    Nsv :)

The other day I was walking to my car and my Diamond engagement ring fell off and went clink clink clink on the ground. My first reaction was pretty normal: "OMG" and started running after it, but then I almost got teary because when I started this journey I was not even able to wear my wedding and engagement rings because I had gotten so heavy, and now they are falling off!! I am going to wait a little longer until I lose more weight and have them resized. I cannot believe I have to have them resized because they are still the same size from when I got married!!! Anyone else have a great NSV? Melissa

    March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD

Hi shamrocks! Lynn: Good to know someone else had the same feeling. Diva: I'm with Christine and Harley.....The scale is a rotten thing. I'm thinking of moving mine because the temptation is starting to get to me. It is in the bathroom. I think I should put it in a closet or something so I only take it out when I am going to weigh myself. enjoylife: Did you get banded in DE? If you didn't use CHRIAS, where did you go? I'm a little unhappy about all the extra fees myself, especially since I paid for surgery myself. I am too far in the process to change now, but I am interested in where you went. Teri: Great news that your scale moved. It sounds like you are doing great with the exercise. I have to admit that I am struggling a bit. I am on liquids for 4 weeks post surgery and have fudge into the mushies a bit. I am trying very hard to figure out when I am really hungry and head hunger. What I am finding is that I am NOT really hungry. I am also struggling with portions. At this point, I am doing OK with the portions, but have been tempted to increase them. When I eat something non-liquid, I have been eating a 1/2 cup or less. Unlike you Fenton, I am getting a fill asap. Even though I am not really overly hungry, I don't want to stretch my pouch. I WANT to feel the restriction, so I am not tempted to overeat. It is the reason I got the band in the first place. I don't overeat sugar free chocolate because of its nasty side effects! I do know that we go back to liquids for a day or two after a fill according to my doc as well. Well, I am looking for NSV and SV next week. Next weigh in is 4/15 or 4/16.

    Has anyone taken up Bycyling?

W, J, BG: Way to go!!! You all rock! HP: Feeling so much better today. I got some sleep last night, and took a nap today. Been up walking around plenty too. So cool about your NSV!!! ~C

    Has anyone taken up Bycyling?

turler, how are you feeling today?? I hope you are taking it easy, but making sure you walk..... It is cold here today. Not any riding but we did some cleaning of the yard and cleaning of the cars....So, I guess that will count. I had a NSV today and am soooo happy! Last year....a size 30/32 was a pant size that I was all too familar with. This consignment shop bought some after market items from MAcy's and had a big sale. I bought pants in size 18 and another in a 20! I was soooooo freakin hyped about it. I cant tell you the last time I saw that!

    Vomit is my friend. =)

Way to go Gibson! I'm so happy to see you back sweetie  And big congratz on losing all the weight . . . keep eating the healthy stuff and you'll be telling all of us those NSV's! I'm glad you have restriction, do you know how many cc's were added to your band?

starting BMI over 50? come on in!

I've seen a fair few females who have weighed more than you so don't worry. It's good you're turning it around instead of going towards 500. I too get envious of people's fabulous weight loss. Mine is good but not outstanding. That's why NSVs (non-scale victories) are so important. It's a mistake to measure out success only in weight. For example, yesterday I went to a beach I wasn't familiar with and went snorkeling. I never would have done that this time last year. I never would have dared.

Yea You MissCathyl. Congrats on getting in a size 16 and even bigger ups on shutting up anybody that laughs at overweight people. K_podski and hopeinapril - thank you for your encouraging words. I too have an obesssion with the scale. I even blogged about it a week or so ago. Maybe after my post op on April 16th I will put it in the shed and only take it out on weekends. I need to start trying to cut back, exercise and take note of my NSVs. Otherwise I may drive myself nuts.

I had a NSV yesterday . My only pair of jeans that fit were in the wash so I asked my neice if I could wear a pair of hers . I wear size 18 she wears size 16 . When I was up stairs trying them on I could hear my neice and her father laughing at the idea that I thought I could fit in her pants . She called up and asked if they fit and when I said they did and came down in them the whole family was shocked that they fit . I then said to my neice "Do you know what this means ? You need to lose weight too. " The pants were a little tight and I had a muffin top but they weren't so tight that I felt uncomfortable in them but tighter than what I normally would wear . The last time I had on a size 16 was when I was 16 .

    First PB!!!

PB- productive burp, preceded by sliming other things you'll see NSV non scale victory DH, DD, DS- Dear Husband, Dear Daughter, Dear Son, etc...
  14. Well it doesn't look like I'll make my 50 pounds by tomorrow :-( Oh well... I did have an NSV today... went to try on some bathing suits at Wal-mart and was able to put on a size 16 bottom and if my legs weren't so ugly I would have said it fit! LOL I did buy a pair of size 16 shorts to wear to work out in, but they're stretchy cotton so I'm not as excited about the size as I was the fact that I could buy something from the "non-plus" section of the store. I feel that 16s should be in my future in the next few weeks... Not too shabby... size 24/26 to 18s in a little over 6 months! I'm in awe...

I happened to be flying back from Vegas on the weekend that all the liquid restrictions went into place. My flight left around 8:30 am, and I had to get to the airport by 4:00 am just to make sure that I could get through security. That was the last time that I have flown but it was adventuresome! By the time I got through security I only had to wait for my flight for less than an hour! Congrats Janet on the HUGE compliment. That will be lots of fun for you and they couldn't have picked a better person. Another NSV! My size 10 jeans are too big! I haven't tried any size 8 jeans yet. I have a couple pair of size 8 dress pants but I seem to be able to wear smaller dress pants than jeans. I might go to the thrift store tomorrow and see if anything fits. It is 50% on Fridays so that is when I go. I refuse to buy many new clothes before PS because they figure I will go down 1 size for certain possibly 2. The doc asked me if I would faint if I was able to put on size 4s after surgery. I said probably...right after I wore them inside out and posted the picture on a bulletin board! Well off to eat dinner. We are having homemade LF coleslaw and crabcakes. MMMMM good!

    Share your NSV's!!!!!!!!!!

That is the funniest NSV, but only because I could completely understand it. Mine probabley shaves 50 lbs off. I just couldn't ever bring myself to change it.

    Share your NSV's!!!!!!!!!!

I have become much more regular since I have lost so much weight. As an added bonus, if I have plateaued, I always begin to drop again once I get my visit. I'm almost beginning to look forward to them! LOL As an added NSV, today my 21 year old son was in the kitchen with me and I was standing with my side to him. He said, "Mom your front is becoming much more uniform" (his word for flat! LOL) Seems like I'm losing my tummy! My husband also mentioned recently that my boobs now stick out more than my stomach! Yeah!!!! :huh2:

Yeah, the whatever... cioppino?? Was great! And yes, I remember those days... like my daughter last night. Dinners came with soup OR salad and she wanted both. She wanted clam chowder, but she also wanted the salad with ranch dressing. So she told me not to order ala carte (which the waitress had gotten permission to do for me) because she would eat my salad. So she had all that, and some bread, and her fish and chips, and then she was in the BR w/cramps, ETC like 3X before we left the restaurant... no gall bladder + fried food...plus rich clam chowder...lots of cream and butter in it I"m sure.. and she already was not feeling well... sinus thing going on... so she was miserable when we left the restaurant. Yeah, I used to do things like that!! Sorry you are having such drama in your life!! Sounds like our oldest daughter! She is having teenage problems with an almost 18 yr old. They went to a movie together last night. Then they got in a big fight over something stupid. So she "moved out" , but then her friend called at like 1 a.m. because she was taking DGD to ER with severe back pains & 102 fever, etc! So she was at the ER with her all night and now she's back home. She has to take her at 9 p.m. tonight for an MRI of her back!! I'll tell you what I keep telling her... "this too will pass"!! Sometimes when I want to really get her attention, I remind her of something SHE did to ME when she was a teenager!! Congrats on the shopping NSV!! Thanks, Linda! NO cable, satellite signal or antenna signal here, BUT we do have free Wi-Fi. They must have improved it since we were here in Nov because then I could only get the signal when we were parked in front of the office. It's good and strong at our RV site tonight! So here I am again!! We're going to be watching old recorded stuff on our TiVo tonight. And we're having a special bottle of wine for DH's 65th birthday today. Good suggestions!! FIGHT! FIGHT!! FIGHT!!! NO COOKIES So glad you finally got some good news... found the right person, got the right answers!! That's wonderful!!

6 mo Bandiversary - My Story

congrats! I'm so glad its has worked for you! it really gives me hope! a few questions though what is "pb'd & slimed" and nsv? kim
  21. Yesterday was my six month bandiversary and I wanted to share a few of my thoughts on my journey so far. This is for all the 'researchers' out there who scan these boards while trying to decide if the band is for them and for all of those newly banded who want to know what to expect. Note: this is my personal experience - I know that everyone is different. 1) I was a self-payer, on a whim, it was less than 3 weeks from my initial call and surgery. I do not regret it or the $$$ spent. I was also not required to do liquid diets etc. 2) I started at 222 pounds (5'4")and lost weight at every fill appointment. I did go 6 weeks with a plateu but NEVER a gain, unbelieveable. I have lost 34 pounds in 30 weeks. 3) I have never PB'd, slimed or thrown up - thankfully 4) I have the ability to eat what I want with no issues, just much smaller amounts - this is amazing, as I have not had a binge but been able to satisfy a craving if need be with just a bite. 5) I am still on the illusive search for that ultimate sweet spot. I am at 8.5cc in a 10cc band. Dr is happy with my weightloss and has offered to do the next fill under flor to ease any concerns that I may have about slippage. 6) Even with no sweet spot I am really thrilled with my ability to eat less. I had to learn the difference between STUFFED and Full and Not Hungry, in the past I tried to always be STUFFED, eating large meals and then snacking 1 hour later, now I know what satisfied is and that it a blessing. 7) My scars are barely noticable 8) Fills are no big deal at all - and I hate needles 9) Exercise is coming into my life and I am enjoying it. I have not done anything on a regular basis so it has not played a role in the weight loss. I know that I need to step up as the next six months will require more diligence. 10) I have travelled the world for business and to Hawaii and Mexico for pleasure and made it through the holidays with the band. Never an issue and never a concern, it has been easy. 11) I have given up beer and soda of any kind, of course the dr recommended it but I also read the carbonation leads to cellulite (I need all the help that I can get) so it has been out of my life for six months and I can not believe how easy it has been. I have begun to 'appreciate' wine and that has contributed to my slower loss, oh well. 12) The NSV's are too many to mention - but come to me on a weekly basis and affirm my decision to get the band. I worked myself into a frezy seeing all of the major losses from people on this board, it took a while for me to be happy for them (you) and realize that I am on my own journey and that we are all successful in our own way. I could not be more thrilled with the process and the support I have been given from all of you on LBT. Here is to another 6 months of losses!!! Tina

    Non-Scale Victories!!

My NSV this week is crazy. I posted a pic in the beginning, of me in a Mets jersey and you can see how tight it was. Well yesterday, went to Opening Day, no photo though, and was able to have a turtleneck sweater on underneath and still button the jersey up and move around in it. Not to mention, not being wedged in the seat this season either.

    Non-Scale Victories!!

My newest NSV's I had 3 different guys tell me how nice I looked yesterday, 2 of which I don't associate with all the time. Today I'm wearing a pair of misses 16 sized pants. I bought them about a week and a half ago and they were tight. Now they are just right... but the scale hasn't moved. So weird??

    Non-Scale Victories!!

Fairysaddle - those ARE GREAT NSV's!!! You are doing AWESOME!!! :-) Ang - I didn't post back here but I did on my blog, he was in the slammer :-) I did hear from him on Tuesday, did his taxes (he didn't pay me yet) and then haven't heard from him since - so things were back to good, and now not anymore....I got used for my Turbo Tax LOL!!! Needless to say his number got deleted AGAIN...I just don't have the patience for B/S!!! He should have just left me alone to begin with but I guess he didn't want to pay H&R block! Creeps...eh, having a great week otherwise! How is everybody???
