    NSV anyone?

I got a great NSV Sunday night when I got home. My sweet son wanted to know how I was doing, with the band. We've been apart since I got my band 10 weeks ago. He said I looked really good, and that my face was full of life, and that I was glowing. Then I had to chase him down the stairs and out the front door, and around the truck. I RAN down the stairs, I RAN around chasing him until we nearly colapsed laughing!

    NSV anyone?

Great job on legs Kare and I'm with Bubbame, my arms would be flapping and would probably be abe to take flight. OK I have 2 NSV's. Last week I tried on my fat jeans that I have not been able to wear in a couple of years. I can zip them and breath at the same time. The next step is sitting in them and breathing at the same time. Also, with 40 pounds gone I was in 2 positions the weekend that I stayed away from because they were not comfortable. Whoooohoooo Ride Em Cowboy!!!!

    NSV anyone?

Since I am not banded, I am not having that easy of a time YET but I do have one- about a year ago, I felt like I would never lose weight. I had lost all hope. I literally threw all of my clothes away. Well, at least I thought I had. I found my favorite pair of jeans that I haven't been able to wear in 9 years (size 16-18) and a favorite sun dress from the same time (a large). Somehow they got put in a box of the kids keep sake baby clothes. I got so excited when I saw them and I thought "COOL! I better wash these up and put them in the closet! I will need these soon." It just occurred to me reading everyones posts that for me that is a NSV. I have hope![]

    NSV anyone?

NSV - non scale victory. Anything that makes you feel really good that has nothing to do with the numbers on a scale. ie.. fitting into a turnstyle with ease, not needing a seat belt extender on a plane. fitting into smaller jeans, having someone whistle at you while you're getting in your car, feeling your hip bones, collar bones, shoulders, seeing things you haven't seen in years..:devious shall I continue? lol

    NSV anyone?

A year ago this Month I had to have carpol tunnel surgery on my wrists. They did the left one first. I had to go to the fire department to get my wedding ring cut off and it left the deepest groove. Hard to believe there was blood getting to the tip of that ring finger. Well when I started to consider this lapband I didn't bother to get ring sized up. Late week when my brother in law got married I saw the ring in the dresser and i tried it on. IT fits.(NSV) AS soon as I lose anther 20 pounds I will get it repaired . I do miss wearing it. You can see in my signature below my other NSV. I am so happy that this is working for me and my family. God bless you all

    Nsv.......

Well I went snowboarding this weekend which was great without carrying an extra 65 lbs but the NSV was when I got on the chair lift....I did not worry about it leaning to one side!!! I was always afraid that the chair would hang low on the side I was sitting on. I would make sure to sit in the middle if at all possible. Not any more! I now weigh less than my husband and kids!!!!!
  11. Checking in... Love all the wonderful stories! NSV's and SV's abound, and it's so good to see all the happy events. Y'all are about to make me tear up for ya! The scale is moving slowly - but since like y'all, the NSV's are coming steadily, it's not a big deal for me like it used to be. I'm amazed at how little food satisfies my body hunger right now - what I used to eat just is way too much, even after cutting the portion size down. I'm trying to make sure I don't drop below 1000 calories, because I don't want to get into starvation mode, and the "sliders" keep calling my name, but I'm doing pretty well overall. I have a new goal - don't know if I posted it here yet or not - we have a family reunion coming up in July, and it will be in Florida. I play to wear a new, hot swimsuit for that reunion, and my goal is to be down 50 pounds by then. I'm close to 30 now, so I think it's doable to lose 20 more in April and May...I'm also going to add the weight work back into my routine at home so I can start building muscle to help tighten up my physique. I know I'm going to have a soft tummy when this is over - there is definately plastic surgery in my future - so my new swimsuit will have a little bit of a skirt in front, but the rest of the suit is gonna leave room for the pow-bang-boom of my new body! Wish me luck!
  12. Hey Notorious Novembers! I haven't posted here in a minute, so I thought I'd check in...I did okay through the holidays and went for my first fill on January 5th. It was kind of a non-event - my doctor doesn't numb the area around the port because he says if he's on his game, I won't have to endure more needle sticks because he'll hit the port correctly the first time. Ooookay...well, he was right - he hit it the first time, so instead of a needle stick for the anesthetic and then another one for the port, I only had one, and he was done pretty quickly. I forgot to ask how much fluid he put in, but he was finished pretty quickly. He gave me some water to drink to make sure I could get it down, and then told me to come back if I was having trouble or my weight loss was slow or non-existent. The day of the fill, I was on liquids, then mushies for a day, and then back to solids. The first few days I felt restriction, and a few pounds came off. The next two weeks, I felt as if I hadn't had anything done and my hunger came roaring back. I was, to put it mildly, disappointed. I struggled through January with no real loss, just up and down the same 2 - 3 pounds. A couple of days ago, I pb'ed for the first time ever - on food that hadn't caused me any trouble a week earlier! It was the oddest feeling - like I had a gas bubble trapped, but when it came up, food came with it. YUCK! :bananalama: The next day, same issue - different food, but something that I had eaten before with no trouble, and I pb'ed again. I've read in other places on the site that sometimes it takes a while for a fill to "catch up" to you, and I'm wondering if that is what's happened to me. I've noticed that I feel more restriction since the two episodes, so I'm hopeful that the weight will start to come off more noticeably. I am down two sizes in my jeans (wonderful NSV) and some of my other clothes are starting to get looser. I can button and zip jackets easily that caused me trouble before surgery, and I'm happy about that. My winter coat is getting too big - I wore it today with another sweater coat underneath (single digit temps here in CT) plus my jacket, pullover and skirt. I'm down a shoe size as well, and feeling pretty good except for the disappointment at no real loss. Hanging in there, though - and my hubby brought me home a rowing machine (he does maintenance at a gym and they were going to toss 3 of their older machines) so I'll be getting that extra workout in. I must admit my workouts have been slack during January, so that's part of my problem with the weight loss. Looking forward to reporting better results at the end of February!:cheers2:

Ohhhh Bernadette congrats on your size 12 ! ! ! As for the quoted portion, I've been at my journey for over 14 months, and still haven't figured out that I'm a size 9 and a medium(sometimes small blouse). I still grab bigger sizes, I still catch myself wondering how that person is who is staring back at my in the mirror. My NSV for this week is that I can now wear an anklet with an extender. I must admit that I have cute feet, and cute ankles. But, before I couldn't wear foot/ankle jewelry beause I had chubby ankles and baby sausages links for toes. Today, I decided to try out some of my old jewelry, and low and behold my little silver anklet, Caysen bought me for Christmas a couple of years ago fit, and actually slid way down past my ankle bone. I can't wait for flip flop, crop pant weather ! ! !

Today is one month since my surgery. I'm down 21 lbs on my scale! My NSV was yesterday and today. I have a few pairs a pants that were my size but just too tight compared to the others. I was able to wear one pair yesterday and just put on the other pair-they feel even better! These are really the first things I can really say I noticed!!!

only three weeks out yet NSV's are all over the place. I need to focus and note them and not take them for granted. I was sitting on a wooden chair at the dinning room table and was uncomfortable, finaly i figure it was because by BFB was so much smaller that the presure on my sitting bones was uncomfortable! go figure. I now have definition over my Quads- never seen that before. Big success was not weighing in for three days now. I find that it plays games with my mind no matter what the number is.

They never end, love the NSV. Yesterday ran into someone involved in one of my kids' activities I hadn't seen in two years, she didn't recognize me, she said-- oh we used to see your son all the time but he was never with you, who was that with him?

Big NSV for me this weekend - Moved both of the boys back to the dorms to start college. Just like last year, we carried all the stuff in, then went to Target to pick up all of the last minute things. Last year, my knees were screaming and my feel were like fat puffy sausages that were threatening to burst at any moment. I didn't dare sit down anywhere because I knew I would never be able to get up and walk back out to the car again. This year....we carried everything in, put it away and then as I was walking through Target I realized something.... I FELT GOOD!! AND HAPPY!!! I had energy and I wasn't hurting anywhere!! We bopped back over to the college and had to run through the rain (ok, well I am still pretty big lol so I maybe more like did this weird loping fast walk thing haha) back into the dorms and finished setting up the rooms. It doesn't really seem like much when I write about it now, but it felt so good!! :nono:

Well here is a NSV for me. . . I'm out of 4X uniforms and 2X fit loosely, what do you think of that. . after my weigh in yesterday, I thought i'd fit the 3X's (i'd been wearing the 4X's cause they were really, really comfy) well the 3X's as the 4X's were too big, so lets try the 2X's they are comfy and just a wee bit big, but i'm not trying the 1X's just yet, I'll wait. . . I love this shrinking thing!

Well, I posted this elsewhere too, but just got back form holiday, and on reflection there were 3 NSVs this week (Much needed as I gained 2lb!). 1 = On a shopping trip I chose a lovely maxi dress, my husband makes me put it back saying "you can't buy that you look like you are a fat person hiding in there, but you aren't, so choose something that shows off your figure please!" - I stood in the store and cried (for a moment hubby was not sure if he'd put his foot in it or not). 2 = We went to the beach on what looked like a cloudy morning, so I didn't pack a swimsuit, by the time we arrived it was boiling, so for the first time EVER I decided to be bold, and sunbathed in just my knickers (they were very nice ones I'd just treated myself to, so why not?), to my surprise, nobody passing by laughed, complained, or said anything unflattering - RESULT! 3 = As someone who is pretty camera shy, I avoid holiday snaps, but the one and only picture of me on holiday is a picture of someone distinctly average (which is a really good thing), I just keep looking at it, and thinking that if I passed the person in that photo in the street, they wouldn't strike me as a particularly big person (not that I walk around critiquing people I hasten to add). I'm getting there - slow and steady wins the race I guess!

Tiffy, I am looking so forward to displacing enough water I can float in the tub! Wow, so great! But tonight in prep for my trip back to MX with my family, I soaked in the bathtub, something I haven't been able to do for a very long time, due to being so very heavy and with 2 knee replacements in 08. But I was able to get in and out gracefully, even knelt on the one knee that was done first to get out and it wasn't so bad as I thought it would be! Not a biggie for an NSV, but I almost cried with relief that I can bathe again and not just shower all the time!

My silly nsv: So when I don't have pockets I often stash my phone in my bra. Today I did that and when I bent over my phone kept falling out! I guess there's more room in there now!

My first NSV is that my hip has not been hurting me since I had surgery. It's amazing what the few pounds I lost on my preop diet and since surgery have done for me. I was having to take a strong NSAID for my hip and another pill to keep the NSAID from messing up my stomach. Now, I don't even need to think about it. My knees feel better too. YAY!

This is a pic of my lap on the airplane last week. No more extentions for me. This is a pic of me in my "new" jeans (bought 6 months ago and never really thought I would be in them. I have NEVER had a "gap" before and about cried when I could see daylight. May be TMI, but had to share w/ people that can appreciate this type of NSV.
