I recently started using granola in my yogurt. Tastes great and I have no problem with it. I am 3 months post op.

I will be two weeks out tomorrow so it hasn't been an issue yet. I am lacto ovo so I am planning on lots of eggs, cottage cheese and Greek yogurt. I've been a vegetarian for two years but I do find myself really craving a McDonalds chicken sandwich!

Liquid Diet - What Yogurt Is The Best?
Joiebean replied to Stacey Nicole's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oikos has this key lime flavor that I absolutely love. Its the full fat kind, but I can't eat the whole cup anyway and I really can't stand the taste of artifical sweetner anymore. If I must, I'll mix 1/2 fat free vanilla with 1/2 of the key lime, to cut back on the calories. Be careful with the yogurt though, even greek yogurt (which I love and its the only kind I eat now.) While it is a great source of protein while you are in the liquid phase, I think its what caused me to go into a stall. I've just started eating it again at 2months out. -
I just bought 1/2 cup of Greek from the local yogurt shop-83 calories, 7 grams of protein! A little sour but I will try with fruit or some sugar-free syrup!

K- I too am always on the run... 4 boys 5-17 yrs and we live an hour from the closest town. I've tried the Zone protein bars, Detour protein bars and a couple others. The ThinkThin bars work/taste the best for me. I also carry Almonds, Peanuts in the Shell, String Cheese, Greek yogurt, and LOTS of Water (w/mio)! When in a pinch I have had a McD grilled chicken snack wrap- no sauce, and I throw away most of the wrap. Hope this helps!

I bought some rage yogurt but there is no taste to me so I have to put something else in there.

Also, if you live near a Kroger, they make Carb Master yogurt and it is delicious and comes in many different flavors

I can get plenty of protein in at meals but the only really high protein snack I've come up with is Greek yogurt with s scoop if protein powder in it...then I divide it in two and have two snacks each with 18 grams of protein. BUT I'm at my breaking point with yogurt now...the sight if it makes my stomach turn. Any suggestions for other high protein snacks??

At 8 months post RNY I've realized I need to keep better track of my nutrients. I've written all of my food in a journal since surgery but haven't tracked nutrients for several months. Started tracking on My Fitness Pal and found I'm over....way over, where I should be. I've always struggled with making satisfying low calorie, low fat meals, apparently I still do. Now that I have quantity under better (not perfect) control my next hurdle is meal planning for optimum health. I'd love to see how others do it. It being eating 60-100 grams of Protein and 60-100 grams of carbs while staying satisfied and eating whole, less processed foods. If you do it dairy free even better....yogurt, cottage cheese, milk and I have issues. Please, please, please share your daily menus with me! If you use MFP and have journaled your diet and are willing to share it please friend me, my username is Goodnuff there too. Thanks.

So the omelet I had the other day with Beans and cheese was not good for me to have based on this report. I wish they would have said more about what kind of digestive troubles. Because in this phase in my diet, that is what I am allowed to eat. "Beans with milk, eggs, cheese, yogurt, meat and fish. Although these combinations are common in some Latin American cuisines, it’s possible that their eaters’ bodies have become accustomed or adapted to these combinations. Nonetheless it’s not a reason to continue, and the unhabituated might experience digestive troubles." The other combines not to eat made sense to me.

I always have a low sugar, higher protein yogurt with 1/4 cup of Fiber One mixed in. I get some protein (9g) plus a little fiber without many carbs.

I need some breakfast ideas before work that don't include eggs, yogurt or protein drinks. Any ideas?
-
I use Fage or Chobani plain greek yogurt and add the no sugar added delmonte fruit cups (like peaches or pears) or fresh fruit

So dannon light and fit now has a greek yogurt as well. It has same flavorings as their regular yogurt but it has more protein, like 12 grams. Again it is sweetened mostly with natural sugars from the fruit so should not cause dumping.

How Do You Make Your Meal Plan More Interesting?
LynnAlex replied to Alex Brecher's topic in Food and Nutrition
I pretty much eat a lot of what I did before, just in much smaller portions. I don't eat as much fruit as before. I could kill a cantelope or a container of strawberries in one sitting. I could make a walnut/oatmeal/blueberry/greek yogurt with FF milk of about 1500 calories and eat it in 2 hours. I have my healthy favorites and look on-line or in my healthy cookbooks every couple of weeks for something new. I am a creature of habit. I mostly order whatever I want when I go out to eat and just eat 2 oz of the insides of a buritto, or pick the meat off an entree. I'll order an omelet and short stack of pancakes and eat 4 bites of eggs and 1 bite of pancake and toss the rest. Sometimes I'll see where another member has posted something that looks good and I'll make it. -
Ok so I stayed home from work today because I felt horrible in the morning (have my period). I've been so bored all day and I've found myself snacking... Mostly healthy like chicken breast or fruit or Greek yogurt... But then I had about 7 saltine crackers. I know I did it out of boredom and head hunger... I have food in the house that I'm supposed to eat... But I couldn't make myself stop! Now I'm completely full I guess what I'm asking is is it ok to mess up every now and then?

Starting Pureed Food Need Suggestion With High Protein
Dooter replied to Jlo77's topic in Food and Nutrition
I was having some Laughing Cow Light swiss wedges with peanut butter. Sometimes I'd even stir them together. It's really good. It's the right texture for your stomach without having to actually blend anything. Also, the same cheese with 1/4 avocado is great too. It has important Omega 3's. Gooood stuff. Decent protein too. I also agree with the Greek yogurts. Very high in protein. Some are better than others, so don't give up on them if you try one you don't like. -
I had written before that I was experiencing severe stomach pains. That whole week I had started eating a low fat yogurt and 1/2 a banana for breakfast. A friend suggested that I stop eating the banana. MIRACLE! The pains stopped the next day. I had never had problems with bananas before, and don't know what caused the reaction this time, but my pain is gone. Has anybody else come across this situaltion with bananas or any other food?

Congrats on the slice and dice  I actually really enjoyed my broth while still in the hospital. It was a little harder at home to find one that I really liked. I did sugar free Jello, but sugared popcicles. When I moved onto mushies I had regular pudding and yogurt. I didnt have any problems...

Hi. I really like Chobani fat free yogurt (with fruit esp. Raspberry) with a couple tablespoons of Vanilla Whey protein powder and splendra. Really great protein level. Instant oatmeal is really high in salt and sugar and is high in carbs with very low protein.

I'm just venting here because I have to do something else besides walking into the kitchen one more time. I'm two weeks post -op and back at work for the third day, and now I totally resent that my office has snacks in the kitchen. I work for a small software company where there's always chips, snacks, fruit, candy, etc in the kitchen. I'm one week into the puree stage, so I can't go and eat the fruit, which would be my choice. I absolutely hate that this food is available. I did so much better post-op when I was home for 10 days. This just sucks. I'm not even hungry, seriously. Not at all. However, those damn reeces mini eggs look so good. It's a head problem on my side, which I'm aware of. I chewed a stick of gum and that helped. I also know salty foods are my trigger. This has to get easier as the days go on, and in a few days I can move to soft solids like tuna and chicken salad which will help. The sad thing is that I have greek yogurt and some mashed bananas ready to eat, as well as a protein shake. But, I'm sitting on here obsessing about the damn reeces. So now I have to say: F U office snacks; we have to break up. I'll come up with an elaborate story on how you cheated on me to tell my friends about it. FYI: You all reading this who think I'm a little nutty; you'll soon get my humor. It's dry and sarcastic and a tad over the top Cheers, Carrie

I've been having some difficulty getting my head wrapped around eating healthy the lap band way. I've been on Weight Watchers and thought I knew how to eat healthily. I had always been successful on WW and lost 40 - 50 pounds but could never keep it off. Anyways when I told my dietician what I was eating she said that I was making poor choices. I like the Yoplait thick and creamy light yogurt. She said it has too much sugar. I like apple and cinnamon instant oatmeal. She also said this has too much sugar. I ate both of these items on WW and lost weight. I want to go grocery shopping and get some better choices. SO please tell me what you eat. I need Breakfast ideas, snack ideas, what staples do you keep in the house? thanks !!!! Jeannine
