    December's Chat

Patty, I'll send you one of those special cards! You truly do amaze me. I kid around alot, but I'm serious about that. What size clothes do you need? PM me! I'm serious about that, too! Betty, OMG! You do fantastic work in the baking department. I am soooo impressed. I could meet you somewhere and sample those things for you....I live closer than those NJ chicks! LOL! Oh, uh, yeah, I'll mail some up there for you....yeah..... Today was our great big fabulous Christmas luncheon at school. It was super as always, and we had tons and tons and tables and tables of food; most of it from the students. NSV: I sat across from my really close friend, Susan, and she commented that I really "eat differently" now. I had only one dessert, and I couldn't eat all of that. My strategy was just to eat one bite of each of the things she chose. It worked. I'm stuffed, and I didn't even feel bad about not trying every little thing. With a smaller capacity, I just choose on the very best things, or my very favorite things, and let all the others go. It IS a big change! Beanie and Eileen, your picture is so cute! I'm with Pat, I'm really jealous that you got to meet. I hope we all get to meet sometime! Pat, did you ever get an XBOX 360? Just wondering. How did your RED HAT group thing go? Outta here for now... Love you guys, Cindy

    No more CPAP!

That is definitely one of the better NSV's I've heard. My mom uses a CPAP machine (when she's being scolded into it), and she HATES it. I can only imagine what a relief that must be!! Congrats, you!!!!

    Friday Weigh Ins

273.2 for me That is 2 1/2 weeks now the scale has hardley moved. I have had a bit of a NSV, was a size 28 jeans,I went to Walmart and bought 2 pairs of jeans one a size 26 and the other size 24. The Size 26 fit good but a bit big in the waist, The size 24's fit and I can zip them without lying on the bed but just a bit to tight in the waist. Quess that means I am a size 25 *G*.
  4. NSV means "non scale victory". So like, being able to wear a small size of pants; sleeping without a cpap; not needing a seat belt extender any longer; etc. Any changes you notice that make you feel better really

    Nsv

I went shopping at Lane Bryant today and I am down to a size 18 on the bottom and 14/16 on the top. I started at a size 24. My goal is 50 more lbs. Pretty soon I'll be shopping at a normal clothing store. I'll miss Lane Bryant though. I've been shopping there for years!

October 2014 sleevers check in please!

I had the BEST NSV today, I went wedding dress shopping and I did not need to buy a plus size gown and the dress designer was in the store and said I had a fabulous skinny waist. I have never felt more beautiful or confident. I am even more excited to get married now!

    Fab 40's shout out

Hi, I'm 42, wife of 20 yrs, mother of 6 ( ages 3-23 ) and a grany to 2. My oldest son ( 19) was with me the other day and someone asked if his girlfriend wanted to try a food sample (me! ). I loved the nsv, but what was really great was the expression on my son's face. You would have swore someone stuck his foot in honey. lol

    Sunta NSV's

Hi Sunta, Congrats. Hi have also lost 50 pounds and experienced the same list of NSVs. To those I add: - Sitting in the car with seatbelt on and "searching" for my belly... - Walking at the track and realizing that my thights do not "rub together" anymore. Wouah!!! Ciao... for now.

    Tastebuds? ? ?

Wis. Gal:Yup, perfectly normal. I got so frustrated having to re-heat everything. Just put a shot glass full of liquid in a cup and heat it and then you can finish it before it gets cold. Then repeat until you have your 1/4 cup done. Your new tummy is SMALL and healing from a major wound. Give it lots of time to adjust. Enjoy this part. Lots of new stuff coming. Gotta enjoy each stage of your journey. Chancie: Can you go back to basics: More protein drinks at a regular interval? Eat one meal a day, drink 2? I saw this recently: Breakfast like a Queen, (think Queen size) Lunch like a Princess, and Dinner like a Pauper. You did not talk about exercise. Come on Chancie, you are one of my hero's here. You and Tiffy are the only Long termers still posting regularly. Please do not let work take over your life. I loved the story about going shopping with your friend and her being bigger than you. NSV for sure. Look for thoes moments. You deserve them and many many more. Work that tool girl.

    Any February 2014 Sleevers?

I had a bittersweet NSV today. My wedding ring set has been sliding all around my finger over the last 2 weeks or so. To keep from loosing them. I had to wrap medical tape on the back. Going to have to figure out a better way to deal with this. I don't want to take them off. Will need to have them resized once I loose all my weight. But not sure what to do for now...
  16. I would like to meet other 400 pounds and more bandsters to compare notes. What are you goals and what have you already accomplished.

I am walking the floors almost in tears.

I am out just a month now with the band and just yesterday I had one of the best NSV's I have felt in YEARS !!!!!! We went to a diner and I got ravioli's for dinner. The plate had about 10 fairly large ravioli's on it. I ate a few bites of my salad, 3 ravioli's and walked out of that diner carrying the rest of them to take home. Your probably saying so?????? Well it hit me that finally, FINALLY I had control and that this band is WONDERFUL!!! I walked out of that place with tears in my eyes because for the first time I felt like I can do this, with my band, I can finally do this, there is hope. I told my dh that it felt good not to have cleaned the table off and walk out feeling disgusted in myself AND gaining another 5 lbs. What an awesome feeling to be able to taste life instead of inhaling it. Don't let the bad news get you down, just think about it as more information to be aware of, IMHO its better to know than not to know. I am loving each day and I am so Thankful to GOD that He!!! gave me this chance with the band. Your gonna be just fine....ok!! Leave your worries to the Lord
  19. This thread reminds me of a story. I have told myself a NSV would be the first time I got hit on at the gym. Well I got to tell everyone (including my wife) that my day had come. I finally got hit on at the gym. Good thing right? NOT!!!! I should be excited, but it turned out to be a late 40's dude dressed like Richard Simmons while I was in the locker room. NOT COOL!!!! Lol.. at least it makes for a good story. I personally like the skinny/sexy people at the gym. Nothing motivates me more than seeing these hot bodies and thinking if I push harder, work longer... one day people will look at me that way.

    Hello Missouri

It sure has been quite on here for a while. I guess everyone must be loosing and doing well. Iam down to 177 from my high of 250. Was a the doctor a week a ago and he says that I did not need a fill since Iam well and need not to come back for another 4-6 months. The wife is doing ok but is having some problems. She goes in this week to have her gall bladder checked. Dr. Minkin says that about 35-45% of his people that have not had there gall bladder out before surgery will have it taken out sometime after having the band due to the weight loss. So will know more in the next couple of weeks. Well it's about that time of the year again to start thinking about what you want to do for next year. I can say that out of the list we had made we did keep up with one item and that was to loose weight all year long. SO us us that is a great NSV and enjoying it. Well I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving and Christams. Chris __________________
  21. I'm about half way through the tons of pre-op clearance appointments for a December surgery. It's a tough place: both of hope and fears. But... today, I am celebrating baby steps and a few pre-op non-surgery victories. I have 4 kiddos: twins that are 15, a 5 year old, and a 3 year old. All girls. Where's my gold star for that alone? Anyway, I'm currently sharing plates, bowls, and utensils with my toddler. I did not get upset today when I had to have green instead of pink. I cut up her food before I diced mine to pencil-eraser size. I tried not to be jealous of her cute sippy cup sitting next to her plate. Tried. Seriously, not drinking before, during and after a meal is rough! So woot woot for me! Anyone else?

    December post ops

I'm with you guys. My surgery was 12/31. I'm bored & hungry. I'm trying to stay positive but it's tough. It really helps me to look at before & after pics and to read NSV's. We'll get through this.

    Very Discouraged

Add more Water to your daily routine. Walk more, even if it's 20 feet at a time, it will add up. Make sure you are tracking what you are eating on a site like My Fitness Pal (I'm Lissa912 if you want to add me). Make sure you get your 70 grams of Protein per day, together with your 64 oz of water. I drink a few cups of decaf coffee a week to help with the bathroom issues. Quit stressing over the scale. Your clothes are fitting looser, which is great! Did you take pre-op measurements? Take some now and compare them. Look for the non-scale victories (NSVs) and determine that you are going to enjoy this journey! Good luck!
  24. I've been reading all of these NSV's to my hubby since the thread started. This weekend I just started laughing when this happened to me. We both had a good laugh together!!

    spray tan

Yeah so I finally did this last night. I left for a tropical vacation this morning and I have a sexy new bathing suit with lots of cut-outs on the abdomen and it did not look cute with my stomach peeking out 3 shades whiter than the rest of me so I went for it. I have no idea what I was so worried about. Yes, I'm way thinner than when I started this thread but I have a small stomach overhang stil. I didn't move it out of the way or anything. The technician just sprayed me like it was no big deal, because t wasn't a big deal obviously she sprays naked people with all kinds of bodies all day long! It felt really good and I look cute with a nice glow. NSV!
