I was sleeved July 21 and am having a really hard time the last few days. I have been an emotional wreck. Having a hard time with everything. I have no appetite and could care less if I eat or not and everything I put in my mouth makes me want to gag and vomit. Protein has been impossible for me to handle because the smell of it makes me want to hurl my toe nails up. The only thing that I have been able to tolerate is soft serve frozen yogurt and cottage cheese and sonic ice chips with lime. After I eat anything I feel as if I am having a major anxiety attack. I get all sweaty with a heavy feeling in my chest and stomach and feel like I can't breath. Is this normal or am I really going crazy??

I'm currently 4 days post-op and this has been one wild ride! Does anybody else have a problem knowing whether or not you're hungry? My stomach is making growling noises, but when I have one of my doctor approved 'meals' (ie- yogurt) my stomach revolts! It reminds me of a 2 year old who is stubbornly holding her mouth shut and refusing to eat! I feel like I should be making airplane noises with the spoon to tempt it.... Also, did anybody else find that sweet things like sugar/fat free pudding are now absolutely disgusting? I can literally feel my stomach twitching and contorting when I try and have some. Yeah, this should make my job rather interesting...(I'm a cake decorator). So, do ya'll have any interesting food 'issues' now post surgery?

What does a day in your eating life look like?
Daveo replied to rvan09's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well since my last Dr. appt. I was told to increase my Protein. So now it consists of one Protein Drink in the morning/some kind of meat at work (depends on what crap they make)/ Cottage cheese and peaches for snack/ Soup of the day at work for dinner. When I get home it is another Protein shake and a yogurt. I am still having a hard time eating meat, I honestly would become a Vegetarian if I wanted to put that much effort into it. But that is why I am at two shakes a day. That pretty much sums up my typical meal plan for a day. -
stuck at a plateau...VERY fraustrated!!

I was banded 9 months ago and have lost 55lbs!! I have went from a size 20 to a size 14!!:glare: However, for the last 3 weeks or so, I have not lost a single pound. I go for a fill in 3 weeks.....which seems SO far away:thumbdown: I only need to lose 6 more pounds and I will be in ONEderland for the first time in FOREVER!! I also leave for a family trip to Disney World in 4 weeks.....my goal was to be under 200lbs by then....im so close....just STUCK!! I have a membership to your local YMCA. I go 5 days a week. I do the treadmill every morning for 45 - 55 minutes.... i jog the first 1/2 mile or so, then fast walk another 2 miles for a total of 2 - 3 miles. Then at night I go back to the Y for either Water Aerobics or Spinning Class. My band is at great restriction. Not sure if its at the perfect restriction yet?!?! I watch what I eat....and am very careful not to end up PB'ing. My diet ususally consists of a liquid Breakfast (band is SO tight in the mornig), a lean cuisine for lunch, then a small meal for dinner...usually whatever my family is eating. I seldom snack...if i do, its usually just a yogurt with granola, or a Jello or pudding cup. I dont know what I am doing wrong. Is anyone else having this same thing happen to them? I would appreciate ANY suggestions you have! Should I exercise more?? Should I add calories?? Eat less calories?? BTW...i usually eat between 800-900 calories a day. Maybe thats just not enough and I should eat more!!! Thanks for letting my vent!! Keep your fingers crossed that my scale starts moving!! -
First, you shouldn't compare yourself to anyone's weight loss. I had my surgery September of last year and I know folks who have lost more than me who had their surgery 6 months after. Does it bother me? Nope. Because I know that I'm losing at the pace that's right for my body... If you're doing everything correctly and following the rules, you're body will act accordingly. Don't stress over others weight loss. You'll set yourself up for failure As far as the feeling in your esophagus, that's what I like to call a soft stop. It's my band telling me to prepare to stop eating. LOL. It happens more with denser food, like chicken or steak or dryer food. I don't get it as much when I eat slider food like yogurt or cottage cheese. When I get that feeling, I start to take smaller bites in between longer periods of time or I just stop eating. It really matters how much I've eaten. If I didn't get the calories in that I plan for that meal, I may take longer to eat by doing what I just said. Another soft stop signal is hiccuping. You should be very proud of yourself and your weight loss.. Don't beat yourself up because it's not coming off fast. Sometimes slower is better because your getting your body used to eating the correct way. Take care, Julia

I've started the pureed phase of my diet and I'm having a hard time incorporating protein unless it's a greek yogurt or protein shake. I can tolerate a scrambled egg, but that's about it. The thought of pureed meat grosses me out. I work in a nursing home and that's all I can think of. What can I do? I need more variety in my life. Sent from my SM-G930V using BariatricPal mobile app

7 Days post-op..in need of some reassurance!!
koolkel replied to aberghorn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Especially be careful with the carbs! I couldn't have them until this week and I'm still avoiding them( my weakness!) When making tuna, use use fat free plain Greek yogurt in place of mayo to increase protein. You can purée that! -
what are you eating 2 months out?
twobluecats replied to hope4204's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I will be eight weeks out on Monday. I am cleared for any food I want, but I still stay away from bread, pasta, and rice. I limit my carbs to 30-40ish a day, and my calories average between 650-800. I am getting anywhere from 70-100 grams of protein, and I drink my 64 ounces of fluid. Dense beef, and even ground beef sometimes is harder for me to enjoy. I eat a lot of chicken, greek yogurt, deli cuts of meat, cheeses, tuna fish, any fish or shellfish, chili, eggs. I have a few reduced fat wheat thins(eight) when I have tuna fish, but I don't add intentional carbs very often. I get plenty from my dairy intake. I still have a Premier Protein Drink from costco every few mornings as it's packed with 30 grams of protein and helps me on days when I'm uncertain what the rest of my meals will look like. I use myfitnesspal.com to track my meals each day. -
Don't feel full?
Daenerys Targaryen replied to reeniemay's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I had no problem when I started eating thicker things like scrambled eggs, yogurt, hummus, etc everything went down fine. My surgeon makes bigger pouches. She makes them 4oz at surgery instead of two, so maybe that's the reason for not ever feeling full or satisfied? I'm measuring an only eating 2-3 ounces just to be conservative. -

No restriction, yet there is hornking
ReadyOrNot replied to GoddessNar's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Every doctor is a lot different is what I'm finding, I was on 1 week of liquids (including cream Soup and pudding), then 1 week of mushies (including eggs, yogurt, soft cooked veggies), then 1 week of soft Proteins (tuna, canned chicken), then 1 week of more solid proteins, then back to a normal diet. I find it amazing how much this varies from doctor to doctor, I would think it would be pretty standard throughout but that is definitely not the case. I also didn't have to do the 2 week liquid diet before, not even the day before, just couldn't eat after midnight. Very strange! Not that I'm complaining though... -
I can not believe how excited i am to add yogurt! Woo hoo!
-
Has anyone experimented with this yet? You basically take plan greek yogurt a packet of steevia and a half scoop of a protein powder. Mix and freeze...It sounds delish..

I have Frozen Yogurt once and a while. I will load it up with fruit and and if they have a sugar free flavors available I always opt for that.

I just went back and reread your post.....did you have yogurt and cream of wheat at the same time?.....I assumed you meant two different meals....I can just barely get a whole yogurt down.....I don't eat things like cream of wheat because I'm staying away from carbs while I'm in the weight loss phase. -
I still try to drink a Protein shake (usually as a protein coffee) every day, to boost my protein intake. So tubs of Syntrax nectar are just a part of my life now. I eat hard boiled eggs almost every day. I also eat cheese sticks and vanilla greek yogurt a few days a week. I go through stints where I eat Jerky like it's going out of style. Oh, and for snacking? I love me some smoked paprika roasted chickpeas or sriracha chickpeas - or even some wasabi peas if I'm splurging. I eat half a portion size but feel like I just binged on a bag of chips after that small snack. I usually make a double batch and they keep nicely in an airtight container with a layer of paper towels to absorb moisture. Yum! ~Cheri

kradtke5 replied to jennylew's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My NUT has me on 60g of protein a day. So in my eyes, you're doing great. I started to water down my Greek yogurt with a little milk, works great. -
What can I eat in mushies??
Tiffykins replied to Barbie_70's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Soft food should be the consistency of a thick liquid ( no chunks or solid material ) and it should be chewed very well before swallowing until it is a liquid consistency ) Tofu Low fat cottage cheese Cereal oatmeal Precooked pureed rice Low fat Yogurt Yogurt mixed with fruit very well blended Cream Soups eggs Boiled pureed fruit ( example pear, apple ) Watermelon, papaya or melon in small pieces Boiled pureed vegetables Beans In addition to those items, I could have blended chicken, tuna, egg salads. Also, blended chili with beans, refried breans (pinto beans, black beans) all slow cooked in the crock pot. -

Sleeved in Seattle replied to kim2002's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm eating a 1/2 cup of Fage 0% yogurt with 2 scoops of Syntrax unflavored Protein powder, a tsp. or two of unsweetened soy milk and a bit of Equal to give it all a bit of sweetness. (Not looking forward to getting my sweet tooth back!) -

Swallowing Pills - any suggestions
Bufflehead replied to Kimbalina's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had my sleeve surgery on 4/13/16. So I'm almost 2 mo. out. Glad to finally make it to eating almost all foods. Here are some things that have caused slight problems. anyone else experience this. Hard to get these to move through stomach: --swallowing pills (even after cutting in half) --Fiber foods like cereals (raisin bran, Kashi) --whole grain oatmeal --crackers When you say "move through the stomach" what do you mean? Do you throw them up? Do they make you feel sick? How do you know they are "not moving through the stomach"? If you have a serious condition like gastroparesis, you should consult a doctor. Side note, I never touched cereals of any kind, or crackers, or any other thing with grain until I hit my goal weight. That stuff will not help you lose weight IMO. Also my weight loss has slowed. What helps most: exercise drinking lots of Water eating less, and only eating Protein and frozen veg eating NO sweets or Desserts The last two. Exercise is not terribly helpful when it comes to losing weight. As they say, the battle for weight loss is won in the kitchen, not in the gym. http://www.vox.com/2016/4/28/11518804/weight-loss-exercise-myth-burn-calories Focus on eating protein, green veggies, and healthy fats such as small amounts of nuts, olive oil, grass fed butter, etc. High carb foods like fruit and dairy should be in moderation and IMO stay away from sweets, grains, and high carb veggies such as potatoes. I try to eat yogurt with fruit when i want something sweet. Be careful about amounts and types of fruit and yogurt -- stick with Greek yogurt without much added sugar and lower carb fruits like berries and peaches (tropical fruits such as bananas and mangoes have tons of carbs and sugars). Also I have resumed drinking coffee in a.m. but not sure how to do it since you can't eat and drink at same time. So is it best to have a cup of coffee and wait 1 hr before Breakfast. Or to eat something first thing like an egg cooked, then wait an hr before having coffee? My plan doesn't call for waiting an hour before and after food for drinking, only waiting for 30 minutes after food for drinking. I love my coffee too much to wait! If I had to follow your plan, I would drink my coffee first, wait, then eat. But I think whatever works better for you is fine. Good luck! -
What Is The Craziest Thing You've Blended In Order To Eat During Mushee Phase?
windycitymom replied to windycitymom's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Great Ideas folks! at the end of the day, I am sticking to Mashed Potatoes and yogurt and Peanut Butter I can't wait to eat again (in my mind) and it really has been a lesson in 21 days of head hunger and noticing that my tummy can take it or leave it -
Thank you. Protein is kicking my butt. I struggle not bcuz I dislike it but more bcuz I can't chug it. Before my surgery I would just kept drinking bcuz I wanted to get it over with it. Lol. Just like with yogurt. Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app

I don't have any saline in my band- My dr. does a fill on weeks 4-6- so I wonder how everyone did on those weeks w/o a fill and felt hunger for actually food- not broth!!!! It is probably "head hunger"
