    Eating too fast maybe?

Thanks Guys for all your contributions of advice . 😘 I am Going to be very mindful going forward, and just go back to basics if need be, See how that is, and If it still continues I will make an appointment with my doctor next week. I may be eating too fast, I am working on slowing everything down. I only had my surgery in October 2021, So Its still early days as well, But thanks once again xxx🤗

    My experience… sleeved on 1/22/22

Hello all! I definitely am protecting the pouch! The most strenuous thing I’ve had is 2 tablespoons of Greek yogurt! :) I broke my stall today! I’m now 244.6 with a 2 pound weight loss!! I’m so happy! Definitely thinking the fact that I hit my liquid goal yesterday had to do with the loss. Staying hydrated is super important! My meals yesterday… 20 oz coffee Protein Drink (fairlife coffee flavor with Starbucks blonde cold brew black coffee) 2 tablespoons of Greek yogurt About 4 oz of a creamy puréed chicken bacon potato Soup. And lots of water! Today I’ll be taking my Christmas tree down. Well- everything but the actual tree due to the weight restriction. Then I’ll go walk at the gym. Only today and tomorrow left of my medical leave. Back to work on Saturday night. :)
  3. There is nothing wrong with the fact that you like to eat lemon, the main thing in this matter is to know the measure, because citric acid in large quantities can harm your body. However, I would recommend replacing lemon with herbs and tinctures, they do not contain acids and they are harmless to the body, but on the contrary are useful. For example, I have been eating healthy herbs for three months, after which my health has improved. I decided to compare lemon and herbs and herbs on in my comparison, as I found out later in the blog http://jordibhealthandfitness.com herbs can promote good digestion and improve blood circulation in the body. I think herbs are just a universal thing. However, the most important thing is to use and process them correctly. Think about using herbs for food and just eat them when you want to eat something.

    Potatoes 5 weeks out

My feeling is for the first few months follow your surgeon's and dietician's guidelines. From there once you've transitoned to solid foods you can work what works for you to lose weight (I wish we could talk about fat instead of weight) in a healthy way. In saying that, there are is a varitey advice from surgeons and dieticians...but none that recommends eating what you like three days out...please anyone who is new to this site or weight loss surgery...please disregard the approach of eating what you like three days out! There are medical reasons for not doing this. Your stomach healing is at risk, and just because one person didn't experience complications from eating 'what they liked' doesn't mean you won' t.

Hello Danna, Welcome to this wonderful site and all the great advice in it. Well done on the weight loss so far.. My anxiety has improved at every pound I have lost and it feels amazing. I went away for a week by the sea with friends last week and truly never once felt anxious or that everyone was watching me. Good luck on your journey

    Diet

Are you still in contact with your dietician? They’re always the best place to start. Go back to tracking & measuring your food if you don’t do this anymore. It’s easy to get complacent & less vigilant & eyeballing isn’t always accurate. I do random checks now to make sure I’m not over estimating portion sizes 😉. Ensure you’re still hitting your protein & fluid goals too. I do that every day. How many calories you should be aiming for will depend on many things like age, gender, level of activity, etc. i eat about 1300 calories. As for portion size I always consider the recommended portion size as a starting point. Sometimes I eat less, some times I can eat the recommended serving size. It depends on what I’m eating, how hungry I am & sometimes what my tummy is up for. For e.g. I can always eat more vegetables & today I could only eat about 3/4 of my usual serve of porridge. As for your food choices, again that is very individual. You need to work out a way of eating that best suits your lifestyle & is sustainable. For me that means prepping most of what I eat myself. I keep my meals fairly ‘clean’. Lowish fat, lowish carbs, no bread, pasta or rice & low sugar (usually 10g added sugar or less). No highly processed foods. No fast food & very rarely takeaway (maybe 5 times in almost three years - braised chicken, cashews & vegetables or steamed gyoza). I aim for 2 serves of meat, 3 or 4 serves of vegetables, 1 or 2 serves of fruit, 2 or 3 serves of dairy, 2 serves of multi or whole grain carbs. It’s been working for me but your needs & prefernces may be totally different.

    Diet

at that far out I'd switched over to mostly calorie counting (although I know it isn't for everyone). I had to experiment a bit to figure out at what range I maintained my weight (for me, it was 1500-1700 calories, but that's going to differ for everyone). If I went under that most days of the week, I'd lose - if I went over it consistently, I'd gain.

Dr says no more protein shakes

This concerns me too. I hope you find some answers & (more sensible to me anyway) advice. Even though your dietician appointment isn’t until April, reach out & see if you can get an earlier appointment or if they’re willing to speak to you on the phone or via email. I got off protein shakes & onto real food from week 3 & the purée stage - my choice. Sure I wasn’t eating much & didn’t meet my protein goals to begin but I was eating three times a day. All the best.

Protect the pouch! The first three weeks were SO HARD. You can do this! I'm two years post-op and there were so many temptations and ways I could have ruined the chance I was given. Any time I think I want to eat, I go for a walk. It helps me reset my head.

    Beer craving

I went to a friend's 50th birthday party three weeks after my surgery and it was rough! I love beer, and to be there without being able to drink was a struggle. But, I made it through the night without a drink, and I did it knowing that some day I could probably have beer again. I didn't have a beer until six months post-op. I'm two years post-op and I have an occasional beer, but it's usually a stout because anything with carbonation bothers me. I've learned to savor my beer because you will be a total lightweight after surgery. I usually don't finish my pint, which still stuns me! Hang in there - you'll get to have alcohol again, and it will be worth the wait.
  12. I started my journey in July, 2021. I'm am 47 years old female, almost 48 next week. I've been heavy all my life. I have currently lost aprox 55 lbs. Waiting on surgery approval from insurance. I was diagnosed with MS in 2012. I have issues with mobility and trying to do exercises. Guess it's more motivation also is needed. This last week I've anxiety issues with some neighbors. Doing good at not eating my emotions. Anxiety is doing a number on my body. Looking for friends and accountability. I'm from PNW Oregon. Sent from my SM-T878U using BariatricPal mobile app

    A stall already?

That's not odd - pretty much what I've experienced! Eating less calories isn't the answer and I imagine that will just create more problems. Your body needs those calories. Stalls are your body's time-out to deal with the trauma of the surgery and the sudden prolonged severe drop in caloric intake. If anything, upping the calories and exercise has been the best way I've found to break the stalls. I'm averaging about a kilogram of weight loss a week, which is what I was losing when I was doing calorie counting and exercise the last time I made a decent effort of losing the analogue way - before I finally accepted I needed surgical help. So I've not experienced the "weight melting off" or "honeymoon period" so many others talk about on here. And while it can get you down, I look at the long term bright side. Slower steadier weight loss is healthy, the number is still going down, and hopefully this means our skin has a better chance of springing back, and our hair loss will be minimal. Fingers crossed!

    January 2022 Surgery Buddies

Hello everyone! I had my revision surgery on 01/19/2022. I went from lap band to sleeve. Today officially marks 2 weeks post-surgery and I have lost 20 lbs! I dealt with severe nausea, but it's much better now. I feel good overall. Just a bit tired still. Happy to have found this place! ♥

    Food Before and After Photos

Finally made our delayed New Years Day traditional dinner of roasted pork, sauerkraut with apples and smashed little red potatoes. Make it only once a year - always look forward to it. Has made some nice leftovers this week, too.

    Food Before and After Photos

I seem to have the opposite problem lately. When I am home - I feel like I'm in a more controlled environment. All the drinks are prepared and made a head of time, vitamins on the counter, healthy choices in the refrigerator. It's when I go out that I can get in trouble... Very little I eat out satisfies me anymore (just too much oil, butter, salt, sugar, fried, powder sugar dusted even on chicken - over embellished dishes even when you ask them to leave off the salt!) So easily detected, now that I have been pretty clean for three years now - So, I end up not eating anything and crave a dessert or treat on the menu to compensate. Florida dining definitely had better choices out than here in South Carolina. We have really scaled back on eating out here. ;[

    A stall already?

omg! I'm 6 weeks post op and I have been dealing with the exact same problem, every second week I have been stalling I didn't know if it was cause I was struggling to have protein, my caloric intake I was worried I wasn't going to get over the stall too. I'm also eating 800-950 calories a day is that too much 6 weeks out oh and just before a stall I will gain a pound then stall and then I lose 5 pounds then gain a pound and stall is this odd??
  19. Mine is 6 weeks. I have 3 more of the 6 to go. And the only real reason is just because of scheduling. My surgery date is Feb. 23, 2022, it was the next available.
  20. Update! Doctor's office called and said they hope to have my sister and I scheduled in the next two weeks. Surgeries are still pushed out to April but I am just thankful to finally be getting a surgery date!!! 🤩

  21. My surgery is exactly 3 weeks from today! I am having VSG on Feb 23!
  22. Hi! 😊 I am new here and just wanted to start somewhere! I am 3 weeks from my surgery! I am excited and a bit nervous! I am having the gastric sleeve. At my consultation on January 11th, I was 287 lbs. Today I am at 272 lbs. Just trying to lose as much weight as I can before the BIG DAY!!!!

    My experience… sleeved on 1/22/22

Another day without a weight loss- I’m kinda stuck at 246.6. Still better than the starting weight I was at. Todays win is that my favorite pair of lounge pants aren’t so tight. :) Yesterday I definitely didn’t hit my liquid goals. So I’m gonna focus on that today. Currently I’m enjoying a coffee with protein drink. Out of the 20 oz I have about 5 oz left to drink. Only about 44 oz left for the day. I have my 38 oz water bottle with me as well. So I’ll be working on drinking that as well today. The remainder will probably be another shake so I’m getting my protein in. I also have a dentist appointment for a cleaning and I can not wait! Let me tell you- not being able to chew and being on a liquid only diet for almost 4 weeks has made my teeth feel gross no matter how many times a day I’m brushing/ flossing and using mouth wash. ICK. Last night I went out with friends. We walked around a mall, then went and saw a movie. I found it easier than I expected to be with them as they had movie theater snacks. I was very happy with my water- I also snuck a protein shake in if I felt like I needed something more. :) I know I’m supposed to be working on establishing 3 meals a day but it’s really challenging with such a limited variety. It’s totally psychological for me due to my normal schedule. I currently work overnights but have switched my sleep schedule to more of a normal one while being home on leave. So everything is kinda goofy and it’s gonna stay that way for a little bit. I just found out yesterday I have about two more weeks of traditional overnights then I’m moving to a semi overnight schedule. I’m ecstatic to be moving to a different schedule that’s a little more normal. :)

    A stall already?

I am 8 weeks out and at the End of December I started my stall. It went for 4 weeks roughly just started weighing my self again and now I am losing again. Like everyone else is saying stay off the scale and weigh once a week. Stick to your plan! It will restart! it just feels like forever until it does.
  25. I had revision from VSG TO BYPASS on 01/17/22 at 3 weeks post op my dr wants me to stop all protein shakes and only eat once a day. Maybe one egg and a little cottage cheese. He says protein doesn’t matter and the shakes will work against me. What do you guys think??
