    3 weeks out diet

I am 3 weeks and 4 days and I am so sick of shakes. I had tilapia today. It was blackened.
  3. I'm pretty much eating similar to what I have been. I'm 7 weeks tomorrow. I have a shake with double protein in the morning, then throughout the day, I'll eat a few ounces of deli turkey, some kind of 2% cheese, a crunchy protein snack, soup or a little bit of something I make for dinner for family. Ground turkey, beans, cheese goes down okay. Maybe an egg. Usually some SF popsicles

    Nagging Lower Ab Pain

I am a lot more active than I have been in years and pull all sorts of muscles in my abs. It takes a week or so to heal each time I do this. Not sure if this is the same, but I just think I havent used the muscles in so long they are very weak.
  5. Well I went for my first fill yesterday at the office and he couldn't do it blindly so I went to the hospital today to have it done under floro. Apparently my port is too deep and it tilted sideways and is movable so I have to be re-operated on and I am aggravated but stuff happens. I am self pay and I reminded him of that. He told me not to worry and that he would work it out with the hospital so that I wouldn't have to pay anything. I sure hope he can re-do it soon. He's going to move the port up higher right in the middle below my sternum. I didn't even go to the gym today cuz I was a bit depressed but I'll be right back at it tomorrow. Yesterday I was 6 weeks out and had lost 37 pounds but that's because I am so complaint and I exercise like I'm supposed to. Last week I started weight training as well. Has anyone else had this happen to them or anything like it? Janet:confused:

Gain 5lb in a day???? Is that normal

You did not gain 5 pounds of fat in a day. It's likely water weight. There are going to be ebbs and flows (and stalls, stalls, stalls) throughout the journey. If that's going to frustrate you, try to stay off of the scale. (For instance, maybe only weigh once per week.) Hang in there!
  7. hey im also 20 weeks, congrats on your pregnancy.. i dnt feel a lump in my throat but i am eating like a horse and guessing that i have stretched my band. i have 5 mls in my band and i didnt want to unfill it because i was scared of weight gain. At the beginning of preg i weighed in at 101kgs but went down to 93kgs in first trimester frm being so sick.. now im 98kgs and its abit disheartning.
  8. Okay everyone.. We all know when your pregnant you have cravings. Ive been REALLY bad. I eat healthy most of the time.. but sometimes I eat breads and pastas.. Since I was 10 weeks preggo Ive had the feeling of a constant lump in my throat. Some days I have it.. and some days I don't. I finally talked to my OB about it and she tested my thryoid.. which was fine. A friend of mine also has LAP-BAND® and she mentioned Ive probably stretched my pouch bc I can eat SOO much more then what I used to. Like tonight for instance.. I made an omlet with veggies in it.. I used 3 eggs to make the omlet.. I was able to get down about 3/4 of it! I KNOW thats to much! I only had the band about 4 months before I found out I was pregnant.. So my fill was only at a 3 which my Dr. refers to as a "prime". He didn't want to unfill me bc he wanted me to continue to lose or just stay the same. So far Ive gained about 4 pounds..and thats within the last 3 weeks. Anyone have any insight on this problem or am I just being paranoid?!?! Thanks in advance!!
  9. My bariatric team has been reviewing my chart for nearly 2 weeks. I emailed my patient coordinator asking how long it normally takes for them to review it. She messaged me back saying there is no time limit. How long did it take your team to review and approve your chart so it can be sent to your insurance?
  10. My insurance doesn't cover bariatric surgery, so I've decided to get it done in Mexico. That's not the "wrong" part though, believe it or not. I do feel there is value to the pre-op hoops you jump through to get approved and other preparatory and follow-up work that I'm worried I'm not even aware of. Like everyone else here, I want the best possible chance at success and I feel like I'm already behind the curve. Here's where I stand with my own attempts to get the right support network in place: DIETITIAN - Do I need one after surgery? I'm not currently seeing one, but I used the services of an RD for 2 years, 2006-2008, so I've got all the knowledge regarding portions, balance, nutrient density, etc. I tried to find one, both locally and remotely, but the bariatric specialist RDs are all affiliated with surgical centers and only deal with those patients. I will try again if I need one, I just don't know if I do. THERAPIST - I've tried therapy five times before and never got anywhere. I'm currently getting medication management by a psych nurse, who is on board and has changed my anti-depressant scripts to regular not extended release. Anyway, I'm utterly convinced that this surgery won't succeed without 'head work' and I'm giving it another shot. Unfortunately my first appointment isn't until 2 weeks before my surgery, but at least I'll have it in place for afterwards. He does bariatric psych evaluations for insurance companies, so I'm feeling positive about this choice. POST-OP SURGICAL SUPPORT - I get follow-up support via phone afterwards. My primary doc where I live is on board with ordering the vitamin level tests and such afterwards. This is, unfortunately, all I have figured out...I simply don't know what else I need. BOOKS - I've read Bariatric Mindset Success by Kristin Lloyd, but it didn't really resonate the way I hoped it would Feel free to recommend a book that takes you through all the steps, or a dietitian who does skype sessions, or even just write a bit about a valuable piece of the puzzle I'm either understimating or missing completely. Thank you.

8 Days PostOp and Feeling Horrible

You had your procedure August 18th? I know every doc has a different food plan, but it seems early to be eating solid food only 8 days after your surgery. My surgeon's plan doesn't let me even eat pureed food until 4 weeks out.

    LapBand and snacks

If there is more than 4 hours before your next meal. You are probably going to be hungry. I know I eat lunch at 11:30 and I usually need a snack be fore my 6:30 dinner. So I try to eat some almonds or cheese and fruit around 3:30-4

should I go back to work?

Hi there, That is pretty quick to go back to work already. I had mine on 6/10/13 and went back to work after 5 weeks. If you don't feel up to it I would check with your HR dept and find out how much time you are allotted? Good luck

To work or not to work?

I took off 2 weeks, and was glad I did. I was easily fatigued those first two weeks, since I was on clear liquids only for 1 week and full liquids for 1 week. After starting mushies I got stronger and felt almost back to my normal self the third week. It was nice to be able to just go take a nap when I felt like it those first two weeks. I say if you have sick time, take it for a couple of weeks.

    Golf

First time I played was ~12 weeks post opp. Would have been physically ready at 6-8 weeks, but it just didn't have an opportunity to play.... Funny thought about the power. Most pro golfers anre quite thin but generate massive power. I just had it in my head that putting weight behind the ball somehow helped!
  18. I am lucky if I hit 600 calories. Everyone is different though. My surgeon and NUT haven't said a specific number to me. They did however say as long as your getting your protein and liquids in the rest will pan out for itself. Right now I am just breaking out of my stall and I am about to limit my carbs. I am almost a month out.
  19. My surgeons manual and nutritionist doesn't mention calories. Like some of the others mentioned, they focus on Protein & fluids. In the beginning if you meet both of these goals daily, the carbs and calories will take care of themselves. Consider logging everything on myfitnesspal.com so you see your progression. I wasn't able to meet my requirements on week 4 due to nausea and that is the first time my NUT mentioned calories and only because I started the conversation. At 4 weeks they want me around 900-1000. The first 3 week I was getting 500 - 735. Hope that helps.
  20. Hi everyone! I am just curious about something, I am 5 weeks out as of today and have lost 40 lbs (10 from pre-op diet) why I am super super excited for this amount, I have noticed that my weight loss has slowed down quite a bit since the first week. The first week post op I lost 14 lbs... after that I am ranging between 4-5 lbs a week. Which is still AMAZING! More than I was losing before surgery, when I was trying really hard. Just was curious how everyone elses went. Was it similar to mine?
  21. I'm barely 4 days post op. Been staying at my moms house because I'm a single mom so she could help me with my kids who are 2 & 5 years old. Tonight I decided to come home since mom seemed like she needed a break. My son, the 5 year old, has been sick with fever and upset stomach (getting his 6 year molars in). I was uncomfortable in bed so all 3 of us fell asleep on the couches in the livingroom until I was woke up by my son crying about his stomach hurting. So then we all had to move downstairs so he could go to the bathroom. This is the part where I hurt myself. I had to carry my daughter the 2 year old who weighs 35 pounds and im not supposed to lift more than 20 right now. Now I've noticed some fresh blood under the durabond covering my cuts and it really hurts.
  22. I am now freaking out that I am eating too much! I was sleeved on August 27... I am now eating 1/3 cup of egg whites for breakfast... 2 hard boiled eggs for lunch... No yolk...a cheese stick or yogurt for snack and 1/2 cup of chicken or fish for dinner and veggie... Have I stretched my sleeve ? I also just added some peanut butter on celery for a snack...I don't feel that restricted feeling that I use to feel after a couple of bites but I just stop after I eat those amounts. Am I eating too much!
  23. Just curious how much everyone is eating for lunch and dinner. I don't know if I am eating too much or too little. I starting weighing the Protein (chicken, pork, turkey- my 3 main proteins) and eat about 3 oz. at each meal along with a little Greek yogurt or cottage cheese and a few edamame . Is that too big a serving of meat? I know I'm getting in my protein but just want to make sure I'm not eating too much. Don't want to stretch the pouch!
  24. @@Jonathan Blue Thanks for the info Jonathan! I think I get about 3/4 cup of food at each meal but only eat 3 meals a day. I think since surgery I've had maybe 1 or 2 Snacks in between meals. I just am not hungry. Your progress is inspiring! I ran a marathon in 2000 and my hope is to complete another one within the next 2 years also. Best of luck in all of your journeys!
  25. Last week was such a crappy week for me workout wise. I lost like 3 pounds but I had SH*TTY training sessions..like to the point I felt like I let my trainer down. He even asked me if I felt okay because I wasn't my usual self. So I am going to bounce back this week and remove the words "I can't" from my vocabulary! I am also needing to increase my calories, which is a bit of a scary thought for me..I am around 1,200 a day now at 6 months out. According to my TDEE which I adjusted for having less lean body mass I need to be somewhere around 1,500 calories a day to lose weight. Furthermore, I need more sleep. According to my UP band..I am only averaging like 6 hours of sleep a night. Anyway..that is my confession!
