    March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD

Fenton - that's wonderful news. I'm with Harley, I love to read and I love words. I just may be going to Amazon.com to purchase your book. It would be a nice diversion though I will have to put off reading it until after next May. If I am to graduate on time I cannot let anything distract me. In fact I have been trying to cut back on me being on LBT because I get so caught up that time flies by before I realize it. I'm sort of sick of school, but I know that if I simply buckle down, I can be finished and moving on to my next goal - whatever that may be. I've been in school for so long, I'm pretty sure it won't be me taking any kind of serious classes. In fact, I have said that after this, I am concentrating on my baby's education. On another note, I broke down and weighed myself at work. Last week it had me up in weight. Today It has me down past where I was when I weighed in with my doctor. Who knows what that means - except both my home and work scales went down. i can't wait until 5/12 when I can weigh in with the surgeon. I'm not changing my ticker until then. NSV - I retired my first pair of pants. They truly are sagging and too big - that may be mostly because they were cheap - but heck I'll take any victory I can legitimately get! Teri and Fenton – Congrats on your weight loss this week! I feel my port too. I usually feel it when I am walking – like after I have walked past my comfort level. I just push through it and keep going. The pain usually doesn’t last long or becomes so dull that it’s not bothersome.
  2. Welcome Sidann! Congrats on your upcoming surgery! Do you live here in Colorado? Join us at Red Robins each month for some extra support, if you do. You'll be thrilled with Dr. K and his staff! This surgery has been the best thing for me! Each new day brings me a new NSV! I love it!:rolleyes2: dee~

    Non-Scale Victories!!

Yay fantastic NSV's everyone. Ninja - I had to giggle at the "You look more compact, somehow" comment - that is such a man thing to say ... compact. Very awesome and very funny!

    April Avengers - NSV!

NSV's Galore! I am excited again...boy do I like this feeling. Good feelings instead of depressed. Happy to go into the "stash of clothes that are probably out of style but I really don't give a damn because they fit"! I was able to get into a pair of 16W jeans I haven't worn in 3+ years this past weekend...and I didn't have to lay down to zip them up. Woot! Carol - I cannot wait to be able to cross my legs - I'm looking forward to that one! Congrats!

    NSV while out of town!

I think this may be my favorite NSV so far. DH & I went out of town for the weekend, and there were several other people that went as well for a bowling tournament. Anyway, at the hotel, I went into the fitness room and got in a workout. It was only a 30 minute workout, so it wasn't STELLAR, but hey, I was proud of myself for at least doing SOMETHING... So here's the NSV. One of the ladies there that we knew, and play volleyball with asked me the next day, aren't you SO sore? And I didn't know what the heck she was talking about. I wasn't sore at all, because 30 minutes for me now is a pretty easy workout. Well, she had seen me doing my workout, and was shocked to learn that I do that and more, mostly every day. She wasn't shocked that I do it, but she said there's no way she could hack it, and this lady is skinny, and looks pretty fit. I felt like a rockstar!

Also, I'm happy because my book has just come out in the UK and is apparently doing well, and my work on the sequel is going well. Best of all, maybe, a production company wants the movie rights to the book... Not an NSV, a NLBV!
  8. Hi violets~ I have a follow up dr visit this morning so he can see how the antibiotics are doing. I am keeping my fingers crossed but am kind of worried. We'll see. Tomorrow and Wednesday I have meetings at corporate in Houston. They are boring but it is better than being at my office. The fun part is going to be that I have not seen the houston folks since a year ago this month. They have not seen me since I had just had the surgery done. Should be a day full of NSVs and I am so excited! I look at it as a day to get me rejuvinated to lose these last 5-10 pounds. Have a great Monday everyone!

I NEEDED new jeans. My wife forced me to buy some. She said I was swimming in the 46 jeans I had. While at Tractor Supply the other day, I noticed their clothing area. I have never even shopped there because I figured the clothes would just be for skinny little bull riders and other cow-pokes. To my surprise, I was checking out the Wrangler section and they had some jeans that went up to WAY past where I am now. I guess it is for the farmers that are getting on up there in age and size! I find a section of Wranglers that are relaxed fit and they don't have 44x32's like I would like to wear. Only 30" inseam... high-waders on my 6' plus frame. I noticed that they had some 42x32's and I grabed a pair of those to just try on and see how far away I am from them. Well, the reason I was swimming around in the 46 jeans is because the 42's FIT. I can't believe it, but they do fit. WOOO HOOO!!! I can buy 42x32's at pretty much any store. I no longer have to go to the big and tall stores or resort to the el-cheapo Wally world jeans! Another NSV happened twice this week. I had 2 people not recognize me. One I saw at Tractor Supply while buying these pants. I used to work with this guy. Naturally we spent a lot of time together. That was just 8 months ago. I said something off the wall that made him know I knew him and he just gave me this BIG blank stare. Ya know, like a cow looking at a new gate... that kind of stare. Then he slowly said, "Craig... Is that you?" OH happy week!

Hi everyone!! Our special evening turned into 2 days!! He surprised me by taking me to Atlantic City for a couple of days. Even called my boss and told her I wouldn't be in!! I did walk the boardwalk a lot and managed not to gain a pound! A NSV was when he told me I looked 'hot". I almost passed out!! I haven't had anyone tell me that in 30 years!!!! He is an amazing man! I finished my 4.5 mile walk today. Enjoy your Sunday!

Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters

Phyl I agree I really don't have any temptations - it's all about choices aka trade offs - budgeting calories If I really really want something I will have a lower calorie version or just one serving not the whole darn thing. Yesterday at the grocery store while bagging my food - they had these little sample packs of some kind of candy - Choc - the girl threw 3 of the little baggies in my bag - I just told her no thank you I don't want those and she took them out great NSV - plus I was tired hungry and I might have eaten them and I don't need them - I want my last 5 lbs gone Yes that's right I changed my ticker back to 160 - I truly feel that that's going to be a good weight that I can live with and if I do go below so be it - icing on the cake - but for once in my life I want to get to goal and for my age I think its a good weight - I read an article that the majority of the women are 5'4 and weigh 164 lbs.. So I will be 4lbs less than the average - and size 10 ain't nothing to sneeze at either - was 18/20 in pant last July Steph - Choice to eat 1 or 2 egg rolls and that's it - you will be full if you can even eat 2 - I could only eat 1/2 of one at the fair this yr. Peaches - So I take it socialized/universal medicine isn't all that it's cracked up to be... You gotta wait 3 months for something - Here in the states that can't turn you away at the ER if you are sick but after they fix you up then send you to the county hospital (medical/welfare) Linda - Good choice !!! sounds good - I'm hungry You are right about the grandkids - I will always take care of them.. Dinners tomorrow - It's me and my fur babies tonite OH I ALMOST FORGOT... Got the results (well sort of ) of my blood test I need FOLIATE ?? and get this my bad cholesterol was 100 it's now 121 WTF is that about - I am not eating 1/4 of the fat I use to eat.. My overall cholesterol is 175 but the bad has jumped?? Maybe it's the olive oil - prior to banding I used canola/corn oil blend - I just can't believe this - I am 85 lbs light but my bad cholesterol increases... and I exercise.. I guess I am going to have to try that steel oatmeal ???

WOW Stef! I am sorry about all the troubles, but I think it's awesome that you have come to the decision you have. It takes a lot of strength but I am sure you have it in you. Not only have you made excellent choices as far as exercising but life decisions which will help you keep it off! Please keep us posted, and know that we are always here if you need support. I am at a standstill with the weight loss but I have had a huge NSV. I am down 8 more inches, and I am thrilled about that. I have been a lot busier since school, and I look forward to a time when I will be able to hit the gym on a normal schedule but for me right now maintaining is good. I really want that extra pound to come off, but it's just not shedding, not sure why but I am thinking about doing liquids for two days, just to see if I can keep remembering how not important food is..The other thing is we are just having so many other battles right now, I believe it is stressing me out and I am once again turning to food for comfort...Lots of things in my life are assisting with this but I need to get in control of this, but for right now I am still moving and I am sure not going back to where I was...and I haven't been that bad but....not great either...Ever been there?

I finally have a NSV. Okay this morning I went to my closet and pulled out a pair of jogging pants that I brought in February and they appeared to look really small (you know from one of the outlets that carry irregular items) and decided to put them on they fit great, I even had room so to top that off I pulled out a t shirt to wear with them and got my teenage daughter to tie the shirt up in the back and she said "wow mom you look good, your butt looks smaller and your hips have gone down". She sees me everyday and for her to notice just set my day off. I feel GREAT! Not to mention I'm going to the Doctor for a fill today and I know it's going to be positive.

    April Exercise Challenge

Very nice Stef!! Looks like alot of fun at both. As for me, last night was upper body. Let me just say, I've always lifted, but I honestly feel as if I am getting to be stronger than ever before and working harder than ever before. The weights I'm throwing around, while nowhere near what a true powerlifter does, is so much more compared to my current weight than ever in the past. Ok, done tooting my own horn. This morning was 60 minutes on the elliptical. Have to work this weekend, so cardio will be trimmed down. Might be able to get out on the bike this weekend after work, but not holding my breath.:frown: Back to tooting my own horn, couple of nsv's to share. Tried on my shorts from last summer that were getting a little tight. Waaaay to baggie now. If I put a belt on, the shorts bunch up on the side and look awful. No way I can wear them again. 2nd one, the other day at home while changing, I noticed I have oblique muscles now. Where did those come from? Still got the love handles, but much smaller and the muscle is starting to show through.:w00t: I'll never have a 6 pack, but I'll take what I can get. Last one, yesterday I was walking through our dept when our training Lt that had been away at an FBI class for close to 3 mos mentioned I had lost enough weight to finally need new uni's. I looked him in the eye and said,"Yeah, again". I got new uni's at the end of last year around late Dec. Now, those are getting baggy. Been a great week for the esteem.

    Non-Scale Victories!!

Knockouts - y'all are awesome!! I LOVE hearing these!! My NSV for the week - I went shopping, looking for new pants - it was pretty crappy weather (rain/snow) and I was on my bike, but I had layers on and was warm and I was LOVING IT...I was so muddy and blasting thru every puddle - it was so FUN!!! Outside Sears, I had a guy in a WHEELCHAIR tell me that me being on my bike in the rain was an awful way to get around that day...Excuse me? UR serious? UR in a wheelchair? I was so estatic that I could even MOVE, that I could even get around....last summer I had constant back pain, there's no way I would have even had enough ambition to do that! Never did find any pants I liked?!?! Just think.... where was everyone at 1 year ago today???? I know I was so so unhappy and miserable.....
  20. I LOVE THE PICS DENISE!!!!!! You ARE the cutest and coolest nanna around!!!!!!! and you are smaller than your daughters! NSV NSV!

N E 1 been Banded at Mt. Carmel col, oh

I had my follow-up today with Dr. Choban, and I am down 13 lbs from surgery! Yayyyy! I am also way excited that I am scheduled for my first fill May 6th. She initially said May 13th, but when they called me to schedule, turns out that she is not available that day. So rather than make me wait 7 weeks, she brought me in a week early. I am totally thankfull for that, and I can not WAIT! Also, huge NSV for me today! I bought a size 24 jean today. And they fit. Well. Not only were they 24's (most of my closet holds 26 or 28's) they were Wal-Mart 24's. Not Lane Bryant, not Avenue, real person 24's. Okay, small victory, but it feels so huge, so I am just gonna enjoy the hell out of it! Also, Dr. Choban and I talked about our little group. I shared with her so many of our concerns, and how happy I am with the people I have met and the support that I receive from them. She thought that it was fabulous, and made the generous offer to attend one of our monthly meetings if we would like to discuss our concerns about the practice, ask questions about our recovery, anything. I thought that was really nice of her to offer. She said that any of the surgeons, nurses, or the dietician are available if we would ever like to schedule them to come and speak with us.

    March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD

MoverM, Welcome to the Master Thread - and all of the other March 2008 threads. These people are truly wonderful. I do not have a support group near me (I had surgery 2.5 hours away from my home) so this is as close as I get. I actually think that this is a better support group than those that are in person because there's no face-to-face there's no feeling like you need to embellish. Here it simply is what it is. I'm glad that you are here and getting some much needed support. Well all, I have decided that I MAY not weigh myself at home anymore. I had my post op yesterday and I had not gained back 2.5 pounds. I have actually lost another 1.something or other. So post op I'm down 17.5 lbs. YEA ME!!! NSV - a no-nonsense, non tongue-holding, cute, tiny, petite co-worker told me that I am looking great!!!! YEA ME again! So, no more standing on my scale up to six times in the morning until I get the same reading twice. I have a fairly new weight watchers scale so I don't think it’s the scale, I think it’s the floor not being level. I have my next appointment on May 12th. My doctor said that he might give me my first fill then. Now I almost wish had kept my original April 7th appt - but that was my baby's recital - I could not miss that. Ok - the sun is shining and I want to enjoy it. I have not done my walking for the day.
  23. I had a minor NSV today. I bought some XL sweaters from Victoria's Secret a couple months ago, I don't know if you guys remember me being so excited about that. Well, I wore them but they were a little too tight on the boobs (not complainin). It's been warm, but the past 2 days have been cold, all my winter clothes are packed up or given away (I don't plan to wear that size next winter!!). So I was trying to find somethin warm to put on over my shirt this morning, and found one of my VS sweaters. I put it on, and it's actually.. BIG?! The boob issue was non-existant. It hangs off of me..arms and boobs were too big. An XL.. at VS!! And I only wore this one once, so I didn't stretch it out. I was looking at my blog statistics, majority of my hits come from LBT, I finally had my first hit from google-- this is what I really wanted to see, and it was no let down. It tells you what someone googled to get to your page... ready for this? "Need to pee" roflmao. Someone typed that in google and ended up on my blog. Glad you're feeling better today Kat!!
