    my dinner

Wouldn't this be a meal for when you move to solids? I'm surprised your stomach will let you have it 3 weeks out. I can't even take my pills without being miserable for half the day.
  2. Hop_Scotch

    Is this normal?

Sounds like acid reflux. Assuming you are already on medication for acid reflux (most people need to take it for about two to four weeks post op), check with your surgeon/doctor whether you need something a little stronger for a while.

I had the sleeve and now revision to bypass and 3 wks PO. It is so different then the sleeve I’m trying to figure out if I’m full or ate or drank too fast idk.
  6. I’m 3 weeks PO and I have the worst gas ever now and can’t trust my farts. I also have the runs every day. Maybe it’s from the mushy food or liquids idk. Is this normal?

    my dinner

I'll give that a try this week and see how it comes out. I just saw a youtube video where someone made frozen salmon right out of the freezer using a nuwave and they basically just brushed on some olive oil and Mrs. Dash and then cooked it for 25 minutes straight, Since I don't think ahead to what I want for dinner usually I might just do that I'll probably try both ways to see if there's a difference or if I'll just keep going with the pressure cooker. Thanks for the suggestions!
  9. I wouldn’t worry yet. I didn’t meet my goals for a little while but my surgeon was happy I was making an effort & close to where I needed to be. It got easier on purées because I was eating g three times a day During the liquid stage I wasn’t hungry or interested in eating & was only managing two meals a day: a shake & some soup/broth. Was probably only meeting about 2/3 to 3/4 of my goals at first.
  10. I had the same symptoms as ms.sss. At 3 & 1/2 months on Thanksgiving, I tried Ben and Jerry’s lactose free ice cream. I had 1/4 cup and it hit me half an hour later, maybe less. I’m finding any sugar/carby food can trigger it, or sometimes it’s a reactive sugar drop a few hours later. Air popped light salt popcorn triggered it last time. I was never diabetic. I find dumping does keep me on the straight and narrow which is good! If you do want to try new foods, it helps to be at home with a time block of a few hours and a protein shake to counter the sugar lows. For those who think dumping is a get out of jail free card; there’s no weight loss. There may be a slight loss sometimes, but it’s water from the both ends pushing it all out. Mostly I find I still gain weight and trigger an asthma attack from all the inflammation. I have even measured my ankles and found them to be 2-3 centimeters bigger the day after a carb incident.

I think I may have messed up

You'll be fine, just don't do it again. It's 2 weeks of pain for a lifetime of health, just keep that in mind.

    my dinner

That looks delicious! Good job recognizing being full and stopping rather than just cleaning the plate! I love eating fish now and have been eating it regularly since the surgery. I get the pre-portioned 4 oz cuts frozen from BJ's, and have done salmon, pacific cod, and australian sea bass. Sea bass is the best. I can't cook so I actually make it in an electric pressure cooker with teriyaki sauce as the liquid base, and I have 3 oz of corn as my vegetable.

    May 2022 surgery?

Today was day one of stage 2 diet. I had a 1/2 cup of tomato basil soup and some soupy instant mashed potatoes. It was spectacular. It's been 3 weeks since I've chewed any food.

    May 2022 surgery?

Hi Marianne, age is just a number it's what you feel that matters😊 Congratulations on finding your true love not all of us are that fortunate! and if you feel this is the right time for you to look after yourself then you're on the right track! I'm 56 and have been a single mum of 3 for 23 years myself and I never thought of remarrying as I divoted myself to raising my kids now they're 35 33 and 27 and I have a grandchild as well♥️ who knows I may find true love too one day lol Thank you for your good wishes all the best to you keep me posted please🙏🙏
  18. : 3 I appreciate it. I'm still dealing with a lot of body dysmorphia. I def have weight to lose still but I carry most of it in my hips and lower stomach.
  19. I second speaking to your nutritionist. I assume you will have to pay since it’s been a while but it should be worth it. I would log what you have been eating for a week or two first so she can tell you where to make changes. I do see people on here do it so it can be done.

    Considering this procedure

DeMarie, so glad your surgery went well!! Getting those laps in helps move the gas in the abdomen and relieve the referred pain. Great job! I feel blessed to have had no nausea and only mild pain near my incision sites. I'm tolerating my fluids well. I unfortunately lost a little more blood during the surgery than expected. So I'm still in the hospital as they monitor my blood counts. Walking the hallways at the hospital unit takes alot of energy out of me, but I get a lap in then back to my room to nap. I should be discharged tomorrow. I'm looking forward to recovering completely. But am revising my estimated return to work. I was thinking I'd be off 2-3 weeks. Now I may take the whole 6 weeks covered by FMLA.
  21. Maybe do a reset. Your tool is still there and will still work, but it may need a reboot (like a computer) to kind of remember what it's supposed to be doing. I would try doing 3 or 4 days in each stage of the post op diet, to kind of jump start everything. Then go back to eating smaller portions and watching what those portions are of. Also, have you reached out to your nutritionist? Surgeons really can't help with the diet, he's right. But you should still have access to your nutritionist who can really help you get back to where you want to be.

Water Retention on Pre Op Liquid Diet

Don't worry about any of the process, It works. You will loose and its not a race. Have a weigh in every week then you wont have the anxiety of the ups and downs of a daily weigh in. You are doing so well. Give yourself a hug and a pat on the back from me

    May 2022 surgery?

Saw Doc yesterday and guess I have to do 1 more visit and will schedule for end of June or first of July. I guess I don't have to do week of liquids pre surgery. We'll talk about post surgery plan on next visit on May 31. I'm still really nervous but not wavering back and forth on decision like I was. Really nervous about telling my only son. I don't think he will be in favor of this at all. ( I should be able to just eat less and stick to it and not risk surgery.) Course I'm imagining that response. Thanks for this forum. Any suggestions welcome. Still need to hear success stories from folks my age.

    Liver shrinking DIET pre-RNY

I asked the surgery coordinator the same thing when we set up the 5/16 appointment? “You want me to start now? I could be 6-7 weeks out from surgery.” She replied: “Let’s see. Your BMI really isn’t that high, you could start it after you see him on 5/16 if you want. BUT, some of our patients like to start it as far in advance as they can.” 🤷🏻‍♀️I decided to start it. 🤷🏻‍♀️ It gave me a chance to find a protein drink I really like. And, truthfully, I think my surgeon things I’ll opt for a surgery date like 5/20 if it’s available. But, I’m committed to staying in school till the students are finished which is 6/8. I’m not scheduling a date prior to that. I’m fine with it. It’s been good for me to see that the numbers on the scale are going in the correct direction, and I haven’t eaten my arms off yet. 🤣😂 It’s giving me time to develop coping strategies…I’m not an emotional eater, but I will pop something into my mouth simply because it’s there for the taking. I wasn’t always like that, but when the lbs started coming in, I figured what the heck…might as well enjoy it. This week was Teacher Appreciation Week and every.single.day thete was food EVERYWHERE: candy apples 😳, burgers and fries, bagels and cream cheese, donuts, you name it. I stayed away from the myriad of places where food was spread out and kept busy and focused. My assistant is a *itch who never eats anything and this week she kept bringing plates of food into our room. I ignored her. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I guess I started early more for me than anything else. I’m thrilled to see I’m losing on this plan, because in the past, I could cut back, walk incessantly and actually gain a pound after a month. 🤦🏻‍♀️ This has been good for me. 🤗
