HELP............. I have been getting full pretty quick, and tonight it was like it went down without any problem. I know I am not the only one that has done this.......... afterall, this kind of behavior is why most of us are here........I scared myself............ cause I was doing so good. Any input or support would be great to hear right now.............. I hope everyone else is doing wonderful............ Keep up the hard work, lord knows for me, Tomorrow is a new day, and I am going to do better! I had to vent............ thank you everyone for listening. Jodie:(

Move over girls, your triplet is here... I'm holding for a week now at a loss of 15 lbs ... like both of you, I'm fine all day, a small meal or two, so I'm grazing all evening, but ya know, I was doing that prebanding too. I could easily go all day without a bite to eat, but would then eat all evening, I've never been a huge binger, just a grazer, and usually high carb stuff. I'm working on having my grazing foods being band friendly, and better choices, but I too am starting to think in terms of fill dates... I'd been planning to hold off til January because of the holidays coming up, and the cost of the trip, but I dunno if I can wait that long. I may try and scrape together a November trip at this point... Any experienced bander good ideas for jump starting a stalled beginner loss?

Hi Jodie, I went through a very hungery stage too after being banded. I went from clears to full liquids in 2 days, then very softs after one week, because I was starving. My first few days of soft foods, I was able to eat anything I tried, and too much of it, though I managed never to get a PB, I did eat til my chest would start to hurt. It scared me that I could eat like that, and worried me that I was gonna screw something up, plus I regained 4 pounds! Right as my lady friend paid her monthly visit... I needed to reacclimate myself to what I'm doing, so I just came back here and started reading more of some of the older posts, as well as the new ones to get an insight, and some inspiration. It worked. Thank God! I sure didn't want to be the one that this didn't work for! In this last week, I'ver really been able to get on the right track. I'm eating softs, chicken, Soups, veggies, refried Beans, etc... and I'm being careful to monitor the amounts more closely. The weight's going downward again, and I'm feeling better, my appetite is decreasing somewhat, enough that I'm satisfied eating small amounts 1/4 to 1/2 cup, every couple of hours. Hang it there, we're human, we get hungery... besides we know it's ok, because we are equipped with the tool that's going to help us. We're just new orientee's right now... We'll get it right soon enough, then be skinny old pro's before we know it!

Was just banded yesterday and am sipping my first protein shake as I type. I feel rather good. A little tight in the abdomen but not a lot of pain. Alot of the gas it gone, slept pretty good, and had no problem putting on socks and getting dresses. I had a great surgical team in Dr. Johnson in John's creek GA and at Emory John's Creek. All of the team was GREAT. I had lost 20 pounds preop and looking to move the scale a lot in the coming weeks. Thanks to all on this site. You provide such great information that nothing that has happened so far was a surprise. TJ

Could I be ready for a fill already?
prat72 replied to prat72's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
After serveral attempts I got intouch with a person at my Dr.'s office and have an appointment for the 6th for a fill. I do better during the week with the liquid diet following a fill. That is better than this Friday and having to prepare 3 meals a day for 3 days for my family while I watch. -
I dont know when you had your surgery but if you did recently thats not unsual to go days or even a week without a bm. doc told me thats normal. Also normal is bowels get a little loose and they will. now about the mirelax, its meant to work gradually. I took it as well and didnt really go to bathroom. doc says there was nothing for it to really push out. whats your diet like right now? are you on protein shakes? liquids? etc etc. I didnt have full bms until i was on regualr diet and eating 3 meals a day

For me everything was very managable after a few days. I took two weeks off work and I felt good enough that I could've gone back after 1 week. -

I was severely constipated for a week. Took milk of magnesia and had BM in 4 hours. It comes in different flavors and generics. -

I’d guess you’ll likely need a my least a month off. I work a desk job and was out for two weeks. However, I wasn’t allowed to life anything over 15lbs for like a month to 6 weeks. It will also depend on your age/overall health. Best thing would be to ask your team when they think you’ll be cleared for regular duty! -
71 lbs down after three months??? Amazing!!! congratulations and continued success.

There is normally a stall around week three or so and you will stall-- I call them PAUSES, actually--- now and again throughout your journey. I read somewhere that we don't lose pounds and inches at the same time. While you're 'pausing', you're probably dropping inches from all over. Your body needs some time to adjust itself. You just dropped 30 lbs. It can't keep going like that without some kind of recovery. Push through the break, stay on food and keep advancing your diet. Focus on Proteins and get in your Water. It will pick back up! -

http://www.livestrong.com/article/309453-how-many-calories-do-i-burn-a-day-by-just-existing/ You will burn at least 1,300 calories a day just existing. What's my point? It is physically impossible for you not to lose weight if you burn more than you eat. What you are lacking is patience. You question is the most frequent one asked here, I think. We think that bodies will give up the fat like a vending machine gives up a can of pop. The body is a very complex mechanism with many safety features. Security against starvation is over-zealous for sure but we have to deal with it. Give it time, it will get the picture. I had many stalls and gains throughout my drop. Don't be a slave to the scale. Stress brings on appetite, ignore the scale for a while. -
Anyone Cheat during Preop?
honk replied to Bruinfan's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with a previous posters this whole process is about a life style change. Many, many people think this is going to be a magical fix to their problems. The reality is this is more than 50% mental. Esp. until you start to see some restriction. Due to other health issues I had to wait 7.5 months to have surgery. This gave me time to live new food practices. I think some doctors don't stress this enough because our society likes to look for easy fixes. Just look at how prescription drug commercials are all over the TV. Why? Becuase patients/consumers go to the doctor and demand the drugs because it will be an answer to some problem. Really stressing that the band isn't going to prevent you from drinking a large McDonald's milkshake is going to translate to some people saying "Then why have this surgery". And that would cost the doctor money. Sorry back to the original question. Do some people go off their presurgery diet, yes. If you WERE to do that would it be better to have a baked chicken breast with no skin than a Big Mac, Yes. As mentioned by a previous poster if I had to rate which is more important following the pre or post op diet I would say post. You must, let me repeat, MUST, follow your doctors post op diet. You can do SERIOUS damage to your stomach if you progress to quickly. Because doctors have different diets, many posters say "Oh it's okay you moved to solids 2-3 weeks early because my doctor allowed it". No. If you doctor says 4 weeks of liquids, mushies that's what you need to do. I know some people will find my post mean spirited but it certainly isn't meant that way. I am just repeating what my doctor said. -

Company switching from BCBS of Mass to Tuft's
LSF replied to bookaddict's topic in Insurance & Financing
I've been very frustrated having to wait the 6 months. I started doing everything in January and I'm gaining weight, not losing. If all goes well, I will be eligable for surgery in October (that's a total of 10 months from when I started). But even then , the surgeon said it takes another 3 weeks to schedule the surgery. And if I get denied, then all this time wasted was for nothing. -
From what I've read everyone reacts differently to the surgery. Better to wait and see. Ask for 2 weeks. You can always amend it if you feel like going back earlier.

Forgot to mention one thing. New Clothes! Be very careful with this. I had my surgery on a Thursday and returned to work the following Tuesday. I headed out at lunch to Men's Wearhouse because my pants were litterally falling off me. I got into my new size and bought two pairs of trousers the next size down. My Sunday of that week I was out of the trousers I had purchased on Tuesday. The weight and inches come off very quickly in the beginning which is a great motivator. Just don't buy two many clothes the first few months. You're going to really like shopping now!

Weight loss at 1st Postop Visit ? - Jeni
Chrisann replied to Jeni's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Didn't your doc tell you the first 4-6 weeks are for healing? Mine told me not to worry about losing weight, as some even gain during this period. Its after the fill I have to make sure that the weight starts coming off. I decided not to stress over the weight issue until after I get my first fill. -
Coughing and my band
MADE IT 2 MY GOAL..OH YEAH replied to nrmanning's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the same problem. Had a pretty bad cold and a horrible cough. You know those kinds of coughs that seem to come from deep within. I had that kind of cough for over 2 weeks. I started hurting in my stomach right around where the band is. I called my surgeon and spoke with one of his Nurses and she said that it more than likely was just a pulled muscle. She told me and I am going to tell you, unless you start having severe pain constantly, don't worry. If you start having constant severe pain, then, call and get an appointment set up. Hope you get to feeling better! -

New to the site. Introducing my self and also need help with a problem
delaina posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Just saying hello as I am new to the site. Sorry for presenting you with my problem on my first time on site. I have been happily banded for 3 1/2 years. I have lost my weight steadily and altogether I have lost seven stone. I am still losing slowly and steadily (except for this week when I have lost four pounds in one week. This is likely because recently I have started to get quite severe pain after I eat or drink. Initially about a month ago the pain emerged only after I had eaten . Now it is painful 5 to ten minutes after I eat or drink The pain lasts about half an hour then goes away. The pain is alongside the left of my naval around my waist - under my rib and up the back of my rib cage - under my arm and around my boob!  All on my left side. I would be grateful to know if anyone else has had these symptoms and how they dealt with them. Best wishes Delaina:smile2: -
Where will I be in 3 months? 12 months?
tinksmom posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ok, OK, I know everyone is different, everything depends on one's individual commitment, etc, etc, BUT one of the things I want to do for motivation is to get a couple "dream outfits". I've window shopped a bit and that's fun but I want one hanging on the closet door to keep me motivated...maybe more than one so I can swap them out. Now...what size do I pick? I was banded in April and have lost about 2 lbs a week...so on track for a nice sane weight loss. I'm looking for average size differences from those who have gone before me on this journey. I'm starting at the dreaded 2X; what was your dress size change at 3, 6, 12 months...or whenever you noticed it? I have found it hard to even visualize the way my body will look in the future, which I never expected.
