    Disgusted By Others Eating

I wish we could channel this energy into something positive. Like we could focus more on the good, and hopefully, give someone a well needed pat on the back or praise. Id love to see everyone be so passionate when someone posts a new picture or an NSV and have them receive 6 pages or 80 comments. Let's breathe out the poision of negativity. Peace and love <3
  2. I got stuck the other day! I hadn't had that happen before.. wasn't too bad, but I was eating a sandwich too quickly and I had eaten too much, and I think I swallowed a chunk of bread and it felt so weird and painful. After a couple minutes it passed though. I didn't throw it up or anything. (thankfully!) what a terrible feeling though bleh! Also an NSV, saw a lot of friends I hadn't seen in a while this week at the American Idol finale, and even one of my favorite Idols (that I've met a million times) noticed I lost weight! crazy! Even though I didn't meet my finale goal, still felt good
  3. I got a cool NSV to share. first today is my birthday. I made an outfit for Easter and cut the pants by a 22 size pattern and i could not wear them. But today is my birthday and i was going through my closet lookinf for something to wear and that would fit. A friend of mine gave me some clothes and a pair of jeans that a couple of weeks ago i could not wear. today i put them on and i can wear them comfortably and they look nice and not too tight!:bananajump: the tag says they are size 20! woo hoo! I told my husband i could care less if i got anything for my birthday just fitting into a smaller pair of jeans was birthday gift enough! Everyone have a great and awesome day!
  4. Well today is casual day at work (only have one a month) and I had a very special NSV this morning indeed. I really haven't tried on any of my jeans, just feeling I would just have to get used to not ever beable to wear them. I do wear liquid knit pants and have gone down in sizes in them and they feel good that I am down 2 to 3 sizes in them. So I decided I would try on my jeans in the larger size 20's, but something told me to take out the 18's as well. So instead of trying the 20's on at first I tried the 18's and low and behold they fit and not even too tightly!!! I am losing slowly...and don't see a lot of it-in the mirror...but this helped me realize that it is coming off...just very slowly!!! But I am a very happy person this morning. Got into my 18's and an XL (not a plus size either) hospital t-shirt. So happy...thanks WLS!!! It is working!

    Pretty fantastic NSV's

I love it when you go to the wardrobe and something you have not been able to wear for ages just slips on a treat. Yes NSV s can really help you on if the scales are sticking ! Elide I love your posts
  6. Maybe there is a place and I haven't found it, but I would like a spot to go to find the definitions of all the abbreviations used. What is lol, nsv, pb's, etc. As a new person, it can be very frustrating and you feel stupid not knowing.
  7. Have to correct my weight.. My hubby informed me that you can't weigh on carpet LOL. Totally off!!! I'm down to 253 from 262 day of surgery. NSV - wearing my husbands T-shirts and there baggy :-) Thanks for the add lylabelle

As I look back over my life....

"As I look back over my life, and I think things over, I can truly say that I've been blessed" I'm headed in to get my labs drawn for my one year appointment that is coming up very soon! I am just in shock over the fact that I was able to take this journey. I am so happy with the decision I made over a year ago to pursue WLS. I would have to say, without a doubt, that is the best and hardest decision I have ever made. There were days when I wanted to give up and had eaten badly, but I got back on the saddle and rode this one out! This morning I stepped on the scale to discover that I have lost 98lbs! That is 4 additional lbs to the last time I checked. I now completely understand that this is life-changing. I will never stop maintaining what I have worked so hard for. I have spent $$$ on vitamins, co-pays, supplements, medicines, etc. I am invested and I want to protect this investment of good health with living healthy. I feel like a different person when I step into public places. I am no longer as insecure and ashamed as I walked around feeling for years. I feel like I might cry through my entire appt this week. They have a picture of me the day before surgery. I have not seen it, but I know I am bigger than my license picture. As a reward to myself (and getting tired of people focusing and questioning that I am the person on my license) I am going to the Secretary of State to get a new picture and new license mailed to me. This will be another little happy gift to myself. It truly is the NSV that make me so content. Congratulations to the people that are celebrating their one year surgery anniversaries with me this month! I know I was on this site 24/7 as I rested after surgery. I am so appreciative for all the great advice on the blogs and chat rooms here. I couldn't have made it so well through my first month without this site. I started back when this site was verticalsleevetalk.com. Thank you everyone for the encouragement when I needed it, and the advice to give me discipline. I am emotional now just writing this. We have all made it over hurdles that we didn't know we had the strength to do.

    Swimming NSV (kind of)

I haven't been swimming since my LB surgery in January, and while we were in Yellowstone this last week the families wanted to go swimming. Well I am not a cork I have never had a problem treading Water, when I jumped in with 60 pounds less fat I sank like a rock, it took everything I could do to keep my head above water. I honestly believe if I had breathing gear, I could have taken a stroll along the bottom of the river. Well, at least I won't need as much weight the next time I go scuba.
  12. Can you believe we all have tini-tiny stomachs now? What a week its been. Some have had remarkable painfree success and some have been downright miserable. At this stage everyone is in totally different places as far as food/liquid/nutrition. For those on Clear liquids for awhile longer, if you didn't know, Isopure makes a clear drink thats 40g Protein. Its sold at some GNC stores. Might help get some protein in while being kind to your new stomach. I hope by the end of this week everyone is feeling fantastic! Here is the run down! I have an idea, let me know what you guys think... What I can start doing next week after we all lose the excess surgery Fluid... so everyone can see easily how much everyone has lost, is each week we can weigh in Mondays and I can put it after your name on the new Tuesday thread. It would be great to be able to see how everyone is doing at a glance - ie (lylabelle -6). It will be fun the first few weeks when we will probably all be dropping really well (except week 3 is typically a stall). You guys can message your number to me if you want so we keep our thread clean and filled with tips, tricks, recipes, annoyances and NSVs! Let me know what you think. Love this group! July Butterfly NSV's!

I thought that we should really have a thread to put our non scale victories on. Here's mine. I put on a pair of pants that I had been avoiding before surgery because they were too tight, now they fit very comfortably!! I also have clothes that are too big now!! YAY!! And a pair of pajama pants that I couldn't wear before I wore last night!!

    February's Chat

Hello all! All I can think about today is Beanie's surgery...I hope you are home, Irene, and sleeping right now. If not, then only sip your drinks, and walk from the couch to the bathroom. The port area will be the most uncomfortable, followed by gas pains. It will pass (no pun intended)...I think I was driving about 4 days later....I really CAN'T remember, if that's any consolation to you. I will give you a call. I got a little info on the old principal...not enough to insure my future, but enough that I can raise an eyebrow at him if he's not nice! Betty, you're right...very busy trying to catch up on the time I missed at the conference. Oh, and just for fun, I got a speeding ticket in Denton when I was returning from the airport! To make it worse, I got this ticket in the exact same location I got one last year! You'd think I'd learn....so, I'm going to find out exactly when my last ticket was, and cross your fingers it was at least a year ago, so I can take Defensive Driving again. Oh joy. A really cool NSV: I could buckle my seat beat on the plane, and had 3 inches or so to spare!!!!!!!! I also lost down to 233 on Sun., but after I weighed I ate all the junk at the Super Bowl party (some party, two grandpa's, my DH and DD!), so I was back to 236 this morning. Still, the scale moved! Gotta run, it's time to go home...to everyone, keep up the good fight, and keep praying for Beanie! Cindy
  16. I've been a bit disappointed the last few weeks because I haven't lost a lot of weight. However, I had a couple of great things happen this weekend that's really encouraged me. First, I pulled out my winter clothes and I'm now able to button all my coats, which is something I haven't been able to do. Today, my sister offered to take me shopping for new jeans, since mine (size 24's) were falling off and I didn't have any smaller sizes. Before surgery, I had been wearing 26/28's. I pulled some 22's and my daughter encouraged me to try a 20. I thought there would be no way they would fit. Well, they did! In fact, they were a bit loose. Long story short, I walked out of the store with a size 18 pair of jeans! I haven't worn that size in at least 25 years! So those of you who may be in a bit of a stall or think you're not going to be successful, don't give up! It will happen.

I want to be a rabbit!!!

Diane I lost very steadily in the beginning , then from my 1 yr anniversary April of 05 until this September I lost zero weight. In October I lost 10 lbs..do not get discouraged.Palteaus are totally normal. Keep track of your NSV's during this time, the scale is the enemy. Do not let it dictate your success or failures. Those NSV's really do matter.. What worked for me was I started doing the 3 a day dairy that is reccomended when doing a low calorie diet. It seemed to have jump started my weight loss again and I have been losing 1-2 lbs a week since. www.3aday.org is the web site..check it out it may help you. I never eat 3 meals a day. I eat when I am hungry , Period! Hang in there you can do this, be patient! It will happen

    Pretty fantastic NSV's

Elode, you have had so many great moments recently, and you deserve them all! Congratulations on your most recent NSVs! It’s great that you’re getting the rewards you deserve from your hard work after surgery. It’s also neat that other people are noticing – that makes it so much sweeter!

    JULY 2013 BAND BUDDIES

Ok, I'll bite. WTH is NSV?
  23. All of the things you've mentioned are ways of telling you lost weight. It is very common to be the last to notice it in yourself. I also found that other people didn't mention it until I has lost about 50 pounds then all of a sudden everyone noticed. Just keep on keeping on and eventually it will become your new normal. I weigh myself weekly and can almost always tell if there is going to be a loss by the way "i feel". Your mind will catch up with your body and in the mean time just enjoy all of the nsvs you have mentioned and more.
