My daughter asked me what happened to my hands I was oh they just aren't fat anymore lol. She thought something was wrong. 5. Towels fitting right 6. Being able to walking longer and more often. 7. Weight loss stall

I'm tracking my food. I get about 1000-1200 calories per day. I focus on protein and fluids, as the doctor has recommended. I've taken a couple days to increase the calorie intake to jump start things, but it's fairly difficult to do so. I've increased fiber substantially because of "You know what", so things are better in that area as well. I've also increased the amount of exercise, and have been more active in yard work on top of that. I feel like I destroyed my stomach for no reason now. I simply don't understand why I'm stuck. The doctors said stalls are common and get more calories, but it hasn't worked. Any other person with my body type would melt off calories at 1-1.2k per day with exercise.

    Lab orders without doctor

Why don’t you need lab work done anymore? I’m three years (well will be on Friday) & I still have them done about every three months. I see my surgeon’s colleague In two weeks & I have a blood test scheduled for next week. Don’t know how long this will continue though or if it will become less frequent. Maybe it’s just different surgeons & programs around the world. Have to admit I am pleased I do have them frequently. It’s how we picked up my protein malabsorption issue after my gall removal last year & picked up a seasonal drop in my vitamin D levels in winter (level still ok just something to be aware of). PS - Many blood tests are covered by our public health system (Medicare) in Australia so I haven’t had to pay for any of mine.
  4. You know I've been going though clothes sizes pretty fast. It would be cool if there was a place for bariatric patients to share and swap clothes. Just because we go through sizes so fast. That way we didn't have to buy clothes in a size we only be in for a few weeks or months. Sent from my SM-A716U using BariatricPal mobile app

    TMI question 🙋‍♀️

Hello, I had a BM about 3 days after surgery. I didn't take any medicine, it was just natural. Although, the sugar free popsicles did not agree with my stomach so it was diarrhea.

    5 Weeks Post-Op

Ugh! Just broke my stall that lasted about 2-3 weeks! Hopefully you did too! As for snacks, my doc told me it’s perfectly normal to feel hungry more often so it’s okay to snack, just mindful snacking. Good luck!

    5 Weeks Post-Op

Hi! I had my surgery about 5 weeks ago too on April 4th. I still have the restrictions and can’t really eat past 2-3 ounces but I am noticing myself getting more snacky in between meals, so that is a bit concerning to me as well. As silly as it sounds I have been starting to worry that my stomach is growing back lol. In the beginning I wouldn’t feel so snacky but now I am, and not to mention the infamous 3 week stall I have hit for 2 weeks now! But tomorrow is weigh in day and I pray I broke it. i haven’t even eaten fruits yet as my diet says I can’t until like 3months, lucky you because I REALLY want a pineapple. good luck to you and I’m sure everything will be fine. Just try to track what you’re eating it really makes a difference and makes you more conscious, so even if you don’t feel the restriction you are still putting nutrients and protein in your body.

    May 2022 surgery?

I'm May 18 and start a one week liquid fast this Tuesday. My head is spinning from reading so many books/articles/blogs but the best information has come from reading everyone's comments in this forum. You guys are all so kind and helpful. Your comments and responses make me hopeful that I can pull this off and be a part of your supportive community! I'm 78 (very healthy) and hope to blaze a trail for older people who still want to stay active. Even just one lb. a year adds up to an "obese" BMI . Very discouraging. Good luck to all of the May surgeries . . . new life is right around the corner.
  10. It is 7.20 am here and I am ready to go into hospital to have my RNY done at midday. I did so much better on two week liquid diet than I thought I would. I am proud of myself for this. Mostly packed and will be at the hospital by lunch time. I had decided to only tell 2 people about it irl but I outed myself accidentally by posting details on my facebook timeline. That has kinda taken the shine off today. Hopefully I will be able to laugh at some stage but not yet. Looking forward to the future. One with hope.

    Does flavored coffee have calories?

It's the sugar in the K-cups that makes it 70 calories. If you just switch to ground coffee (no sugars), it's less than 3 calories per serving. https://www.nutritionix.com/i/great-value/creamy-hazelnut-ground-coffee/60b15428794e131b82903405

    What's Your Food Nemesis?

I love pasta and chips too but sadly I will tell you it doesn't go away...especially the 2 week liquid diet (or more) you'll miss food sooo much and crave it. Best to develop the right mindset, find healthy alternatives when you can eat solid food and find the right coping mechanisms. Sent from my SM-G975U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Stomach capacity

You will know very soon what full feels like after the bypass, once you get to solid foods. I had 3 ounces of sliced beef for lunch and I had to stop at 2 ounces. It always feels like my chest and/or stomach will explode if I continue. If I don't stop, i.e. I ignore the pressure... I would then get the foamies or a terrible runny nose and congestion. 14. Yes it is so hard! Much better after a couple months and you are on a “regular” diet, at the same time seeing the pounds drop each week!
  15. I am doing better today I think. Still feel full all the time but at the moment I dont feel like puking from being so full lol. Ive got to change my mindset to yours.....not going to worry about it just do what I can. I am so ready to be off liquids but have another week to go.

    Hi everyone

Hello and welcome in the forum, Congrats on your weight loss so far. Yes its very normal to not feel hungry. The part of your stomach that sends the hungry signals has been cut away. Until it heals and knits together we are in happy land. I am 2 weeks shy of six months out and I still never feel hungry. We are the lucky ones. It must feel awful to be hungry and only eat tiny amounts or have to suffer shakes that go straight out of the stomach.
  17. Had my RNY on March 22, 2022, very happy where I’m at in over a month and a half, I’ve lost 60lbs, and now able to wear shorts I haven’t worn for 6 years. Thank god I saved them haha. anyways, my question is is it normal to just not feel hungry, I get my protein and fluids in everyday as well as my vitamins but I have to force my self to eat something. Been on soft foods for 2 weeks and have 4 weeks to go but I just do not feel hungry at all. What can I do? Is it normal?

    5 Weeks Post-Op

Totally the same! I am 5 weeks post op - I can eat so much more than others on this forum! Today, we had a shared lunch at church - I had one large sausage roll (minus the pastry casing), 3 tbsp of tuna pasta salad, 3 tbsp bulgar wheat salad, the full topping of a large slice of veggie pizza and a keto brownie. The worrying thing is... I didn't feel restriction. 😲I only stopped because I felt I should. Does anyone here think that a person's height and frame size has an effect on this?

    Liver shrinking DIET pre-RNY

Good luck, Mariann! It is exciting to know your surgery date is getting closer! That does seem like a long time to do the pre-op diet, but on the plus side, if you get really hungry, you could actually eat something substantial as long as it is prior to two weeks from your actual surgery date. I guess it will be good practice! I lost 12 pounds during my 2 week pre-op which was awesome because it put my right back into ONEderland! lol - I hear your frustration about the office foodies. Before my VSG it was a daily battle to stay away from all of the workplace snacks. Now when I look at the jars of candy and trays of donuts all I can think is how miserable I was after eating that stuff and how much better I feel now

    Throwing up

So i had issues with my horse pill sized Calcium pill (that i had to take 3 times a day!) I would make me nauseous and/or barf. Cutting it up smaller or crushing it somehow made the ickiness worse. Then i stared burying that effing pill in a tablespoon of greek yogurt and swallowing the spoonful and that did trick. Took me almost 2 months to figure this out though. But then I discovered those chocolate calcium soft chews and Calcium Vitamin Time became a good time of day lol

    Gas and bloating

Thats a little odd. i am 3 weeks PO and my #2's are the most solid thing in the world that its painful to go number 2 lol. Doctor prescribed stool softeners which i take but dont seem to do much. Try taking GASX

    Throwing up

I am 3 weeks post op and the only thing that causes me issues are vitamins. So far the trick i have learned with that is i take it and quickly go to bed with a ice pack on my head and try to sleep a little. Takes about 15-20 minutes for me to feel that vitamin and i start to feel nausea but it passes and i do fine. If i stayed up and awake i would throw up

    my dinner

Wouldn't this be a meal for when you move to solids? I'm surprised your stomach will let you have it 3 weeks out. I can't even take my pills without being miserable for half the day.
  25. Hop_Scotch

    Is this normal?

Sounds like acid reflux. Assuming you are already on medication for acid reflux (most people need to take it for about two to four weeks post op), check with your surgeon/doctor whether you need something a little stronger for a while.
