I did not read whole thread but I am 4 years since my revision from band to sleeve and I do not agree that sleeve loses it's effectiveness. It does get harder....for many reasons. I still don't eat the big portions like I used to...

Nervous about Sleeve to RNY revision
Onelife replied to SleeveandRNYchica's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I am curious, why do people have to have a revision from sleeve to bypass? Should I be considering the bypass instead of the sleeve? Thx -
Nervous about Sleeve to RNY revision
Karen B45 replied to SleeveandRNYchica's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I am a sleeve to bypass revision as well. My surgery was last Wednesday, Sept. 23 and my sleeve was in March 2012. I had no problems with the sleeve, and no complications. My sister did the same thing, sleeve and then revision to bypass. She warned me that the recovery for the bypass is harder, and to be honest, I have to say she was probably right. The bypass is more major surgery in that they take something and reroute it. I mean I know that's obvious but.....it does make a difference. Having said that, I havne't had any complications, and I am not at all regretting having it done. There are a lot of things that are the same, the tiredness, etc. I think you will do great, and the complications are just such a small percentage. My surgeon told me afterwards that he was expecting it to be much more difficult than it was, which was nice to hear. The surgery did take about three and a half hours. I also am off work for two weeks, including the surgery. I still feel like Ike I just had major surgery, but I am sure I will be ready to go back in a week. Although most people do say take another week off if you can. The other thing I have noticed....definitely still using my pain medication, but that is more for my incisions than anything. It just seems odd to me that I got on a flight home from Mexico two days after my last surgery, I totally cannot imagine doing that this time. It's just a different recovery. I don't know if that helps? But that has been my experience so far. I think you had messaged me previously, so if you would like to chat more, just let me know. -
Problems eating a yr after post op
James Marusek replied to Missmfp's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That does not sound normal. If you are 18 months post-op, you should be able to consume a cup of food per meal; not just 2 forkfuls of food. I threw your symptoms into the internet and what seemed to pop out was "late dumping syndrome". http://www.bariatric-surgery-source.com/dumping-syndrome.html I am not sure I believe this. It is possible that you might be experiencing problems relating to revisions. One individual in our bariatric support group meeting went from a lap band revision to RNY gastric bypass. Because of the scaring associated with the erosion caused by his band, his new pouch was constructed much smaller than typical. As a result, he was somewhat limited in the volume he could consume at each meal. I have personally found out that softer foods such as chili and Soups go down much easier than harder foods such as steaks. -
I was a band to sleeve revision so they were very conservative. I was cleared for walking shortly post op, but didn't go to the gym until about 6 weeks. I think you should ask your surgeon on this one. On the hydration... sip sip sip... constantly. Eventually this will not be such a chore, but for now, stay hydrated. I know nobody wants to hear this, but excess skin happens. I don't know why some people have more, some people have less (for same weight loss) but truth of the matter is you should focus on losing weight now and not borrow trouble from tomorrow. I lost over 150# and I promise you being trim with some extra skin was much more attractive than being morbidly obese. Hands down. More importanly, I feel so much better not trying to carry that extra weight. If I woke up tomorrow weighing 300#++ I am not sure I could get out of bed. Seriously, I have no idea how I functioned at that weight. Skin is nothing compared to being free of the obesity gorilla. I was one of those people that had trouble with alot of supplements - they made me feel ill to my stomach. I tried lots of different things, I urge you to discuss alternatives with your surgeon/NUT because finding something you can literally stomach will increase the odds of you sticking with them! I am not sure why you are feeling regret, but you should know that rapid weight loss floods the system with hormones... and many people go through a hard time emotionally. That gets better too. I spent lots of time looking at the "before and after" pictures to get me through that time. It was inspiring and took my mind off my internal angst and misery. Hang in there - it probably took me until abotu 10-12 weeks post op to feel fully human, but it has been upward from there! Best decision ever! My sleeve was almost 4 years ago and I am still very happy with my results!

I love my unjury Protein powder. i have all the flavors, inlcuding the unflavored and chicken Soup. I just did the revision from sleeve to bypass and they were trying to get me to change at the surgeons office and I was like....no way, I am keeping what I know and love. What I have discovered this time through that I love and am addicted to for my Water is the Isopure Zero Carb Protein Drink. It has forty grams of protein in it, and tastes really good. It's 20 fl ounces. So I get in part of my water and protein at the same time, which I am really happy about. Anyway, those are my loves so far.

This was my sleeve. Before 242. A few months ago before revision 182 I have since had sleeve to RNY revision on 8/31/15 and lost another 16 pounds so far. I don't have much to lose and revision was due to scar tissue in sleeve causing severe gerd -
I had such bad gerd with the band. Revised to RNY June 23 and havent had it again since. Let me tell you not having Gerd is even better than the weight loss. Sleep is the most precious thing.

Anyone familiar with Dr.Neff NJ ?
NJ mom of 4 replied to Pinkgirl1234's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Dr neff is my surgeon. He performed my Gastric Sleeve in December 2013 and then my revision to Gastric Bypass August 7, 2015. I have been seeing him for over 2 years and he is an amazing Dr. He is patient and kind and will take as much time as you need during your visit, plus if you bring a family member, like one time I brought my mom and at surgery I brought my husband, he also stops and asks them if they have any questions!!! It was absolutely amazing how o see him interact with my mom and put her nerves to rest!!! I absolutely love him and BOTH of my surgeries were great!!! -
Band to Sleeve Revision Leaks?
CowgirlJane replied to gigi14's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
In 2011 when I revised I was told band to sleeve revision risk of leaks was about double that a virgin sleever. So instead of 1-2% risk more like 4%. It's scary business but I am so glad I did it. I don't recall hearing a leak story from a band to sleeve revision on these forums. Lapband people might also need to unlearn some bad habits, like eating sliders, to maximize weight loss. -
GERD is even if it's not listed. At least that is what my NUT told me. I am being revised because of it

Welcome and good luck on your revision approval.

Showing during pregnancy
SleeveandRNYchica replied to Crystal Hobbs's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
I got pregnant 11 months post sleeve and have a healthy 16 month baby girl. I started showing at about 17 weeks. I did not lose weight and have struggled with some late term complications. The surgeon does not know if they are related to my pregnancy or not. I have seen many posts with women who do really well getting pregnant and continue to lose after giving birth. I am having revision surgery this month. Edit to add: I was not at or near goal when I got pregnant. I had lost 43lbs post surgery and gained that back during pregnancy. -
Fantastic Bariatric program. I opted for a Revision - Lap-Band to Sleeve and have had a wonderful experience.

Surgeons in South FL and costs. Self pay!
PrnxSSerenity posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Hi everyone! I need to schedule a revision surgery from the Lap Band to Gastric Sleeve. Unfortunately, surgery wont be covered by insurance so i need to find a surgeon in south florida (miami/ ft lauderdale). Has anyone had the sleeve done is south florida? Who would you recommend and how much did you pay out of pocket? So far i heard about DR. MICHAEL CHOI with Strax Rejuvenation...Anyone have surgery done by him? What are his prices like? BTW- I live out of town but will be doing surgery in s. florida because my family is down there to help me with recovery.-

Looking for friends/support
dream_small replied to dream_small's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Kat! Trust me I understand the wait. But I will say bc of the complications and the time of my last revision band surgery and waiting on insurance to decide if they will pay for it I have learned soooooo much! And I'm thankful that it happened this way bc I'm a lot more prepared this time then I was the first time around. I'm learning to REALLY take it one day at a time. I wanted to have my band surgery so that I could be at a healthy weight to have kids. That was my goal. Well, after losing a little bit of weight and things just going so wrong less than 6 mths after surgery I gave up. Long story short I stopped going to my surgeon and decided to try to have kids first. I got pregnant the first try and ended up with a miscarriage. Then after my dr said it was ok we tried again and got pregnant again. Then miscarried again. Well I couldn't take it anymore and decided to hold off on that and started trying to do what I wanted to in order for me to b happy. And that's where I'm at today -
GERD is awful isn't it? I hope your revision gives you relief from it. Mine is already bad enough.
