    Say what?!

For me, I will not accept 1 percent of fat more than what my ideal weight is, which is 140-145. I am 5'7" and that weight puts me a little higher than smack dab in the middle of normal weight. I did not have this surgery to accept less. I don't care what any doctor or nutritionist says. It's my goal. I still remember what I looked like at 155 lbs and I had at least 10 more pounds to go to get to the weight I'm supposed to be at. I won't settle for less. My NSVs include getting my health back and being able to work out like I used to; to go hiking when I want; to be able to do my career with the most versatility. But I will not budge on that weight, because I KNOW I will get there. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    NSV Christmas baking..

Over the weekend I made baked goods to give away as gifts. In total I made 30 dozen Cookies, 20 mini lemon pound cakes, 7 dozen chocolate nut clusters, and 2 trays of peppermint bark. I was proud of myself because I only ate 2 cookies. never really I would have eaten soooo many more. It felt really good to have control over my sweet tooth right now! I feel like my mentality about eating better is one that will help me have life long success this time! I'm excited for the future! HW (10/31/15): 540 SW (5/29/16): 480 CW (12/21/16): 341 I'm so close to 200 pounds down!!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    NSV!

I'm down 40 pounds, and almost to my 1st goal. According to my BMI, I'm still considered overweight but if I don't lose another pound, I will be just as content. Had an awesome NSV last week. Was talking to a stranger outside and was shivering from the cold. I had never met this person before so they had no idea what I looked like pre-sleeve and he said "well of course your cold, you're too skinny not to be"! First time in my life I've ever been called skinny!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  5. Hi everyone. I've been posting a lot lately but I just wanted to share my very first NSV!! I travel regularly and need to use a seat belt extender while on a flight for about the past year or so. This weekend I took two flights, one on them those teeny tiny planes, and both times I didn't need a seat belt extender!!!!! The seatbelt is still a little bit snug but I'm soooo excited! I got my sleeve just two weeks ago on 12/5! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  7. There are some people who know I have had this surgery, and have been with me the whole way on my weight loss journey. With the exception of a very few, the people at our church are not in that group. This is mainly because I do not know most of them very well, and discussing my personal health choices is not my idea of creating that kind of bond. So this morning I am sitting in the Sunday morning service. For many, many years, I have dressed pretty much the same, wearing a nice pair of pants, and a low key Hawaiian style shirt. This type of shirt is not only good for hiding my rotundity, it also does a good job of hiding my personal defense accessory, which goes with me everywhere it is legal to go. So far I have lost 114 lbs, and have gone through several shirt sizes. I was wearing a new one today, and it fit just a little shorter than the previous ones I had been wearing for years. As we stood up to sing the second hymn, I reached down to tug my shirt into its proper place, just like they do on Star Trek. To my horror, as I reached around to pull it down in back, I felt about 1 1/2" of holster sticking out below the hem. And as things go, the woman who sits behind me EVERY Sunday is in a wheelchair, so she has an up close and detailed view of my nether regions. Sure enough, as I was sitting back down, I felt a tap tap tap on my shoulder. "Oh, great", I thought. "Here we go!" I twisted around in my pew to face her, running through what I was going to have to say to keep her from either going off on me, or quaking in fear. "Wow, you've really lost a lot of weight! How'd you do that?" My relief was palpable. I thought quickly. "I stopped eating!" She locked eyes with me, and started laughing, nodding her head all the while. So now I am wondering. Did she see my holster, or was she so taken with my new semi svelte appearance that it went by the wayside? I am not keen to find out just yet. But, this is a NSV in that someone outside my circle of those in the know, and who sees me on a regular basis, noticed that I don't block as much of her view of the pulpit anymore.
  8. Yes. A longer, healthier and happier life, more NSVs than you could shake a stick at, better self esteem, comorbidities that are lessened or gone, etc.. My only regret is not having WLS sooner.
  9. Your story is very much the same as mine. I have lost and gained and lost and gained so many times. I used weight loss drugs, I took up running, I did it all. I can get healthy but I can't stay healthy. I have never been able to maintain it. I am a binge eater and it used to hit me out of nowhere. With my third child I got to my highest weight and decided it was enough. I had my sleeve done not to long ago and it has changed my life! It is a tool but it is a tool that stays with you for life and I just know it's going to work for me this time. I know I have to change my relationship with food and I am working on that daily so I am ready. I haven't weighed yet because I am only weighing once a month and the scale is another obsession of mine that I won't be controlled by ever again. I track my food and rely on NSV'S and I have had lots of them! Wishing you much good luck on your journey whatever you decide!

    From size 22 to 10 !

Congratdulations! I bet you feel fantastic. Happy NSV
  11. I just quit weighing with the exception of once a month because the scale makes me crazy! I track, I exercise moderately, and I focus on NSV'S. scales are evil! I'm almost one month out so I will be weighing soon. Scary!! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using the BariatricPal App
  12. Saw my best friend first time since September. Had surgery 10-3 we met at David's bridal she walked past me didn't know it was me til I turned around and said oh my goodness you've lost a lot of weight. Mind you she knew about surgery we just hadn't seen each other. Buying a bra 2 sizes smaller. Coat I bought in January I pulled out. Could put 2 of me in it I think. Ready for Christmas party Friday wearing a red dress 3 sizes smaller this Christmas. Best of all, I didn't do it. Working third last night baked goodies, cocoa, and m&ms. Wanted them ate zero of them. Had my 4am Protein shake chocolate fix instead. Today just another shake, and my tuna for lunch and crystal light. Sent from my 5054N using the BariatricPal App

    Major NSV

I am just days away from 2 months out, but wanted to share my favorite NSV so far. I am a Type 2 diabetic who has been on Metformin for 10 years and a Bydureon non-insulin injectable for 2 years. Even while on medication my average fasting blood sugar was 140. I was taken off all medications during my pre-surgery liquid phase with the docs intention to add them back in slowly once we had a better idea of where I would be post-op. 2 months later and not only am I not on meds, but my fasting blood sugar was 85 this morning. Thank God I went forward with this surgery. If I never lose another pound this alone would be worth it.
  17. WOW, That is amazing! $10 for a hot dog lunch. Just kidding, congratulations on the amazing amount of walkingyou did and your NSVs.

    Claustrophobic &VGS

I used to be very claustrophobic. As my body got smaller, the space around me got larger and most of my claustrophobia has gone away. Weird NSV for sure.

    Disneyland NO SEATBELT EXTENDER!

WONDERFUL! I just got back from Paris Disney where everything is teeny tiny, and I could also fit comfortably into everything. Best sort of NSV are the ones that let you enjoy the magic too!

You know you are doing something right

If my sisters ins covered it I think she'd be in a program already. If I keep things going I could see her self paying. She is just so impressed with my progress. Seeing success stories, in person or on here, is a large pat of why most of us took the plunge. Your NSV is being a success.
  21. This last weekend two guy friends of mine asked me about my surgery and what they could expect because they are ready to take the plunge. I'm taking this as a great NSV. I don't post on FaceBook "I HAD WLS" but when a big buddy comes up to me and asks "how did you do it," well I'll tell them. I think they have been watching me for the last couple of years and they see the changes in my life. Now that they have tried WW and other things and it's just not working for them they are coming to the same conclusion I did over two 1/2 years ago. Thanks to this site I can share with them a wealth of experiences, share knowledge and insights. But ultimately I think it is the "life style" evangelism of renewed health and energy which pushed them over the top.. Am I the only one, or has anyone else had this type of experience?

    Lose weight in face?

I am losing weight sort of like @@OutsideMatchInside - from the top down. I just posted two days ago about my helmet I wear for work fitting looser, especially around my cheeks. I just hope the loss continues, and rapidly. I would hate to end up looking like a pear. http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/384197-i-guess-i-really-did-have-a-fat-head-nsv/
