Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Denise - It's so hard to dress our age  some stuff is too young - some stuff too old but with the weight loss we still want to look cute. I tend to dress really classic traditional - assessorising(sp) I have a nice gold & diamond heart necklace that I were 24/7 and my earrings (3 holes 2 have diamonds and I wear gold hoops in the bottom) and I wear a tennis bracelet & gold rope like bracelet - but here is the non traditional side I have my nose pierced and wear a little diamond and a sun tattoo on my ankle - but I won't wear legging and a long top - i just think it's too young for a 53 yr Cathy I LOVE absolutely LOVE being able to cross my legs - i do it 24/7 now - that was the BEST NSV I'm 5'4 and my pants were 18's - tops 22/24 (hate tight clothes - well that has changed too - I no longer have the rolls of back fat) - the smallest I had in my closet was 14's - now I have 10's 1 pair of 8's and even a 6 (total fluke but they say 6 so i bought them) Truly I am a solid 10 in pants - Large tops - I am very aware of the bra fat...

    NSV (Non Scale Victory)

Congratulations, Mickers! My NSV: I've burned through the notches on my belt, and now either need a new one, or to take it to the cobblers and have more notches punched into it...
  3. Hi Violets- wow what a mushy group today...OK so I teared up too! TracyKS-First let me say how much I loved the pics! we have similar stories. I can not wait for my first field trip!! I did not think I could have macy either. She was one of the biggest reasons I got the band. I wanted to be able to ride on a schol bus and go on field trips with her and not have the other kids tease her cause her mom is fat. Thanks for making me cry:tongue2: Haydee-what a pretty dress! I say bronze too! Michelle-let us know when your cat comes back...cats are my soft spot! Judy-what an NSV!! I agree abut taking another pic now in that pose to compare! Jennifer-shake those blues away. When they creep up "remember the alamo" or should I say...look forward to San Antonio?! Pamela-sounds like you might be ready for summer already?, right? Kat-I have been in a short tempered mood too. dh has been keeping his distance:tongue2:. I know why I have been short tempered though... Jane-If I see you are acting shy or nervous around us at the trip I can just pop you, ok?:smash: Everyone-I can not wait until our trip either. What fun it is going to be! Have a great evening everyone!

Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters

 You are too funny Janet... I LOVE Oprah, but the show you refer to PISSED ME OFF as well. ANd you know what else I think? The people who say " oh I lost it all myself" are jealous that they didn't have OUR tool. Sure the band does help ( am finally getting it now) but I am also choosing Better Calories to eat.. watching my protien, calcium, sodium etc. Oh, and another NSV... by blood pressure PRE-band was 130/78, well now it is consistently 123/68!! I keep re checking it with different machines.. cause its almost too good to be true!!!! I am Happy:tt1: At work today, one of the massage therapists was eating a large chocolate bar and "sharing" ha.ha..... NOPE , thanks anyways - don't want it!!!! I will allow myself a sugar free Hot chocolate but that's it!
  5. What a darling NSV!!! I hope you hugged him extra that day :tt1:
  6. So I'm at the gym for lunch, doing my 'light day' workout. As usual at the gym, I'm just into myself, but I do notice that there's an obviously new lady there with one of the trainers. I'm happy to see this, as more clients mean they need less of -my- money, Anyway, part of my routine is a weighted back extension, 4 sets @ 15 reps carrying a 45 lb plate in my arms. It's really no big deal, and I like the stretch it produces in the back of the legs. So I'm running through my routine, already past those, when the newbie gets introduced to the machine. It's a little frightening at first, as you're levered out into space. She freaked a bit, and then did several unweighted reps. When she got off she said "oh, those are tough, I can never do those." The trainer pointed over at me and said "He's doing 45 lbs reps and doing great, and he was the same as you when he started here. You'll do great." So I've got a little swell-head going on at the moment. Faint praise matters when it's unexpected, and comes from a respected source :-)
  7. That doesn't even look like you Judy!! What a great NSV! That's also one of the ways that I like to get my spirits up when I'm a little down. If I'm having a bad scale day or if I get frustrated with the size that I see on my pants, I walk over to Juan and ask him to give me a hug. It feels so good to have his arms come around completely that it makes me forget about my size 18 pants or the number on the scale. In the past he would just pat my back with both hands...mostly my fat on my sides, LOL...
  8. Judy, what a difference. Holy smokes!!!!! and what a great NSV
  9. I was just cleaning out some things in a basket in the kitchen and ran across this picture taken 9 years ago at our son's wedding. It's an NSV for me today cause in that picture you can see the Bobster and I can't begin to get our arms around each other. I told him to stand up today and we hugged and both of us could get our arms all the way around the other!!! Wooooooooohooooooooooooo!!:wink2:

Hey Fill Friends!!! Tomorrow is our day! I am really excited. I am going to ask Melissa or Dr. C to "fill 'er on up" so I can get my head back in this game! I have two NSVs this weekend. Sat night I went to a bacholorette party for my BFF and wore something sexy. LOL. It was a sleveless shirt I had in my closet, but I haven't warn it in two years. The first thing she said to me was "wow, holy boobies" (I had not seen her since surgery) I guess my waist is shrinking and now there is definition between it and "the girls". The other NSV was yesterday at Kings Island. I found that I fit in the Kiddy rides much easier this year! The only one I still have a problem with is the Plankton's Plunge. The bars would not fit over "the girls" so my DD had to ride with someone else. I hate that my weight problem hold her back, but I promised that by the end of the summer, I would ride it with her! Hope everyone is having a great Monday! n.
  11. Good Morning. Jenn, congrats on the NSV. How cool was that to get compliments from the store workers. I was at the store yesterday getting something from the deli when a lady from church walked up. I said hi to her and we chatted for a minute when she looked at me and made the comment that it looked like I had lost a lot of weight. I told her yes I had, 150 pounds. It's times like that that I'm so proud of myself. I'm also embarrassed at it too. Ashamed that I let myself get like that. But at least I'm doing something about it. Sun is shinning but it's only supposed to get to 56 degrees today. So glad I haven't put my new flowers out yet. They are calling for a light freeze tonight. Terri, Hang in there this week. The weekend will be here before you know it. Everyone have a great day. Hugs.

    A new NSV

Finally. I have a new, positive thing to post about. I went to my dr for my blood update and they called me to come in for the results. Usually, i get them over the phone, so I was kinda worried this time. When I got there, my dr told me my total cholesterol was down quite a bit and he wanted me to re-do the test to make sure it was right. It went down to 56!!!!!! After a re-do, the test was correct. Now, I need to just get my good cholesterol up and I will be right on track. I just love getting off these meds and am happy with each one I stop. So far, its been BP meds, Triglyceride meds, High cholesterol meds gone, not to mention the sleep apnea going away...Sorry, but I just had to celebrate:thumbup::wink2::thumbup:
  14. Morning gals What a weekend, worked the entire thing, my body hurts in places I forgot I had, it has been a long time since I worked like this, or so it seems. Went out sat night after work, have still been on liquids and only had 2 drinks, thank goodness they were not strong. I had on a pr of jeans, my fav big flip flops and a black halter top, (that was how I went to work -flip flops) NSV a friend was hanging all over me, not really in that sense but kept telling me how amazing I looked and that there was something different about me. (with a big smile) Yesterday, I took dd shopping for her great report card and got her some new clothes and me a new halter top, skirt and water shoes from Target and sundress from Walmart. The skirt was a 16 which I'm ok with because I could never wear target skirts at all but the dress...it was a size 14!!!! I cannot remember the last time I was in a 14, the green one was my favorite but the zipper was broken at the bottom so I sent dd out to get the brown one, she was mia forever so i opened the door and walked out... The young girls at the desk were like OMG you look great in that ... not many people can wear that style and not look pregnant, which was what I was afraid of. Then I put the brown one on and got dd's opinion and then went back out to the girls. 1 loved the brown (so did dd) and the other (and me) liked the green. So I got the brown because the zipper was ok. I guess the brown one makes my itty bitties look bigger too (so i was told) And... down another lb today to boot, I'm now -2 for the contest and 1 more and i can change my ticker again. I raised it a couple the other day when it was telling me i was a loser for not changing it in 80 days. LOL Rainy and cold here, so ds and I are just going to hang today, he planted with gram yesterday went to bed at 10 and is up already, it is going to be a long day!

Here here! I can't wait until Tuesday. I'm thinking about taking my camera so I can get a picture of what it looks like to get a fill... if they will let me. I'll play it by ear and see how it goes. Was wondering for the Feb/March bandster buddies if you've encountered any food at all before your first fill that you couldn't get down or had trouble with? I haven't but I have not done anything 'stupid' either like eat something obviously doughy or stringy. I do recommend the cedar planked grilled tilapia at O'Charley's - had that last night and 1/2 of my dinner salad and a few bites of my baked potato and that was really satisfying and the fish is lean and has lots of Protein. I'll definitely try that again when I think I could handle it with restriction. Seebs -- yes, I got over the idea of just leaving the rest of the fish and salad and having them take it away to throw it away because I knew I'd enjoyed what I had and the leftovers wouldn't be good. That is a NSV for me. Greg - yep, not gaining but losing has slowed to a crawl so I am totally with you on bring on the saline!
  16. ...and I feel great! I'm down about 20 lbs since surgery and feel almost no hunger (even without a fill). I still have cravings for food, but not being hungry really helps control the craving. I feel healthier and find it much easier to get around then I used to. I have had a few minor NSV's: the seatbelt in my car has more slack, my jeans are getting baggy, and my large bath towel wraps around my body better than it used to.
  17. It's not heels I long to wear, it's BOOTS. My feet can't tolerate heels no matter how little I weigh, I'm afraid; I have very prominent bones in the balls of my feet and the pressure is too much. But my dream NSV would be boots, like these:

    Surprising NSV . . .

I was going out yesterday and wanted to take my bag I wear across my chest in case I found stuff to buy at garage sales . . . when I adjust the strap to wear it that way, I always do it ALL the way . . . and when I put the bag on - it was way to long! I had to slide the adjuster back a good FOOT! Now that may sound wierd - but to me is a GREAT sign that I'm smaller! Yea! Chris

My first NSV! Share yours as they happen!

This is a different kind of NSV -- I got out one of my pretty spring/summer dresses to wear to church this a.m. because I know I won't be able to wear this size again soon. I have been avoiding wearing dresses because I just didn't feel pretty due to my weight so I splurged yesterday and got a manicure and pedicure, got my nails done in a pretty hot pink and I'm stepping out in style this morning holding my head high. Hope everyone has a great Sunday!
  20. My old shorts where looking like clown pants. I went to the old big mans section but alas I could find nothing that fit...IT WAS ALL TO BIG....so I went to a normal mens wear store and was able to get a pair of shorts. I havent been able to shop in a normies shop in over 10 years!!!! I feel awesome (still fat but awesome).

Thanks, Gals! I appreciate the compliments!! NSVs...hmmm... Yes, restaurant booths are more comfortable, chairs with arms... no longer a problem, I'm walking better and trying to walk more... use a handicap scooter (bad knees), but I'm seeing an orthopedic surgeon next week and hoping he can do something to help that problem. We were able to buy a smaller, lightweight scooter that is much easier for DH to load in and out of the car. Saw my PCP this week and she's letting me drop one cholesterol Rx... will recheck in six months and see if I'm still doing okay without it.

ok I am PISSED !!!!! I got to the gym @ 7 - it's now 7:38 - wonder why i am home so fast - CUZ THE FRICKIN GYM ISN'T OPEN !!!! I have a hair appointment @9 so I had 7-8 to exercise. Well I hope that the person who was suppose to open didn't get in an accident or anything - but I am PISSED THAT I AM NOT GETTING MY EXERCISE... Karri - Good Luck on your race today:biggrin: So Proud of you for doing it - What a GREAT NSV  Can't wait to see the pictures I like exercising in the mornings better - I have more energy... and then it gets me pumped up for the day - i was going to try and jog/run again - oh i'm mad... I could have gotten a couple of hours more of sleep !!@!
  25. HELLLLOOOOOO!!! I'm glad to see you two are doing well! Karly1: Are you using band-aids over your incision sites? Sometimes the adhesive can get irritating on your skin. If you're not using band-aids, is your clothing rubbing on your incisions? That can really irritate them and keep them from healing. You may to cover them (no ointment though unless your doctor says to) just to keep a padding between them and your clothes. Hope that helps! Leslie: Girl you are rockin'!!! Look at you...24 pounds lost??? Fantastic! I'm glad you got to advance...I can now have Peanut Butter and eggs! WOO HOO! I still don't feel full for long. Everything just slips right through the band. Can't wait for regular food! I am doing well. I don't have a scheduled exercise session on the days I work. I work 12 hour shifts and run my ass off the whole time. The other days I've been doing okay. I walk, but have been released to start riding my bike. YAY!!! I'd rather ride any day! I took my measurements today. I know I'm a little late, but couldn't find my measuring tape, so had to buy a new one! I want to use that as NSV down the line. I wrote down everything! Neck, ankles, knees, forearms, wrists and ring size!! Overkill???? LOL ~C
