    Constipation?????

No worries, glad to help I was given a heads up by my nutritionist that it might be an issue, so it was about 3 days before I decided I needed to take some action. Even now, my bowel movements are a lot less (even though I am eating a lot more veggies than I was before), so if I go a couple of days with out any action, I have some benefiber and its all sorted with in a couple of hours....

You've Got To Be Kidding Me!

I chose a female OB with my first baby because I thought it would be better to have a woman. She quit 6 weeks before my due date and I had to change doctors. I am so glad she did. I found a doctor that was 10X better than her because of it and HE was a man. Best wishes!

    Surgeon Consult On Weds =)

Took the time to jot down my 3 day food diary this morning. I'm excited to meet with the bariatric team and surgeon this morning. Not sure I have an appetite for breakfast. LOL I will be sure to keep you all posted on how things go.
  7. I have a bag each of mens size XL / 107 and ladies size 24-26 clothing to give away to any local bandsters who'd like to come and have a look / take them off my hands. I am not keen to bother with postage, but will consider it if you are prepared to cover the costs yourself, and are in desperate need of something to wear. If you'd like to have a look - please send me a personal message (PM) by APRIL 15 2007. It's first in, best dressed (literally! LOL!). I have also advertised this at band2gether.net , and will be asking round at my local support network, so it's first in, best dressed (literally, LOL!). If I haven't got any takers by the 15th April, I'm taking the lot down to our Church's Op Shop in Chelsea. There's enough in each bag (especially the ladies' bag) to kit someone out for work & weekends as you melt down through the sizes. I've chucked out any rubbish - all the things in these bags are pretty much in new or near-new condition. Some of the ladies things are BRAND NEW, with the store tags still attached. I am too lazy to try and sell the stuff on ebay, LOL! There'll be more of the ladies clothes to come in a few more weeks. In the ladies size 24-26 bag there is, for example: several pairs of shorts several pairs of long dress pants several tops suitable for work a few t-shirts several tank tops (great for working out!) dress jacket (black) suit (plum colour) - jacket and long skirt casual jacket (camel) at least 4 lovely cotton / linen skirts for work 3 or 4 summer / party dresses satin PJ's (really warm) 2 or 3 lacy nighties In the mens size XL / 107 bag there is, for example: several short sleeve cotton shirts and t-shirts 1 or 2 Rivers long sleeved shirts double breasted dress suit, with matching tie and pocket handkerchief black cotton cargo pants Cantebury long sleeved polo / jumper Good luck, and enjoy! Cheers, Anna.

Week one of Pre op-diet finished!

What a week! Last wednesday I started my pre-op LSD. No more than 50g of carbs a day and only 1 solid meal a day. A challanging task. First day wasn't too terribly bad. Day 2 and 3 were rough. My body was going through major carbohydrate withdrawls. My mind wanted somthing more than just liqiud to eat. I can finally say that after 1 week of this diet I feel GREAT! I have more energy than ever and I am already down 11lbs. My band date is March 10th. I am nervous but looking forward to continuing my weightloss journey.

    Eating too much

I had the same problem after having a sleeve after a band. A year later and I only lost 18lbs. I just had a plication over my sleeve and can finally et the small meal I expected. I am 3 weeks out and have not lost what imhoped for but I know I will be fine.
  10. Sex was never a problem for me. I’m just wondering how long did you guys wait to start having sex again. I’m 3 days out, probably to soon...
  11. So I am officially 2 weeks post-op today. Thought I'd share my experience for those interested. We'll start with the stats. I've lost 18 lbs since the surgery, and 64 lbs since I started this process 8 weeks ago tomorrow. The surgery apparently went very well, doctor said it was one of the smoothest he'd had. There was awful pain post-op that lasted about 5 hours. It really was bad, probably the worst pain I've ever experience. It quickly subsided after that, and I have really had a pretty easy time with it since. I went home the day after surgery, and began adding Protein shakes and Water on day 2 post-op. Things went well, and I was able to get my required 60 grams of protein and 64 oz of water almost right away. The afternoon of Day 8, for what seemed to be no reason, I started feeling very nauseated, and extremely tired. By Day 9, I could not stomach the thought of Protein Shakes of any sort (which I absolutely hate since surgery BTW). Day 9 consisted of me just basically just getting in my water, and even that was a struggle. By mid afternoon I was feeling so horrible, and I thought I was having the beginnings of a panic attack. I was sweaty, dizzy, and felt like I was going to pass out. I decided to take my blood pressure out of curiosity, and it was 98/45. I was obviously a bit freaked out, and called the doc. He speculated that it was most likely that I had lost so much weight so fast that I was probably over-medicated now for my high blood pressure. I was taking 10mg of Amlodopine and 100-25 of Losartan-HCTZ. He had me stop the Losartan completely, and take half of my Amlodopine starting the next morning. I felt better (but not great) on Day 10, but by Day 11, I was 100% back and feeling great again. I had started a tiny bit of applesauce on Day 9, tried yogurt, but could not stand the taste. Day 11, I added in cottage cheese, and Day 13 started with some roasted sweet potatoes. food has been absolutely no issue whatsoever. With the exception of the BP issue, nothing has made me nauseous, and while I have no sense of hunger, I also have no sense of feeling full. I actually find the process frustrating as I feel I am trying to sort out quantities, frequencies, etc by myself. And while it's going very smoothly, I have a lot of self-doubt about rather I'm "doing it right." My doctor does not give quantity guidelines as he feels it varies so much from person to person. He also does not give calorie guidelines as he doesn't care about calories as long as people are putting the "right" foods in their bodies (I know this is VERY different from most). I reached out to the BariatricPal community and asked to see what their doctors recommended in regards to quantity, which has been helpful. I saw that there were recommendations not to exceed 4 oz per meal, so I have been sticking with that, but I can definitely eat 4oz of cottage cheese with no problem at all. Never get a sense of fullness (again, I'm also never hungry), never feel back pain/pressure, or pain/pressure in my chest or any of the other symptoms I hear about. All in all, I consider myself very lucky. Things have gone as close to perfect as possible. Even the blood pressure issue, while unpleasant, is exactly what I was hoping to get from the surgery. And while the food re-introduction is stressful for me, it couldn't be going better. Just thought I would share my experience to-date for those who maybe going through the same thing, or about to be! EDIT: Oh yeah, and I forgot to mention, I'm only about 7 lbs away from not being morbidly obese for the first time since I can remember (probably at least 15 years). He's to being severely obese (for now)!

    Family disclosure time

Good for you! I too struggled with telling my parents. I told them 3 days before my surgery! My mom totally understood, her and her whole side of the family is overweight. But even though my Dad has had up and down times with his weight, he's more of the mind set, "Just be active and eat less." Yeah....cuz I haven't tried that!! I actually emailed my parents and told them. I was really chicken! And I told my Dad, even though I didn't expect him to accept it, I wanted NO judemental comments from him at all. Much to my surprise, I got just the opposite from him. He texted me the morning of surgery, called to check on me and even came on his own to the hospital to see me. If you knew our past relationship, this was a BIG thing for him to do and it meant the world to him. The couple weeks after surgery when I was so sick and regretting having the surgery, I was afraid to even utter those words to my parents for fear they'd say, "I told you so..." But nope, all I got was support. It really made getting through that stage a lot easier!! Good luck with your surgery!! It sounds like you for sure have your Dad in your corner!
  13. What I got from your post(s) is that simply giving everything a rest can cure many band related problems. I never needed fluid taken out, but I do all liquids (5 day pouch test?) for a few days about every 6 weeks or so....accomplishes the same thing IMO. Perhaps that's why after 4 years I have never had any issues...

    smoking

I quit smoking 5 months prior to surgery. Had to be smoke free for 3 months before they would even consider doing my surgery. I haven't had one urge to smoke since I quit. I figured if I'm putting myself through all of this to get heathy I will do everything to make sure I don't start smoking up again.
  15. Once again sorry for this post but i love the support here you guys are awesome. My parents have been on vacation for the past week and a half so some evenings i was kind of lonely which left me thinking about things...mainly things with the ex husband Looking back on the last 2 years I feel like an idiot. Why did I not leave the day I said I love you and he said he couldn't say it back. Why didn't I question things more when he got very possessive of his phone and wouldn't let me touch it. Why didn't I speak up when he went out with his female friends and didn't want me to come. I still want to think he wad not being unfaithful, at least physically, but all the classic signs were there and I feel like an idiot for not leaving two years ago
  16. I am six weeks out with my new sleeve, although the weight is coming off a lot slower then expected. I lost a total of 23#.. 17. So I got this weird allergy. It started on my chest as red bumps about 5 days ago. I then noticed they turned into brown patches. Then I noticed it was on my back, and really bad!!! I'm about to be 3 weeks post op on Tuesday. Should I be worried? Mom wants me to go to the hospital, I think I can wait to see my PCP. I'm just scared it's one of my organs or something lol
  18. Congratulations on getting through the requirements! Insurance approval shouldnt take too long...a week or so. Best wishes to you.

    Where to start

I don't know your stats but 800 calories a day doesn't seem too high to me. Unless you're really tiny and inactive, you should be able to lose on that amount. I mostly eat mini-meals throughout the day. I start eating at about 6 AM when I have coffee before work and I eat every 2-3 hours or so until about 6-7 PM (like maybe 6 AM, 8 AM, 11 AM, 2 PM, 5 PM and 6-7 PM). I'm naturally more hungry in the daytime and not so much at night, so I don't usually need to eat at night. It looks something like this: 1. 6 AM: Morning latte (made with Kitu Super coffee, 10g or Protein and no sugar) 2. 8 AM: 1 scrambled egg 3. 10 AM: Yogurt 4. 12 PM: 1 chicken thigh 5. 2 PM: sugar-free pudding 6. 4 PM: Lunch meat wrap made with Mission Carb Balance tortilla 8. 6-7 PM (Nighttime snack): cheese stick When I was still losing, I restricted carbs but not calories, so if I had a hungry day I might eat a little more or conversely I might have a low appetite day and eat less. I ate around 800 calories a day from 6 months through about 18 months, so I guess that's why it doesn't seem excessive to me. I did not have weekend treats while I was losing (although I did have special-occasion treats, like Christmas and my birthday). The more often you eat on-plan, the faster your weight loss, but you get to decide the balance between losing weight and enjoying life. Just be alert to how things affect you, so you can adjust if there is a problem.
  20. Hey everyone! I am just going into week 4. I must say I am hungry a lot lord than expected! I drink plenty of water but I’m never satisfied in the evenings what is a typical normal day for you? do you have treats at the weekend? i feel stressed I am having up to 800 kcal already let me know if I am being silly or what ideas you have and ideas of what to eat! Thank you!!! Daniella
  21. I was 450 when I started the program, lost 60 lbs in 9 months pre-op, and have lost 38 more in 9 weeks post-op. I feel confident that I will be able to reach my goal of 150, a 300 lb total loss. The sleeve is a great tool, you just have to follow the directions!
  22. Can everyone who'd like to participate, tell me how much you lost: 1 month after surgery... 3 months... 6 months... A year and further? I know everyone's different so I'd like to get as many experiences as possible! Thanks! =)

    Exercise and Hunger

This is kind of funny because after I swim (1 hour) I am starving! My mother who also swims actually feels less like eating. Shrug. So I always plan to eat afterwards. Not sure if others will disagree (only have had one fill so no restriction) but before I eat I have a drink of water. I then eat my meal. Since I don't have restriction I usually feel like I could eat more (my doctor says 3 oz protein, 1/4 veggie, 1/4 startch). You might want to have a go to snack that after you've eaten and then waited 10 minutes that you can have if you are still ravenously hungry. Here are some thoughts grilled chicken, cheese stick, veggie, fruit. I live alone so I have the option of just not buying foods that I should'nt be eating. A greek yogurt with fruit would also only be about 160 calories which would be better than the cookies. Also how about sugar free pops?

    Exercise and Hunger

Ok. On days that I work out I usually do 40-50 mins of cardio. If the machines are right I am burning about 300-400 calories. Well the issue is both times this week I have been starved, like to the point that I came home and binged. On crap may I add. Like today I had 3 cookies with frosting at the tune of 455 calories. Don't know why just did. And that was after I had two steak tacos. Just need to figure out how to work around this. HELP any ideas of what you do or don't do that works. Do you eat first or right after or what. Do you eat the extra calories that you burned off or still try to eat whatever you usually do. Thanks
