iPhone autcorrected...I was asking which Chobani yogurt has 23 grams of protein?
-
I'm about 7 weeks post op and on Phase 4 of my diet. I realized last week I'm barely eating a thing. Tons of protein shakes and water. I'll have yogurt, string cheese, scrambled eggs, chicken salad that's it. I usually have three shakes food once maybe twice a day. I eat fast and am working on pacing myself. I drink tons of water. I'm afraid I drink so much my sleeve will stretch So I'm afraid to eat food because I don't want to ( In my mind) stretch it

Are you sure ..full liquids means clear liquids..because...FULL LIQUIDS>>usually means anything that is liquid...thinned Soups, protein shakes, puddings (s/f) yogurt. Call your nutrionist...Also...I have heard of 1 week clear liquids..but 2 is a lil extreme. They do sell chicken broth that has protein in it from bariatic eating...I have not tried it. Also try to stay away from processed soups like campbells...you really want chicken broth --in the clear stage. Always remember..protein first...and foremost when you are in these stages..your body needs to repair itself. Also they will make you feel full. I am finding EAS from Sams is delicious w/ 4oz of Over the Moon milk = 28g of protein and only 3 carbs...good luck One more thing..do what works for you ..while following the rules!

So, I got a speeding ticket this morning. Isn't that super awesome!! Honestly though, I was going 76 mph in a 60 mph zone, so I totally deserved it. The only thing that makes me mad about the whole thing is that that motorcycle cop is there EVERY morning and I KNOW BETTER! Oh well, it is what it is. I'm feeling much better today! The respiratory infection has faded for the most part. Jazzercise was tough last night, but I definitely felt better when it was over. It is nice to be in enough shape that I don't feel like I'm killing myself the first day back after a break! Today I'm taking it up a notch and I'm doing my 2 mile hill run at lunch and Jazzercise tonight. I only have a non-running lunch work out tomorrow (maybe the bike?) so I should be able to push it out today. I was hungry yesterday. After breakfast, it didn't take too long until I was hungry for lunch. We went to Mi Cocina to meet my parents and I was worried that I would need to eat too much. But my mom & I shared a nacho plate and I ate three nachos with sour cream and guacamole. So, not too bad. In fact, it held me until very late in the afternoon and I didn't get hungry until about 4pm when I had some greek yogurt. I was a little hungry when I went to Jazzercise, but it wasn't horrible. When I got home, I fixed goodies for dinner. (My niece's favorite meal is what she calls goodies, which is bascially a collection of snacks, like apples, pretzels, peanut butter and cheese.) I had just less than a 1/2 c of potato salad, a boiled egg, 10 crackers and 5 pieces of cheese (roughly 3 oz, I think.) I finished the potato salad and egg, but I left 2 crackers and a piece of cheese. I didn't seem to have any "restriction" in the sense that there was no issues with anything going down, however, I did have "restriction" in the sense that I was full after eating a reasonable amount of food. So, I did well yesterday. The trick is stopping when I'm full. I've not been good at that historically and is something I need to work on. So, goals for the week...drink water! And stop eating when I'm full. PS: My new item of the day that I'm wearing...electric blue flats with a row of sequence around the top. Very flirty, but practical too. Have a great day!!

Getting in the protein?
pupichupi replied to pupichupi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey Cody, I tried the half water half milk thing and it still doesn't agree with my stomach? I am going to go to GNC and get that one that everyone has been telling me about the Isopure, and see if that agrees? I really hate that I can't drink the Protein drinks as I like them specially the way I used to make them with the chocolate and i would add Peanut Butter to it, yummy!!! I do eat alot of the greek yogurts, and I have egg whites for Breakfast, so those are really good sources of protein so I will stick to doing that but we will see what else I can do? -
Getting in the protein?

I make a smoothie with a cup of plain Greek yogurt, 1/2 scoop unflavored GNC protein powder, frozen strawberries and diet cran-grape juice. Sometimes a splash of lemon or lime juice. I make them and put them in my freezer. Take them out and eat with a spoon as it thaws. I make it in the magic bullet mugs and one mug has over 30 grams of protein. I do 2 a day and they it's easy to get the rest with food. I love the quest bars too. I keep one or two in my purse all the time. -
Getting in the protein?
Baconville replied to pupichupi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The first few weeks I used a lot of unjury unflavored Protein powder in nearly everything I ate to add protein to it. I added a 1/2 scoop to Greek Yogurt, mashed potatoes, and Soup. It does get easier. Although I still rely on one Protein shake every day to meet my protein goal. Fortunately, my pouch likes protein shakes! Beleive me, it is all worth it in the end! -

My stomach growls and belches letting me know when it's empty-it kind of feels like hunger pains but a little different. Make sure you get protein in all day. As soon as my protein wears off I feel it. For me, 10 grams of protein gets me through one hour. My Premier shake has 30 grams and takes me from 6-9am every day. Greek yogurt gets me through to lunch. I hate the rumbling my tummy makes but I'm trying to use it as another tool for my success-it's my nutrient gage now. As far as craving sweets, I don't-I'm craving veggies which my tummy will not accept! Never, ever thought I'ld say that!

Ok....here goes: Hello to everyone! I was sleeved on 5/5/13. Starting weight 196, current weight 158. I love my sleeve! I have never had any kind of complication or problem. I think I could tolerate eating anything...Now, if only I liked meat I would be set. I am trying my best to eat some of the nasty stuff every day. My preferred proteins are the protein drinks like Unjury and Premier Protein in vanilla, eggs, cheese, cottage cheese and yogurt. I do like chicken breast grilled or baked (boneless and skinless) but I get tired of it. We are heaving grilled steak for dinner tonight. I hate it but will try to eat an ounce.......

Is yogurt/custards Full Liquids or Soft Foods?
9pdmnm5 replied to a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My nutritionist had yogurt on the list for soft foods. -
Rule of thumb that I was told: If you can suck it through a straw, it's a full liquid. If not, it's a soft mushie food. They do have liquid yogurt smoothies now, so that would be a full liquid. The stuff in the cups you eat with a spoon, would be a soft food.

I have trouble with shakes as well. While I don't do bars regularly, the best Protein bars are probably Quest bars, they have the most protein/fiber and very little actual sugar, although they do have sugar alcohols. You can order these online or get them from GNC or the Vitamin Shoppe. My favorite is the double chocolate chunk which is their lowest calorie bar as far as I remember. All of their bars are good and range in calories from 160 - 200. I like: S'Mores Apple Pie Double Chocolate Chunk Peanut Butter and Jelly The Cookies & cream (oreo) one is good as well but I get tired of it easily. Everyone else loves the cookie dough flavor and it is pretty good but not my favorite! The new mint chocolate one tastes like eating a stick of gum to me, so definitely not loving it! If you don't like milk-based or milkshake type shakes you might try Syntrax nectars protein powder. They have some fruit flavors (fuzzy navel, caribbean cooler) that you can mix with Water to make a juice-like drink or stir into some greek yogurt! They also have a Cappuccino flavor that I have yet to try. One thing I really have liked that I tried recently was mixing some of my pre-made shakes (Premier Protein vanilla) into any flavor of fat free, sugar free instant pudding mix (2 cups of the shakes, and one small package of pudding mix, pistachio is a fav!). So you have your own protein pudding. You could portion the mixture into individual size containers that way you could take them on the go!

String cheese is one of my faves. A girl in my support group this morning gave out a recipe that I might try. 1 Jello cup 1 greek yogurt cup (Dannon or Yoplait) 1 scoop Protein powder (use a fruity one, or an unflavored) Tiny bit of diet big red or diet sprite I dont drink cokes anymore, so I might try it with ice. Just blend it all together. I also am in love with sugar free Fudgesicles from the Schwan Man!

You actually cannot stretch your pouch however as the swelling goes down you have more room in there. also down the road, there is something that happens in which your brain allows you to eat more as well, so it is important that what you are eating is healthy and that you keep portion control in mind. I am 10.5 months post op and I can eat about a cup of food total. When you think of a cup of food, you think of it all chewed up. So if you are eating a salad you can actually eat more than will fit in a cup before chewing. As long as you are not eating longer than 30 minutes and sticking to your plan you should be just fine. There has been several studies done on whether the pouch stretches. The consensus is that it does not but we tend to get more comfortable eating more than we should. Listen to your stomach and stop when you are full, don't eat beyond that. Also watch for slider foods that make you hungry again too soon. This becomes important when the hunger hormones come back for us RNY folks. Slider foods for me are things like Soup, yogurt, pudding.....

I had my 2nd fill 3 days ago. I stayed on the liquids for a day and then slowly am trying to add soft foods. I can eat an entire yogurt, no problem . Earlier today I had a protien shake and could only drink about 3 ounces. I figured maybe I was still full from the yogurt (2.5 hours before)Tonight I tried to eat some scrambled eggs and got about 3 very small bites down, I felt horrible, it felt like something was stuck, then some came back up. I am wondering if I am too full, did I eat the wrong thing, did I eat too fast? or maybe I just need to take more time with the liquids. Is this normal? Any responses would be greatly appreciated.

Freaked out - 5 days post op and not feeling restriction w/ yogurt?
2goldengirl replied to cherryjello's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Stop freaking out, it isn't necessary. If you read theough these boards, you will find that it's very common not to feel much restriction while you're on liquids and semiliquids like yogurt. Relax. Breathe. You're fine. -
3+ month post op and eating in the morning
fourmonthspreop posted a topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Hey! I was curious if anyone is experiencing this or has experienced this in the past. I'm a little over 3 months post op and as I transition more into regular eating, I find that I CANNOT eat in the mornings to early afternoon. Like my body can't physically handle food until around 2pm. If I eat something before then it gets "stuck" or I get the slimeee and need to puke. Doesn't matter what it is, I try eggs, protein yogurt, beans, cheese, veggies, fruit, all of it gets stuck and I get nauseous for an hour or so. This has been a recent development...maybe the past month this has started. It's not a stricture because past 2 I have no issues regardless of what the food is and don't feel my restriction at night but I do get nauseous if I overdo it. So far I just drink a protein shake in the morning or just a coffee or water and then two meals past 2pm to get my calories and protein in. Idk it's so weird. Wondering why the restriction is so extreme in the morning. Sent from my SM-G975U using BariatricPal mobile app -
Tips please on starting purees
BigSue replied to WafflingWafa's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Starting purees is great! After the liquid diet, it's nice to be able to eat something resembling real food. You should mix protein powder into purees to make sure you meet your protein goal. My advice for that is to use flavored protein powder for sweet foods and unflavored protein powder for savory foods. Here's what I ate in the pureed stage: Fat-free, no sugar added Greek yogurt (vanilla yogurt + birthday cake protein powder; vanilla yogurt + chocolate protein powder + powdered peanut butter; strawberry yogurt + strawberry protein powder, etc.) Fat-free, sugar-free pudding (chocolate pudding + chocolate protein powder + powdered peanut butter; vanilla pudding + strawberry protein powder, etc.) Unsweetened applesauce + cinnamon roll protein powder Protein oatmeal + cinnamon roll protein powder Pureed refried beans + unflavored protein powder, topped with enchilada sauce + Laughing Cow cheese Pureed black bean soup + unflavored protein powder Mashed cauliflower + unflavored protein powder, topped with gravy -
GGQ, I am 14.5 months out, 8 lbs from goal. I have had 9 fills, I currently have approx 9.25 cc in a 10cc band. I would certainly do this again. I just hate I could not have done this 10 yrs ago. As I got the fills on a monthly basis, due to having restriction for about 3 weeks after each fill and as I lost wt the restriction became less. So you will reach several "sweet spots" on your journey only to search for the next one. I am probably about done, pretty tight the last 5 weeks since the last fill. Warm liquids first thing in the morning, then my prtien shake, then mushy for breakfast about 3 hrs later. then lunch and then eat 5 hrs later. The last fill has caused a full feeling not the same as before. You can bet if I do not chew, and then chew some more before swallowing that tiny morsel, it will aggrevate until i do it right. My eyes water, pain in chest, and then the slime begins. This will happen with every morsel if I DO NOT CHEW WELL. I have learned this same lesson over and over for each fill I have had since surgery. We just have to be reminded. I eat about 1/2 -3/4(pushing it) for lunch. maybe 3/4 and some ww bread. sometimes I can get a yogurt and fruit snack in in the morning, mainly just for the dairy though. I track my minutes in exercise daily. yesterday was 190, so that will happen 4 x week the other 3 days is about 100 minutes. It is work but in the long run it is worth it. The old saying "NOTHING TASTE AS GOOD AS THIN FEELS" is so very true. i have gone from a 16/18 to a 6/8 BMIis 24 I beleive. So Hang in there, be patient and make your band work for you, don't try to work around your band.. Good luck to you all new bandsters..

I was also informed that I have to do the diet all over again. The only problem I have is now I am lactose intolerant so it's going to be a little harder for me because I can't do the regular protein shakes and yogurt and things like that. Is there a place on this website that has the diet so I can plan before I go to the dr?

I had my sixth fill yesterday. It was hard earned...the doc always has a hard time finding my port and he had to poke me quite a bit to find it. Just when he was going to give up, he got it. He gave me .25cc's and then I drank the barrium...I love seeing on the tv what it feels like in my stomach. We both thought it looked good..but just for good measure I always drink some water. So, the water gurgled down nicely and I am so happy. This morning I had three bites of yogurt and I was full. It's such a great feeling. I ate a small piece of banana bread for a mid morning snack and that went down just fine...I feel like I just ate the whole loaf...that's why restriction is so awesome. Let's hope this restriction level stays for awhile and I don't need to get poked (with a needle, anyway..hee hee)again for a long time. The doc did say that he should move my port so it's not so hard to get to. Has anyone else gone through the surgery? Can you tell me your experience? Megan
