My NSV: last week my 22yo son said to me that he can't remember what I looked like when I was heavy. 5 years + banded, I've been heavy longer than I have not, but he can't remember anymore. He was 17 when I got banded.

Just had a NSV today. Only 4 weeks post op. Went to Dress Barn and automatically went to the plus side of the store. The sales lady came over to me and said that I am on the wrong side of the store, the misses sizes are on the other side of the store. I just about cried. I had never even thought to try on misses sizes. It's been 25 years, at least, since I've been able to wear a misses size. On cloud 9 today

Another NSV today is I have a outline of my elbow! Y'all are the only ones I can tell that to and have someone be excited for me lol. No one else really understands all these little things I'm seeing haha...they just are happy for me if I said pigs fly lol! Today I was putting on my makeup and for some reason I looked at my arm and could see my elbow instead of just it being round.
  4. It's not silly at all- that's a great NSV- your shrinking! I haven't had an nsv for a while- went on vacation for 2 weeks and am having trouble getting back on track, both with eating right and excersise. Today, so far so good, so hopefully this is the start. I will hit the gym in the morning.

So I had the PLEASURE of flying for the first time since losing weight! Ohhhh the NSV's were COUNTLESS! Well not countless cuz you can bet your sweet bippy I noticed every single one!! Starting with the preparation...no anxiety about taking up too much of the seat next to me! Then going through TSA and the agent does a triple take of my I.D. so I tell her "It's okay, you can tell me that looks NOTHING like me!" ... and she says "It doesn't! I mean I can sorta tell it's you but...." so I said "I've lost 110 pounds!" She was sooo nice and told me how amazing I look and congratulated me! That was one TSA experience I enjoyed....probably the only one in the history of TSA. Anyway...then there was the removing of the shoes that I used to loathe because tying my shoes used to be a big chore...NOT ANYMORE!! I can take those puppies off and on and tie them NO PROBLEM!! I do it for fun sometimes! Well not really but I could if I thought it were fun. I couldn't wait to board the plane! When I got to my seat it was sooo awesome to see extra seat on both sides of my ass!!! Not a chance there was gonna be any of me spilling over into the passengers seat next to me! Then the seat belt...I heard the angels singing when I clicked the buckle and had to pull it tight...soooo much left over belt! I took a picture! LOL This was THE best trip of my life. I spent 4 days in Vegas enjoying the spa in a bathing suit with ZERO thoughts about my weight. It felt AMAZING to truly be able to relax an enjoy myself. Negative thoughts used to consume me...everything I did brought about thoughts about my weight. I'm so happy to be living without those thoughts anymore. I can do anything! I FEEL amazing and that is priceless!

    Non-Scale Victories!!

Thanks everyone for posting your NSVs.....here's mine for today.....I went out of the house with a sleeveless tank top on and my daughter wasn't ashamed of having me near her, she even said that I looked great.....coming from my teenage daughter I was pleasantly surprised. I never thought I would see 18 (that's what I am wearing now)and now i am just starting to wear a 16. My goal is to feel good about myself by this summer when my whole family is getting together in Cape Cod. Most have only seen me in a size 24. Keep up the good work everyone.:scared2:

    Non-Scale Victories!!

Fairysaddle - those ARE GREAT NSV's!!! You are doing AWESOME!!! :-) Ang - I didn't post back here but I did on my blog, he was in the slammer :-) I did hear from him on Tuesday, did his taxes (he didn't pay me yet) and then haven't heard from him since - so things were back to good, and now not anymore....I got used for my Turbo Tax LOL!!! Needless to say his number got deleted AGAIN...I just don't have the patience for B/S!!! He should have just left me alone to begin with but I guess he didn't want to pay H&R block! Creeps...eh, having a great week otherwise! How is everybody???
  11. So does anybody have get together's wouldn't it be fun to get a group of all of us together. I don't usually do support groups because there in the evening but I would love to get a group of Ohio bandsters together like maybe once every three months? If someone is interested I would totally help organize it. I am in the Dayton Area. I can get anywhere pretty quick and would love to meet and discuss what weightloss has done for us. I think it would be an encouragement to all of us! I have been banded for four months and I am down on my count from 349 to 275, on my scale. Docs are a little different but this is what I am going with... Anyways I also go to a local gym in the Dayton area if anyone needs a good workout partner! I am starting to see NSV's and I got on a pair of 22 Jeans today! Hoooraaaayyyyyy! These were my favorite jeans back in the day. I can't quite wear them out yet but they are on!!! So if anyone is interested in getting a solid lap band support group together or if there is one already I would like to sign up!!! Thanks! Good luck everyone!

    My NSV

I attended a memorial for a friend this past Wednesday. It was a sad occasion, but really good to see old friends. Everyone I talked to told me how good I looked. It felt good to hear. None of those that I saw this week knew I had the surgery and I left it that way. Although I told one of my oldest friends as she just kept complimenting me. She said I looked like I did back in high school, what a compliment. I really felt good knowing that all my hard work is paying off. Yay for all the nsv's to come.

    First Follow Up Today

that's awesome! it will work soon! Don't rely on what the scale says to measure how you are doing... yes the numbers going down are awesome but look for the NSV's (non scale victories) like your clothes fitting better, being able to tie your own shoe, crossing your legs, the double chin becoming just one chin lol.... i know we rely on numbers so much (me too) but try to look at the whole picture not just what the scale says
  18. I remember the stalls I had and I would totally get frustrated and depressed. I had to get away from the scale because it was driving me absolutely crazy! It was amazing to see the inches melt away when I was in a stall and I loved it, except I had to spend money for new clothes. But today, I have very few cloths and am determined to not settle for what will fit and only, I mean only, buy the clothes I absolutely fall in love with. YayyyyyyyY! You guys will have several stalls but will be losing inches. Ditch the stupid scale and live day by day enjoying every NSV that is coming your way. I love my sleeve but sometimes, on certain days, I do want to eat more. So I constantly will have to be on top of my head hunger and drink lots of water first. We can do this!

    A New Day

What a terrific NSV for you!
  20. While I was driving my daughter to school today, she was being a bit weird and became silent. I asked her what was wrong and she said, " Ok, I am just gonna say it. You look weird to me". I asked her what she meant by that and she replied, "I am used to seeing my big, fat, old, cheery mom and not this skinnier old cheery mom." So, I instantly retorted that I was not old, just old-ER than her. I also thanked her for the compliment on my weight loss and reminded her that I was still the same cheery person. She said it was gonna take some time to get used to seeing me shrink. HAHAHA! That made my day and I hope it lasts all week.

    Any other September 2013 bandsters?

I followed the pre-op diet very strictly and lost about 25-30 lbs before surgery. I was banded with these guys on 9/30. Since then I've lost 40 more lbs. Except for Christmas time, I have been very careful with what I eat because I am terrified of band slippage and being stuck, especially since my ER visit in Dec. I chew very carefully, though sometimes I still find myself eating too fast. My doc recommends 1/4c at meals, but I need 1/2c--I have the same fill as right after surgery and I don't think I'm going to add too much more any time soon, maybe .5 at my next appt. For me, it seems like the more I eat the more I lose. I exercise 2-3 times a week, but not faithfully. When I do, however, I kick butt and workout hard, no faking for me. Ain't nobody got time for that!! lol I use the app Lose It! to track my food, and I'm trying for 80-100g of Protein and 1000 to 1200 calories, because like I said, the more I eat the better the scale is, and I can worry less about not getting enough protein. As a recovering food addict, I feel safe eating the same thing over and over. No room for cheating or decisions. So lately I've been having 1-2 eggs or a protein shake for Breakfast, 2 slices turkey/2 slices cheese for lunch, yogurt mid-afternoon, and 2-4 oz some kind of meat with 2-4 tbs veg for dinner. Sometimes a snack in there too, like a Quest bar. So today I am forced to have a NSV treat--my bras are way too big and aren't holding up well (pun intended) so I'm off to Soma to get some new ones! I hope I fit--I'm just in between an XL and a 1X. Wish me luck! (And no, I won't be posting photos later. LOL!!!)

    Any other September 2013 bandsters?

Well I am now convinced my body just loses weight funny. I have literally weighed the EXACT same for the past 3 days! not an ounce different. Only eating 1200 calories and walking 2 miles a day and that scale doesn't want to budge! Funny thing is that it really doesn't bother me now because I know it will eventually. It seems I go for a couple weeks with little change and then I just drop 4-7 lbs overnight!! It makes no sense but I am starting to understand my body better now and I will take what I can get!! And I still notice the NSV differences in my clothes and the way I feel. I can now walk longer with less effort and no heavin and hoein...lol
  23. That's a great NSV! Congrats! Here's to crossing

That is NOT the least bit silly! Congrats on the loss and the NSV. You are a great role model. Thanks, everyone, for the kind words--you are the best! Sometimes, it seems to me, when we are in the middle of chaos, we don't realize how difficult it all is until we are able to look back and go, "Whew! We made it." Thanks for your thoughts and prayers. They are SO appreciated. We are doing fine. First daughter to arrive comes in a few hours--sheets are changed and I put a little pot of fresh flowers in her room. We are ready to PAR-TAY with her and her grandpa and the others when they arrive. Oh, a funny thing happened (skip this part if you want--it's just me rambling--again). I asked this daughter who is coming tonight if there is anything she would like to request while she is here (meaning, of course, FOOD because in our family FOOD IS LOVE). She's a tiny little thing--5'8" and 117 dripping wet). She said, well, you know, it's silly but I've been really wanting some meatloaf and baked potatoes, squash, biscuits, etc.--you know, Sunday dinner--because Matt (her husband who isn't coming until Saturday) hates meatloaf and squash. The funny thing is that I fixed that very meal on Sunday and had leftovers but had given my parents and another daughter each two big slices of meatloaf to take home and I didn't have any left. So, I called my daughter and they were just sitting down to dinner--leftover meatloaf. So I called my parents and they still have the meatloaf. Yippee! My husband is taking a little cooler up there today when he goes to sit with my Dad and packing up the two pieces of meatloaf to bring home for her. I still have potatoes, biscuits, and squash. So we are set and I don't have to cook again for tonight. Crazy! Well, like I said, FOOD IS LOVE and she will definitely know she is loved! LOL Have a great day and thanks, again, for your support and well wishes. Karen

    MaRcHiEs IN MaY

Hi Marchies, I've been MIA for a couple of weeks. I've had some issues between a pulled muscle in my abdomen which is EXCRUCIATING at times, and constipation causing hemorrhoids/anal fissures I've been pretty miserable. I went for a fill on 4/15 but Dr. Singh wanted to wait. He said if he gave me a fill and I was too tight I would have vomiting which would aggravate my muscle so he told me to rest the muscle to help it heal and to come back in 3 weeks. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that by 6/12 I'm done with pain and able to get a fill! I've lost 17.5lbs since surgery but have had some NSV's. I'm down from a 26/28 in tops and bottoms to an 18 top, and I can fit into 24 bottoms but they are too snug in the hips to be comfortable
