Need to get things...moving again. (TMI topic)
Whitney1968 replied to Champ715's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@ I was like you and still am some times. I am 3 months post op and sometimes it's like nothing coming out. BUT, yesterday and today, I finally took a good, hearty poop since my surgery. I'm sorry, TMI, but I kept waiting and waiting for months for it to happen I had to tell someone. LOL Where ya from, Southern Sleever? -
Need to get things...moving again. (TMI topic)
Champ715 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is one of those TMI topics but I've seen it posted here before so I thought I'd go ahead and ask. I will be three weeks post op tomorrow and have only had two bowel movements, both of which were over a week ago. I have tried a small dose of laxative, which gave me the urge to go but nothing would come out. I bought some Dulcolax stool softener last night and was able to take one (the dosage is 1-3 caplets) but it made me very nauseated. Am I over thinking this? Is this normal? Maybe I just need to up the dosage? I have been drinking a lot of milk lately for additional Calcium and Protein so today I'm sticking with just Water in hopes that helps a bit. I read about this on all the other topics but didn't quite find the answer I was looking for. I'm just wondering if I should stick with the stool softener for a while longer or if I should go ahead and call the doctor. This is the only surgery I've ever had so I'm not sure what the "norm" is. My doctor and nut didn't give me any pre-op advice on the topic either. Just wanted to get some advice from the veterans. Thanks in advance! -
I've got my Date Oct. 19, Anyone close to that?
linzlou2000 replied to Trisha213's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery was schedule to be outpatient. I went back around 7:15 and was home by 3. Today, 24 hours out---I've gotten 32 oz of liquids in and 30 grams of protein. Still sipping. I took a small nap this morning. I just got out of the shower and settled again. Thought I would take a nap, but I don't feel tired. I'm still dealing with trapped gas. It is all in my upper chest/shoulders. I thought it was gone, but I was wrong. I also have a pain with one of my incisions. It's like my stomach is so heavy, it's pulling it down (TMI). Stupid, hanging down stomach! Overall, things are okay. -

Really Struggling Post-Surgery-Need Help!
blueyedpryncess posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi everyone! I'm 18 days post-op and I'm having some problems. I can barely get 30oz of fluids in a day, I'm on soft foods & can't get 4oz down at a meal, I choke trying to swallow my regular medications & I constantly feel sick, nauseous, weak, throat feels almost like it's swollen or I have a sore throat & I have poops occasionally! (Sorry if that's TMI)! Talk to the doctor's office & they just keep saying it will pass. Any suggestions? Anyone feeling anything similar? -
Anyone having surgery in Oct ?
doggiedaddy replied to Jenaenae84's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Same here... I've been doing great and then quickly became bloated and uncomfortable... could not even pass gas. I took some miralax, but needed something immediate... Resorted to glycerin suppositories (I know, yuck and tmi, so sorry!) and it helped almost immediately... I was miserable last night but much better today! -
Banded 2 Days Ago - Hiccups?
gin765 replied to gin765's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Great tip on the pillow! I've also been coughing up a bunch of mucus too from sinus drainage (I know, TMI!). The pillow just made that more bearable. I think the buffet of operating room antibiotics finally cured my sinus infection too. Lap-Band bonus! -
October 12th surgery
Astrosgirl replied to Astrosgirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
(Warning TMI)Has anyone else experienced the constipation?!? I was doing great! Very minimal pain, able to move and resume light activity. Until this afternoon, I went to the restroom and I am telling you it was 1 1/2 hours of earth shattering pain! Worst feeling ever!! It was so hard and so large that I could not pass it. An enema and a lot of screaming later it finally passed some.. I had hubby run to Walgreens and pick up miralax to take. Gosh I hope the worst is behind me!!! So if this hasn't happened yet.. I recommend taking miralax now!!! -
Pre-op Liquid Diet - Anyone have this?
Frodo's Mom posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
First, let me say this is very hard to type, but I am glad I have this forum to come and ask questions like this. I'm sorry if this is TMI (too much information), but that is a warning right there to stop reading if you are squeamish. I have severe diarrhea with the Pre-Op diet. I'm losing a ton of weight and staying hydrated as best I can but it is really taking a toll, I'm so tired of it. Did anyone else experience this with your liquid diet? I read in the Post-op diets a lot of people having this issue, but just wondered if anyone experiencing it just from the Protein shakes. I have tried lactose free, lactose pills, all vegan plant based protein, nothing is helping. Thanks for your help and advice -
Sorry guys tmi but need to ask!

I had my surgery 3 days ago feel really sick and been number 2ing about 6 times today like diarrhea. Is this normal I feel like I could pass out. -
Well I did the "beet test". I didn't plan on doing such a thing It just so happens I've been on a roasted beets and Brussels sprouts kick. I had a minor freak out session when I went pee and it was red. TMI, I know but it's for a purpose. Anyway I knew it wasn't blood so I started doing some research and found my answer. I have never had this happen prior to surgery. I would remember something like that! So It's a sign of low stomach acid and other things. I posted the article below. I don't know if I should be worried or not so I will ask my NUT about it . I find it pretty interesting though so I thought I would share. It's a natural test you can actually do yourself. Our bodies are just too cool! I think I'm going to start taking some probiotics. Now, if there's a shortage of beets I will know why. You're welcome!

20 days and things aren't "moving"...
twinmomC posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sorry, TMI, but troubled, terrified actually. 20 days post RNY. Came out with flying colors, walking super-star, all in all felt/feel great until recently. Haven't been able to poo on my own (without Milk of Mag, suppository, smooth move tea) in 3 weeks. I've made it happen a total of three times. Down 17 lbs since surgery, not sure how that is possible, but anyway... I have a very sore bum and am seeing a local general surgeon tomorrow (my WLS surgeon is about 2.5 hours away) to take a look at it and see if he can help (super excited about this- NOT!) Thrombosed hemmer!! If you don't know, you don't want to. If you DO KNOW, it is one of the worst pains ever!! This "problem" hurts worse than the surgery itself So... How after WLS do we get things working again? I do NOT want to become laxative dependent, but cannot live like this either. What do you do to get the Fiber in?? Anything else anyone knows to prevent the painful, unpleasant, fire and shredded glass/razor pain, please share. I was hoping for improvement, not a complete halt. Suggestions?? -
@@tammy ann Please don't get discouraged. I empathize with you with all the trouble. In the beginning I had a terrible experience everything had such a bad side effect with me. I also turned lactose intolerant and could not handle the protein shakes..just thinking of them makes me gag..even the whey..ugh I know I have wrote this previously before but get your gall bladder checked. I had to have mine taken out 4 wks after surgery and I believe it was like a week or so I began to feel alot better. I had symptoms like you mentioned, I never had gall bladdr pain or an attack I just thought my body was against me to everything i intaked. Now I know when it comes to my bowels if its runny or yellow (tmi just trying to help) it is gallbladdr connected (removal of) so anything with too much sugar, oil, butter or milk.. and it makes you feel awful and will dehydrate you which will cause a stall. Sorry about your back hope you feel better and this helps. The weight will come off it just takes its own journey. Best of luck to you you can message me if you have any questions

TMI ALERT! I'm getting nervous! I've lost 5 lbs since I last saw my nutritionist and this morning I weighed myself and all the weight that I lost appeared. I know it's because of my monthly visitor but I can not gain weight (insurance purposes). I'm trying to avoid salty foods and walk . What else can I do? Has this happened to anyone else around weigh in time?

So I had my surgery on September 30th and I'm happy to say that things went relatively well. I only had three things I struggled with after surgery. 1. Immediately waking up I was miserable. They gave me everything they legally could and I still thought I was going to die for like 4 hours. 2. My heart rate. At "resting" it was at 115. When I wasn't feeling good it would get over 140. So they watched my heart really close. I think a lot of it was hospital anxiety. They finally got it to calm down with Valium at like 3 in the morning but by calm I mean 110. 3. Peeing. I know tmi but honestly it was the hardest part. My sips were fine. Swallowing was easy. But when it came to going to the bathroom I couldn't go. On surgery day I had to have a catheter because my bladder reached 800cc (catheter requirement is 500cc). I had the catheter over night and when they took it out the next morning I couldn't go on my own. Eventually my bladder got over 500cc again so they used a straight catheter. I didn't go on my own until late that night. THEN I got to go home. I still struggle now. I have to have Water running and use a wet cloth to get me to go. It's weird but it works. In the hospital they tried peppermint oils, showers, everything. It was so frustrating. Now I'm home and I weighed myself. I've lost five pounds already which is odd. Not complaining but I was expecting a weight gain from fluids and swelling. I struggle with Protein. Yogurt feels good in my pouch. The hardest part about being home is my family honestly. All I hear is: walk faster, walk more, you don't need your pain pills, how's that baby food taste?, don't you wish you could have a pop tart. They actually went grocery shopping specifically for junk food because they know I can't eat it and then ordered pizza. When I said something about it "I wasn't being compassionate" and "I knew what I was getting into".... Mk so let's send an alcoholic to a 12 step program just for them to come home and be like "look at all the booze we bought". I literally just cried. This whole process they were supportive saying we "are all making changes together" and I come home to this. I feel alone. I feel like it's not fair. I've worked really hard to change my life and I feel like I'm being punished because I chose wls. can anyone else relate?

Sorry if this is tmi.... But I'm taking the weight management fiber gummies that have chromium in it and I'm wondering if it's causing anyone else to pee ALOT? It's like every 5 mins I'm peeing ????????

@@ylluz sorry for the double posts I'm a little foggy brained and after I replied to one realized you answered on the other. ???? yes if I eat it slow cheese isn't too bad, not much caloric help or protein but fruit isn't horrible. (TMI ALERT) I've been asked if I'm having regular gas and bms to ensure there's no blockage, I'm good on that end. It's something to consider

So I went to Walgreen's today to buy some cotton balls that I need for an upcoming out patient procedure and I went in the candy isle and bought two bags of these things and man am I paying for it by eating the whole first bag talk about chocolate rain (tmi)

That's funny, but truthfully, it's commentary.....and inspiration. Hell, if I could, I'd post it as a NSV... I know this is probably TMI, but the look of wonder on my face he saw wasn't based on how good it felt when I was in a certain position...but more my amazement that I could even get my legs and waist bent that way...

Looking for friends/support
katladee replied to dream_small's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Welcome Kim! I added you as a friend! I hope all goes well for your surgery and weight loss. Megan, thanks for sharing your life with us. I want to say how sorry I am that you had to go thru the loss of a pregnancy. It's not an easy thing to get thru when you want children so badly. I will pray that this happens for you. Today my surgeon's office called to say I tested positive for the H-Pylori, so now I have to do a stool sample (TMI, I'm sorry) and if it is still positive then they will treat it with two weeks of antibiotics. Anyone else have this problem? -
Oh yeah. I forgot that question. They do test for nicotine. I am 2 weeks post op and I had the RNY. I am just starting the puréed diet. I'm getting about 40 grams Protein per day and trying my best with the Fluid. No major problems. I've read a lot about no postoperative pain and stuff but I did have pain. It's pretty much gone now. I was constipated for a little over a week, but now I've had cramps diarrhea since yesterday. Don't know if it's my fault though. I went to an air show and got a smoothie. They said it was fruit only with no added sugar, but idk. All that may be TMI, but it's just my experience so far. Nothing major, just minor inconveniences. But I'm only 2 weeks out and my body is adjusting. On the upside, I've list 20 pounds since surgery.

Dumping, don't get it.
HeatherMiguel replied to meyouus's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm 11 days out and on puréed foods . I'm not sure what I experienced but it was horrible! At the night I had refried beans with cheese and felt it had to much cheese so stopped eating them. In the Morning I had 1/4th of light Greek yogurt (strawberry) and only water after. Around 1:30 I had horrible cramps had to go #2 it wasn't diarrhea at first but I got the shakes started sweating and breathing hard. Then finally came the diarrhea (tmi sorry) the other things lasted another 3 mns or do then I was fine . Anyone know what could of caused it? I'm thinking the yogurt although I've ate it before with no prob . -

So I guess this is the right way to poop!! Lol so I hope it can help some of you!! -
TMI Topic - Digestion Issues one month post surgery
Eleanora posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I actually felt surprisingly well immediately after the surgery and had very little stomach cramping, no nausea, and minimal pain. I was stunned by how much pain I was in during my first TOM post-surgery. The cramping was severe and persisted for the entire week rather than just the first day. Anything I ate caused me to feel ill. For two days I could only consume Clear liquids, and even that was problematic. I ended up getting Pediolyte for fear that I was being dehydrated from all the diarrhea. I cannot drink plain Water. The only drinks my stomach has tolerated well is Gatorade and fresh squeezed orange juice, both of which are caloric so I don't want to have them daily. I had to take time off of work because the cramps were so incapacitating, and the inability to keep down food and liquids had made me really dizzy and weak. I had thought that once my period ended, I'd feel fine again. That hasn't been the case, though I thankfully do feel better. It's been a week since it ended and though I no longer have the intense stomach cramps I still am having digestive issues. Every time I eat or drink anything about half an hour later I have an urgent need for a BM. I then have several more throughout the day, and wake up about 4 times a night for it. I'd thought that perhaps I had transitioned into soft foods too quickly, so I went back to the full liquid diet of Soups and Protein shakes. That worsened the problem, which surprised me because I'd tolerated them fine a few weeks ago. I then started to eat more soft solids again, hoping that could help. It did help some, but not enough. I'd been great about getting in plenty of protein and liquids the first few weeks, and am now not getting in nearly enough. I am trying to limit dairy to see if maybe that's a contributing factor, but even when I haven't consumed any the problem has persisted. It's definitely interfered with my work and social life. I'm afraid to even go on a walk on the beach for fear that my stomach will seize up. I was like a hermit all weekend long, even though it was so beautiful out and there were exciting things going on. As far as weight loss goes, I've lost 22 pounds since surgery (mid-August) and a total of 31 pounds since my highest weight. My BMI is currently 29.5. I'm happy with the progress. I'm just concerned about the stomach issues. I'm also lethargic because I haven't really been able to exercise much and am not able to get in enough calories. Did anyone else experience anything like this?
