Hey bandsters! It is so exciting to see that people are getting banded and losing weight. I was banded 2/22/08 and got my first fill on 4/3/08. I have lost 23 lbs so far (without a pre-op diet). The doctors seem pleased but I know I need to up my workouts. I am going on a cruise in 3 weeks and haven't met my first goal. I wanted to hit onederland by that date. I have only lost 2 pounds in the last 3 1/2 weeks. I have been told to come back in for another fill asap so I will do that soon. Hopefully that will get me back on track. Anyway, I wanted to share something. I have been a major choco-holic for years. Yesterday I was cleaning out my pantry and found some Ghirardelli chocolate chips. I ate a couple and they just didn't taste the same!!! Yippee!! I have been praying for this! I know chocolate goes down just fine and that concerned me so you can imagine my elation when it was no big deal. Normally, I would have eaten half a bag or the whole thing. I would definitely call that a non-scale victory. Also, I seem to be motivated by the fact that word got out about my WLS and I feel that I need to prove to everyone that this was worth it and the most wonderful thing I could have ever done. I don't want to disappoint my husband or myself either. My carpel tunnel has already gotten better, hey, so have my knees! Now if I can just get to my sweet spot, I will be even more in love with my band. I don't know about you but I could use a Phx Bandsters Meeting soon. I can't wait to hear your motivation or NSV's. Thanks!

Ya'll - I may be completely nutz! I am so excited about this NSV. It may be a bit "out there", but I was actually able to "wipe" today without feeling like I was ripping out back muscles or being out of breath! Whoohoo! I turned and boom - there I was - no effort at all...I can't believe it. I can't tell you how many YEARS it has been since I was able to do that.

Fabulous Boo-Boo! Congratulations on your pics, and this NSV. You do all lap-banders proud!

Boo Boo, You look fab-fab! Congrats on getting your pic at the top. NSV for sure!!!

LOL! I hate that weight needs to be on there. I can understand the need, but really. It fluctuates so often and people lie about it anyway...why bother! But, that's an awesome and quirky NSV!

An Open Letter to my Bathroom Scale-
ReadySteadyGo replied to ReadySteadyGo's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Update on the scale- I haven't weighed myself since I wrote that originally. I guess I will see at the Dr.'s office. But I keep reminding myself that the scale doesn't matter. My health does. So I am going to focus on NSV. They have just slowed down. But I will go in for my first fill FINALLY on the 17th. Oh and Gibson- Its still dead. I ripped its batteries out. -
That is for sure and as I lose the weight I have to remember that I don't need to buy 10 new outfits in a new size as they likely won't fit soon (I've not yet lost that much to change a whole lot where I'm needing to buy a lot more yet - still at the stage where some of my clothes are too big but others are just fitting better). Fantastic NSV's! I bought tickets to a concert in August and I hope I am down a good chunk of weight by then because I remember the last concert I went to at that venue my ass didn't really fit in the chairs at all (granted I've lost like 40lbs since then anyways... that was like 6 or 7 yrs ago) and I want to be comfortable and have fun! Keep up the awesome job everyone!

Deb24 - Yes, I feel stalled too. Just hoping the fill on Thursday will get me back on track to loosing wght again. I am tired of hovering between 180-185. It will tickle me to death when I get in the 170's and stay there for a while! Sue - Way to go. I am so happy for you. You had so many NSV's while on your vacation. You are a inspiration! Jenney - Hello. sorry about the band problems. Wow, that was a new one on me. Never heard of something like that happening. I am trying to be so much more careful with my band now. I used to not mind PBing because I thought that I was getting rid of calories. After what happened to Manatee - I try and keep all my food down. (His pulled back through itself i think).Any way, nice to meet you and hope you do well and get reinspired! Metal band - 64lbs is terrific. You relly don't have that far to go. I still have 30-40 to go myself. maybe we will get it done in the coming year! Melissa - Thanks for encouraging all of us. If I was as dedicated as you with the gym and water and eating right. I would have lost so much more. You inspire me too! Weazer

Yeah I gotta say, that must be an awesome NSV. The poster child for the lap-band forum. You deserve it though!!

Can you believe it has been 7 months already?! It has been harder than I thought it would be, but the results are worth it! Some of my NSV's are being able to wear clothes in the teen sizes again and I started running. How is everyone else doing?

Anyone wear skirts now but didn't before??
Fanny Adams replied to Christal's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Oh god, to wear a skirt or a summer dress! *dreams* I can't sit comfortably with my knees together yet, and haven't been able to for years - not sure I even remember how! I've tried a few dresses but I look like a sausage tied up in the middle and SO uncomfortable when sitting. Can't wait for that NSV!! -
Wow!!! Clothes getting bigger is definitely a good thing--but sometimes it makes our wallets get smaller...:huh2:! My new NSV's this week are -I went to a stadium and fit into the chairs that this time last year dug into my legs!!! -My...ahem....underwear are getting to big and becoming a pain in the you-know-where......lol:scared2: -I fit into a dress that I haven't even been able to get on in 4 years! Yeah us!!! Congrats everyone! This site is what keeps me motivated!

I had a new NSV this weekend. I fit into size 22 jeans. The scale, it sure isn't moving for me, but knowing the I am in jeans a size smaller is helping!! ~Amy

Hi, I've been reading your board, and what is an NSV?
StarbuxQueen replied to LindaD's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
NSV: Non-scale victory -- a weight-loss achievement that has little to do with numbers From the home page click on freq. asked questions. From that page they have abbreviations. Good luck -

NSV means non scale victory. The scale may not go down, however your clothes fit better or some measure themselves and see how many inches they have lost. Good luck with your band!!!:smile2: -

LindaD posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hello, I'm Linda. I don't have a band yet but am pursuing it. I've been reading a lot on your board and it makes me feel even more confident that the band is the right choice for me. I hope you don't mind me asking stupid questions every now and then. My first one is what is an NSV? I hope to be hanging around here regularly, if you'll have me. I've been looking for a good WLS message board for some time now (I just can't get into the format at Obesity Help and I like and am familiar with vBulletin which is what this board is built on). By way of intro, I am 43, married, with 5 children. My brood is made of all girls and they range in age from 3 to 24. Nice to meet all of you. -
March Bandsters - Mini Goals & Rewards?
HarleyGirl replied to whimsy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
This is sort of a reward AND an NSV..... I JUST BOUGHT VICTORIA SECRET PANTIES...........and they fit! I've always loved to look at the pretty colors and cute styles, but have always had to retreat to Lane Giant for panties......now I have cute "PINK" panties......AWESOME! -
My first NSV! Share yours as they happen!
JDUB0414 replied to HarleyGirl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Congrats Harley, Jen, Hungry, those are great NSV. I had one today. My husband is a pretty big guy, but for the last few years I've weighed more than him...so when I would put his shirts on, they would be kinda snug. Well today I put one on and it fit be like a gown, it hung off my body and not snug to it. -

hungry4help replied to HarleyGirl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
congrats, harley! "downgrading" from morbid to severe is one of my mini goals, too. today's nsv: i started putting aside several big black sweaters and other winter clothes that are too loose. i figure (hope) that they'll be of no use to me by next winter. can't wait to drop them off at the goodwill/salvation army! in other news, i caught myself crossing my legs the other day. i haven't been able to do that comfortably in a year or two. yay me. -
That's an AWESOME NSV! How exciting! It's the little things like that, that make this journey so worth it!

What a great NSV!! I can't wait to be a skinny Minnie too!
