Gone for Good Club - August 2006

NSV- Went to the store today, saw a cute outfit, they had size 16 and size 12....it was an outfit I could see wearing more this winter, so I bought the 12's thinking, hey this is a great way to get me losing weight so I can fit into this outfit. Got home, boyfriend wanted to see me in the outfit, I say no, its a size smaller than what I can wear. He says, just try it....so I do, and it fits!! Hardly no fat roll on top of the capris and the top looked great. WOW....made me happy happy!

Congrats all, have a great weekend, P'nut and Dawg... the Dawgster will be fine! For an NSV, I'm gonna go clothes shopping this weekend. I'm down to a Large shirt (from xxxl), and 36 pants (from 58), so I need some NEW CLOTHES! I'm getting pretty close to goal, and doubt my shirt size will decrease, and may at most go down one more pants size, so this time I can buy some REAL clothes, not discount stuff to keep the price low during transition. Wish me luck, shopping at REGULAR stores... no more big men's shops for me! BTW, isn't Mo doing great without a band! Heck, she'd be doing great if she had one too, but it takes a lot extra without, and she is setting an example for all of us banded folks... it is all about discipline and hard work!

    Losing it!

First little NSV! I have these underwear that are a little too small, the front tends to roll down under my tummy. Just put them on and they are staying in place. I need a scale!

Well, my 2 lb gain from my last appointment with Dr. Cywes was a wake up call for me (not to mention my fill gave me really good restriction). I've made up for my gain and lost another 8 on top of that...can't wait to get back and show him how well I've done. I'm still working on getting in some activity like taking the stairs at work, walking to the grocery store. My big NSV...got into a size 10 yesterday! Whoo Hoo! I don't think I've worn a 10 since...um...uh...since I was 10? Thanks to all of you for your words of support; hope I can pass it along! Sue :wink2:
  5. Like many on this site, traveling on an airplane when I was super big was very challenging. I am now down 150 pounds, and had my first plane trip. I could not believe how amazingly I fit in the seat, no seatbelt extender, and room to spare all around. Yay! On the ouch side, I am visiting my in-laws for the first time since I've lost this weight and nobody said anything. 150 pounds down, and no one said a thing. I know I have much more to lose but OUCH. They even know I had the surgery (in all fairness, they didn't ask a single thing about me or my husband because they're self-involved but really???) Thanks for letting me rave and rant about this! I've decided by posting this to let go of the ouch and focus on the NSV. Thank you to everyone on this site.

    Summer Challenge

Checking in @ 215 = up one lb but not unhappy at all. DH and I celebrated our anniversary and Mothers day/Father's Day in Philadelphia (for 3 days) compliments of our wonderful daughter and son-in-law. Our son, daughter-in-law & grand daughter joined us for dinner one night so we had the whole family together. NSV - I was able to walk a huge amount for those 3 days, using public transportation so I was on my feet a lot. This past Thursday was my 1 year bandiversary and I can promise you, a year ago this was not possible. I am 70 lbs lighter and my life only gets better and better!

    A nice NSV yesterday

Catfish...I love your exuberance for life! And I love that you showed them a photo! Lol Great NSV, by the way!
  10. I had the surgery 2 days before you and get the stall every week since week 4 but the scale is still moving down of course slower than the first month. I got discouraged at first, but then when the stall started to be the regular lol I just started to appreciate the NSVs, I went to all clothes in the closet, some were totally tight pre-op and now it's loosing. Got a new haircut, try some new makeup and bought accessories. I don't want to but new clothes now, still enjoy the loosing gap between my body and the clothes size 14-16 and even some model in size 12 . I think I might be able to fit into size 12 now but I'm not ready to try the new clothes just yet, I'm still high on this NVS lol. Also please check if you have enough calories intake, the stall always visits when I do over exercises because I cannot really eat more for the portion and I'm too scared of carbs and high callories food. I started to tone up the body with basic yoga & light weight lifting when I cannot go for a walk. Seem like I didn't lose many inches neither at least in the passt 2 weeks but my clothes are more loosing. I guess it just shrinked down into shape. It's amazing how our body works!
  11. You are less than 2 months out and not even close to done losing yet. It will take months, even a year or two. That's a long time to freak out each time you step on the scale. So tell your hubby to hide the scale and enjoy his attention instead! Keep a log of NSV's instead...way more fun and rewarding than numbers.

    A new NSV

I experienced a new NSV this evening and I have to say, I'm feeling pretty good after this one! My daughter had a dress in her closet that was MINE when I was a sophomore in high school. I wore it when I walked in the football homecoming that year. I remember feeling so beautiful in that dress. We were looking through old yearbooks and pictures a few nights ago and she said "Hey! I have that dress in my closet!" So tonight, she pulled it out of the closet and insisted I try it on. I was certain that it would NOT fit. Only, it DID fit! OMG! Wow! What an amazing feeling that was/is! I just can't believe it! People keep telling me how skinny I am and how great I look but I have such a hard time seeing/believing it for myself. I have spent my entire adult life wishing I could be THAT small again and looking at that picture and thinking how little I was and now...Wow! Just wow!

Jodie, that must be too cool wearing one of those short skirts. If I were 20 years younger, I'd give it a shot. Great NSVs.

    nsv's

:laugh :laugh :laugh wow, ican't believe it. although my weight isn't necessarily doing much, my bod is changing heaps. I have just been on a trip to alice springs where i finally had access to clothes, full length mirrors etc and discovered i am now size 16! I stared out as 22/24. Woohoo! It was my goal to be a 16 by new years, but I might even make it to a 14. I bought a short denim skirt and some togs yay... Over the past two weeks I have moved my watch band hole up two holes. i started at the last hole and am now on the fourth hole out of eight. It is so amazing and i still can't comprehend it. The best thing that has happened is that a co-worker didn't recognise me when i was getting out of the car at her place. She said it was really weird, as she knew the car but couldn't figure out who was getting out of it because i have changed so much. her exact words were "i thought you were 'a slim person' not good ol' Jode" She was nearly as excited about it as me! The best part of it is is that she sees me every day.

    nsv's

Jodie Its a great feeling isn't it. I just pruchased my first Large size shirt. All my xxl and most of my xl clothes have already been given to the church. Went from 48 size pants to 42. I have also gone from eee wide shoes to ee. Never figured I'd lose weight in my feet LOL I went on Tuesday for the fisrt time to my family Dr since I had the surgery. He helped me get my insurance approval and hadn't seen me since I pick up the form for the Dr who did my banding. His counter girl who has known me from years of visits looked up and asked me my name LOL. I was shock when she did it as she never has done that before. When I told her my last name I beamed when she looked up very very wided eyes and started to say how sorry she was she didn't recognize me. LOL LOL I told her I was glad she didn't. On way home from Dr I stopped at the store to pick up some groceries and dog food. As I was walking from the car to the house with the dog food on my shoulder I though. "Oh my this is heavy and hard to get up the staris with the 40 pound bag. then it struck me thet if I added 30 more pounds to it that wold equal my weight loss. How did I ever survive carrying all that weight. I now believe that the NSV's are more exciting then the scale readings. I have lost only 1 pound in the last three weeks. But I lost inch off waist 1 1/2 off hips and 1/2 off neck in that time period.
  16. Sometime back some of us on here were discussing company's that offer an "incentive $$$" to their employees for completing a well being assessment/biometric screening. I did boycott for a couple of years....but, then figured what the heck. So yesterday I go to this at work and they do their screenings....all the normal stuff, height/weight/bloodtest, etc. I completely forgot about the required 8 hours of fasting before the bloodtest....but, they said they'd do it anyways. Keep in mind about 2 hours before the test, I had two ribs, half an ear of corn, some broccoli salad, AND homemade fruit salad. When the machine spit out the results, the nice lady goes....."you said you just ate two hours ago?" YEP. She sent me over to this table of health coach professional's.... to explain my results to me. Coach me. After the expert looked over my numbers, she said my sugar/triglycerides/cholesterol ratio/glucose/BP all were "GREAT"! "but you could stand to lose a few pounds"............then I pulled out my phone, and showed her a pic of where I was when I started this journey. Her jaw about hit the floor.... LIFE IS GREAT!

Excellent work! are you tracking your NSVs?
  18. I wasn't sure where to put this post, but then I tought about it and figured this was a success story and NSV! I am leaving for Hawaii this weekend! I am so excited , :w00t: yet nervous too! I have only been on a plane to FL and back, and that was about 10 yrs ago. I am super nervous to fly, but nothing some medication can't help. I am scared to be in a new place with new food. Also, I have never left my dogs. So, this will be a huge achievment for me to take this trip on so many levels! So, I think this should count as another NSV for me. I can (hopefully) fit in a plane seat. I know at 369 pounds I would not have and would have been very uncomfortable, and probably not wanted to go. I hope to have many, many NSV in Hawaii, and of course, will share here (as well as lots of pictures) Also, my 7 month sleeve-aversary will be while I am there! AND... NO SCALE!!!! OMG, I hope I make it with no scale, LOL. But, maybe I will drop some pounds if I am not obsessing about weighing myself daily (multiple times). AND, I am sure I will be a lot more active there. We shall see!!! I really want to do the zip line, but it has a weight limit of 260. I am 250 right now, but scared because I am so close and probably weigh about 5 pounds more with clothes on. I can't really do the zipline naked. :pound: When we get back, my brother, sister and I are getting out pictures done professionally for our mom, for mothers day. I will have to post those too! ALOHA!!! :seeya: :seeya: :seeya: :seeya:

    NSV's Abound

Major NSV , what better timing too! Happy Birthday! I hope u continue to have an awesome day! Congrats on your sizes, willpower at Starbucks and your progress being noticed! So happy for you!
  22. I have reached a lot of NSV that I never thought about before. Sitting curled up, fitting in the middle seat of the car, comfortably fitting in benches and chairs when out with hubby, crossing legs, sitting with knees to chest, painting toes, wearing "regular" clothes, buying a form fitted dress, wearing heels without feeling like my feet will fall off, Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using the BariatricPal App
  23. For starters: Being able to play with my 8-yr old son more. He just came in the room and told me "your the best dad ever." All three of my kids are great but I've gotten better now since my wife and I have 3 (no more!) I just want to run and play with my baby. Take walks with him, take him to the zoo, hiking in caverns, and go to his school to pick him up without feeling self conscious about how I look. This is my #1 NSV DSLdiversity
  24. In my current state (162kg), my belly almost touches the steering wheel when I'm driving. (SEE PIC) Theres 20mm (0.8 inch) between me and the bottom of the wheel with the seat right back. I well remember a 100mm (or 4 inch) gap when I was down to 131kg in early 2016. I want that feeling and better. It'd be nice to give the passenger behind me some leg room. :-) The eventual hernia op next year will help too. A great NSV to look forward to ...
  25. Mrs.FlipFlops - I am soo happy you've lost you first 50 pounds! You will be in twoville soon!! Congratulations on you nsv, I too had a scale I couldn't use until I got below 330. I kept hopping on it thinking one of these days I would be able to use it... and it finally happens and it feels good!!!!!! Keep up the good work!!! You'll be under 300 before you know it!!! Tess
