    NSV shout outs

I have an NSV I'm excited to share. Yesterday I went to the store to return some things and while there, I saw some jeans I liked. I had some issues with pants since I've lost everywhere except my hips and tummy. I worked up the courage to try on but had no idea what my size is now after losing close to 50 lbs. I selected a range from 16-12 and took them into the dressing room. Size 16, too big, size 14, baggy and I finally ended up in a size 12. To my amazement!! Of course I bought those puppies because they fit perfectly!! These little NSVs are my "rocket fuel" to keep on going on my weight loss program. Still have 35 pounds to lose.

"for the first time in 3.5 years, I literally fell asleep in my love's arms." Tiff, that brings tears to my eyes, it such a sweet, sweet NSV. The best I've ever heard. Nothing trivial about it, just the opposite. The journey you have been on is so remarkable. You should write a book; I am sure it would be successful. Soak up the love, Tiff...and enjoy! And thanks for sharing your personal journey.

    NSV shout outs

Woot! I haven't been on in awhile, but congrats on all of those great NSVs! I graduated from college this past Saturday, and at our graduation practice, I had two classmates (neither of whom has seen me since at least December, and I got sleeved in Jan.) make comments. And this was with my gown on. One said, "Wow, Randi! You look amazing! How much weight have you lost?!" And I just said "a lot." :lol0: And the other girl (a SKINNY girl) said "Holy crap, Randi! You're like half the size you were before. You look awesome! How are you doing that? Just eating better?" And I said..."yep" hahaha. :001_tt2: I love when other people notice. Makes it all feel much more real.

    NSV anyone?

This is a gi-normous NSV. I haven't used my inhaler in five whole days! As many of you know, I have terrible acute and chronic asthma. Five days before my band installation, I had to be taken to the ER via ambulance. My asthma was one of the main reasons I got the band, that whole prospect of death by resperatory failure just didn't apeal to me. (..."I want a death by misadventure, wanna be in a bus that crashes into a train, just like Ozzy Ozborn! I wanna death by misadventure. Got no deathwish, suicde is bogus, this practical dude has some years to go!" (http://www.bobrivers.com/audiovault/tunes/tunes.asp?Var=D It is 7th one down "Boys! turn that "Guns and Butter" down! ) My book bag doesn't seem as heavy as it was before I was banded. (and I do almost all my walking with that bookbag) It doesn't hurt to stand at the sink when I do the dishes anymore. I believe it is because I can get closer to the sink because my tummy is smaller. I've lost an inch from my waist! Speaking of inches lost, I've lost a total of 23 from my entire body. CORRECTION! I didn't loose 43 inches, I lost 23 inches. I fat-finged, type-oh, wishful thinking, PEBKAC, I/O error... and the list goes on.

    NSV anyone?

O.K., this is a silly NSV, but my DH and I were in Walmart (where else?) getting dog food. We couldn't reach some on the top shelf. So I climbed in the bottom shelf far enough to push them forward enough to reach. I was laughing and said I couldn't have done that 56 pounds ago. Right there in the middle of Aisle 18, my DH just smiled and gave me the biggest old hug. Have I told you I love this guy!

    NSV anyone?

I have a non-band NSV... I was driving with my mom to Salt Lake City recently and we passed a fenced pen with 4 horses in it. The pen was VERY small (maybe the size of my living room) and all the horses were standing knee deep in mud. I saw that driving in both directions (to and from SLC) and was disgusted each time. When I got back home I decided to call that counties sheriff department, gave them directions so they could check it out. I got a call a few days later and they agreed the conditions were deplorable and they were taking action to remove them. Ends up they had been in that condition for the last 6 months or so and the sheriff was amazed a neighbor never reported it. I can't believe I was able to help save those poor horses. I'm so proud of myself that I took action. I have very little faith in the "system" and really didn't think anything would come of my calling and I was so glad to hear otherwise. Teresa

Okay, went to the fill forum for research. Based on the owners manual for the lapband, I am way overdue for a fill based on my progress and eating. So it is decided! I am going to make an appointment on Monday to get a fill as soon as possible. It has been over four months since my last one, so I don't think it will be an issue on getting one. Maybe even an aggressive one. I keep telling myself that they only do them under flouro, so I am not too concerned with an unfill any longer. I'm going to run with this logic and see how it pans out. Also, a couple of NSV's to share. 1) I was at Walmart grocery shopping when I asked a gentleman where I could find yogurt covered raisins. He looked and looked and looked, but they just don't carry them. He finally said, "Well, as healthy as you look, I know you want exactly what you are asking for. I'd try Tom Thumb." I told him that saying I look healthy was the best compliment I'd ever received! And it's TRUE! It feels good to know that it meant so much to me. It's confirmation that I am not just doing this for asthetics. The asthetics are the gravy! 2) I took my measurements today and I lost half an inch off my bust (which I really think came from further fat loss in my back), half an inch off my hips, an inch off my abdomen...and I GAINED a half an inch in each bicep! (All other measurements were identical to January 15th.) So while I didn't lose as much as I like, I'm happy that I gained in my biceps, lost where I did, and happy that I didn't gain where I shouldn't.

No, you are right...I have no shame when it comes to lifting. (I will post more on that next, though!) That made me laugh when you said your arms and legs would fall off! Then I thought that about myself when it comes to the elliptical! Funny...that used to be my fave, now I don't go near it. How exciting on your NSV's! But with all the gear you guys can load onto a belt, that has to be a pain in the tucas, too! I'm sure you are only too happy to comply, though! I'm proud of you! Congrats! Oh, Karey! That is so great! I was praying for that! Now when will they be sentenced? You are starting to finally get some closure around this, which has GOT to be a relief.

    NSV anyone?

I got a great NSV Sunday night when I got home. My sweet son wanted to know how I was doing, with the band. We've been apart since I got my band 10 weeks ago. He said I looked really good, and that my face was full of life, and that I was glowing. Then I had to chase him down the stairs and out the front door, and around the truck. I RAN down the stairs, I RAN around chasing him until we nearly colapsed laughing!

    NSV anyone?

Great job on legs Kare and I'm with Bubbame, my arms would be flapping and would probably be abe to take flight. OK I have 2 NSV's. Last week I tried on my fat jeans that I have not been able to wear in a couple of years. I can zip them and breath at the same time. The next step is sitting in them and breathing at the same time. Also, with 40 pounds gone I was in 2 positions the weekend that I stayed away from because they were not comfortable. Whoooohoooo Ride Em Cowboy!!!!

    NSV anyone?

Since I am not banded, I am not having that easy of a time YET but I do have one- about a year ago, I felt like I would never lose weight. I had lost all hope. I literally threw all of my clothes away. Well, at least I thought I had. I found my favorite pair of jeans that I haven't been able to wear in 9 years (size 16-18) and a favorite sun dress from the same time (a large). Somehow they got put in a box of the kids keep sake baby clothes. I got so excited when I saw them and I thought "COOL! I better wash these up and put them in the closet! I will need these soon." It just occurred to me reading everyones posts that for me that is a NSV. I have hope![]

    NSV anyone?

NSV - non scale victory. Anything that makes you feel really good that has nothing to do with the numbers on a scale. ie.. fitting into a turnstyle with ease, not needing a seat belt extender on a plane. fitting into smaller jeans, having someone whistle at you while you're getting in your car, feeling your hip bones, collar bones, shoulders, seeing things you haven't seen in years..:devious shall I continue? lol

    NSV anyone?

A year ago this Month I had to have carpol tunnel surgery on my wrists. They did the left one first. I had to go to the fire department to get my wedding ring cut off and it left the deepest groove. Hard to believe there was blood getting to the tip of that ring finger. Well when I started to consider this lapband I didn't bother to get ring sized up. Late week when my brother in law got married I saw the ring in the dresser and i tried it on. IT fits.(NSV) AS soon as I lose anther 20 pounds I will get it repaired . I do miss wearing it. You can see in my signature below my other NSV. I am so happy that this is working for me and my family. God bless you all

    Nsv.......

Well I went snowboarding this weekend which was great without carrying an extra 65 lbs but the NSV was when I got on the chair lift....I did not worry about it leaning to one side!!! I was always afraid that the chair would hang low on the side I was sitting on. I would make sure to sit in the middle if at all possible. Not any more! I now weigh less than my husband and kids!!!!!
  23. Checking in... Love all the wonderful stories! NSV's and SV's abound, and it's so good to see all the happy events. Y'all are about to make me tear up for ya! The scale is moving slowly - but since like y'all, the NSV's are coming steadily, it's not a big deal for me like it used to be. I'm amazed at how little food satisfies my body hunger right now - what I used to eat just is way too much, even after cutting the portion size down. I'm trying to make sure I don't drop below 1000 calories, because I don't want to get into starvation mode, and the "sliders" keep calling my name, but I'm doing pretty well overall. I have a new goal - don't know if I posted it here yet or not - we have a family reunion coming up in July, and it will be in Florida. I play to wear a new, hot swimsuit for that reunion, and my goal is to be down 50 pounds by then. I'm close to 30 now, so I think it's doable to lose 20 more in April and May...I'm also going to add the weight work back into my routine at home so I can start building muscle to help tighten up my physique. I know I'm going to have a soft tummy when this is over - there is definately plastic surgery in my future - so my new swimsuit will have a little bit of a skirt in front, but the rest of the suit is gonna leave room for the pow-bang-boom of my new body! Wish me luck!
  24. Hey Notorious Novembers! I haven't posted here in a minute, so I thought I'd check in...I did okay through the holidays and went for my first fill on January 5th. It was kind of a non-event - my doctor doesn't numb the area around the port because he says if he's on his game, I won't have to endure more needle sticks because he'll hit the port correctly the first time. Ooookay...well, he was right - he hit it the first time, so instead of a needle stick for the anesthetic and then another one for the port, I only had one, and he was done pretty quickly. I forgot to ask how much fluid he put in, but he was finished pretty quickly. He gave me some water to drink to make sure I could get it down, and then told me to come back if I was having trouble or my weight loss was slow or non-existent. The day of the fill, I was on liquids, then mushies for a day, and then back to solids. The first few days I felt restriction, and a few pounds came off. The next two weeks, I felt as if I hadn't had anything done and my hunger came roaring back. I was, to put it mildly, disappointed. I struggled through January with no real loss, just up and down the same 2 - 3 pounds. A couple of days ago, I pb'ed for the first time ever - on food that hadn't caused me any trouble a week earlier! It was the oddest feeling - like I had a gas bubble trapped, but when it came up, food came with it. YUCK! :bananalama: The next day, same issue - different food, but something that I had eaten before with no trouble, and I pb'ed again. I've read in other places on the site that sometimes it takes a while for a fill to "catch up" to you, and I'm wondering if that is what's happened to me. I've noticed that I feel more restriction since the two episodes, so I'm hopeful that the weight will start to come off more noticeably. I am down two sizes in my jeans (wonderful NSV) and some of my other clothes are starting to get looser. I can button and zip jackets easily that caused me trouble before surgery, and I'm happy about that. My winter coat is getting too big - I wore it today with another sweater coat underneath (single digit temps here in CT) plus my jacket, pullover and skirt. I'm down a shoe size as well, and feeling pretty good except for the disappointment at no real loss. Hanging in there, though - and my hubby brought me home a rowing machine (he does maintenance at a gym and they were going to toss 3 of their older machines) so I'll be getting that extra workout in. I must admit my workouts have been slack during January, so that's part of my problem with the weight loss. Looking forward to reporting better results at the end of February!:cheers2:

    NSV shout outs

Ohhhh Bernadette congrats on your size 12 ! ! ! As for the quoted portion, I've been at my journey for over 14 months, and still haven't figured out that I'm a size 9 and a medium(sometimes small blouse). I still grab bigger sizes, I still catch myself wondering how that person is who is staring back at my in the mirror. My NSV for this week is that I can now wear an anklet with an extender. I must admit that I have cute feet, and cute ankles. But, before I couldn't wear foot/ankle jewelry beause I had chubby ankles and baby sausages links for toes. Today, I decided to try out some of my old jewelry, and low and behold my little silver anklet, Caysen bought me for Christmas a couple of years ago fit, and actually slid way down past my ankle bone. I can't wait for flip flop, crop pant weather ! ! !
