    March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD

Hi Everyone, I've been reading here, just haven't had much to say the last few days, so that's my reason for not being here. I'm still on track but finding it harder to eat the right foods, but I'm down another 3 lbs this week for a total of 22 lbs lost since surgery and a grand total of 42 lbs since January, so I can't complain. I'm shooting to lose another 8 lbs by end of May before we leave on our vacation June 1 and I'm on track for that. Fenton, congrats on the 6" loss in pants size, that is an awesome NSV. I'm looking forward to my 2nd fill on May 23 and hoping for more restriction as I seem to be able to eat probably a cup or more of food right now which is more than I've been able to eat in the past. I just make myself stop eating and so far so good. I do think I have a little restriction since my first fill on April 25, but know that I need more. Everyone keep up the good work, I know it's hard, but we can do it.
  2. Yup LA we are just more Fluffy than others! I'm glad you're going to do some measuring! You will not regret it! I hope you can make it to the BBQ too! I was in the office this afternoon, but I didn't get a fill. I still have pretty good restriction from my last fill AND I've lost 17 lbs in the last month. It was so nice to see Natalie, Marilyn, Mary and the Good Doctor K! When I got there, they had me fill out this information sheet about my eating. I loved being able to write on there that I work out 30 mins a day, 7 days a week! The first time in my life, I was able to write that!!! I'd call that a huge NSV!

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Hey Gang you have been busy the last few days!!! Saturday had my StageCoach Fest - Saw Bucky Covington, Taylor Swift, the Judds, Dirks Bently, Rascal Flatts then yesterday GS (17) and I spent the day together... There is so much to respond to - but the site is so freaking slow.. I am cooking dinner so only have a few minutes - Denise when do you leave for AZ - how cool that you will meet some other banders from here. What day will you be flying over my area - tell me the time and I will go outside and wave:lol::smile: I am a natural born Desert Rat - Born in Indio CA - but my Mom was from Texas - I love greens - okra - fried chicken -corn bread - cream gravy - grits - backfat/salt pork - anything fried and dripping in butter - all the food that went in to making me fat:tongue: - I made a pot of greens a couple of weeks ago and had some boiled orka in my rice - but as far as the fried and dripping in butter those days are long gone - As to how much you eat - my doc really didn't give me a limit he just said low fat and sugar free - I follow a Weight Watcher eating plan - I don't count points - I do count calories and keep a food diary I had 10 days on each stage and ate about 1 cup of food per meal and toward the time I got my 1st fill I ate maybe 2 cups - but one cup was all veggies. I know alot of people say that they gain during mushies but I didn't. This is where I feel that counting calorie is very important - ya mashed potatoes are a mushies - and aren't too bad as long as you don't load them with butter. I would say mushie stage I was eating about 1 cup of food. I have always kept my calories 900-1200 on average and I didn't start exercising till 6 weeks out - I let my body heal. Jbflorida - You got it - I will !!!! Southerngal -Brenda - I saw you posted we've missed you. Carol - luvrocks - you too I saw you posted but that was 3 pgs back and you all UNDERSTAND THE 50 YR OLD BRAIN - CRS (can't remember sh*t) Ok buzzer going - I am hungry - did 1 hr weight (legs) with my trainer tonite - I am going to be sore in a couple of days - I wanted to work legs tonite - so that they wouldn't be sore for this weekend when I go see my Man Trace Atkins - I wanta be able to walk  and DANCE - great NSV when you lose weight - you can dance again !!!!! Well ck back later - drink your water !! TTYL

    May Exercise Challenge

I did my hour of cardio today. I'm hooked on the energy I get from a good workout. I'm the last person I thought I'd hear saying that, but its true. In the class I just finished I learned that I now fall into the "active" lifestyle category. I no longer have to check the box that says "sedentary". That's another big NSV for me. Keep up the pace everybody. I'm going to try to kick it up a notch too. I want to get as fit as possible before my ps. Crazy Ates May Exercise Challenge 3/20 Cardio Sessions 0/8 Weight Training

    Slow Losing?

Hi Ann: I think it is rotten to lose slow. I am not losing that fast at all. How well do you know your body? By that, I mean that counting calories doesn't work for me. I have tried it multiple times and it just doesn't seem to work. Counting carbs does work for me. When I sat down and thought about it, I came to this conclusion. Since then I have been counting my Protein, liquid and carb intake. I think it is making a difference. I also agree with Fenton that it is a good idea to document all that you eat and drink. There is a cool website called www.thedailyplate.com which makes all that very easy to do. I actually keep a little notebook in my purse and before I eat, I jot down what I am eating, how much, what time. But.....as I say that.... I also think it is a matter of perspective. You have lost 23 pounds. That is wonderful! I have read some stories of slow losers on the "slow losers' thread and there are some folks that haven't lost that much in a year. It sounds like you are doing everything right! I would also try to count the NSV - non-scale victories. Can you fit into clothes you couldn't before. Does your seatbelt fit better? I have started to tuck my shirt in my pants. I am sure that there is something other than the scale which is showing your success! I wish you well! I hope the scale moves for you soon!

    March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD

Greetings! I'm back and in a better mood today. I've have GOT to keep remembering the next minute is a new minute. Fenton: I guess that was a lesson! Bummer to be so stuffed you can't sleep. Oh, and HOLY COW 6 inches off your belt....that is a NSV to celebrate! Scrappy: Good for you going whole hearted into this process! I mostly can stop myself when I should.....but then there are the other times......it is the reason I was banded! Christine: Good news that your doctor was aggressive about the fill. Maybe I should tell my doctor I could eat 2 slices of pizza with no problem! Well, I am hoping to get some walking in tonight. I won't be able to get that in for the next couple of days. Bye for now!

    Share your NSV's!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats Donna and Babe I am happy for both of you. I have a new NSV to share, I took pictures over the weekend at home to play with my new camera and printer and these happen to be the first I've taken since being banded - I couldn't believe my eyes, I said "WOW" when I saw myself, I could actually see my own weightloss and I didn't see it before, I actually thought that I looked smaller almost a version of skinny (in my mind). My husband and kids kept saying of course you look smaller you have lost a lot of weight. I know i've brought a couple of Junior sundress but "WOW". I can't believe it either and I love exercising now too. It's funny how our lives change. Let's keep up the good work, we are on a roll! This is for us:thumbup:
  8. We will all hit our one month "bandaversary" this month, so let's use this thread to check in. When you hit the one-month mark, post how much weight you have lost, non-scale victories (NSVs), and just how you are doing. Hope everyone is healthy and happy!

Good Morning Gal Pals Well, I guess we'll settle down at home this month, seems like we were gone the entire month of April. I'm ready to get my pool open and do some serious fishing  Jetti, what a wonderful NSV, I don't even run to get the phone, boobs are still so big, I'd bruise my chin if I did. Betty....no Betty checking in this weekend, must be busy partying. Speaking of partying, anyone tried a Margaretta Sunrise, I hear they're very good. Diane, it was so good to talk to you Saturday morning. I enjoy our long talks . Sherry, I'm a fair weather rider, I've only riden in the rain one time in 11 years, and that was because it was a surprise downpour, I was scared chitless . Mandy, I took the course too, I think it should be mandatory for everyone that rides to take it, especially those that are "experienced" and think they know it all. One of the things I learned is using the front brake, my hubby NEVER uses his front brake. I'd never riden anything with two wheels, besides a bicycle, when I took the course. My youngest son was in a panic, he still worries about me, well I worry about me too. I hadn't riden in almost three years until last weekend. Check out the flying arms..that's what happens when the fat doesn't fill them out anymore. Eileenie, I'm so sorry about your doggy  Kat, the hubby's a keeper for sure. I was getting a new diamond, but fruggal me decided I'd rather put the money into the ground....in the form of a pool. For a little more than the hunk of diamond I wanted, we're putting a pool in at our cottage, but I'm still on the hunt for a great deal on a 2.5-3 carat diamond ...at a great price :wink2:. Diane, I was 47 when I took the MC class :biggrin2:. Kat, hop back on that cycle, it will make you feel younger, and scared at the same time, LOL.

puppy news - thank goodness your lanlord is being realistic, good luck on your vet documentation. I am with everyone else. our doggies our our family as much as any 2 legged variety of family member :biggrin2: Fenton - yippee 6". that is truly a NSV. btw have you bought a new belt yet. With losses like this you definitely need to replace the one you retired last week and you induldged and then walked it off.... that is a good trade off in my logic. I ate out yesterday at a chinese food buffet......I did fairly well, small portions of the meat and veggie dishes, stayed away from the dessert bar, except for some fresh cantelope. no egg rolls, some sauteed mushroomsand a few pieces of fried scallop and shrimp.. After counting it all out on MyDailyPlate, it was not much damage. My damage was going to the new Hollywood Casino in Harrisburg afterwards and dropping over $100 to those slot machines... but I did get walking in also, that place is huge.

    Non-Scale Victories!!

I love reading everyone's NSVs!!! Anyone gotten a swimsuit yet for the season? I know, it's dreadful, but his year has been better than the previous years. I do a lot of boating so I had to go ahead and order mine now although I did want to wait. I did all of the measuring and the measurements said I needed a 16. Even though it said 16, I am so used to ordering the biggest size possible, I went to my comfort zone and ordered 18. It came in and guess what.......way too big!!! Just an FYI, Lands End has an awesome custom line with women's sizes and up to DDD bra sizes with underwire. God knows I need something to hold these deflated things up!!!

such a beautiful picture of Susie...HUGS!!!! I just wanted to stop in and tell you all about my NSV today. I just completed the 5K Susan G Komen Race for the Cure at Branch Brook Park in Newark NJ. Not only did I finish the 5K of the race I also walked 1 mile to the race and about 1.5 miles home from the race!!! So in total I walked about 5.5 miles and I AM STILL ALIVE!!!! Granted my feet are a little sore but hey I will take that over not being able to breath any day! I didnt feel out of breath at all through out the race. Now I didnt run because lets be serious I would have passed out 3 minutes into it but I did keep up a fast pass walk and was even sweating even though its a chilly cloudy day here in NJ. So...YAY ME!! have a great Sunday ladies!

Special K - thanks for the cartoons - always nice to have a quick grin on this board. Although I have to say, I grin quite a lot while reading this - we have a pretty funny bunch! I wonder if that's just a random thing, or if fat people learn to use humor as a defensive weapon. Yay on yr dog, Lisa! That's great news! I had an NSV yesterday: I'm now wearing pants that are 6" smaller in the waist than the ones I was wearing for my initial weigh-in in January. On the minus side, my hips are sore - I think it's the joints rather than the muscles, although I feel it in the muscles. I'm going to take it easy on walking for the next couple of days. Last night, I had a nice indulgence, something I'd been looking forward to for the last few days: I had Soup for dinner, then went out to the Dessert Truck (a mobile high-end dessert truck that magically appears every night from six to midnight a half mile from my house) and had a chocolate bread pudding. I ate it in the park in the light rain, and then I got up and walked for an hour by way of penance/exercise.
  14. Evening, Violets.. We're baaaaaaaack. It was a great meeting with very interesting speakers. One of the pastors had gastric bypass in January and he had lost 80#. He really needed to lose it fast for health reasons, but he ended up in the hospital for 5 weeks with sepsis. I tried not to rub it in that we only spent one night. I sure did notice how many overweight people were at this meeting and I know I would have been one of them were it not for the band. I can't tell you what a great feeling it is to not be the heaviest one in the group. Well, I'm guessing you all have had that same nsv, and it's a very motivating one. I'm going to go watch the second half of the Pistons game and the Tigers and then head to the hot tub if it isn't raining and then to bed. Everyone have a good evening..

    My very first NSV!!!!

That is a cool NSV, way to go!!
  16. This is actually quite comical. Since I am eating no junk food it is sticking around a lot longer. My husband and daughter were having cheetos last night and brought them back into the kitchen complaining that they were stale. Hahahahaha....never would have had stale cheetos before!! So there you have it my first NSV is having the ability to keep cheetos in my house long enough to have to throw them out!

Where the heck are you all?

Hey Megan..good to see you back on the boards! Isn't shopping in a "normal" store a great feeling? I bought a pair of size 16 jeans at Nordstrom this week...SCORE!! Congrats to you on your great NSV and have fun showing off your "slimmer self" in Key West!! -Amy

Way to go Georgia. That is huge. I shows that you are really changing your habits, not just following a "plan". My latest NSV.....I went and got measured for and bought 2 new bras yesterday. I have gone from a 42DD to a 40D. WOOHOO!!
  19. What an awesome NSV!! I'm so close! I can buy XL tops at normal stores now, but my bottom half (really just my bottom) still won't squeeze into anything smaller than an 18. It does so much to one's self esteem to get out of the plus sized stores! Nothing against Lane Bryant - they've been good to me over the years....but it is time for me to move on!

    Share your NSV's

Hi everyone. Just thought I would share my latest NSV. I have always had a major sweet tooth, I think it was pretty much my downfall. I ate them all the time. I occasionally still get some sweets to eat every now and then. Well tonight, I saw some of those fruit slice sugar coated gummy candies (love them) and I bought some. Now in the past I would have eaten the whole bag at once (yeah, that's how bad of a sweet tooth I had) and tonight I only ate 2. I am so proud of myself because I think that is more of an accomplishment then not eating any. After 2 of them it just tasted sooooooo overly sweet. This has truly been a lifestyle change and I am just excited that I have overcome another weight loss hurdle- self control.

Where the heck are you all?

Hi LapBand Losers (pun intented:wink_smile:) Been awhile, sorry and I've missed reading all the double V posts (and I agree our posts are the best and most entertaining---yes I'm biased) Wanted to share with you my NSV, leaving for Key West on Sunday for work--yea I know life's tough:thumbup:. Anyway back to my NSV...guess where I shopped for all my clothes??? NY and Co!!!!! Biggest size there is an 18 and I'm sure that you've all had that feeling where your looking at the pants before trying them on and kinda size up wether it will fit you or not, praying that it will but knowing that it won't...well guess what, not only did they fit but they were too big!!! Couldn't believe it, I shopped in a normal clothing store and didn't even have to get the biggest size:w00t:!!! I have a box in my room that I'm filling with my "too big" clothes and when it's full it's going to Wings For Success, which provides clothes for women who are getting back into the workplace after abuse. My loss is their gain (again, pun intended lol)

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

NSV is non scale victory. PB is when food won't go down so it comes up. It stands for productive burp. Sometimes it's just a burp and food comes with it. I have had regular old throwing up when I was too tight. Luckily, I don't have that problem anymore.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Shirley & Bev - here is how to get your tickers http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f5/ticker-tutorial-pictures-41782/ Follow these instructions and you should be able to get it working.. Lynda - it shouldn't take too long - it will depend on how fast you get the 3 items listed done and your doctors schedule.. Welcome to LBT its a great place for info & support - Since you are a nurse you understand the medical side - we can tell you the experience side.. The 50's is the new 30's and we have a lot of privelgies that come with age... I don't mind it much except for the wrinkles Yvonne NSV - Non Scale Victory = walking up a flight of stairs without dieing:lol: SV - I haven't ever seen this one - but I would guess Scale Victory PB - Productive Burp - it's when you get stuck (golf ball in chest) and you will slime (saliva) and you will throw up the offending object - but it's not really throwing up - but more like a burp with food in it. DH darling or damn husband DW wife -DS son DD daughter - GS grandson GD grandaughter - There was a place where all these definations where but I can't find it - I don't know how the expect a newbie to find it.. Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Hi All and thanks for all the welcomes and best wishes. Saw the Dr today and he was happy with my progress (10 lbs since op on 4/23rd and 25 total now). He has moved me to diet of mushies for next 2 weeks and then to soft foods the following 2 weeks. I'm so excited to have more options to eat. My first fill is not until May 30th. He said to start working out slowly and build up. I had broken my right foot on Feb 18th so I am still healing from that too and I didn't tell him about that because I didn't want that to affect my having surgery. I took off my boot from the Orthopedist and wore my tennis shoes, walking very delicately, when I went in to see him twice before surgery and told him I had a small turn of the ankle which was healing fast..... He did say, "Well you have to be mobile to be able to have the surgery" and I told him that I was up and about and on my eliptical so it didn't become an issue. I am up to 15 minutes on the eliptical as regular walking is still too slow and probably not helping much excercise wise and want to work that out to more but I can't do my health rider (which is like a rower) yet because that pulls on my abdominals. I did have questions on what is NSV and SV and PB? Gotta get up on my lapbandonics.... Its a happy day for me:thumbup:. Have a great weekend everyone. Yvonne

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

sometimes the NSV are better than the SV. At least now I am losing about2# per week, but know it may change anytime. But the change in how my clothes fit and how I feel is a great measurement of this ban helping me to wor for my own improvement of mind, body and lifestyle..
