Dr. John Bagnato - Bagnato Bandits

Brina - Definitely check out your YMCA. I know ours offers Water aerobics! Leslie - Do you think your DH might be having some issues with the surgery? I know my DH had some trouble wrapping his head around things in the beginning, and it created lots of tension between us. We talked it through and all is okay now, but he may be having some issues with that. Or is this normal behavior for him? Either way I hope you are feeling better soon. I am like you and am so used to turning to food when I'm having those days, and it is a transition for us. We need to train ourselves to turn to exercise or something! I had a great NSV today. I tried on a dress, a skirt and sweater and a pair of capris I couldn't wear at all last summer and they both fit! The capris I have been steadily trying on since Mark and I can finally wear them. That felt awesome because the scale just isn't moving much for me lately. But evidently, I am having some progress!

Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters

Steph...Running a full minute is HUGE! Remember...I had to start somewhere and it certainly wasn't at 6 miles. But I have been doing this since JANUARY! As for the eliptical, I did a full hour on it yesterday and I think it registered just over 3 miles. So unless you have the resistance REALLY low and are almost sprinting on the thing (which I do not recommmend as it can be hard on the knees) you are not going to go very far. I have always been able to do the elipitical for a long time. Even when I was fat, I could go for a while on the eliptical. My legs have always been in good shape it is just the rest of me that lacked! Oh and on a side note...I took my resting heart rate when I got up this morning and it is down to 60. Before surgery it was at 90+! HUGE NSV for me!

I am 6'4" and currently am about 290. Had no problem on roller coasters last week at Busch Gardens (Virginia), although I did not go on them all. Florida has a law that mandates a row for "larger" people. When in Florida -just find out what row it is and hop on. When I am around 260-270 I know I have no problem at all on any coasters (never had a problem). Think of it as a NSV goal !!

    One Month Anniversary Check In

33 pounds! Wow, that's GREAT! Isn't it fun to loose? I too am taking 1/2 of one diabetes pill where I would have taken one full one twice a day, and my sugars are <100! I love it! I'm down to 1/2 a BP pill too. But the most fun NSV for me is that I bought a pair of jeans that actually look like jeans, instead of the old lady stretch no-zipper ones! Sure, they are still plus size, but hey, I haven't worn something that resembles a ACTUAL jean in 25 years! Yippe! What I'm finding is that I FORGET to zip up my zipper - haven't had zipper pants for so long...only pull up stretch ones...! This is new territory for me!

I totally agree with the "one pound at a time" perspective. I need to lose in excess of 150 pounds but I don't even care. Today, the scale went down another pound and I am elated, because that brings me a pound closer to my old pants (or insert your own NSV... my big NSVs are my wardrobe. I have TONS of clothes transitioning from when I got bigger, so through the transformation, I'll have a new lil wardrobe each milestone).
  6. HELLO V's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Michelle you crack me up!!!! I can very well picture your mickey keds! It was cool and overcast today and I spent $200.00 on perenials for my yard!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OHHHHLLALLLAA I love spring......... and they are all planted and watered! I worked on my front beds which are 100% shade due to the big ass tree that covers the front half of the yard....... (last week I actually climbed on my roof to trim branches) NSV NSV NSV.... I have to say that I'm quite pleased with my efforts....... Have any of you ever trained a wisteria vine into a tree??? We have THE most beautiful one on campus at work and I think it would look great..... Funny part is DH gave me 60 bucks for mothers day flowers and I spent $200! LOL he about keeled over... I talk flowers and he rolls over dead..... oh well....... I love the big goober! I was itchy and sweaty,, and I crammed a fairly large piece of sour cream angel food cake down my pie hole... and oh imagine that IT GOT STUCK! So I let hot water beat down on my chest until it dislodged....... and I have been bad bad bad...... primo sabatage at work ... girls this is EXACTLY why I've lost 80 lbs 3 freaking times PRE-BAND......... and Michelle I had a dream about your blueberry buckle!!!!!!!!!!! I'm an idiot...... Oh and can we say this now........ NO FOOD POLICE next weekend. Please... I know I'm going to be bad..... so just bite your tongue while I run out of the room to PB! (I'm laughing as I type this but its only because I'm such a dork!)

    Non-Scale Victories!!

Awesome NSV's 40. I vented a little last night to my man because no one that I work with has commented on my weight loss... Well, finally today, one of the guys I work with said, WOW, look at you, what's going on?! Now, I feel a little better. While I was venting to my man last night his comment was, "Well, they don't get to see you naked:thumbup:"! He He He... I'm just so tall that 40 pounds doesn't show much, which was a blessing when I was heavier, I guess...

    Non-Scale Victories!!

I have a five victories to be grateful for this week! First ... a combo NSV/SV. About a week ago, I got into my pre-pregnancy pants!! Whoooo hooo! Then, this morning, the scale showed me the number where I was 9 years ago when I started this glorious motherhood journey. Very cool to be on BOTH the health and motherhood journeys at the SAME time! Second ... I am training for a 10K next spring as part of my overall healthier me goal. Last night, I pulled 1.5 minutes off of my mile because I was actually able to RUN without the momentum of my 'jiggle' making it hard to keep moving forward. My butt actually co-operated instead of wiggling to it's own beat, so to speak. Who knew my legs could actually be powerful again? Third ... bathing suits. I actually LIKED trying them on this year. My hubby was appreciative, I was able to buy from the 'normal' people sizes and a 16 top was TOO BIG even with my ... shall we call them ... ample breasts. Fourth ... and funniest, actually. I had my second fill on Thursday and the lady running the floriscope (sp) had to move me three times to get a me at the right angle for a good view because 'your waist is so slight'. LOVED it! My oddly tiny waist (for a 'big girl' .. can't wait to shake THAT term) is back!! Fifth ... being thankful that I have a place like this to share these victories with those who really understand!! Keep up the hard work, all! We have earned it!

  11. Boy, I'm missing my mom and dad today. Saw a little old guy at Walmart and it reminded me of my dad. Saw Michelle's post on Blueberry Buckle and it reminded me of my mom. She was a fantastic cook and baker. Her pies were to die for and her blueberry buckle was the best. It's all good though. Best to have those good memories on Mother's Day. Mom would have been 88 May 25th and Dad would have been 89 on the 20th of June. Hard to believe I'm going to be 61 next month!!!!!! But I'm so enjoying this time of my life. A lady behind me at the check out at Walmart told me how good I looked and those little NSV's carry me through. We went to Culvers for lunch and the Bobster and I split a chicken dinner. Note to self... do NOT start the meal eating their rolls cause even though they are delish, nothing after that will go down. Ended up PBing twice and DD gets so huffy at me when I do that. She's right though. I should know by now!! Off to fix the potato salad, deviled eggs and macaroni/chicken salad for the graduation party tomorrow.

    Doing Laundry & Smiling!

Hey, that is a great NSV. But, doing laundry will never, ever make me smile. I hate doing laundry!
  13. Yes, I have been looking forward to the day to be able to wash that biggest size of dress, top and pants I had pre-surgery and put them into a donate box! Getting everything all neat and clean to donate. Might even try to see about consigning to a Plus-size store for some smaller clothes to swap! NSV!!!:thumbup:

    Non-Scale Victories!!

My husband took me to lunch at Ruby Tuesday yesterday and I fit in the booth! I even had room to spare! ha! A while before my surgery we went to the same restaurant and had to ask for a table with chairs instead of the booth because I literally could not comfortably sit in the booth! SO embarassing! This NSV couldn't have come at a better time for me.... it's been a rough week!

    One Month Anniversary Check In

It has been four weeks to the day of my banding. My one month Anniversary will be 5/10/08. I'm proud to say I'm down 31 pounds (lost 8 pounds pre-op). This week I hurdled through a two week plateau. I was down 2 pounds this past Saturday and yesterday was down another 5 (total of 7 this week!). I know I'm in the healing time so I'm thrilled to have lost anything. I was expecting to stay plateaued until my fill (May 22nd). <<doing the happy dance>> NSV's Smaller Clothes - Went from a 18/20W & sometimes 22/24W to a 14/16W. food Cravings Are Gone! - I no longer crave food all of the time. I no longer bing. My life isn't consumed with eating. I now focus on living. The "Shelf" Is Gone - the shelf I used to have for my arms to sit on, when I sit down, (upper stomach) is gone. Which means my boobs are now bigger than my stomach. Wow! Sex - My drive is back. It has been gone for SO LONG! I hated the way I looked. Loathed would be the correct word. I'm getting some of my confidence back!!! I'm looking forward to NSVs that are yet to come! I feel so much better than I did two months ago. I really do feel like a new person.

    NSV--Bravery

So I entered a peice in an art show. First time since High school. I am scared, and nervous, and anxious...but so happy. Painting isn't actually exercise, but it can requires a lot of energy really, and I just couldn't get anything accomplished. I am proud of it. I need more practice, but I am excited. It's a political peice and maybe the most angry thing I have ever done, but that is a victory in itself. If I offend people...so what. For me to think that is a huge thing. I am usually polite to a fault. I just wanted to share. After the show I think I might put up some pics.

    Share your NSVs!

I have a cute NSV to share. My just turned 6 yr. old granddaughter said to me today" Grandma you look taller. Now you are straight up and down like me." Made me feel good because she is a little skinny thing. She is the first grandkid to notice and she is the youngest. Made me feel good because I have been plateaued for 4 weeks.

    May 2007 Banders

Major NSV today. I need a swimsuit for lymphoedema physical therapy and was SO dreading going to try and buy one. However, once I got there, I loved the very first one I tried! First I took a size 16 top and a 14 bottom in and I almost bought it! Then I thought I may as well try a 14 top. Then I went and got a 12 bottom and finally a 12 top! My head is having a hard time catching up to my body (image). I went for a pricier Land's End suit (which adds another level of accountability), tankini top with the little skirt, and I just love the color. I honestly thought I might run out of the dressing room crying, but I just floated out...and I can't wait to wear it! Here's a link: Women's Solid Faille Lingerie Swim Top from Lands' End Thanks for listening. :-)

    8 Month Anniversary

Today is my 8-month anniversary, and I can't believe it. I am down to 214 (but I DID see 213 yesterday!). I bought a size 16 this morning, and it fits! Yesterday, I had an amazing NSV. About a year ago, my family went to Foster's Freeze. They had little tables with molded chairs. I BARELY fit in the chairs. My boobs were hanging over the table. The table cut into my stomach. I almost didn't fit. Yesterday, we went again. I had that old familiar feeling of, "Will I fit in those chairs?" I wasn't even thinking of last time! I sat down...and I had a good SIX INCHES in front of me! I could sit sideways, front ways, any way I wanted! It was amazing!!! I am now hoping to get pregnant this month. I want SO bad to look pregnant, not just fat. I had originally wanted to be down to 200 before getting pregnant. And I guess it's still a possibility. I'm know it's rare to get pregnant the first month you try. I am now a size 16 or 18. Walmart's 2x clothes are too big. Their 1x clothes are a bit small (only because I have a huge chest still). I can eat 3-5 bites per meal. PER MEAL! And I'm fine with it. I get compliments all the time. And, anyone I now meet, only knows me at this size, not 290. I really don't even remember being this size. I must have been a freshman in junior in high school or so! I STILL can't believe how much has changed in 8 months. It seems impossible. Anyone who told me that I would be a size 16 or 18 in 8 months I would have called a liar. I am now looking forward to being in the 100s. Each day is another milestone. I just can't WAIT to see what happens!!!

    March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD

well DIVA - Any change is a positive change. consider your new found wardrobe to be a NSV. I to am getting into clothes I have not worn in about a year. and some I am putting on get worn that day and then go to the goodwill pile after washing. I am shopping this weekend for a dress for a wedding next weekend and have no idea what to get.... I know it will be a size or 2 smaller. Even clothes I am still wearing are too big in some areas and do not look good, but my budget cannot allow me to buy for each little change. I have bought new shoes and a new purse. They don't have much effect with weight loss It is a feeling we are all getting used to dealing with and one that is a big lift to our self esteem and alson encouragement for our progress to continue.

Thank you all so much! I have not been journaling but will start today, great idea. I do see some difference in my clothing so that is a NSV. Thank you all so much for the great advice and the inspiration. Ann
