    incision pain!

Mine looked pretty much like yours. I had one bigger incision that had quite a bit of bruising around it, and it took almost 4 weeks for that bruise to go away completely. I think it is normal.

    Getting Ahead Of Myself

Wow- 8 weeks until solids is a really long time. I spent one week on full liquids, one week on mushies then solids. I had no problems. However, I agree with others who are saying to call and check with your doctor before advancing your diet. Good luck!
  3. Wow I don't see my surgeon till 2 weeks post op! Funny to see all the different orders from different surgeons on these forums
  4. I’m almost three weeks post op and I am having the hardest time sleeping. It takes me forever to fall asleep and then I keep waking up in the mid of the night- wide awake. I’ve been taking 10mg of Ambien, but even then it doesn’t work for me like it did prior to surgery. Is anyone else having sleep issues and does anyone know why??? I know I’m having pain and have a hard time getting comfortable, but that can’t be the entire reason for this erratic sleep pattern.
  5. Immediately after I was walking. At two weeks I was swimming & at on month I was cut loose on weights & cardio!
  6. I started walking the day of surgery and never looked back. I walk every day. Now, I'm up to walking 1-40 minute session and 1-30 minute session per day--that's over 2 miles per day which sounds wussy, but is HUGE for me. At 6 weeks I was released to do strength training and I began in PT again to help me build core strength and endurance in preparation to working with someone to help me with a strength training (weights) plan. I have no limitations.

    Nausea

I'm not sure why the nausea would still be with you 4 weeks post-op. Maybe call the surgeon's office to ask and maybe get a prescription for nausea medication. It also seems odd that you haven't lost any pounds in 4 weeks. It usually falls off like crazy immediately after surgery. Maybe mention that to your doctor as well. Are you going to the bathroom okay?
  9. I started more walking yesterday, but will wait a few weeks before I do anything more high impact. I am hoping to do a little light weeding/gardening next week, and might even be able to squeeze in a light-weight fishing session in the next few weeks (no heavy surf fishing for at least 3 months for me though).
  10. I am 3 months out almost on 15th and including liquid diet week bf surgery have lost total 65 lbs. my starting weight 350- now 285 . I feel like my appetite is coming back, I'm nervous that I will not continue to lose. what are you stats and what advice can you give to keep me in check?
  11. Was supposed to have my surgery 3 days from now on Monday 8/12/19. Found out this morning that my TSH thyroid levels are 4.5 so my insurance is asking for additional info & follow up from my PCP. At 1st I was upset but now I feel a little relieved. My pre-op hasn’t been going as restrictive as I’d like & I can do better. Might as well be as healthy going into this as possible. Rescheduled 1 week for 8/19/19
  12. I wasn't covered by insurance ... i went to Mexico. To dr. Almanza at Jerusalem hospital . Cost me about 4000.00 plus flight. I am 7 weeks out and doing fine. Lost 28# so far.
  13. I'm so happy for you. That number is a big one for me too. I have only been under 200 once in my life, for about a week. Congrats on your success, I can't wait fr people to not recognize me.....but I better take some before pictures so I can remember how I never want to be this weight again. So happy for you! Kat

Co-worker oddballs? Nightmares? Dreams come true?

Years ago I worked with a guy who talked about his fiancée ALL the time. She was a teacher, worked a second job in a downtown parking garage, they did this last weekend, they were going to do that next weekend, etc, etc, etc. One Monday morning he called in and told our boss that the fiancée had died over the weekend - suddenly, unexpectedly, just fell down dead. The autopsy report would not be available for a couple of months, but he was calling from somewhere in Oklahoma (her hometown) and would not be back for a week or so. Terrible! Tragic! Even though I did not like the guy, you had to feel sorry for him. We wanted to send flowers but had no clue where to send them. All we knew was her name. So we called the school district, figuring they would know where/when the funeral was. No such teacher.....never heard of her. We called the bank downtown, whose parking garage she supposedly worked in part time. Not surprisingly, they had never heard of her, either. Phantom girlfriend, evidently. A total figment of this guy's imagination. Why he decided to kill her off is anyone's guess. Our boss managed to reach him via his home phone a couple of days later and we never saw the weirdo again. More recently, I had an assistant - a tiny young woman who was maybe 4' 8" and weighed 75 pounds. She was in the process of getting a divorce from a guy who was a cross-dresser. They had been married 6 or 7 years and she had some WEIRD vacation pictures, let me tell you. That's the only time he got himself up in drag (on vacations) because they lived in a fairly small community and he was a rather prominent businessman. I'm thinking she probably got everything she wanted in the divorce, and then some. But she was strange, too. We fired her after discovering that instead of taking our bulk mail to the post office, she was throwing it in a dumpster.

    Ulcers?

I am just a little over 7 weeks post-op. I went to the surgeon's office yesterday - been having terrible pain the last several days when eating and/or drinking anything, including plain water. In between, it basically felt like someone had punched me in the guy, or that sore stomach feeling you get after throwing up a lot. The PA put me on a new PPI (dexilant) and also something called sucralfate which is supposed to coat the painful areas and allow them to heal. Has anyone else had this happen? If so, how long did it take for you to feel better?
  16. Mine was 4 protien shakes, broth, sugar fee jello and sugar free pudding, that's it. Two weeks.
  17. It says the shakes and salad for the first week. They give an example of a salad and it lists a bunch of different veggies so I figured, why not heat them up. LOL
  18. I have AZ BCBS and I went to my last MSW visit on 2/14, called the surgeon on 2/17 to make sure she had my paperwork and we could get the insurance approval process moving. We scheduled me for 3/15 and received my insurance approval the same day as my pre op appointment on 3/6. I feel as though I got lucky with my approval process, I hope others have the same luck!!!

    Am I becoming bulemic?

We are the same height and almost the same staring weight(I was 330) but my goal is to be no more than 180 or 200 lbs. I could live with being a size 16 but not eating so little the rest of my life. Like you, I do want to eat like regular people or close to them and not like a bird. As for the slimes, I all too well understand!!! Hubby thinks the same thing as yours and I tell him at least I am not hungry or have a feeling of depriving myself. Please don't tell me my 4oz stomach will always be a 1/2 egg and strip of bacon meal I was hoping I would be able to eat a bit more. Maybe I should have agreed to the larger sleeve like my coordinator. Why have you stalled? My doc said I should see at least a 150 pound loss. I will be happy to see 100 but no less. I would consider it a failure and hate that I didn't have the DS like I wanted...

    hate your job?

my work place is not good. staff has been cut to where we all have to do the job 3 employees were doing 4 years ago. We are under a lot of pressure and not spoken to nicely if everything does not get done. but, I keep applying for other things, and in the meantime I get up and come in. It has been so miserable that my husband and I have written out a 2 year plan to where if he gets an expected promotion this summer we will start ticking things off the list and once complete I will quit and go home if I have not found something I like doing. Hoping in my 5 year plan will be grandchildren (please) who live close enough for me to keep them during the day so their parents won't need daycare. We'll see. my only grandboy right now lives in Arkansas - but with 6 grown children someone closer is bound to get the urge to have children sooner or later! two are engaged at least, that gives me hope.
  22. I've read about this topic before. I was going to go with just my DL&BC. Changed my mind - we're getting Passport Cards which I think take about 2 weeks. I don't want to get stuck in Mexico.

    Stalled

You probably will not like this answer but stalls are normal. I would first make sure your eating and exercise habits have not changed. If they are the same then you body is just in a adjustment time. I have had several stalls. Some short and some as long as 1 1/2 months. The longest one was just recent and I had lost a lot of weight....I knew my body was adjusting. That being said I always lose inches during a stall on the scale. Try not to panic the scale will move again. Best Wishes to you...
  24. Well at this time I decided not to appeal with a attorney ..... I called my PCP and asked him to review my blood work and see if I was border line on any of my labs like blood pressure or cholesterol.... He said my cholesterol was borderline so I asked him of he could write a letter stating that and how it runs in the family..... So I called the bariatric program and tried to enroll again but they say it needs to be a medicated cormorbitity.... So I'm waiting for my dr letter to see if he stated its medicated ..... I've been calling everyday so see of he has written that letter and he hasn't.... It's been 2 weeks. Grrrrr I see my surgeon Monday was hoping to have it by then. But guess that was to much to ask. So I'm playing the waiting game like always! So I've been dealing with this for NINE months now. Hoping all the stress and waiting pays off soon.....
