, but not the pounds yet. My first fill is scheduled for January 6th. I've got a plan for the holidays that includes a little grazing, but none of the 'eat yourself into a food coma' that I used to do. My employer gives us a recess from Christmas Eve until the Monday after New Year's so I'll be in the gym every day except for Sunday. I want to start the New Year in better shape and I figure 10 days of gym work is just the thing I need. :cool2: It's good to see all the other Notorious Novembers checking in - everyone is doing well and handling their struggles well. You all give me hope and inspire me. The newbies are so full of enthusiasm that it reminds me of why I did this.:wink2: The veterans are full of wisdom and good advice and help me to make it through when I'm struggling. :wink2: I almost didn't post today because I haven't lost anything, but figured someone might need to see that there are NSV's to be had (non-scale victories) and that even small progress forward is still progress forward! :w00t: Happy holidays to all!

Good Afternoon March bandsters! here is my NSV!!!!! Had two people at work ask if I'd been losing weight...No one knows I had the LB surgery. I said "Thanks!, my lifestyle changes are really paying off!" I'm glad someone, besides me, finally noticed! I've been working really hard with this band and a little compliment goes a long way for my motovation. I could kick myself! I never took body measurments before my surgery. I don't fit into my sz 18 pants any longer and the few pairs of 16's are kinda baggy in the waist. The scale hasn't moved in a few weeks, so i'm sure i'm losing inches with all my walking/jogging. Our local "fitness" center has a special for $30.00 a month, all the water aerobics, weight room usage and swimming you want. Thinking about joining for a month to see if I can really find the time to get away from the kids to do this. There isn't a trainer for the weight room, it's all on your own, not sure i would know what to do. Everyone have a GREAT WEEKEND.....let's all get outside and get our bodies moving! The snow is gone and spring has arrived in Northern Michigan!
