  1. Have been pretty busy and of course sick. Getting better now. Had a great time at home in Virginia. It's getting cold here in Korea. Planning another trip to see my doc to get another fill, will be my 5th. I have 7 cc in a 10 cc band. Just got an invite by my doc on fb, so now were in touch. Looks like I had sent some business his way. Looking forward to loosing another 50 #s.

  2. Hello, just a friendly "Banding" Hello to see how you are doing. Well I have some great news... I went to my cardiologist today & did a 3hr cardio work up & was cleared for surgery. My EGD is on 11/05/10, then my consult & Pyshic appts are the following week. The best news is that I have lost 10lbs of my required pre-op 12lbs. I've been having a shake for breakfast, a shake for lunch & a very small portioned size plate of food for dinner & I stopped drinking SODA & juices & am having no problems with drinking just water. I also have started walking everyday. Well I think I am ready for the band & can't wait. Last night I went to a support group meeting & met 30 banders who were very very supportive & full of knowledge...... So how are you coming along with your new band? Let me know & keep in touch......

  3. Girl do I know how you are feeling!!! I am STARVING in between meals; the swelling they talk about has DEFINTELY gone down no more restriction for me. I’m about to start my third week of mushies and I am soooo over it. I can’t take it anymore, I want real food. My nutritionist told me that I should only be eating ? of a cup of food but if I’m hungry to eat up to a cup…are they flipping crazy? A ? of a cup would be torture; I’m doing the 1 cup and get hungry like 1 or 2 hrs after I eat. I’ve only lost 10 lbs since surgery as well and it’s kinda pissing me off. I was hoping to lose 5 more lbs by Halloween but that was a no go. Is this what bandster hell feels like? Like you I can’t wait for my fill, it’s scheduled for Nov 15th…can’t come any sooner.

Good luck! Just keep your eye on the prize…slutty Halloween costumes for next year. HAHA :P Take care! Vivian

  4. I'm not doing bad at all...gas is all gone (thank the baby jesus) just a little more sore than usual had a hiatal hernia & they repaired it and that is on the mend. Down 19 pounds from nerves 1 week pre-op liquid diet & 1 week post-op diet. See the doctor on the 2nd of november & hopefully I graduate to baby food...LOL!

    Thanks for asking

  5. Hey, surgery went well!!! I had no abdominal pain at all however i did have gas pain in my neck and shoulders. That lasted a few days but I was feeling almost normal by the end of the week. The hardest part was post op week 1. That was hell week (fluids only) but I lost 15 lbs in the first 10 days. That's a hell of a jump start and it keeps you motivated to see it keep coming off. I'm excited to wear cute clothes :)

Good luck with your surgery!!! Your day is almost here.

  6. Hey KBME.... I haven't been banded yet.. My surgery is scheduled for 11/17/10... excited and anxious but soooo very nervous to..... How did your surgery go? Was it tons of pain?

  7. So I had surgery on 10/15/2010 in TJ with Dr. Huacuz and he was absolutely wonderful. He pretty much catered to my every need, and he is definitely Dr. McDreamy for sure lol but I mean super nice!

So before surgery I weighed in at 274lbs on Friday 10/15/2010 and now it’s Tuesday, almost 4 days after surgery and I have lost 11 lbs. I weighed myself this morning at 263lbs. I will give an update probably once a week and will post pictures soon.

I have a vacation coming in April 2011 to Los Cabos San Lucas and I would love to be fitting into a bathing suit by then! We'll see, it will definitely be a challenge but I am up for it!

    Good Luck to you all!

  8. Hi Eileen,I think your 39 pounds is fantastic. The fact that your weight is consistently going down is great. I'm not sure there is a "should" have as far as how much we each should lose. I really had not calculated it, but since you asked, I sat down and charted it out . I'm in week #14 & have lost 50 # including pre-op (10 #). My losses are a bit lower recently compared to August. I'm 183 at my morning weigh in. I still weigh every day - bad I know, and I'm not going to the gym, but I walk at least a mile every day. I have no complaints. I realize my loss is probably above average and I'm glad for that - I just don't want that to be discouraging for anyone else. I wish I could get to a gym like you do, I know that has to be firming up areas that need it . . I have pretty bad bat wings and my belly just doesn't want to go down as much as I would like. . ..ah well . .. in time! Thanks for keeping in touch! Rose

  9. Hi boshie thanks for responding to my blog, I have been banded since feb 10 of this year, and I do drink coffee like everyday, but I guess I irratated it, and that is why I was having a hard time eatting and drinking. I am now going to be on a liquid diet to calm things down for a couple weeks. I am sure I will be fine soon.

  10. It's going well! I sent an email 09/01 and it was replied on 09/07 that my file was being sent to the Dr's for signature and then off to the insurance, he said about 2-4 more weeks!! He said that everything else was done. It really got me frustrated though, 2-4 more weeks?!? Goodness!!! Same here, can't wait to get it done! Let me know on your progress!!!

    Jessica!

  11. Darn it . . I had a whole response typed up and hit the wrong button and lost it - arghhh! Anyway . . your pictures are amazing! I love seeing the progress in the green shirt - what a good idea! You asked about my surgery date on your post to my site . . it was 7/15/10 and since starting the pre-op diet, I've lost 38 pounds - as best I can figure . . I did not have any bathroom scales before surgery. I hit "Onederland" the end of August and am thrilled! I have a long way to go in the "onesies" - I am only 4' 11", but I'll just keep plugging along - just like you . . .it's great, huh? Best wishes... Rose

  12. No fill yet. I am scheduled, again, for next week but depending on what happens this week...I have past on the last 3 fills. I lost 5 lbs last week, but only 8/10s of a lb this week. But, I've been losing consistently 3-4 lbs a week since my surgery on 6/21. Prior to surger I was up to 268lbs. On surgery date, I was 151.4 and am now 223. I weigh in and chart my losses on Sunday. If I don't have a descent loss this week, it might mean I need my first fill. I haven't been hungry and I don't think I am eating any more than I have been. I'm at the gym 3-4 times a week. I do cardio2 times a week and combine cardio and weight training 2 days a week. I find I really love the gym.

I am anxious to lose enough to get out of the 220. We'll see how it goes.

You are doing remarkably well. Keep up the good work. Are you exercising? Are you getting protein from your food or are you doing shakes? I am so happy for you and I know you will hit the ONEderland very soon.

  13. Hi Anna.

That is so cool that you are also scheduled to be banded on 9/17, the same day as me!

Yes, I've started my pre-op diet but NYU is very strict with their diet. You had a few choices for low calorie protein shakes but I chose the Carnation Instant Breakfast (CIB). However, with this diet I only get 5 to 6 CIB shakes per day. Boy, are these shakes getting tiresome. I can also have up to 2 cups of certain veggies like lettuce, spinach, cucumber, onion, tomato, broccoli. cauliflower, carrots, mushrooms, zucchini, string beans, okra, cabbage, asparagus, brussels sprouts, and peppers. I cannot have any corn, peas, potatoes or beans. And no fruit is permitted.

I can also have sugar free (10 calorie) jello and sugar free ice pops. I'm supposed to have 6-8 oz of water/day but haven't been able to drink that much.

My stomach growls all the time and CIB shakes have made me very gassy. This has not been easy for me so far.

  15. I'm so glad you are doing well. I'm going to continue with two weeks of liquids as well. You and me are going to be hot momma's. I feel great, little pain in the tummy but I'm good. I 'm focused and excited. I made home made cookies with the girls and didn't have an urge to snack on them or taste the dough. I'm able to cook meals with out feeling I need to taste or nibble. No, they didn't give me a "Aparatus". I did a lot of walking around the house on the first day and went out for a brisk walk today. Yes, girl I am a size 16, I will save my clothes for you girl because I will no more be rocking a size 16, I'm going after a size 10. I'm so happy for you girl because you are going to kick that size 22 to the curb. How much have you lost so far ? I've lost since the surgery about 4lbs.

  16. Surgery went WELL!!!! TODAY!!!!, I AM SO HYPE AND READY FOR A NEW LOOK AND A NEW ME. I have pain in my chest but it's going away as I walk and burp. lil bumbed about not able to eat right now, but I will not complain. I;m going to post a current picture of me. I'm currently a size 16, my goal is to get down to a size 10.

  17. Dont mind you asking. Love to help. This whole process can be nerve racking at times.

The 3 month fast track took almost 6 - by the time i finished all required appointments. I started all of my appointments in January. Doctor sent in paperwork for approval 4/30, Aetna received info 5/11, approved me 5/18 and I had the letter of approval 5/24. My surgery was 6/10.

  18. Hey Trish Hows it going?? I am struggling to get this 10 lbs off that I gained after my slip but the scale is finally moving!! Hope things are going good for you!!! :)

  19. Hi Vikki. Congrats on your weight loss. You are a real inspiration. I have been banded for almost 10 months and have only lost 40 lbs. It gets to be very discouraging, but seeing your weight loss is very motivating to me. Keep up the good work!

  20. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for calliing this afternoon. Our timing was right on since I was just getting ready to call you! I wasn't a bit surprised to hear your voice -- you even sound like my friend, so I knew it was you! How weird is that to have a connection that is so sweet so early. Because of the Lord and Because of Food! LoL. It's 10:34 -- should go to bed since I need to be there at 6:30 am, but too wound up to sleep. That's okay, I'll sleep most of the morning tomorrow, I think! Thanks again -- we'll talk soon!

  21. Got a jump start on the pre-op diet, still 10 days out from my surgery date! Down 18 #'s!

  22. MONDAY is the big day!!! 9/27/10 @ 10AM!!!!

  23. EEE3

Hi Beautiful! I haven't been on here in forever! Work is INSANE. I have been in trials every week since I returned and have a trial every week until week before Xmas - then a two week break and back in trial! I'm down 38 pounds since my surgery July 19 and people are starting to notice which makes me feel good. I just joined the gym and so am mustering my courage to not feel bad as a fluffy girl there. Self esteem issues eh? How are you? Sending hugs! Elizabeth

  24. I understand you are nervous about the surgery, but in all honesty, you should be more nervous about what can happen without it.

I had so many co-morbidities that I was afraid of having a heart attack and dropping dead. I am diabetic (Type 2), high cholesterol, high blood pressure, my thyroid wasn't working well, sleep apnea and I just felt old, fat and uncomfortable all of the time.

Since my surgery my meds have been cut in half and I am warding off another bout with cancer. Yes, I am a breast cancer survivor. Had a mastectomy on January 5th, 2010. I had emergency gallbladder removed on July 19, 2009.

I wish you the best of luck and will be here if you need a shoulder to lean on or have questions to be answered.
